Last of Winter

The Fall 09 shows are going on right now and all the new stuff for Spring 09 is being released as we speak, so I'll be posting alot about that over the next few weeks. Look out for it.

But first, we need to say goodbye to Winter clothes. Well, at least on the blog. If you're in a country like mine, it'll definitely still be scarf and glove worthy weather.

So I'm sure you'll get a bit of wear out of this amazing outfit I've picked out from the Fall 08 collection sales. Check it out, but be quick. They'll be disappearing pretty soon.

This Lapel Bomber from Satyenkumar at Oki-Ni is really good for a hott outfit like this. It works for going out and for looking extremely good doing every day stuff. AND it's down nearly £200!

This plaid shirt from Wood Wood is beautiful.

This metallic silver bow tie will add a bit of formality and quirkyness to the outfit.

I've never seen jodhpurs like these black coated denim ones from Oak. Amazing.

These boots from Timberland finish this outfit out amazingly.

Okay, so I've been gone for a few weeks over the festive period but I'm back now and I'm ready to start making 2009 the best year ever for CiaranMoore.blogspot.com.

Hope you all had a great new year and all that, now let's get back to the beautiful stuff.

Volkswagen must have some seriously good designers these days. I loved the Scirocco, which was released in December, but VW arn't happy with just one amazing new car.

At the Detroit Motor Show this week, they unveiled the brand new Volkswagen BlueSport concept.

Yes, unfortunately it's only a conept but I think it has quite a good chance of making it to production. I hope so anyway, the BlueSport could infact be the perfect young person car.

The two-door roadster sports a 2.0-liter turbodiesel four mounted amidships. It puts out 180 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque and pushes just 2,600 pounds via a six-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Expect a 0-60 of 6.2 seconds and a top speed of 140, all while returning about 35 mpg on the European cycle and upwards of 62 mpg in "Eco" mode.

Well done to VW for coming up with a really good looking, economically friendlier car.

Toeloop Chair

This is the Toeloop Chair from London based Swiss designer Mario Stadelmann.

It's made from two pieces of bent polymer plastic which are joined end to end so they are closed loops, and attached to a metal base. The unique bend in the pieces of plastic forms a seat, arm rests and back to lean on.

From some angles it looks like a mess of ribbon and from another, a simple chair.

Something I don't post about much these days is art, so here's some amazing high speed "water splash photography" from Flickr photographer Fotoopa.

Using some homemade hardware that involves lasers, the photographer captures water dropping and splashing in frozen detail. The water is made even more captivating because of the vivid colours used. Each shot freezes the action in mid-splash, allowing the viewer to see the amazing forms created.

Scirocco

This one isn't a concept.

This is the new VW Scirocco. It's available right now in Europe (sorry US, not sure when you're getting it). Obviously what I love most about it is its complete, proper beauty, but just incase you'd like to know, here are some of the specs.

The standard engine is VW's 1.4-liter TSI engine rated at 160-horsepower and nearly 43 miles per gallons in the combined EU cycle. The Base trim still includes a six-disc CD changer, air conditioning and exclusive 17-inch alloys.

A second engine is now offered in both Base and GT trims, and it's a diesel. Displacing 2.0-liters and offering 140-horsepower, the common rail oil-burner gets over 55 European miles per gallon, with a choice of either a six-speed manual or DSG gearbox.

The Scirocco starts at £18,970.

Sphere Hotel

This is the Sphere Hotel, to be built pretty soon between Dubai and Abu Dhabi into the side of a cliff on an artificial island.

Visitors to the hotel will access it by an aerial route as it’ll be constructed on an artificial island, about 300 meters away from the beach. The Sphere will feature 200 rooms in 14 floors that will comfortably accommodate about 1000 guests, together with public business zones, boutiques, restaurants, bars and numerous other entertainment areas.

This definitely is a hotel of the future; it will even be able to maintain all its own energy requirements through solar power.

I have to stay there.
