cici artist's art... out and about

a new gallery space - cici's W3 Gallery

2014-06-10T15:05:00.002-04:00

a virtual art place with 1 minute video art shows.

It all began with her photographing a shoe box... to be the basis of 3 walls of the new gallery.
From those photographed new walls, cici "hung" her work & projected her videos, well at least virtually.

In May 2014, the w3 Gallery opened with the movement of a series of Black & White Drawings (6x6") in the new show box artspace.

Here's the first show:

New art with unusual music technique by CICI ARTIST

2013-04-22T11:47:00.000-04:00

DEMODULATION uses text and images with permission from a book from the Reanimation Library (Brooklyn) as the basis for both video and musical score.

The music was generated based on a computer program CICI ARTIST created that maps text from the book to music.

The project was inspired from the Franklin Street Works (Stamford, CT) gallery's April 2013 show entitled "Strange Invitations."

2011-12-13T13:34:00.003-05:00

Next summer, I will have a show "3 (BIG) Pieces" at the LAA Gallery in Stamford, CT.

I am working on the 3 pieces.
and.. creating short videos as I progress... These videos, in reedited form, will be integral to the show.

One of the 3 Big pieces will be an Orchestral Installation. I drew 100 sketches of the musicians. Some of those sketches are in this first WIP (Work In Progress) video.
OK Here's the video:

Musician's 2011 - online art show

2011-10-15T23:48:00.002-04:00

Stepping up to the music is my latest art series of Musicians, "Musicians 2011."

I've taken my ladies back to a smaller format of 6" to 12" square. Mixing them with a bit of mixed media but keeping the full color and ink smudged watercolor technique that I love so dearly.

I hope you'll visit the show.

2011 Mixed Media Musicians Goldenized

2011-04-19T21:50:00.001-04:00

Today you can see two more of my latest lady musicians.

I think this golden layering is working rather well. Although the images don't show the metallics as well as I would like...
Perhaps the most successful pieces are those whose textured background promotes a kind of golden grid within the works.

OK. Today another Pianist and a Guitarist with a detail image. (I finished these last week).

2011 Pianist - Getting Ready for July Show

2011-04-18T11:51:00.000-04:00

Contemplating Pianist
mixed media on canvas
24"w x 30"h

It's the first time I've moved the keyboard to the top left of the painting. I think this gives the Pianist a bit of a story. The keyboard seems to be coming down on her in a way that makes me feel she might be hiding from something. However, her face tells me something else is happening... like she is comfortable where she is, and is contemplating her next move.

As I mentioned in the last post, I am adding a layer of goldenness to my Musician Series.
The second installment of musicians will be showing 11 new works using this new layer. ( Notation 2, at 205 W 58th St, NYC). I am still working on them.

The piece you see here is one of the pieces I might include in the show.
