Rumor Has It HM(plus) in USA

In case you haven't heard....H&M has launched a new plus size line called H&M+, (sz14-24) is was renamed previously known BIB (big is beautiful). Sadly this line is only sold in Europe and on-line, which in not available to US customers.....why? Any who as my title suggest "rumor has it" some US stores will and do have the H&M+ line. This morning Marie Denee (The Curvy Fashionista) wrote on Facebook, she found 2 local So Cal stores which had the plus line. I obviously was excited...so I personally called one of the H&M locations in Ontario Mills and have confirmed they have H&M+, in fact girl said they had it for 2 weeks. Its not to clear from the website which stores in the US will carry H&M+, you can call your local surrounding stores and ask. I for one am excited and will be heading out this weekend to check out the new H&M+.

Jason Wu for Target Video

Yet another Target collab came and went...well guess its still going. Sunday February 5th, I set my alarm at 6am to make sure I got to my local Target by 8am to get my Wu on....Jason Wu that is. I wasn't able to go to the opening of the Missoni for Target since for some odd reason Target decided to launch it on a Tuesday. Well thank goodness Target came to their senses and went back to Sunday launches. Any who, my local Target did have a line but if you were there when store opened you most likely got what you wanted. I am take what you see kinda shopper then decide what you will actually keep and buy. Check out the video of my Jason Wu for Target shopping experience.

I ended up buying a couple of the tees, scarfs and bags, since that's all that fit me. But I do like the style and quality of the Jason Wu for Target collection. Quality and pricing does seem to be better than some previous collabs. Some people will argue that it feels cheap, but yeah its Target you pay cheaper prices so you will get cheaper fabric. Don't get it how some people will complain about the quality but would never pay the price for "real" quality designers. Oh well either way I am happy with this collection. When it comes to Valentines Day I can be as romantic and cheesy as most woman, but when it comes to fashion don't give me any girly stuff. Color Pop

Weather in LA has been awesome, sunny warm days and breezy cool nights. Some days all you need is a scarf to keep the chill away. I am not one to wear bright colors, but every now and then I like to have a pop of color. I dug up one of my favorite colorful scarves and threw it on to add some color. This scarf really added a much needed pop to this outfit. Sometimes just a little color or accessory can make all the difference.

Almost Lipstick by Clinique

Clinique has been one of my go to cosmetic brands since I was in high school. When I first started working retail at a department store, (very long time ago) the cosmetic counter was the most coveted job of all. I had a friend who finally made here way to cosmetics and was working at the Clinique counter. I have to admit, secretly I was a little jealous of her white coat she wore. What girl doesn't love to play with make-up all day!

Clinique is one of those brands where you know you will get great skin care and classic make up to make us look beautiful. This winter Clinique released a new lip collection called Almost Lipstick. The Clinique website describes Almost Lipstick as ...

"Transparent pigment merges with the unique, natural tone of your lips to create something wonderful and yours alone. Sheer, glossy. Emollient-rich and very lightweight."

Clinique sent me three shades of the new Almost Lipstick to preview. Below are the pictures and how the colors looked on my lips. The colors looked similar, but have a feeling they will react and look a bit different on every ones lips. I liked the sheerness of the lipstick, which made it look like a gloss with out being too sticky or super shiny. The feel and consistency of a lipstick made the colors last longer and moisturized my lips. This type of lipstick is great for spring or summer weather. I don't like to wear heavy or highly pigmented color in warmer weather. Almost lipstick is great when you want some color on you lips but want the light feel of a gloss. I some times don't like lip gloss that is super shiny, which can make your lips look greasy. The Almost Lipstick from Clinique seems to be the perfect balance between a lip stick and lip gloss.

Color Trend: Skinny Jeans

Color Skinny Jeans have been on the scene for awhile. Last year we saw celebs wearing them and being spotted on magazine and fashion website. As with most plus size fashion and retailers, trends come a season or two after "straight" size fashion. Lately I have been noticing many plus size websites and retailers finally giving us plus size gals options in colored skinny jeans. Doesn't look like the skinny jean trend is going away for awhile. What do you think about the color skinny jeans? Some colors I like and other I just don't see my self wearing. I'm happy we can also wear this trend and buy color skinny jeans in our size.

Celebrating Curves with The Curvy Fashionista

On Saturday January 7, 2012 I headed to a party in LA to celebrate Marie Denee The Curvy Fashionista. I am not really a party girl, but had to be there to celebrate with all my fave LA bloggers and curvy friends. Marie put together a great party and had a packed house. Happy New Year to All!

Lash Card - Review/Giveaway

Mascara is one of those things that can totally transform your look. Many woman swear they cannot leave home without at least mascara on. Others only wear mascara and no other make-up. Which ever category you fall under if your a woman that loves to wear make-up, I am sure mascara is a must for you. When it comes to wearing make-up, I am not the full face or glam type of gal. I have to admit when I am not wearing at least mascara, my face feels naked. One thing I do hate about applying mascara, the mess. Maybe its just me, but I end up with mascara on my fingers, face and smudges all over the place. I'm not the most graceful person when applying make-up...LOL

I recently was introduced to a new product to help with the messy mascara application. Lash Card is card you use when you apply your mascara helping you not only with application, but also preventing clumping, smudging and mishaps. Lash Card also works for separating lashes, layering mascara, hard to reach lashes and reapplication.

I have been using the Lash Card product for about one week. It was useful in preventing smudges and not making a mess when applying mascara. Having the dual curve on either end was good, which made it convenient for different shaped eyes as well as top and bottom lashes. The Lash Card actually came about from make-up artist trick of using a business card to apply mascara. Never heard of the business card trick before. One thing I did find a bit odd was trying to hold the Lash Card and apply the mascara, can get a little tricky. Took me a few tries to find the proper positioning of the Lash Card and apply mascara correctly. Also helpful to not apply mascara, hold Lash Card and a mirror all at once...LOL Yes my first attempt using the Lash Card I was holding all 3 and was not successful. With continued use of the Lash Card I was able to get better at the application of mascara. Lash Card come individually wrapped in packs of 10 and are made of recycled paper. If you are someone who wears lots mascara daily and has issues when applying it, you should give these a try. I don't think they are super convenient for everyday use. I can definitely see the benefit for those occasions when you want your make-up and mascara to be perfect. Having them individually wrapped is good and makes them portable to carry in your make-up bag or when you travel. Get Cozy

OK this weekend it officially feels like fall in California. Rain, clouds, wind and low temps (50's) means its time to get warm and cozy. Chunky sweaters, boots, and scarfs is the wardrobe of choice for this fall weather. One trend I am loving currently for fall is the Fair Isle knits. The prints are unique and have character, which makes them charming in my opinion. You can find the Fair Isle knits in about everything now from sweaters, to vest to bags and even shoes.

Shore Drive

Its been a while hasn't it! Sometimes work and life just gets in the way of blogging, whats a girl to do...LOL Last weekend we had gorgeous weather and I enjoyed a test drive along the shore. Nissan Leaf the all electric vehicle was in town (Long Beach) and invited me to take a test drive. I won't go into details about the car and bore you, but will tell you its a cute car. You literally plug it in and charge it up. I have a video that will be posted on veronicacid.com shortly so if your interested in more details about the Nissan Leaf, keep an eye out for it.

I have always been proud of being a Latina, and this event made me feel even prouder. I was invited to the Latina Magazine's 15th Anniversary party by sponsor Covergirl. It was not only a celebration of the magazine, but of the success of Latinas. We were treated to a make-up session from Covergirl, a photo shoot on the red carpet and shared the dance floor with a couple celebs.


I invited my niece and new blogger to the party. We both got the Covergirl treatment from MUA Artemis.

We were also treated to a mini concert by singer Kat Deluna who had the crowd on their feet and dancing the night away. The room was filled with so many inspiring and successful Latinas, I felt honored to be among them all.

Singer Kat Deluna was great on stage and my niece was excited to take a pic with her.

Adventures in Shopping

Every shopping trip for me is an adventure, whether is its to my local mall or even Target. I love the fact you just never know what deals you may find. Last weekend I took a trip to Camarillo, CA to the Premium Outlets which is about 1 hour outside LA. It was a beautiful day and the drive was great no major traffic, for LA is surprising. I wasn't looking to shop for anything in particular, just checking out the sales and new stores added. I made sure to hit all my faves like Betsey Johnson, Coach, Gap, Vans, Michael Kors, Kenneth Cole and many others. Sadly I didn't find as many things as some other visits to the outlets. I only bought a couple essentials, some tights, a cozy sweater and little something for the BF at Coach. If you'd never visited an outlet mall I recommend you do at some point. You can really get some great items at very affordable prices. Many high-end designers have outlet stores nowadays, so even the most brand conscious shopper can find what they need.

Rx for Dry Hair!

Has summer’s searing heat cooked your coif to a dull dryness? Or do you struggle with the frizzies all year? Either way, don’t despair. Here are the six most common dry-hair culprits, plus reviving tips from top stylists.

Issue: You worship the sun.

Rx: This one’s an easy fix: Before heading outdoors, either don a hat (Coolibar.com sells stylish sun-blockers!) or spray your tresses with a UVA protectant.

Then, once a week, treat your hair to a deep conditioner or a half-cup of warmed olive oil. First, towel-blot hair until it’s damp. You don’t want to apply conditioning treatments to wet hair -- just as with an oversaturated lawn, “when hair follicles already are filled with water, they cannot absorb conditioners,” says Umberto Savone, Selma Blair’s stylist. Next, apply the conditioner or olive oil. Then wrap your head in a warm towel for 20 minutes. Finally, rinse. You may be tempted to wear a shower cap to bed and keep the conditioner on overnight, but don’t bother; Savone says the treatment loses effectiveness over time.

Issue: You wash your hair too often.

Rx: If your hair is dry, you should shampoo two to three times weekly -- tops. “Overshampooing strips hair of the natural sebum oil your scalp produces,” says Mark Anthony Talavera, owner of Houston’s Mark Anthony Salon. “So massage your scalp as you scrub to stimulate oil glands.”

Look for a pH-balanced shampoo, which will close your cuticles. Then follow up with a light conditioner. If needed, rinse your hair or use a dry shampoo between showers.

Issue: You stage chemical warfare on your hair.

Rx: Gels, mousses, hair sprays and styling creams may keep your mane nicely styled, but many of them contain alcohol as a primary ingredient, which slowly robs your hair of moisture.

Instead, “live with what nature gave you -- and read the ingredients list,” says Talavera. “The first three items constitute 70 to 80 percent of the contents. You want emollients and conditioners and only denatured alcohol, which are less damaging.”

Issue: You fight your hair’s natural impulses with blow-dryers and irons.

Rx: If you can’t air-dry your hair, make a point to cut -- or at least curb -- your drying time. Fine, straight hair needs only 30 seconds per section on high speed, medium heat, says Gregory Patterson, stylist to Anne Hathaway and Janet Jackson at New York City’s Blow. Curly, thick hair needs, at most, a minute per section, starting with medium heat for the first half and high heat for the second. Stop once your hair is warm -- not hot.

And before you switch on the heat, safeguard your hair with leave-in serum and a blow-dry accelerator. Look for soothing ingredients, like aloe vera and rice, soy, milk or almond proteins. “Think creamy,” says Patterson. “And always, always use a dryer nozzle. It closes cuticles, adds shine and stops the heat coil from hitting and frying hair.”

Issue: You’re a water baby.

Rx: Pool chlorine and ocean salt stress your hair, says Talavera. Before taking a dip, seal your hair cuticles with waterproof spray and (sorry!) wear a swim cap. Shampoo right after you get out of the water, and use a chlorine-countering clarifying shampoo once a week.

Issue: You have naturally curly hair.

Rx: Not only is curly hair dryer than straight hair, but the cuticles are rougher, adding to dullness. Restore the glow with polishers -- preferably pigmented ones, because they have less parching peroxide and ammonia, says Talavera. Or hit your kitchen: “Apple cider vinegar makes hair shiny by shutting cuticles,” he says. “Just rinse after shampooing, and your hair will look healthy.”

Summer Lovin

WOW Summer is OVER!! Can't believe fall will soon be here and summer 2011 will only be a memory. Glad I have lots of great memories of my summer. I had many ideas and plans to make videos of all of the fun things I did this summer. Between working, being busy and just enjoying my summer, I didn't get around to doing it. MY FASHION NIGHT OUT

No rain, sleet, snow or strep throat is keep me away from Fashion's Night Out! I didn't know it at the time, but apparently I had strep throat during FNO at South Bay Galleria. Oopsie! I wasn't feel all too well, had a sore throat and cough, but being the true fashion fanatic I couldn't miss out. The lovely people at South Bay Galleria invited me to help out with the FNO festivities and I could not disappoint. My mission was to spot fashionable/stylish shoppers and reward them with SB Galleria gift cards. Me and Alexzondra from IzbyA took our job very seriously, hunting down the South Bay's fashionable shoppers. Let me tell you, it was harder than we thought giving out those gift cards. In the end we gave them all away and had fun in the process. The night consisted of a VIP lounge for Shoptopia members, food samples, fashion and make-up demonstrations. Along with a DJ spinning great jams and fabulous shoppers, we had a great Fashion's Night Out! Now on to what you all want to see those fashionable shoppers!!!

1) These girls were my favorite, they were so cute and from my hood...Long Beach! Totally stylish from head to toe.

2) This dude had the total Cali vibe going on with his hat and shades showing off his swagger around the mall.

3) This shopper looked totally effortless and chic in her dress. She was shocked when I awarded her a gift card for her stylish outfit.

4) Another one of my faves, this girl had the LA Glam vibe with he Loubs, Chanel belt and fur vest! Tres Chic!

5) This gal was Tres Chic's friend and she was walking around with a big smile the whole time. A smile is always your best accessory!

6) This little one was so cute, when I asked for her picture she immediately posed...I loved her panda bear necklace too!

7) Can we say boho chic! I loved this shoppers cool belt and she had the most fabulous warp thingy going on...Loved it!

8) One of the last photos of the night, she caught my attention with all her sparkle from head to toe. Gotta represent those curves!
