Cigarpoet Affirmations is a Cigar review blog in reference to poetry, Cigar culture, Cigar Reviews, News, cigar etiquette, cigar art photos, tobacco history, ... and self-growth. This site was inspired significantly by my interest in personal development and becoming a published author (Ebook on toolbar). The motto is learn to paint and be a creative artist to transform your reality.

Weather proofing is a term used to protect your home from bad weather by looking for areas that need to be fixed. Unfortunately we can have the tendency to weatherproof everything in our lives by constantly searching to see what's wrong. The problem with weatherproofing our relationships whether it be our partner, friends, or family, is similar. We begin to look for cracks or leaks in the relationship in order to fix and correct it. This process only alienates our relationships because it encourages us to see what's wrong with everything instead of appreciating our relationships. The practice of "weatherproofing" makes a person critical, so try to avoid weather-proofing and start enjoying better relationships.

La Traviata Maduro Cigar Review

La Traviata "Maduro" cigar by CAO is a medium-full bodied cigar manufactured in Esteli, Nicaragua. This cigar was introduced at the 2010 IPCPR Trade Show, and its the first time I smoked one. The only difference between the original Traviata is the Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. The maduro sports a Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro toothy leaf. The cigar produces plenty of smoke and the draw is peppery and leathery, but does change slightly with notes of cedar and roasted nuts with a dry finish.

Cameroon Chisel

Litto Gomez owner of La Flor Dominicana created The Cameroon Chisel based on La Flor Dominicana's Cameroon Cabinet line. This cigar has Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers with an aged Ligero Cameroon wrapper and only 500 boxes in December of 2011 were made, but Prior to this the cigar was only available from the LFD Chisel Sampler. The Cigar has an interesting Chieseled shape at the top of the head and The wrapper is oily with slight veins on it and has a nice cold draw. The cigar strength is medium to full with a lot of flavor and spice with notes of chocolate, coffee, leather, and earth. Burns even with a long white gray ash about 2 inches. In the end a very smooth cigar with body and flavor.

Reserva Especial

The Reserva Especial by Jaime Garcia is a limited production and it's a nice complex smoke in terms of flavor and body. I smoked a Toro size and consist of a Connecticut Broadleaf Wrapper, Binder from Ecuador, Filler from Nicaragua. This cigar is full body flavor with a Medium-Full Strength level. Burns with a medium to light grey ash and picks up in strength. On the first third and pre- light draw has earthy and woody flavors, but changes with flavors of oak , semi-sweet chocolate, and cocoa flavors ending with a creamy finish.

Candle Charm

Burning candles can be very therapeutic and relaxing especially if its aromatic. Candles can affect are moods and cause an altered state of awareness and change our environment or area of space. The color of a candle can also have some significance; for example, a green colored candle can represent money. The reason for this is that candles have a vibrational influence, and using the correct color can aid you for whatever you are working on manifesting into your life. Before using a candle for its vibrational energy, it should be dressed or anointed with scented oil, virgin oil/baby oil or whatever your intent is. Candles have a polarity (the top is the North Pole and the bottom is the South pole) and starting from the middle rub upwards and then again from the middle rub downwards; this is a form of blessing to banish negativity. To use a specific colored candle look up the associated meanings of its color. For instance to attract love use the color of red.

Cuban Cigar

I have heard that Cuban cigars were superior than any other cigar in the world at one time, but that's not the case anymore due to various reasons; however, even with the question of personal taste there are much better tasting and looking cigars being made due to the blending of different tobaccos coming out of the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Brazil, and Nicaragua, and at about 1/2 to 1/4 the price. The cultivation process of tobacco outside Cuba has improved, so is it really a myth that Cuban cigars are so good, originating from the fact that they are not imported to the US, or is it hype that Cubans are really better? When you throw in the price tag for a cigar, this is also considered a preference, and sometimes the cost of a cigar does matter. All things being equal can non-Cubans rival an original authentic Cuban like a Guantanamera brand or not .

Allure Cigar Review

JD Cigar Co added a new cigar line labeled Allure cigars, and a few days ago I received two Allure cigars from David Insignares, President of JD Cigar Co. The Allure line uses the same size and shape with binders and fillers from Nicaragua, and two different wrappers from Equador, a "Connecticut shade" and the other is "Habano". The Habano cigar has a naturally darker brown wrapper and burns even with a solid light gray ash, and the flavors are marvelous. The Connecticut had a bit more pepper on the tongue and burns with a darker ash. The initial draw on the habano is aromatic with the flavor of cinnamon coffee and builds up in strength and flavor. The Habano at midpoint is nutty and spicy with a creamy long finish. The Connecticut had a dryer finish and burned a litter faster. Overall the Habano is Full body in terms of flavor and medium in strength. The Connecticut is a milder smoke and depending on what you like mild or medium, both these cigars are a good smoke.
P.S. I used a Cuban Cut (which is slanting the cigar cutter downward)

Stones are connected to earth energy because they are part of the earth and are also linked to element of air being a vital life force since both these elements are contained in the body and their vibrations merge. Stones can be utilize for healing, luck, protection against negative energy, and increase psychic skills. Each stone has a certain vibration; for example for prosperity and abundance the color green represents money and orange for good luck, or white for protection. Stones should be cleaned before using by placing them in water with a little salt and can be left in sunlight for three days for best results. Do not let other people touch these stones since negative people can cancel what your working on. If you are drawn to a particular stone then that is the one that is meant for you to utilize for whatever purpose you need it for like legal matters, protection, or success.

St. Patrick's Day Viaje Cigar

The Viaje White Label Project (WLP) St. Patrick's Day 2012 version is a 5 x 52 robusto and extremely limited. This St. Patrick's Day 2012 features a beautiful green Candela wrapper (same as last year with a blend modification and bigger ring guage). The draw is perfect producing a lot of smoke with flavors of peppery cedar, and is a heavy medium cigar with an excellent burn. Overall a very enjoyable smoke.

Cellar Reserve Gurkha cigar

The Gurkha aged 15 year cigar is a Dominican Puro created by the Masters of K.Hansotia & co. This is the info provided by Gurkha cigar... "The vintage Cellar Reserve uses the finest quality 15 year-old aged tobacco, comprised of an oily Criollo 1998 wrapper, that combines an aged Dominican, Olor binder with a 15-year old Dominican filler. Housed in unique wooden boxes that aesthetically evoke a maturing wine barrel, the Cellar Reserve is a delicious medium to full-bodied cigar that is full of flavor and complexity." I smoked A Gran Rothchild and it burned even with a decent draw. The cigar to me is a dry full body cigar with a nutty finish balanced with some smooth and mild flavors of earth and wood. The Gurkha Seduction cigar comes in four sizes:

I smoked the xo size and I was immediately seduced by this cigar. It is a full flavor cigar with a medium body. The draw is smooth with a nice herbal aroma. This cigar consist of an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, paired with a Dominican, Olor binder and Corojo, Colombian filler. This cigar is smooth and creamy with a touch of honey and cinnamon blending with some fruity flavors. This is one of the best cigars I smoked this 2012 year.

Undercrown Cigar

This Undercrown cigar comes from the Liga privada unico line series by Drew Estate. The front label reads in Spanish "Exclusivamente para EL Jefe" which translates as exclusively for the boss, and on the back is the blue Undercrown logo. This cigar is a returned to the wild with its stylish pigtail cap perfecto, torpedo, Figurado shape. The “Feral Cigar” is combined with great detail to create the perfect smoke and possibly disrupt the balance of exceptional cigar making. All the features on this Under crown cigar are outstanding with a wonderful appearance, touch and smell. The draw and burn are excellent with an easy twist off pigtail cap with no need of using cutters; just twist, lite up and smoke. The tiny opening produces a lot of smoke with a nice light gray ash. On the first half of the cigar is gentle and smooth with earth and slight pepper flavors. On the second third the cigar is smooth sailing building a sizeable ash with flavor notes of black espresso cappuccino, and on the last third the cigar finishes the way it started, strong except with a dry finish... The end result is an awesome smoke that features a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, Brazilian Mata Fina Binder and a Nicaraguan filler. Flavor is bold and strength is full. Recommend having this with an ale or other sweet beverage.

Viaje "Friends and Family" Cigar

This Viaje cigar is a 7 x 48 box-pressed Churchill. The label on the foot says Cadeau, which translates into gift in French. The wrapper has a lot of veins and doesn't produce a lot of smoke. This is probably due to a thin ring gauge. I struggled with the draw a little bit and started to smoke faster so the cigar started to burn hot. The most thing I enjoyed about this cigar was the taste. It is medium in flavor with floral notes mixed with some spice and pepper. The strength level surprised me because of the size and shape, but it is a full-bodied cigar. This Viaje "Friends and Family" cigar is a limited edition and comes in 15 ct boxes and cost is nearly 20 US dollars a stick.

CAO Olancho Cigar

This CAO sol cigar was released at last year's IPCPR trade show Nov 8 2011 by General Cigar Company has the label OSA on it which stands for "Olancho San Agustin" , located in Honduras, is the wrapper used from a proprietary 2008 crop. The wrapper is a medium brown with a lot of veins and burns with a white to light grey ash. The cigar has a good even burn and the draw is perfect. I detected hints of caramel with earth, oak and wood flavors. This is a medium cigar all the way around in terms of flavor and strength with a dry finish. This CAO cigar has a Connecticut Broadleaf binder, and a blend of Nicaraguan and Honduran filler.

A Private Blend

The interesting part of this T52 cigar is the America Habano (Connecticut) wrapper; a dark maduro color, and Liga Privada means "Private Blend". The other part is the heavy solid weight of the cigar as I rolled it off my hand. The ash is a medium gray. also has an interesting blend of binder and filler. I found the construction flawless. The draw was perfect with a nice slow-burn. Taste-wise I got hints of cocoa, cedar and leather notes of nuts, and coffee, but in the end I really got that signature sweet taste for Drew estate Cigars. The price of this cigar is about 15 U.S.dollars. This cigar is made by Drew Estate.

Diplomatico aged rums are produced in Venezuela by Destilerias Unidas and are ranked consistently among the finest South American rums. This Venezuelan dark golden rum is rich, sweet and fruity and enhances the molasses flavor of this Hispaniola cigar I smoked it with. Thanks to Hispaniola cigars for introducing me with this fine rum to go with the cigar.

Puro Vintage by La Aurora

Mona Lisa enjoying a good cigar. The cigar in this photo is a Salamone Puro Vintage 2004 Cigar by La Aurora. This cigar is rare like the photo. Only 12,000 cigars of this line were created and sports an Ecuadorian leaf with Cuban-seed Dominican long-filler and binder, and cultivated over a five year period.

La Aurora Torpedo

This torpedo size from La Aurora sports a cameroon wrapper, but La Aurora has always blended cigars with Cameroon tobacco. The difference of this blend was a switch from Dominican mix binder to a full Nicaraguan binder with a new label. This Cameroon wrapper is thin and delicate so the cigar has to be handled with care. The wrapper is also toothy and the cigar is a full bodied smoke with some medium bold flavors of nuts and cedar. The cigar has a dry sweet finish and burns great. The price of this cigar was only eight U.S. dollars and worth having it in your humidor for regular smoking/consumption....

Three Flying Pigs

Once upon a time there were three little pigs and the time came for them to leave home and seek their fortunes. But Only one piggy by the hairs of his chinny chin chin was able to huff, puff, and blew smoke up the chimney and not let the big bad wolf in because this flying pig built his house with bricks, not straws or sticks.

Life is beautiful when you can smoke "Flying pig tails by Liga Privada cigar line" in the morning...one in the afternoon...and one in the evening!

Viaje 2011 holiday blend cigar

The Viaje 2011 holiday blend is a small batch boutique cigar that is extremely rare. It is a limited released occurring or distributed during the winter solstice. The Viaje Holiday Blend was introduced in 2009 by Viaje owner Andre Farkas. On the pre-light aroma detected hints of fresh mint and coincidence or not sports a green label. I also tasted spicy dark espresso notes. This cigar is full of flavor and is medium to full with a nice oily wrapper, and a unique mini-style shredded foot. I had to relight the cigar, but I didn't mind because the cigar taste great. Burned a little uneven with a dark Ash. I'm just glad the 2011 holiday season is over.
