Meet Charlene+Charles. I had the pleasure of shooting their e-session at the Griffith Observatory last month! At the beginning of our session, they both admitted that Charles didn’t like his picture taken but once we got going, I think he started easing into it.. right Charles?! ;) As for Charlene? She’s not just a natural in front of my camera but she’s also talented in the kitchen! She opened her own cake shop, Baked Sweet Lee and will be baking her own cake for her wedding! At the end of our session, she even surprised me with a bag of the most delicious cookies I’ve ever had!!!!! Seriously, THE BEST COOKIES IN THE WORLD PERIOD.

Ok, Venice Beach may be my new favorite spot to shoot, sigh.

We started Mimi+Jeff’s engagement session at Abbot Kinney then headed off to the canals and finished it off at the Beach. I couldn’t have asked for a better location. Or a better couple.

Meet Mimi+Jeff. Such a gorgeous couple! Seriously, I could have shot them all day, everyday! And yes, there’s probably way too many photos than I should share here for an e-session but can you blame me?! :) Seriously, this couple is HOT.

These next two are probably my favorite photos I’ve taken to date… LOVE. It just couldn’t have been more PERFECT.

On a super windy, super cold sunday afternoon, the Lee family and I braved ourselves for a family session with Kaiden in tow at the Roxbury Park in Beverly Hills. Regina+Robert kept apologizing all throughout the shoot cause by their standards, Kaiden was being fussy all throughout the day! I may not know much about babies but considering how cold it was that day, I think Kaiden was a champ! Judge for yourself. :)

I can’t get enough of Kaiden’s expressions!

About an hour into the shoot, we moved the shoot into their home cause it just got way too cold and we were starting to feel bad for Kaiden! I couldn’t be more happy with that decision cause I don’t think these could’ve came out any better! I think every family should do a session in their home, in their own atmosphere where they’re most comfortable! :) I guess the cold weather was a blessing in disguise afterall!

My favorite from the session, a perfect ending to an awesome session! :)

Regina+Robert, thanks for inviting me into your home and I can’t wait to see you again in couple of weeks for Kaiden’s 1st birthday!

Whew. Where has the time gone? Between trying to still blog rest of the wedding last year (yes, I still have more than a few weddings that need to make it here, I know, sad right?!), attending WPPI, a photographer’s conference in vegas, shooting, doing the backend business stuff, and the usual life stuff, I’ve been swamped and it seems like the next couple of months won’t be any different! But that’s a good thing, right?! But I digress.

On a hot, hot summer day last year, I got to shoot this wedding with my friend Ashleigh at Los Angeles LDS Temple! Ashleigh was the first friend I made in this industry so I knew shooting this wedding with her was gonna be a blast, regardless of all the heat+sweat! This was our first wedding together, my first time being at the temple and it was probably the hottest wedding I’ve shot to date! Even with 20+ weddings they had going on at the temple, we still managed to get some great shots of Kristina+Roy! And as you can see, they are full of personality and lots of laughs! Enjoy!

Esther, Brian and I used to go to the same church when we were young and they always knew me as Brian’s older sister. (My brother’s name is Brian too just to make things a little more interesting. :)) A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of shooting Esther+Brian’s engagement session at Griffith Park Observatory where Brian proposed to Esther under the stars after dating for 10 years! Mad props to Brian for still bringing on the romance after a decade! As I was waiting to meet them, I was pleasantly surprised to find them walking towards me with a whole entourage armed with a suit case and probably enough shoes for a party of 12! And you know, with that many shoes, a shoot can never go wrong! :) Thanks to Alicia and Rose for making Esther feel and look gorgeous!

When you have a well planned timeline, it always makes the photographers happy. And when everything sails smoothly, it makes the photographers even MORE happy! And all this probably wouldn’t have been possible without Catherine! It really pays to have a good coordinator! :)

The day started out in the ever so trendy hotel room in Viceroy Santa Monica where Jenn+Daniel got ready. Youkeun+I got there early to document them getting ready and to shoot the details with plenty of time to spare. I must’ve took more than 50 shots of the shoes alone! :) What can I say? Badgley Mischka paired with a gorgeous suite at the viceroy does that to a girl! Then we were headed of to the newly renovated Walnut Grove at tierra rejada ranch in Moorpark for their beautiful outdoor wedding!

we had enough time after the ceremony for a 2nd portrait session! LOVE. I told you it was a well planned out day!

This wedding was nothing short of amazing, beautiful couple, perfect weather on a summer day, gorgeous venue, and the most well thought-out timeline! As always, big thanks to Youkeun for having me!

When another photographer asks you to shoot their family session for their christmas cards, you can’t help but feel extremely flattered and nervous at the same time. It’s one thing to be invited to shoot a wedding with them but it’s a whole different story for them to ask you to shoot THEIR family, it’s a lot more personal. I’ve shot with Youkeun quite a bit for the past year so I have heard a lot about his family, I’m glad I finally got to meet them in person!

Meet the Oh family. Helen gave birth to their son, Ryder only a few months prior to this shoot. Can you believe how small she is shortly after labor? Some people are just born lucky..

I couldn’t get over how cute Rylie was, and mad props to Helen for her adorable outfit!

us in real life

Have you ever seen the movie “Dan in Real Life”? It’s one of my all time favorite movies. I love everything about it, the soundtrack (If you don’t know Sondra Lerche, you should head over to pandora now!), the characters, the story, Steve Carell… Ahhh…, it would just be easier to list the things I don’t like! It’s just one of those movies that make your heart all warm and fuzzy inside.

This thanksgiving, I had a ‘Dan in Real Life’ weekend. All my family members from my mom’s side (minus 3 people) got together at Warner Springs and spent our thanksgiving together relaxing, eating, talking, drinking, soaking in the hot springs, and just catching up! Mom’s side of the family is rather small with 2 siblings, a brother and a sister, my mom being the oldest. They had a rough childhood growing up and once they got older, my mom and my aunt both moved to the states leaving my uncle behind in Korea. Till the past weekend, they never took a vacation together so it was really special for them! And much needed. I, on the other hand was thrilled to just unplug from the rest of the world for just 3 days to be FAMILY.

After we all got home (4lbs later!), I received an email from my youngest cousin Ruth saying “It makes me kind of sad when I think of how long it will be before we’re all together like that again, but I’ll never forget it.” The truth is, it’ll never be easy to get together like this frequently but wouldn’t it be worth the effort? With that thought in my mind I was thankful to be part of a family that enjoys spending time together just as much as I do.

Here’s our family minus me and 3 other. The Huh’s, Bae’s and the Kang’s.

My brother turned to me the 2nd day and said ‘you KNOW you haven’t taken a single picture yet right?!’ (note the tone) At hind sight, I wish I’d taken more candid shots..

Sometimes even the weather gods are on your side and that is exactly what happened at Judy+Ray’s wedding day. While I was driving up to La Venta Inn at Palos Verdes, I have to admit, I was a little worried. It was an outdoor wedding and during my drive, it started drizzling and the skies didn’t look like it was going to be different anytime soon. We got to the venue and was told by the coordinator that we might have to move the ceremony indoors but that it was for Judy to decide. We waited patiently for Judy to make her final call. As it got closer and closer to the ceremony, the rain stopped and she decided to take her chances for an outdoor ceremony, after all, the ceremony was only 15 minutes long and it was her day! So glad she made that call! Even more glad the weather gods were on their side! whew.

Without further adieu, here’s Judy+Ray’s wedding day! Again, I can’t thank youkeun enough for letting me join him to document this day.
