After making the scrappy trip-a-long at the beginning of the year I made a promise to myself to sew more things just for fun, things for me, things for the family.

These last few weeks I have been cutting and stitching away here and there - mostly there in the late, late night, when the house is quiet and I have a moment to make a strong cup of tea, breathe, then sit and sew.

The pattern I decided on was a must for me, it's called Folk Tale Paths and designed by Emma from Ballarat Patchwork. She designed this quilt to showcase Folk Tale at AQM last year, at the time I was about 11months pregnant.

.......you know, I was huge & about to pop.

So I began cutting and piecing.

As I cut and pieced I watched seasons 2 and 3 of Downton Abbey, I cried in a few places and I pricked my fingers more times than I wish to say.

It was good, real good.

The fabric choice was an obvious one if you look at the shelves in my creative space.

As the blocks grew and I began to love the design even more, if that is possible.

I HAD to finish, I stayed up later, I became addicted.

When I layed it out on the floor in the studio I Instagrammed a picture - you know, that moment when the last block is sewn really is pure bliss.

It was worth every moment, every pricked finger.

I'm almost done

and then I realise I have not taken one photo of Folk Tale Paths during daylight hours. So this might be known as my midnight quilt.....or the Midnight Folk Tale Downton Abbey Quilt

Yes, that name is perfect.

Ask me what the best part of designing fabric is and I would answer simply.

There is no better moment than seeing a creation made with my fabrics, those designs that began as simple sketches in my home studio.

One morning this week while getting the little ones breakfast I checked my Instagram feed and found a message, a tag for @cinderberries on a delicious photo from the other side of the world, I'm not kidding - it made me happy for the rest of the day.

These photos are from the lovely Rachael at Imagine Gnats.

The fabric is 'Oh Deer' from my latest fabric range Folk Tale (one of my favorite prints and colorways from the collection). 

Oh Deer - I even see pearl bracelet lining, a perfect combination.

I totally love that a little girl will wear this one day and dream of dear, porcupines and tiny red capped 'shrooms, play in the park, go to a party, you get my drift.....

Remember that little fairy from some weeks back I shared with you?

Among the busy that is just general daily life it just slipped my mind that I had not shared her with you.....yes she is finished and a new pattern is now available in store.

Her little face is just so sweet and cheeky, eyes wide open to the wonders among the butterflies, following their dance, listening to the secrets.

Can you see the little hand quilted circle around her?

It's my faux 'magnifying glass' - focusing on the little fairy as she twirls.....you might need to close your eyes and imagine just a little.

The fabric I chose for this design is a new Riley Blake one - only just released it's called 'Little Red Riding Hood' and it's totally gorgeous, I also adore the stripe fabric in this collection, perfect for the binding in this design.

Now she is finished, pattern written, photo taken and stock in store

It's all sunshine and lollypops here today.

Time to share a little work in progress - this is what I am working on in the studio.....just a little DMC pearl thread hand quilting with this tiny fairy friend.

She appears quite content.

Time to revamp and old and popular pattern, so I guess I am going to show you something newold.....I know it's not in the dictionary but hey just stick with me.

The latest pattern to join the Cinderberry range is called 'Sew & Store' - it's a sewing compendium, the folder that holds your pattern, note book, mini cutting mat and rotary cutter, pens, pencils, scissors, seam ripper.

Everything in the one place and perfect for travelling or using during stitching days.

This design was first released seven years ago and was known as 'A Stichers Treasure' and while I loved the original design it was tired and in need of a remodel.
