<itunes:summary>Yeah, yeah, Maqlu is one of my pseudonyms.

Anyway, as part of CiTR's annual 24 Hours of Radio Art on January 17th, I did a set playing three of my noise pieces and a mash-up I whipped up last night, plus a sort of spoken word piece called "Lord of the Flies."

Enjoy.

<description>Landscape Body Machine (with interview), Stiff Valentine, Decree, Delerium, Front Line Assembly, Noise Unit&lt;img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/Citr--TheVampiresBall/~4/X0eF5HDl-2A" height="1" width="1"/&gt;</description>
<itunes:subtitle>Landscape Body Machine (with interview), Stiff Valentine, Decree, Delerium, Front Line Assembly, Noise Unit</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>Part 1 was the Vampire's Ball meets CiTR Fundrive. BTW: It's on til November 26, you can go to citr.ca/donate to support CiTR Radio - it's the UBC Alma Mater Society's general donation set-up, so be sure to specify you're donating to CiTR Radio, and you can even make note of it being the Vampire's Ball that sent you that way.

Anyhoo, the first hour featured tracks and conversation with Craig Joseph Huxtable of Landscape Body Machine. Four tracks off the new disc Manifest Destiny and the tales of its making.

Then I played some other great Vancouver-based artists: Stiff Valentine, Decree, Delerium, Front Line Assembly, and Noise Unit.

Be sure to grab part 2 for music from Seventh Image, Fake Shark Real Zombie, Left Spine Down, Skinny Puppy, Images In Vogue, Jakalope and 16 MM.

<itunes:summary>And we continue on our merry way with a little Cabaret Voltaire before getting into some Test Dept. and Smersh - the latter band was one I heard about from Dave "Rave" Ogilvie. And oh lucky day, we have a teensy bit of it buried in the vaults at CiTR that I was able to dig up.

After that, onto some Front 242, some Skinny Puppy and a little cEvin Key solo work closes out the show.

Be sure to also grab part 1 of this week's show, featuring music from Left Spine Down, RevCo, ohGr, Ministry, Electric Hellfire Club, and KMFDM.

<itunes:summary>Love the RevoLucian track. And I think it sets a new record for f-bombs per minute for the Vampire's Ball. :D

This is the first show in our new official timeslot, midnight to 4 AM. To simplify things (or not) I'm splitting the podcast into two parts - be sure to grab both halves.

Part 1 has music from Whitehouse, Left Spine Down, Jakalope, Skinny Puppy, KMFDM, and 16 Volt.

I should maybe warn ya some folks will be offended by Whitehouse. I find them amusing. But then I'm notoriously difficult to offend.

Anyway, this is the first show in our new official timeslot, midnight to 4 AM. To simplify things (or not) I'm splitting the podcast into two parts - be sure to grab both halves. Part 2 has music from Daniel Ash; Trent Reznor with Peter Murphy, Jeordie White and Atticus Ross; Nine Inch Nails; Numb; My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult; remixed Duran Duran and RevoLucian's "Bale Out" which is both hilarious and wicked.

There's some good stuff on remix.nin.com - I'm half thinking it might be fun to pick one remix per week, but I'm not committing to the idea yet.

Anyway, I should also note here there may be changes coming to the podcast feed links, will keep you posted. But if it's not here one week, check citr.ca or thevampiresball.blogspot.com for the latest news and links.

<itunes:subtitle>Left Spine Down, REVCO, Ministry, Rob Zombie, Fake Shark Real Zombie, Stereo-Taxic Device, Killing Joke</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>This week Left Spine Down announced they're going to tour with Revolting Cocks this fall, so while I'll have an interview with kAINE D3L4Y next week with more details, I figured I'd kick things off with a little Left Spine Down and some RevCo going back to Beers, Steers + Queers. And RevCo leads to Ministry, plus I hadn't had time to play anything from my newly acquired copy of Twitch yet. Then I played a little Rob Zombie and some Fake Shark Real Zombie (and got very annoyed with the amount of dead space before a hidden track...) before playing a little of a band I just stumbled upon in the CiTR archive but am digging called Stereo-Taxic Device. (Their stuff is from damn near 20 years ago, but they do have a MySpace, which promised in 2007 that new material was coming soon. I guess it isn't, but whatever, the old stuff is cool too.)

Then I wrapped it all up with a track from Killing Joke.

Questions, comments, requests, justifications for putting 3 minute pauses in one track rather than just doing the Track 99 thing? thevampiresball@gmail.com

Mostly this was a "let's see what stuff I can find in CiTR's vaults" sort of a show, which is always fun for me since I find stuff I haven't heard before (either the specific title or the artist in general).

Bands are as listed in the subtitle.

<itunes:subtitle>Interview with Dave "Rave" Ogilvie</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>So, in the second half of tonight's show, I played the interview I did with Dave Ogilvie on Tuesday. We talked about the new Jakalope CD, old 2"masters and obscure vinyl, Skinny Puppy, promotion and attraction in the digital realm and other things. Around that I played Jakalope, Skinny Puppy, and a very very small portion of the multitude of other things Dave's helped to create: some Einsturzende Neubauten, Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, Genitorturers, Malhavoc, Moev, David Bowie, and Doubting Thomas. Followed by more Jakalope.

<description>kAINE D3L4Y from Left Spine Down interview, etc.&lt;img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/Citr--TheVampiresBall/~4/2UE3CQ2u748" height="1" width="1"/&gt;</description>
<itunes:subtitle>kAINE D3L4Y from Left Spine Down interview, etc.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>So, we start out with an interview with kAINE D3L4Y of Left Spine Down, talking about LSD's creative process among other things.

Then of course we play a few of their newest tracks from Voltage 2.3.

After that, some Frontline Assembly from [FLA]vour of the Weak, some old Skinny Puppy (on vinyl!) from Cleanse, Fold and Manipulate, some Download from Effector, and we close out with Diamanda Galas' wailing.

And by coincidence, everything tonight is either Vancouver-based, or features one track recorded live in Vancouver (Diamanda Galas' "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" from La Serpenta Canta).

As a bonus treat for the live listeners, I've also gotten around to making the first of the post-show mix CDs to cycle on until the Saturday Edge on Folk starts at 8:00am. Trust me, it's some awesome music. You'll have to start tuning in live at http://citr.ca/listen.php

Then into some Kooper Kain and Jakalope (and while playing the Jakalope your host checked their MySpace to discover with glee they're playing next weekend!), then some ohGr from "Devils in My Details," some old Skinny Puppy, some Front Line Assembly, and we close out with some new remixed Left Spine Down. Kick ass, if I do say so myself.
