WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING?

• Encouraging more effective use of Westlaw UK at City • Promoting student attendance at training sessions • Working with us and the Law Librarian to schedule hands-on training sessions • Hosting Westlaw UK legal research clinics each week • Helping the Law Librarian to provide student access to the online services • Running and promoting competitions

NOTE: You will receive full and comprehensive Westlaw UK and Lawtel training.

HOW MANY HOURS PER WEEK WILL YOU WORK?

The position is for the duration of the academic year and you will be required to commit 5 hours per week to the role.

HOW MUCH WILL YOU GET PAID?

Salary: £9 per hour / £45 per week

Aimed at students, trainee solicitors and pupil barristers and entitled: Human Rights - struggling to be heard. It will give participants an insight into the role of human rights, and the HRA in particular, in the political and judicial processes which determine the UK's legal framework.

Well done to all - they will be mooting next in the Supreme Court on Wednesday 7th March. If anyone would like to attend please let Catherine Elliott know (C.Elliott@city.ac.uk). There is room for 30 spectators.

Speakers include:

•  Sunny Jacobs and Peter Pringle, death row exonerees.

•  Professor Julian Killingley and Dr Jon Yorke, experts on the death penalty in

  the United States.

•  Mark George QC, capital trial litigator

  These training courses are becoming increasingly popular and are over subscribed. To apply for a place on the course, please email the Amicus administrator to request a copy of the booking form: admin@amicus-alj.org

The work would consist of assisting with ongoing case organisation, filing (and possibly scanning and organising) precedent cases and filing and organising general material. I would pay (on an hourly rate) but it should also be valuable experience for someone interested in crime or employment in an unstuffy atmosphere. Depending on my work there may be Court days as well.

Oxford University Press are recruiting for their Student Law Panel - where you will be expected to give of your views freely in exchange for credits which go towards purchasing books. You will complete surveys and review new publishing ideas.
