Mamata delivered what she promised, the Singur Land Bill

The West Bengal Assembly on Tuesday passed by voice vote the Singur Land Rehabilitation and Development Bill to enable the Mamata Banerjee led government to acquire the entire 997.11 acres of land earlier handed over to the Tatas for their Nano car project. Now the Bill would be sent to the President for her assent.

As indicated earlier, the Left Front expressed their support to the Bill's spirit of returning lands to the dispossessed farmers but staged a walk- out from the Assembly citing several 'procedural anomalies'. As if to beat the Trinamul Congress with its own stick, Suryakanta Mishra, Leader of the Opposition, demanded that lands would have to be returned to not only those farmers having 400 acres of land and who had refused to accept compensation but to those agriculturists too whose lands fall within the boundaries of Tata's main factory area. In a word, he demanded return of the entire 997.11 acres of land to their previous owners.

The Left Front had two reasons for staging the walk- out and the new demand of the return of land. The walk- out, earlier not included in their plan of actions, had to be effected to prevent a division within the Left Front inside the Assembly. The RSP and the Forward Bloc, now almost on the verge of an open hostility with the CPM, might have voted for the Bill brushing aside all '' procedural objections'' from the CPM. Secondly, in order to counter the CPM propaganda of her being anti- industry, Mamata is now eager to set up alternative industrial units on 600 acres of land which will remain in the hands of the state government after distributing 400 acres to farmers who had refused to part with their lands.

Strangely enough, the Left Front today opposed the Bill's provision of giving compensation to Tatas and other ancillary units and instead maintained that it's the state government which should receive compensations.

The acquisition of Singur land by the state government is going to have tremendous impact on the political economy of West Bengal. Although Mamata Banerjee has decided not to disturb some other industrial ventures, started during the previous regime, industrialists are having a changed outlook.

Already there are hints that Prasun Mukherjee, a nonresident entrepreneur, might proceed with a changed plan of action at Nayachar, an island near the Bay of Bengal, and is expected to set up eco-friendly industries there.

Bundelkhand University announced UP CPMT result 2011

The results for Combined Pre Medical Test (CPMT) which was taken by around 6500 candidates are now out and can be checked on the checked on the official website of Bundelkhand University on http://www.bujhansi.org. As per the reports, around 30,000 candidates have managed to pass the exam, which means that there would be a stiff competition to get a seat in the state medical colleges as the ration of candidates & seats stand at 1:18.

Bundelkhand University, Vice Chancellor S V S Rana, after handed over the results to medical education department informed the media about the candidates who are the part of the top ten list of this year. Harshit Agarwal is on the top with 169 marks out of 200 followed by Shailesh Singh, Anshul Tewari and Utkarsh Agarwal with 165, 164 and 163 marks respectively.

The counseling for admission into various colleges is scheduled to take place between July 13 and 17 and the list of Dental & Medical Colleges in UP can be found on the official website of Department of Medical Education, Uttar Pradesh. The website to check the results is extremely slow at the moment due to the heavy traffic load on the server.

Maharashtra SSC Result 2011 : Students left confused

The declaration of results of Secondary School Certificate examination has been enveloped in confusion. The confusion was further confounded earlier this week with students receiving messages on their mobiles stating that results will be declared on June 15.

The message, in fact, asks the students to visit the official website to check their results on June 15. However, a detailed search of the website did not indicate that results would be declared on June 15. The state government had set a June 15 deadline for declaration of SSC results.

Earlier, the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary education department had declared the Higher Secondary Certificate results a day earlier, however there is no sign on Secondary School Certificate results so far.

The mobile messages, on the other hand, spread like wild fire with parents and students scouring the official website to seek confirmation. Commenting on the spread of such messages, R. R. Bhise, Divisional Secretary, Mumbai Board said, " The state education department decides the date of declaration of result. After the authorities decide the date we receive an official letter stating the date.

Only after that, a formal announcement is made. However, we are yet to receive any such information from the state government and hence cannot confirm whether the results will be declared on June 15 or not." He further stated, "The messages which students are receiving are nothing but a prank. Students are on tenterhooks and some miscreants are creating panic by sending such SMS. Students will be given prior intimation of the date of declaration of results. Till then, students should not succumb to such fake messages."

Mamata all set to move the Singur land acquisition bill today

Learning from her mistake, Mamata Banerjee has grown wiser. Jettisoning the idea of an Ordinance, she is all set to move a Bill in the West Bengal Assembly today for taking over the entire 997.11 acres of land in Singur which was handed over to Tata Motors for the Nano car factory.

Interestingly, the CPM, taking a U- turn, has decided to support the land acquisition Bill, leaving Buddhadev in the lurch. It will only raise some objections as far as the modalities are concerned.

In moving the Bill, Mamata has deviated a little from the stand she had maintained ever since the West Bengal government acquired land for the Tatas. Previously her stand was that around 400 acres of land should be returned to those farmers who had refused to take compensation. But now she has decided to acquire the entire land under the Tata's possession.

This certainly amounts to a hardening of attitude. Political circles in Kolkata find it a little difficult to explain.

But sources in the Trinamul Congress point out that an earlier letter from the Tatas to the Buddhadev Bhattacharjee government expressing their unwillingness to go ahead with the project any more has provided Mamata with a potent weapon. However, according to one group of Trinamul leadership, the real reason for taking over the entire project area lies in the nature of ownership of land before the acquisition.

A little more than six hundred acres of land, on which the main car factory of the Tatas was scheduled to come up, belonged to mostly absentee landlords who did accept compensation from the state government. After Tatas carried out the construction, those six hundred acres have become unfit for any cultivation. Trinamul leaders point out that a cursory offer might be made to the Tatas now for re- launching their Nano project and in the event of their refusal Mamata is eyeing either a railway factory or ventures by any other industrial house there.

There is a strong possibility that the Bill will declare the entire land as "khas" or vested and the Tatas will be asked to remove their possessions.

The Tatas, or the other ancillary industrial groups, might ask for compensation, the quantum of which will be decided by an arbitrator who might be the District Judge of the Hooghly district under whose jurisdiction Singur falls.

Till the time computation of the compensation is complete the Tatas as well as the ancillary unit owners will get an interim relief of 6 per cent of their investment. If the Tatas do not vacate the land within the stipulated time then the District Magistrate of Hooghly will be at liberty to take possession of the land by force.

Delhi University (DU) CATE result 2011 today ?

If sources are to be believed, Delhi University is expected to release the results for over 10,000 undergraduate aspirants who appeared for Delhi University's (DU) Common Aptitude Test for English (CATE) this year, however there is no official confirmation from the university. The various test centres across the university conducted the exam this year where good attendance was observed of eager students and anxious parents.

This year 21 colleges conducted admission tests for English (Honours) through CATE, with over 10,000 students appearing for the exam. The joint entrance test for Bachelor of Business Science (BBS), Bachelor of Business Economics (BBE) and Bachelor of Financial and Investment Analysis (BFIA) were also conducted on the same day.

Six more colleges, including Lady Shri Ram College and Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, have joined the list this year. The joint entrance test, for which 15,500 students had applied, was conducted from 10 am to 12 noon across New Delhi, Kolkata, Chandigarh and Lucknow.

The two - hour long paper had 120 multiple-choice questions on subjects such as maths, English, general knowledge and business application. Every correct answer fetches three marks, while one negative mark is given for every incorrect answer. The examination was tough but achievable, felt Anushree Kalia, a student. “ The maths section was hard enough to keep you sweating through the exam,” she added.

The CATE, conducted between 2 pm and 3.30 pm at 25 centres across the city, went off without a hitch. “ We received no complaints from any of our centres. The question paper too had no problems,” Sumanyu Satpathy, head of DUs English department, said. No more free colour televisions in Tamil Nadu, says Jaya

Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa on scrapped yet another pet project of the previous DMK government, the free colour TV scheme. Only days after scrapping the Kalaignar Kappeetu Thittam (Kalaignar Insurance Scheme), Jaya alleged largescale corruption behind the free colour TV distribution and decided to scrap the scheme.

The free colour TV scheme was one of the most populist schemes in the DMK election manifesto in 2006 and DMK top brass strongly believed that the scheme had played a major role in their victory in the Assembly elections held that year. The party had assured to continue the scheme if they win back power in Tamil Nadu.

Jayalalithaa alleged that DMK introduced these populist schemes not for the welfare of the people but for the welfare of Karunanidhi's family. She said when the government handed over a Rs 2,265 worth colour TV to each household under the scheme, the people were shelling out Rs 4,000 crore per year for cable connections which was monopolised by Maran brothers.

After assuming power, Jayalalithaa has been cancelling all the pet projects of the former government.

Last week, she decided to do away with the housing and insurance scheme named after DMK head and former chief minister M Karunanidhi. She then decided not to form the Legislative Council, which was announced by DMK and also postponed the decision of the previous government to have uniform system of education in the state.

AP Open School Society (APOSS) SSC results 2011 expected today

As per the sources, Andhra Pradesh Open School Society (APOSS) is expected to release the results of around 50,000 students today who appeared in the SSC examinations conducted during April - May this year. The results are expected to come out at around 3:00 pm today.

As per the historical trends, there are bright chances for the students as last year 37,112 studetns cleared the examinations out of total 53,996 and secured the passing percentage of around 68.73 where Nellore district recorded the highest passing % of 89.49 followed by Karimnagar & Nizamabad at 85.81 & 85.33 respectively where maximum number of students enrolled from Khammam followed by Vizianagaram & Vishakapatnam.

APOSS is the initiative of the state government to bring back the drop-outs to school and set the high standards for the literacy rate in state and if the participation of the students is further encouraged, the desired results would be achieved with flying colors.

Karunanidhi advise to Maran : Fight for your own cause

Tainted Union Telecom Minister Dayanidhi Maran will have to fight it alone against the recent allegations of corruption as his party is still reluctant to come out in his support. Former Chief Minister and DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi, has made clear this much and quashed the hopes left among Maran supporters by saying that the Minister will fight the allegations legally and refused to spell out the support from DMK in this battle.

Fielding questions from mediapersons at his Gopalapuram residence here in Chennai, Karunanidhi said, "Maran had already made his stance clear on the issue and he would face it legally." Ironically, the top leaders from DMK, who had strongly defended former telecom minister A Raja on 2G Spectrum allegations, have not come out in defence of Dayanidhi Maran so far. Inside sources in the party reveal that a large section of the DMK cadres are 'happy' with the current fate of Maran and do not want the leadership to rally behind him.

Even after a week of intense anti- Maran campaign launched by the BJP and other Opposition parties, neither Karunanidhi nor DMK general secretary K Anbazhagan has issued a statement in support of him. Karunanidhi, who had been bombarded with questions regarding the party's support for former telecom minister by the media, seems to have consciously decided to isolate him in his fight to prove innocence.

Maran had been desperately trying to gather the party support in his do- ordie battle. However, the DMK leadership has not taken Maran taint as an insult to the party, already reeling under the charges levelled against its leaders in 2G spectrum.

Party insiders say the '' cease- fire agreement'' between the Maran brothers and Karunanidhi family, after a brief period of '' intense war'', was just a political decision and the embers of hatred are still smouldering inside both families. Moreover, the party leadership also suspect the hands of Maran in 2G spectrum exposure against A Raja, who was hailed as the Dalit face of the party by none other than Karunanidhi.

It is also said that the party leadership is now gathering their resources to bring out M P Kanimozhi, daughter of Karunanidhi, who along with Sarath Kumar was arrested by the CBI. And Maran cannot expect the DMK chief picking up cudgels for him in his battle for survival.

So it is time for Dayanidhi Maran to use all his political wisdom to ward off the charges that are propping up one after the other all alone without the support from the cadres or leaders of his party.

CBSE class 10th Patna region 2011 result today, including Bihar & Jharkhand

The long wait for the students of 10th class of CBSE board Patna region is finally ready to end as the board is expected to finally release the results of class 10th Patna Region - Bihar & Jharkhand today i.e. 10th June at around 10:00 am. This year the CBSE board has announced the results in phases and Patna region is last in queue to get its bit where students have been anxiously waiting for a long time to get their results and to fill up the forms to take admissions in the higher classes.

Earlier today, human resource development minister Kapil Sibal made the announcement regarding the descriptive certificate which would be issued to the class 10th students who appeared in the examinations during March - April this year. The certificates, apart from the grades in regular subjects, would contain grades for performance in attitude, values, physical and health education.

In class 12th results which were declared in the last week of May, Patna region recorded the passing percentage of 71.20 where girls secured 81.10 passing percentage compared to only 66.50 of boys. ED makes intentions clear, going after telcos

The Enforcement Directorate has sent its investigation teams to tax havens to unearth alleged money laundering by the companies engaged in the mobile telephony in India. Enforcement Director Arun Kumar made this disclosure while deposing before the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on 2G here on Wednesday. He also gave out the list of ten companies against whom the cases have been filed under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) and Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

These companies are Tata Teleservices, Unitech Wireless, Swan Telecom, Loop Telecom, Estell Ltd, Videocon Telecom, Shyam Telecom, Alliance Infotech, Idea Cellular and Spice Communications Ltd (now merged with Idea Cellular). The JPC, which decided to take a month's summer break to meet again on July 7, was told that the Enforcement Directorate interrogated 52 persons to nail these companies.

The frauds of these companies busted by the directorate include oversees financial transactions by way of FDI (foreign direct investment) through purchase of equity and preferable shares and debentures by non- resident persons. All these firms prima facie violated the FDI ceiling of 49 per cent that requires no government clearance and 74 per cent with the permission of Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB), Arun Kumar disclosed.

Briefing reporters after a day- long busy schedule, JPC chairman P C Chacko said nine former telecom secretaries, including arrested Siddharth Behra, have been summoned to depose before the committee between July 7 and 9. Politicians will be examined after the JPC is finished with these bureaucrats.

Chacko said the JPC is taking a month's break as by that time the CBI would have filed the final chargesheet to help its member MPs to accentuate the probe. CBI chief Amar Singh indicated to the JPC during deposition on Tuesday that the final chargesheet will be filed by June 30.

The officials examined on Wednesday besides the Enforcement Director were Telecom Regulatory Authority (TRAI) Chairman J S Sarma, Central Board of Direct Taxes Chairman Prakash Chandra, Financial Intelligence Unit chief P K Tiwari and Secretaries of the Finance Ministry.

The TRAI Chairman told the JPC that his authority is not sitting idle. It has given 11 reports on the 2G spectrum allocation to the government. He admitted that the New Telecom Policy (NTP) of 1999 and the TRAI Act requires the Department of Telecom (DoT) to seek the regulator's recommendations on terms and conditions of the telecom licences, but these recommendations are not mandatory.

Dr Sarma pointed out in response to a query that the regulatory authority cancelled 74 licences issued between 2006 and 2008 due to non- compliance of obligations. He added that it was TRAI recommendation given on August 20, 2007 not to put cap on any telecom operator in any service area and give additional spectrum to both CDMA and GSM service providers, provided they fulfill obligations.

Rajasthan Board Class 12th Arts results 2011 coming today

The Board of Secondary Education of Rajasthan (BOSER) is all set to release the results of Senior Secondary (Class 12th) of Arts Stream today at 4:15 pm. The board has already published the Commerce and Science stream results on 21st and 27th May respectively.

The passing percentage recorded in the Science stream results has gone down to 85.42% compared to 87.58% of last year, however majority of the students manage to secure the first division. The trend, which can be seen in almost all the state level boards, has been followed as girls have outshined the boys so far in the results declared.

Board issued a merit for the first 10 positions in the Science stream results and same is expected to be replicated in the Arts stream results, however majority of the students who make it to the list are from private school as out of 25 students in merit list of Science results, 22 were from private schools and just 3 from Government schools.

Admission in professional course, must present Domicile

Mumbai: Students seeking for professional courses in Maharashtra will have to provide the domicile certificate at the time of admission. As State government made the domicile certificate mandatory during admission. Requirement of domicile certificate for MBA admissions is seeking mixed reactions from students. However, in order to provide quota to students from Maharashtra the Directorate of Technical Education has demanded the domicile certificate.

Directorate of Technical Education Maharashtra informed media that it is mandatory to submit domicile, caste, and income certificates while applying for the central admission process. Other states like Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra also wants to give priority to the local students.

The sudden rise in the demand of domicile certificate has led to extreme pressure on the Tehsildar office. Explaining the strenuous procedure Manas Kedar, Tehsildar from Andheri said, " Domicile certificate is granted to students who from past ten years have been a resident of a particular state. The individual has to submit the necessary documents in order to seek the certificate. Initially this certificate was limited to the school admission procedure.

However with the inclusion of MH-CET and MBA admission the demand has suddenly increased making it difficult for us to maintain a proper data. We are at present granting the certificate keeping in mind the future of students." However acquiring the domicile certificate is far easier through the online procedure. We have to fill the form and present the receipt to the local tehsildar office and seek the certificate within 24 hours. The manual procedure is tedious and time consuming.

Punjab Board (PSEB) 12th class result 2011 today ?

If sources are to believed, results of more than 4 lakh students appeared this year in class 12th examinations is expected to be released today by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB), Mohalim however there has been no official communication or update on the PSEB official website. PSEB vice-chairman Dr. Suresh Kumar Tandon earlier confirmed that the bar code technology is used to prepare the results this year to bring the timely results, unlike the previous years, to students of their performance.

Some changes have been made this year to avoid the errors encountered in merit list last year as a Delhi-based agency has prepared the result after which PSEB review committee has thoroughly reviewed the results. These results can be checked on the official website of PSEB on http://www.pseb.ac.in, and on several other results portals. To get the get the results on mobile via SMS, type PSEB12(space)ROLL NUMBER and send to 56263.

Dr. Suresh Kumar Tandon also confirmed earlier that the class 10th results of PSEB would be released after the 8 days of declaration of class 12th results, however the use of bar code technology in preparation of class 10th results could not be confirmed.

Union Cabinet approves OBC expansion list

The Union Cabinet on Thursday approved expansion of the central list of the other backward classes (OBCs) to include more castes and communities from 14 states and two union territories. The states in which this expansion has been cleared on the recommendation of the National Commission for Backward Classes include Goa, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Rajasthan and Karnataka.

The official announcement did not specify the benefited castes but said the exercise will be completed with the follow- up action by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment to amend the respective central lists. Their inclusion in the central list would enable them to avail the benefits of reservation in Central Government services and posts as well as in the Central education institutions, thus contributing to the goal of equality and inclusiveness, the announcement said.

Meanwhile, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) raised by more than 60 per cent the post matric scholarships to scheduled tribe students with retrospective effect from July 1, 2010 and revised the eligibility criteria to extend the scheme to wards of parents and guardians whose annual income is Rs 2 lakhs instead of Rs 1.45 lakhs.

Besides revision of maintenance and other allowances to enable the ST students pursue their studies in the recognised institutions, the courses for which the scholarship is available have also been regrouped. Courses have been divided into four groups. The revised scholarship at the highest level for the professional courses group is Rs 550 per month instead of Rs 330 in case of day scholars and Rs 1200 instead of Rs 740 for the hostlers.

Similar revision in other groups is: Rs 530 instead of Rs 330 for day scholars and Rs 820 instead of Rs 510 for hostlers in Group II, Rs 300 instead of Rs 185 for day scholars and Rs 570 instead of Rs 355 for hostlers in Group III and Rs 230 instead of Rs 140 for day scholars and Rs 380 instead of Rs 235 for hostlers in Group IV. Their book grant for correspondence courses is raised from Rs 750 to Rs 1200 per annum, while the annual study tour charges are revised from Rs 1000 to Rs 1600 and thesis typing and printing charger per annum from Rs 1000 to Rs 1600.

CBSE class 10th Guwahati & Bhubaneswar region results today

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has been releasing the results this year in phases and here comes the turn of anxiously waiting class 10th students of Guwahati & Bhubaneswar region as board is expected to release this results today i.e. 4 June at around 10-11am, however the time has not been confirmed by the board officials yet.

Before this, Board announced the results of Ajmer, Allahabad, Chennai, Delhi and Panchkula Region on 1st June and the results for Patna region is still pending. CBSE is also expected to release the controversial AIEEE results in the coming week as well, if sources are to be believed on 7th June. There has been lot of speculation about the dates of results of class 10th in the absence of any official statement from the board.

However, there has been smiles for the students after the results are declared as Ajmer region has recorded the record 99.11% passing percentage where only 0.77 % got compartments, results of other regions have been impressive as well. The girls have yet again outshined the boys in the results declared of all regions so far.

UGC has 13 fresh applications for deemed university tag

Notwithstanding the Supreme Court seized of substandard institutions getting the status of deemed universities, the University Grants Commission has taken up 13 fresh applications for grant of the same status. Those lining up for the prestigious status include Indore's Prestige Institute of Management and Research, Mumbai's National Institute of Industrial Engineering, Pune's MAEER MIT World Peace University and Hyderabad's National Academy of Agricultural Research Management and Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology.

Among the applicants are even the institutions who unauthorisedly call themselves universities like PGP University, Namakkal, Raffles Millennium University and Dr Maggu's GSBA University of Greater Noida and Isabella Thoburn University, Lucknow. Three applications each are from Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, two each from Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra, and one each from Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Chandigarh.

Academicians as also former UGC chairman ashpal are shocked at the commission proceeding with grant of the deemed university status to new institutions when its past grant of the tag to institutions of questionable quality are under the Supreme Court's scanner.

The UGC officials, however, justified reopening of the process of recognising the institutions with the prestigious status, asserting that the proposals are being processed as per the UGC (Institutions Deemed to be Universities) Regulations, 2010 that removed the past anomalies.

The commission has set up expert panels to inspect the facilities at these 13 campuses and suggest whether they deserve the deemed university tag. Grant of the deemed university status to dozens of institutions in the past came under severe criticism as undeserving in a review conducted by a Human Resources Development Ministry- appointed panel.

Mandated to examine all the 130 existing deemed universities, the review panel recommended cancellation of the status of 44 as they were "unworthy" of being called university and wanted the ministry to give three years to another 44 to correct their shortcomings in quality. The ministry accepted its report, but it could not strip the " unworthy" institutions of their status as some of them moved the Supreme Court.

Allahabad High Court slams brakes on land acquisition in Greater Noida

The Allahabad High Court decision on Monday striking down the acquisition of 170 hectares of land from farmers in Greater Noida has come as yet another blow to the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government led by Mayawati in Uttar Pradesh. In fact, the entire issue of land acquisition in Greater Noida has snowballed into a major embarrassment for the state government.

The Greater Noida township adjoining New Delhi has been promoted as a big achievement of the UP government, involving several top builders and real estate developers who had promised dozens of high- rise residential buildings, green townships and commercial properties. Monday's court decision is the third instance of the Allahabad High Court cancelling the land acquired by the UP government.

Nearly 100 farmers of Gulistanpur village had approached the HC against land acquisition by the Greater Noida authority for " Planned industrial Development" in February 2008, and 656 farmers were promised 132 crores for the acquired land.

With the recent agitation by farmers of Bhatta- Parsaul villages leading to the death of three villagers still being fresh in public memory, there are bound to be fresh demands for the cancellation of the entire land acquisition process in Greater Noida especially with the " urgency clause" of the Land Acquisition Act also coming under a cloud.

Both Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have been attacking the BSP government for its handling of the farmers' agitation against land acquisition. The issue will be raised at the forthcoming national executive meet of the BJP in Lucknow, said a BJP spokesman. The Congress spokesman said the party will intensify its agitation against the "anti- people" policies of the government.

CBSE Chennai Region class 10th results expected today

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) amidst of all the heat over paper leak of AIEEE and delayed result of Class X this year is all set to publish the results of the latter of Chennai region which covers Maharashtra along with 9 other states and union territories. Anxiously waiting class 10th students of rest of the regions would still have to wait for some more time as board is still in the process of evaluating the results.

As per the official update on the CBSE website, results for Chennai region of class X would be declared today i.e. 31st May, however the time for these results has not been mentioned, if sources are to be believed these would be available on the site at around 10am after which students can check it on http://cbseresults.nic.in.

Chennai region earlier scored a tremendous 91.32 passing percentage compared to 81.71% of the rest of regions in class XII this year which set the expectations bar quite high for the class X results. The anxiety would end soon as the results are scheduled to be published today.

Jharkhand Board (JAC) Secondary (Class 10th) Results Today

The wait for lakhs of anxious students who appeared in the secondary examinations of Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) this year would end today as the results for the same would be published today at 11:30 am.

Education Minister of Jharkhand Baijnath Ram along with Secretary Mridula Sinha and Director of Secondary Education F Soreng would be declaring the results as per the sources from the HRD department. The results would be made available on the official website after the official declaration.

These results can be checked on the official results portal of Jharkhand Academic Council on http://jharresults.nic.in, once published. Students can also register themselves on the mentioned site with their Roll Code, Roll Number and Email ID to get the results in their mail box.

PM goes tough on ministries for no action on Shunglu report

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has fired a missile at all ministries concerned with the Commonwealth Games (CWG) to act within two weeks on the irregularities pinpointed by a high - powered committee headed by retired Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) V K Shunglu.

Sources in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said Dr Manmohan Singh is angry over no action taken by the ministry even two months after the Home Ministry had circulated the Shunglu Committee's 534-page report for action.

Asking the concerned ministries to furnish in two weeks answers to the issues raised in the Shunglu report, the Prime Minister has asked them to keep him informed of differences, if any.

The Sports Ministry and the Urban Development Ministry, whose ministers were shunted out after the Games as also Delhi''s Lt Governor Tejinder Khanna and Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Muncipal Corporation of Delhi, the New Delhi Municipal Committee and CWG organising committee''s arrested chairman Suresh Kalmadi had come under severe criticism in the Shunglu report.

The report blasts Kalmadi for running the organising committee like a club, misusing powers and neutralising dissent by removing top officials who objected.

Chief Minister Dikshit rejected early this week findings of the Shunglu committee as "self contradictory" and blasted it for lack of understanding on her government's role in conduct of the CWG. Her stand is that the Delhi Government had only supervised the CWG - related works while the execution was done mostly by the BJP led municipal corporation or by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) which does not come under the state government.

CHSE Orissa Plus Two (Class 12) Result 2011 today

The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) of Orissa would declare the Plus Two (Class 12) results of Plus Two Arts, Science, Commerce and vocational courses today at 10:00 am for which the examinations were conducted earlier this year during March - April.

There were some rescheduling in the dates of examinations dates of Biotechnology, Geology & Electronics as dates were very close to the two national-level entrance examinations which were All India Pre-Medical Entrance Test (AIPMT) and IIT-JEE will be held on April 10, however timely result were assured by the CHSE controller of examination J Behera.

AIEEE 2011 result expected soon

Over 10 lakh candidates who appeared in this year All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) have had no clue till now about the results of this year entrance after the paper leak controversy took place on the day of the examination, however the Supreme Court provided them a clear picture after rejecting the CBSE plea for conducting the fresh test for all the candidates and ordered the board to declare the results with 2 to 3 days.

The verdict came on out on 27th May after which CBSE officials outside the court confirmed to media that they will abide the decision and would release the results as ordered. According the statement, results shall be out anytime today or tomorrow, however there has been no official confirmation on the CBSE website till now confirming the date and time of the results.

AIEEE is conducted every year to select about 26 thousand candidates from over 10 lakh applicants for admissions into the National Institutes of Technology and other engineering colleges in the country but this has been a year of controversies for AIEEE as the biggest entrance examination authorities faced much heat since the paper got leaked before the examination earlier this month.

As the result fever dies down, the biggest universities of the nation gears up for the college admissions where Delhi university has plans to conduct the operation online Mumbai University has disclosed the admission pattern of various streams.

The university has passed a circular of the admission pattern in various colleges, and according to the circular the forms for first year students would be sold from May 30, till June 14. Accordingly, the collection of forms would be between June 6 and June 18.

First merit list would be displayed on June 20, and the payment of fees will be till June 22, the second will be displayed by evening of June 22 and payment of fees will be from June 22 to June 27. The third merit list will be on board by 27 June, and students can pay their fees till June 29, and the last list would be disclosed by June 29 and fees should be paid by June 30.

To avoid a mess within the colleges, the university has allotted a specific number of seats to the students, who wish to enroll themselves into the graduation programmes.

The university has allotted wider number of seats to commerce faculty, counting up to 1,11,504, followed by Arts, Science, Information technology (IT), Law and lastly fine arts. The university has allotted 44,498 seats for Arts, 32,192 for Science, 20,955 for IT section, 5,325 for law and 336 seats for fine arts. The total student's enrolling themselves in the graduation program would be expected around 2,14799.

There were comparatively lesser seats, the previous year. As per this year, even last year more preference was given to commerce faculty, by allotting 86, 519 seats, followed by 32, 387 seats for Arts, 14, 521 seats for Science, 9,950 for IT, 9,950 for law and 314 for Fine Arts respectively. 2,03,483 had enrolled in the University graduation program in 2010- 11.

West Bengal Board (WBBSE) Madhyamik results 2011 expected today

The wait for over 10 lakh students of this year's West Bengal Board of Secondary Education (WBBSE) Madhyamik would end today when the results will be published today of the examinations conducted this year.

Madhyamik examinations this year was full of controversies as the board had to cancel the physical science exam and postponed it after the students were handed over the physical science paper in Dinhata when they were supposed to write the history test.

Later on, political drama surrounded the whole incident amidst the news of paper followed by which WBSSE had to conduct a press conference to assure the students and parents the fair examinations and timely results.

So here are the results, as assured, which can be checked after 11:00 am on the official results portal of WBSSE on http://wbresults.nic.in, once declared. The results can also be accessed via SMS as students shall type WB10 (space) roll number and send it to 56263.

Defence Estate Officer eats up her words on Adarsh land

A day after telling the commission probing the Adarsh housing scam that there was 'no record' to show that the land on which Adarsh building now stands is owned by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and that instead, it belonged to the state government, Defence Estate Officer Geeta Kashyap on Wednesday told the panel that the land was 'disputed'. Kashyap took this U-turn in her reply during crossexamination by Commission's counsel Dipan Merchant when he asked if she was aware of any record to show that the land was handed over by MoD to the State government and then subsequently occupied by the Adarsh CHS.

Merchant was reffering to an affidavit filed K B Nayyar, Under Secretary in MoD, in a petition before the Bombay High Court. The affidavit stated that " the Army was in occupation and possession of the entire Adarsh land and until possession of the plot appears to have been obtained from the Army by the state government and made over to the petitioners (Adarsh CHS)." "Are you aware when possession of the land was given by Army to the state government?'' asked Merchant.

Kashyap replied that she was not aware of any such handing over of land. Adding that the DEO would normally know of handing over of possession of all defence lands. When Merchant further asked if she was not aware of the ' transaction' because it was not Defence land, Kashyap disagreed.

She said it was not because the army was not in possession of the Adarsh land, that the DEO does not have any record regarding the transfer, but because it was a " disputed piece of land." When questioned about what steps were taken to " recover possession of the land and solve the dispute", Kashyap said apart from her report dated November 6, 2010 sent to her higher authorities ( Principal Director, Defence Estates) no other action had been taken.

"The DEO cannot suo moto institute court proceedings, that is the job of the MoD," she added. Kashyap said she is not aware of any suit filed by MoD or DEO to recover possession of the land or to settle the dispute.

Kashyap however admitted that she was aware of the Adarsh building coming up after she took over in October 2008. When asked whether she informed her superiors about the 31- storey building being a security threat, she replied that apart from her November 2010 report, she had not pointed out about the threat to any authorities.

The Commission will cross examine Major S K Lamba of the Mumbai Citizens Group. Lamba has filed an affidavit before the commission alleging that the state government had illegally handed over the plot of land to the Adarsh CHS. Lamba has also claimed that the Army was in physical possession of the land for over 40 years and that the state government did not have documents to prove they have ' clear title' of the controversial plot.
