The 1975 – Chocolate

The band’s self-titled debut album is out this September, co-produced by Arctic Monkeys collaborator Mike Crossey. You can check out this new Brit-pop band live in concert Sunday, October 27, at Venue in Vancouver.

Bastille – Pompeii

Legend has it the band calls itself Bastille since the frontman and main inspiration, Chris Smith, was born on France’s Bastille Day, July 14. ‘Pompeii’ was an absolute smash earlier this year in their native England when it made it all the way to #2 on the UK Chart.

City & Colour – The Lonely Life

‘The Lonely Life’ is the second single from Dallas Green's new album, The Hurry and The Harm, released last June, which debuted at #1 here in Canada (#16 in USA) and was instantly certified GOLD.

The Civil Wars – The One That Got Away

Just like Kings Of Leon The Civil Wars have also released 2 new singles in the last few weeks, ‘The One That Got Away,’ and ‘Dust To Dust.’ Both songs are on the Grammy-winning band’s sophomore, eponymous album.

Daft Punk – Lose Yourself To Dance

Daft Punk returns with the follow-up to one of summer’s biggest hits, ‘Get Lucky.’ Once again the French duo uses the same killer formula for ‘Lose Yourself To Dance.’: Pharrell Williams sings lead vocal, the legendary Nile Rodgers keeps it moving on guitar and Daft Punk do the rest. The result is simple, brilliant, sophisticated dance-pop.

Dawes – Most People

From Los Angeles this band sounds very much like descendants of another SoCal mellow mafia don, Jackson Browne. It’s no surprise to read on their Wikipedia entry that they are part of the neo-Laurel Canyon Sound, citing influences such as Crosby Stills & Nash, Neil Young, Jackson Browne, and others of that same ilk.

Elvis Costello & The Roots – Walk Us Uptown

Elvis Costello has been such a regular drop-in musician on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon that he has formed a special relationship with the House Band The Roots. The result is a very special collaborative effort titled, ‘Wise Up The Ghost,’ which is due for release September 17.

Kings Of Leon – Supersoaker / Wait For Me

Moby ft Cold Specks – A Case For Shame

Moby offers us a slice of his upcoming new album, ‘Innocents,’ due for release October 1. The brand new single, ‘A Case For Shame,’ features the vocals of Cold Specks, which is a pseudonym for a Canadian singer whose musical style has been described as doom soul with a certain influence of American deep south gospel a strong Goth streak. Compelling results.

Tom O’Dell – Another Love

He’s only 23 years old but already he has won a Brit Award for Critics’ Choice in 2012 and this song was a massive hit across Europe earlier this year including his native England where it cracked the Top 10.

Tedeschi Trucks Band – Part Of Me

This husband and wife combo, Susan Tedeschi and Allman Brothers acolyte Derek Trucks, returns with a taste of their upcoming new album, a soulful, southern blues track titled ‘Part Of Me.’

Vampire Weekend - Unbelievers

Fresh from headlining duties at Squamish Music Festival, Vampire Weekend has come out with the second single from their new album, ‘Modern Vampires Of The City.’ This one owes a certain debt to another New Yorker by the name of Paul Simon.

Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes – Better Days

It’s the latest slice of pop bliss from Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes – from their forthcoming eponymous, new album, due out July 23.

Jack Johnson – I Got You
A song about what matters in life from the Hawaiian-born folk rock singer-songwriter, surfer and filmmaker. The full album, ‘From Here To Now To You,’ is expected September 17.

Jets Overhead – Beach Dream

Their most recent album, ‘No Nations,’ was produced by Neil Osborne, lead singer of Vancouver’s own 54-40 and was mixed by Grammy winnerMalcolm Burn, a longtime Daniel Lanois collaborator who has worked in the past with the legendary Bob Dylan. This new Jets Overhead single features sweet harmonies from husband and wife duo Adam Kittredge and Antonia Freybe-Smith.

Portugal The Man – Purple, Yellow, Red And Blue
Originally from Wasilla, Alaska (Sarah Palin is the ex-mayor) and now based in Portland , Oregon, Portugal The Man returns with more infectious pop from their most recent album, ‘Evil Friends.’

Raine Maida – SOS

It’s the second single from the Our Lady Peace frontman Raine Maida. He’s appearing live in concert at the Osheaga Music Festival in Montreal the first weekend of August but no other Canadian tour dates have been confirmed yet. Stay tuned to CKPM for more details.

Tegan and Sara -How Come You Don't Want Me

This is the latest slice of infectious pop from Tegan and Sara's seventh studio album, 'Heartthrob.' This is the newest album from the Canadian rock duo and has secured them their highest chart position to date debuting at number 3 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Daughter - Human

'Human' is from Daughter's debut album, 'If You Leave.' The London based trio quickly climbed the UK charts and entered the top 20 in the first week of their release.

Mumford and Sons - Babel

This is the title track from Mumford and Sons' second studio album. Just like their first album, 'Sigh No More,' it was produced by Markus Dravs.

The National - Don't Swallow The Cap

The National is an indie rock band from the US that formed in 1999. Their songs are written by lead singer Matt Berninger and the rest of the band consists of two pairs of brothers. Reminiscent of Nick Cave.

Phoenix - Trying To Be Cool

Phoenix started as a garage band based out of the lead singer's house in Paris, France. 'Trying To Be Cool' is the second single from their most recent album, 'Bankrupt.'

City and Colour - Harder Than Stone/Of Space and Time

These are both from City and Colour's newest album, 'The Hurry and The Harm,' which made it to number one on iTunes Canada its first week out. The band is touring Canada throughout the summer.

Atlas Genius – If So

This is the second single from their debut album, ‘When It Was Now,’ which is in stores and online now. This new band from Australia is touring across Canada this summer.

Divine Fits - Chained To Love

This Canadian – American supergroup is back with their first new single since last year’s ‘A Thing Called Divine Fits’ album. The new song, ‘Chained To Love,’ was recorded just before South By Southwest a couple of months ago.

Dylan Murray - Taking It All In

He's a Toronto native who is also the very first signing to Nelly Furtado's new record label, Nelstar. He blends many different styles of music including pop, folk & reggae. Sometimes he mixes them all in the space of less than 3 minutes.

Ed Sheeran – Lego House

English songwriting sensation, his debut single, ‘The A Team,’ was nominated for a Grammy for ‘Song Of The Year,’ and he performed the song with Sir Elton John at the ceremonies. His new single, ‘Lego House,’ is starting to make its way up the charts. Not bad for a 21-year old kid.

Fleetwood Mac - Sad Angel

Fleetwood Mac, without Christine McVie, have returned with a 4-song EP simply titled 'Extended Play,' featuring a 40 year-old Stevie Nicks song called 'Without You,' and three new Lindsey Buckingham songs including 'Sad Angel.' Fleetwood Mac performing live in concert at Rogers Arena May 19.

Frank Turner – Recovery

This English folk-rock singer just released his fifth solo album, ‘Tape Deck Heart,’ from which we’ve picked the song ‘Recovery’ to play. Turner was one of the musicians invited to perform at the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Imaginary Cities – Bells Of Cologne

Imaginary Cities is a Winnipeg-based music project that just released its second album, ‘Fall Of Romance,’ from which you’ll hear the single ‘Bells Of Cologne.’ Their 2011 debut album made the Polaris Music Prize long list for Best Canadian Album of the year. The new record was partly recorded here in Vancouver and co-produced by Howard Redekopp (Tegan and Sara, Said The Whale, The New Pornographers).

Imagine Dragons - Radioactive
