The aspiration behind all my novels is to share journey the Lord took me
on through my own canyons and valleys of loss to eventual emotional
healing in Him. I share different aspects of that journey in my books to
encourage others in their own struggles.

And there you are: The valleys and canyons of Washington State are another set of the metaphors in Sofi’s Bridge.

Here is an excerpt from a favorite character of mine, Kiosho, a
delightful elderly Japanese man who in his youth mined for gold with
Sofi’s grandfather shortly after they both immigrated to the US in the
late 1800’s.

Sofi watched her sister drift from pillar to pillar on the wraparound porch, a look of perplexity stamped on her face.

Kiosho dried his hands on a tea cloth while Sofi pushed out a sigh. “I don’t know anymore, Kiosho. So little improvement in Trina.”

Kiosho took her elbow and shook it. “Remember, Sofi, what I used to tell you. The love of God, all around. Like these mountains that circle this valley. First, Trina and you must go through different canyons of sadness, but He will bring you out to open spaces.”

I live in a valley exactly like the fictional valley in the Cascade
Mountains that Sofi and Neil escape to with her sister. Except, my real
valley is just across the border in Canada, but still in the same
beautiful range of mountains and glaciers. One day as I was going
through a personal heartache, our pastor preached on the love of God,
and used the metaphor of the mountains that encircle our real-life town
nestled in the Fraser Valley. I know these mountains. I know this
valley. I know each change on the faces of my mountains as seasons come
and go.

I also know how God can use our greatest heartaches to bring forth our greatest joys. If we let Him.

I leave you with this last excerpt, when Neil, on a high alpine meadow
starts to feel hope for his set of trying circumstances. He’s on the
journey to God and healing, and doesn’t quite recognize it yet, but only
feels the comfort and love coming from his Creator in the majesty
around him.

At the summit Kiosho reined the Clydesdales in and settled them under a shady tree. The wind, carrying a clean pine fragrance, blew unimpeded as though they’d reached the top of the world. Trina jumped from the wagon to run along a pathway strewn on either side with blue and purple lupine, pink phlox, yellow arnica, and red Indian paintbrush. Only a few feet to Trina’s right, the path dropped to plunge into a flower-dotted meadow. Grasses swayed in the breeze.

Neil stayed behind with Sofi, sweeping his gaze three hundred and sixty degrees.

Above the tree line, gray peaks scraped the sky, some still capped with snow. In the distance, pale blue and turquoise ice from glaciers filled crevices between serrated granite heights.

Quiet awe filled his face.

As Sofi watched him, she could only hope that up here for a while he could let go of whatever pain he was hiding from the world, and from her.

protect her sister who is suffering from shock over their father's
death. Charles, the family busy-body, threatens to lock Trina in a
sanatorium—a whitewashed term for an insane asylum—so Sofi will rescue
her little sister, even if it means running away to the Cascade
Mountains with only the new gardener Neil Macpherson to protect them.
But in a cabin high in the Cascades, Sofi begins to recognize that the
handsome immigrant from Ireland harbors secrets of his own. Can she
trust this man whose gentle manner brings such peace to her traumatized
sister and such tumult to her own emotions? And can Nei, the gardener
continue to hide from Sofi that he is really Dr. Neil Galloway, a man
wanted for murder by the British police? Only an act of faith and love
will bridge the distance that separates lies from truth and safety.
AS A SHIELD is one of four planned Davis Morgan mysteries set in a small North Georgia town. Davis, a pastor for almost twenty-five years, returns to his hometown after the death of his wife, to operate a rare and used bookstore. He is promptly appointed chaplain of the small police department and recruited by city officials to write a history of his home town. Mystery and romance seem always to be lurking around the corner for the popular bookseller. The reoccurring characters such as Charley Nelson, young police officer; Amy Morgan, Davis’s young daughter who is an English teacher; her roommate Deidre, who Davis is more and more drawn to as time passes; Miss Helen, the local historian and a host of others add to the fun and excitement.

A visit to little Adairsville, Georgia will surely be a memorable event for anyone who chooses to drop-in. In AS A SHIELD, Davis, through his encounters with two strange villains, comes to experience for himself the truth of Psalm 5:12, “For surely, O Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.”
About the Book: Davis Morgan, having left the ministry after the death of his wife, returns to Adairsville, Georgia, his hometown. There he operates a used and rare bookstore while being appointed chaplain of the police department. He and Charley, a young policeman, after discovering the body of a tattooed man find themselves in a serious battle to bring justice to two strange villains who are threating the safety of Davis's daughter. While all this is going on, Davis is struggling with interpreting his relationship with a young history teacher who happens to be his daughter's roommate. Former pastor, now bookseller/police chaplain Davis Morgan and young
officer, Charley Nelson, find the body of a tattooed man that seems to
trigger a barrage of chaos. The villains turn out to be two strange
thugs with absolutely no scruples. The challenge is to not only stop
them, but also to uncover the identity and motive of their boss. All
this while Davis is in the grip of a nagging guilt over having left the
ministry and a budding affection for Deidre, his daughter's roommate,
seventeen years his junior.

Davis finds his inspiration in Psalm 5:12, "For surely, O Lord, you
bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a
shield."

Today, COTT brings you an interesting and special feature--and interview with the bunco biddies from Julie B. Cosgrove's Bunco Biddies cozy mystery series. You don't want miss meeting these interesting ladies who equally love a game of Bunco and solving a crime. . .

“Hi, I’m Mildred. That mean ol’ Edwin—the one they found diced in the
dumpster, you know?—lived next door to me. While they were preparing his garden home here at Sunset Acres for resale, the realtor found the most unusual thing…a baby!”

“In the bathtub, right Mildred? Oh, I’m Ethel. Mildred is staying with me until a condo on our side of the community comes available. Can you blame her after all the shenanigans going on next door to her?” She shakes her head.

“Well, I can’t.” Another biddy raises her hand as if she once again sat in the third grade. “I’m Betsy Ann. I power walk with Janie and Ethel, and sometimes Mildred, in the mornings. We all play Bunco together on Thursday evenings after a scrumptious pot luck meal.”

“Yes, everyone brings their latest recipes from the internet.” Mildred nods in agreement.

“Or sometimes we share an old family recipe. Anyway, we,” she points to the other ladies, “and my, um, friend George…”

“Friend? Phsaw.” Ethel swats the description away like a pesky may fly. “Friends don’t make your cheeks blush, my dear.”

“Ahem. As I was saying…” Betsy Ann crosses one leg over the other and tugs her skirt over her kneecap as her cheeks turn crimson. “We helped Janie help her son-in-law, Chief Detective Blake Johnson, solve Edwin’s murder. So naturally we will investigate why anyone would leave a newborn little girl abandoned in a bathtub of a vacant home in a retirement community.”

“As soon as she rallies us together tonight.” Ethel taps her forefinger to her temple.

“The newborn? I hardly think she has the mental capacity yet to…”

“No Mildred, Janie.” Ethel chuckles.

“Oh.”

“To finish my sentence, you can guarantee, she is already plotting. Her late husband was a renown detective and she often helped him puzzle the mysteries out.”

Mildred leans in. “Speaking of guarantees. Mrs. Jacobs need to fulfill the one in our owner’s agreement and find me a condo pronto. I like you Ethel, and you are a dear to let me bunk in, but our dogs are just not compatible.”

“Because your Poopsy yips day and night. Oh, and you leave your toothbrush dripping on the bathroom vanity counter.”

“Of course I do, since you won’t let me use a glass from the kitchen.”

“It might shatter. One did a few years back. I still have the scar on my thumb, see?”

Betsy Ann whistles. “Ladies. Please. The baby?”

“Oh, yes. Well, I know Blake deserves a long vacation with his family, so you can…” she clears her throat and winks,”…guarantee the Bunco Biddies will help him find out who place the tot there and why.”

Betsy Ann’s auburn curls, which she insists are her natural color, bounce in agreement. “Yes, we will. I was a reporter for the local newspaper for over twenty years so I know how to investigate crime.”

“She wrote the house and garden section.” Mildred sighs. “But, what choice do we have? I sure hope we don’t get deeper in trouble than we did the last time.”

Ethel pats her shoulder. “If we do, never fear. I now have four Alamoville policeman’s cell phone numbers on speed dial.”

Betsy Ann leans in and whispers in Ethel’s ear. “If she lived today, Miss Marple would be proud of you.”

“Thanks, Betsy Ann. I have all thirty-two books and short stories, you know.” She raises her chin in pride. “In alphabetical order, and sub-categorized by murder method.”

Betsy Ann and Mildred exchange glances and respond in unison. “We know.”

Shoba will take us behind the scenes of her unique new novel and give us a glimpse into her writing.

Shoba, why did you choose to write this type of novel?
Social status and cultural barriers makes for great conflict. Child of Dust is like a modern-day classic of Romeo and Juliet only instead of opposing families, these lovers, Kim and Bryan have cultural and social barriers to contend with.

Kim, the rich and spoilt socialite who loses her money is taken under the wing of her reluctant chauffeur, Bryan, who has his own struggles to deal with. They find love under the most unexpected circumstances.

Can you tell us why you started with an Asian setting for your first two novels?
I was founder of Agape Christian magazine in Malaysia. I also freelanced for the leading English, secular newspaper in Malaysia, The Star. My feature stories forThe Star were several page write-ups with gorgeous photos. Many of my stories were selected by the features editor to be cover stories as well.

As I interviewed people all over the world for Agape, I saw God moving powerfully in Asia and yet there were so few stories coming from there especially in the Christian romance genre.

In Asia, Christianity is seen very much as a Western culture. Yet so many Asians have had powerful encounters with Jesus Christ. Then there is the struggle to validate their faith in the midst of culture, tradition, loss of identity, social stigma and so on.

There alone you have so much material for backdrop, tension, drama, conflict and final resolution.

An example of what I mean can be seen in my short story Finding Enlightenmentthat was awarded second place at faithwriters.com. It can be read here:http://www.faithwriters.com/wc-article-level3-previous.php?id=54362

Talk a little about your unique setting.

When I read novels I am drawn to the backdrop and setting. A great description of the setting subtly woven into the story is what makes the difference between being a narrator who takes a person on a journey through his "telling" and a facilitator who steps out of the way altogether to allow the reader to explore the journey on his own. The writer should aim to be the facilitator and not the narrator.

There is nothing like a great setting to make the reader feel like they are there with the characters. It is like the difference between watching a 2D and 3D movie.

Unfortunately, many formulaic romance novels that are churned out in quick production-line succession fails to capture this allure of setting because it takes research and time. It is also not easy to write setting discreetly in the background and that is the only way to write it. Otherwise it will seem like reading lecture notes instead of a story.

I read one review of a multi-cultural romance set in an Asian country where the reviewer said she felt like she was reading a tour company's brochure and that is the wrong emotion to invoke.

So another reason I wrote Child of Dust was to give romance readers a chance to explore unique settings and backdrops not normally experienced by a reader in the current trend of romance novels available out there.

We'd love to hear a little about the historical background for your novel. Will you talk about that?
The main character, Bryan, Kim's chauffeur has been deeply affected by the Vietnam war in the sense that he is the illegitimate child of an American GI and a Vietnamese woman. This historical background sets a different dimension to the story and adds intrigue and authenticity.

Who would you say is the audience for this novel?

Child of Dust is an appealing read for anyone. As I have also written for the secular press, I am able to write in a manner that appeals to all walks of life both Christian and non-Christian. I have had non-Christians tell me they were so engrossed in the story that they didn't not notice the message of the gospel woven into the story. Yet that message is undoubtedly there.

I am an inspirational writer and everyone loves a good inspirational story just as they love watching a Hallmark movie.

What readers have to say about the novel:
"Make sure when getting ready to read Child of Dust that you don't have anything else planned for the day, you won't be able to put this book down. I could go on and on about this book. Highly and strongly recommend it. Is it possible to give a book 10 stars?" --- Debra Dunson, reviewer at The Edgier Christian Fiction Fan

"I found the writing of this story to be close to excellent.... I found this book to be one of the most enjoyable books I have read in a long time. It was interesting, the story kept moving along, and I learned a lot as I read this story. I found myself intrigued with the constant difficulties faced by the protagonists – and their stories were presented so much more like real life stories than any other book I have read in a long, long time." --- Marina, Community Writer, California

"This novel has a consistent rhythm, adding surprise after surprise, twisting our emotions at each new difficulty Kim faces. I couldn't put this book down, waiting to see if any or all the ends would be tired up. I would actually like to see the novel transcend into a movie. An amazing read." --- Brices Mice Christian Book Reviews
A funny, heartfelt romance about how an antique shop, a
wardrobe, and a mysterious tea cup bring two C.S. Lewis fans together in a
snowy and picturesque Oxford, England.

Emelia Mason has spent her career finding the dirt on the rich and famous. But
deep down past this fearless tabloid-reporter façade, there’s a nerdy
Narnia-obsessed girl who still can’t resist climbing into wardrobes to check
for the magical land on the other side. When a story she writes produces tragic
results, she flees to Oxford, England—home to C.S. Lewis—to try and make amends
for the damage she has caused.

Peter Carlisle was on his way to become one of Great Britain’s best
rowers—until he injured his shoulder and lost his chance at glory. He’s
determined to fight his way back to the top even if it means risking permanent
disability to do so. It’s the only way he can find his way past failing the one
person who never stopped believing in his Olympic dream.

When Peter and Emelia cross paths on her first night in Oxford, the attraction
is instant and they find common ground in their shared love of Narnia. But can
the lessons from a fantasyland be enough to hold them together when secrets of
the real world threaten to tear them apart? Cobblestone streets, an
aristocratic estate, and an antique shop with curious a wardrobe bring the
world of Narnia to life in Kara Isaac’s inspiring and romantic story about
second chances.
Guest post By Janet W. Ferguson

Back in my single days long ago, I went on a few bad dates. How about
you? What if you were the queen of bad dates? My heroine in Blown
Together, Elinor Bosarge, has had more than her share of really bad
dates. So much so that she rather stick to writing her romance novels
than try her luck in the real world of dating again.

Then comes Sam Conrad, a sort of jaded hero with his own string of bad
luck at romance. The battle was on. Who had endured a more pathetic
dating history?
A bunch of my friends and I had a blast brainstorming funny dates we’d
experienced ourselves or we’d heard about. It is fun years later to
laugh about those strange or even horrendous experiences. Not so much at
the time.

I’m not sure what it says about me or my friends, but we came up with so many bad dates, I couldn’t use them all in the novel.

Here’s a few we left out.

When a guy’s wife interrupts your date… didn’t tell you he was married…

On your first date, your date confides he has PTSD, and sometimes thinks violent thoughts…

The chain cigar smoker…

The date who talks in a loud voice to you all during a movie…

The first date with a guy who picks you up wearing white overalls and no shirt…

And there were more.
Let me confess, I’m likely someone’s bad date story. None of us are perfect, right?

I hope you enjoy reading Blown Together and maybe even laugh as you remember a bad date of your own!

Have you heard a funny dating story? NO NAMES of the offenders please.
When love storms in…

Wealth manager Sam Conrad is accustomed
to his domineering father ordering him
around, especially at the bank where
they both work. But when his father
demands that Sam manage the inheritance
of his bossy ex-fiancée, Sam has finally
had enough. He leaves in search of a new
life, and attorney Big Roy Bosarge from
Mobile, Alabama agrees to mentor Sam on
his quest for direction. Sam didn’t
expect to be thrown together with Big
Roy’s eccentric and opinionated
daughter.

Storm damage forces lonely romance
writer Elinor Bosarge and her hairless
cat, Mr. Darcy, out of her Fort Morgan
Beach cottage. She plans to take refuge
in the boathouse on her parents’ estate,
but finds the place already occupied by
one of her father’s “projects.” She’s
shocked her father would allow another
young man onto the property after his
last mentee robbed her family and broke
her heart. And from the moment she meets
Sam Conrad, they disagree about
everything from her cat to how to best
renovate a local nursing home.

Between her mother’s health issues and
the hurricane brewing in the Gulf,
Elinor feels like her life is being
ripped apart. It doesn’t help that she’s
falling for the man she’s determined not
to trust. Sam finds himself drawn to
Elinor, wanting to help her and this new
family he’s grown to love. But can he
overcome the barrier she’s built to keep
him out? When the storm rages and the
two of them are blown together, can
Elinor find the faith to open her heart
again?
<span style="color: #595959; font-family: "times new roman" , "serif"; font-size: 10.0pt;">I’ve
read Dangerous Alternative already and really enjoyed it—the diving scenes were
very realistic, the plotline was fast-paced, and the hero/heroine were easy to
cheer for. Edge-of-your-seat suspense!

The South, Football and Life

by: Janet W. Ferguson

In the South, most of us love football. It’s something we talk about, cheer for, and spend time watching with friends, whether in person or as a group viewing it on TV. The adrenaline seems to flow as the leaves begin to turn from deep greens to those fall yellows and oranges, a chill touches the air, and those pads and helmets are put on.

My husband played high school football. He was a center. I’ve always watched the sport at whatever school I attended, and of course, in Mississippi, a lot of us follow the SEC games. I never thought a whole lot about why we enjoy watching so much or about the injuries the players battle with—until my son played the sport.

His junior year, he tore his ACL and his shoulder labrum participating in this sport he loved. And he was not able to make a comeback. I saw the game through different eyes as he struggled with the loss. He missed the comradery, the goal, the discipline, the friendship. Everything about being a part of a team.

While he was going through three of four surgeries that he ended up having, I began writing Tackling the Fields. It combines this love for a game with the loss of a dream for one character and the loss of innocence for another. It was a challenging, almost painful, book to write. But in the end, God heals our wounds and helps each of us recover from our broken places.

He’s there to free each of us from the heartaches that try to take us captive.

About the book:

Cole Sanders is a changed man. The university
quarterback questions his direction in life after serving on a mission
trip in Honduras. Things that used to fill Cole’s ego seem empty after
witnessing the developing country’s extreme poverty and the death of a
precious child. The one glimmer of hope through his confusion is the
fresh perspective he now has about his tutor, Audrey. She possesses
something beautiful inside and out—something that might help him become
the person he wants to be.

University senior Audrey Vaughn
tutored Cole Sanders for an entire year and never imagined the popular
quarterback would see her as anything more than a friend. After
partnering with him on the mission trip, they are drawn together. And he
appears to have changed for the better. To let Cole into her life,
Audrey will have to overcome not only her brother’s distrust, but also
the paralyzing fear still lingering from a past she’s tried to leave
behind.

Cole can’t walk away from Audrey now that they’re back
in Oxford. He’ll have to figure out how to keep her giant of a brother, a
lineman on his football team, from killing him when the coach has his
back turned. But can Audrey trust her heart to a player so similar to
the one who stole so much from her in the past?

2016 Olympia Award Champion.

We took a few moments to get to know Jennifer a little better, and now here's your chance to do the same:

Jennifer Uhlarik discovered the western genre as a pre-teen, when she swiped the only “horse” book she found on her older brother’s bookshelf. A new love was born. Across the next ten years, she devoured Louis L’Amour westerns and fell in love with the genre. In college at the University of Tampa, she began penning her own story of the Old West. Armed with a B.A. in writing, she has won five writing competitions and finaled in two other competitions. In addition to writing, she has held jobs as a private business owner, a schoolteacher, a marketing director, and her favorite—a full-time homemaker. Jennifer is active in American Christian Fiction Writers and lifetime member of the Florida Writers Association. She lives near Tampa, Florida, with her husband, teenaged son, and four fur children.

How did you come up with the idea for this book and what made you want to write this particular story?

While working with a few other authors on some novella collection ideas, I came up with the idea of three adult siblings who reunite after being separated by adoption in their youth. This story and the two that follow it are the result of that idea—three strong siblings devoted to law and justice, each in their own way.

What does winning the Olympia Award mean to you?

It is such an honor! I love the Olympia since the first round is judged by readers. That is probably the truest group of judges one can have. And I know the competition is always stiff in contests, so just to final is quite humbling. To win is indescribable (and I’m an author, so that says a lot. I’m speechless. LOL)
Authors get stories from so many different places and experiences. It's always interesting to discover where the inspiration comes from. Today, we'll hear from debut author, Annette O'Hare. Her historical romance, Northern Light has already garnered some terrific reviews!

From the first sentence to the book’s stunning conclusion, Annette O’Hare’s brilliant first novel Northern Light captured my heart. O’Hare’s storytelling is flawless and her grasp of Texas history is spot on. This tenth generation Texan heartily approves! I promise it will be the best book you’ll read in a very long time! —Kathleen Y'Barbo, best-selling author of over 40 titles

There’s a wonderful phrase known to authors that says, write what you know. This simple idiom by Twain, or was it Faulkner, no…I think it might have been Thurber, no it was definitely Twain who said it. Whoever it was knew what they were talking about and that’s why I wrote Northern Light. The setting for my debut novel is the lighthouse on the Bolivar Peninsula on the Texas coast; a place near and dear to my heart. A place I know very well.

When I was a child growing up in Houston, Texas in the 1970’s, my family visited Bolivar every summer for fishing, swimming, and shell hunting. My father would drive our family of five to Galveston, and then onto a short ferry ride connecting Galveston Island with the Bolivar Peninsula.

The ferry ride was a favorite part of the vacation. We made playful bets concerning which ferry we would ride. Would it be the Cone Johnson, the E.H. Thornton Jr., the R.S. Sterling, or the Gibb Gilchrist? We knew each boat by name. My two older brothers and I would save back French fries and pinches of bread from our fast food meals. After the boat was loaded and the captain gave the safety speech, we would bolt for the back of the boat to feed the seagulls and dolphins.

I always knew the exact place the ferry would dock at the peninsula because Daddy told me to look for the landmark. It was hard to find at first, but the closer the ferry came to Bolivar, the bigger it became. By the time the boat landed, the Bolivar Point Lighthouse was as big as a skyscraper in this little girl’s eyes.

Once off the boat we drove past the iron lighthouse. Her light extinguished, she no longer lit the way for ships coming in or going out of Galveston Bay. Daddy always pointed out the two, abandoned keeper’s houses beside the lighthouse. He showed how one of the house’s nameplates read Boyt and the other, Maxwell. I didn’t understand the significance then, but later I realized the connection. Daddy’s aunt, my great aunt, was married to a Boyt, and she and her sister, my grandmother, were born with the surname Maxwell.

You’re probably wondering if my daddy’s family were the lighthouse keepers. No, the truth is that Mr. Boyt, my great-uncle, bought the lighthouse and property at an auction and it has been owned by that family ever since.

The original Bolivar Point Lighthouse dates back prior to the Civil War. In fact, it was during that war that the Confederates completely dismantled the lighthouse. Some accounts say it was so the Union wouldn’t use the light to
their advantage. Others say the Confederate army used the iron for weapons and artillery. Nevertheless, the lighthouse was rebuilt shortly after the war. The great conical tower has seen over 150 years of United States history and it still stands tall on the Bolivar Peninsula to this day.
About the book:

Unable to depend on her father to heal the crumbling family, Judith is
afraid to trust the mysterious neighbor, Ben, who lives with his own
grief. In rural Maine in 1918, Judith Chadbourne gives up her teaching
job after her mother’s death to help her father with her five siblings.
But when her father sinks into deep depression and her brother Joel is
drafted, the household chores and farm work may overwhelm her.
Neighbor
Ben Thayer offers to buy their farm, shocking Judith and angering her
father. An outsider from New York, Ben seems rich and mysterious, but
his heart aches from his own loss. Judith accidentally breaks the
antique crystal Christmas ornament her mother loved. The splintering
star echoes her family’s shattering. Ben’s efforts to help make Judith
suspicious, but when Joel falls critically ill at the army camp, Ben’s
aid brings the beginnings of trust.

After the armistice, the
community and family start to recover from the strain of the war, but
Judith learns independence is lonely. When Ben is injured, she is the
only one who can help him. Can love take her beyond the frozen Maine

A born-and-bred California gal, I grew up in a little community called
Weedpatch. Nope, that's not a typo. It's a few miles southeast of
Bakersfield, and in the...well, I won't say how many years since I left
there...Weedpatch has even found its way onto a map or two.

Writing has been my passion since third grade, when I won an essay
writing contest and took home the coveted prize: a beautiful bed doll
with an overstuffed pink, quilted satin skirt. Remember them? Huge,
padded skirts, some (like mine) with flat cardboard bottoms to
accommodate display. The doll's feet were hidden away somewhere in all
that finery, never again to see the light of day. These fancy ladies
were most often used as centerpieces for beds, and that's where mine
went - smack in the middle of my unimposing bed in my unmatched,
Salvation Army-furnished bedroom. It was the most elegant item I had
ever owned, and I was one proud little lassie. (Ahem ... surely
someone else remembers those dollies?)

Winning that contest made a profound impact on my young psyche - enough
so that I never stopped writing. From those first little songs and poems
and (very bad) short stories, I graduated to Staff Writer for a large
daily newspaper; freelanced for an upper-scale regional magazine; and
finally began writing fiction...which was my goal all along.

About the book:

After ten years in the NFL, super star Gray Fowler is accustomed to obsessive fans. But when Gray starts receiving death threats from a stalker, his team hires an executive protection agency to guard him until the culprit is caught. Dealing with bodyguards 24/7 is a headache, especially when one of them is a young, beautiful woman. How can a female half his size possibly protect him better than he can protect himself?

Dru Porter is a former Marine, an expert markswoman, and a black belt–none of which saved her from disaster on her last assignment. In order to rebuild her tarnished reputation, she’s determined to find Gray’s stalker and, since relationships between agents and clients are forbidden, avoid a romantic attachment between herself and the rugged football player with the mysterious past.

Yet every secret that leads Dru closer to the stalker also draws her closer to Gray. As the danger escalates, they’ll survive only if they can learn to trust their lives — and their hearts — to one another.
