Before the Heat Strikes Back

2014-05-26T21:19:00.000-07:00

For the past few days, Los Angeles has had the pleasure to enjoy some cool
weather before ridiculously hot temperatures returned again.

I, for one, definitely enjoyed the cool pre-June Gloom in LA.
Everyone arounds me knows the I'm very much a fall/winter person rather than a
spring/summer person since I LOVE bundling up in sweaters and layers.
My everyday uniform definitely consists of an oversized sweater majority of the time.

Here's an outfit that I would sport on a cooler day at work or out to meet some friends.

Time Square to SOHO, NYC

2014-05-16T01:46:00.000-07:00

Pictured above: Standard NYC Time Square with the accompanyment of standard NYC yellow cabs.

I'm going to apologize ahead of time. I absolutely failed to make use of my camera on this trip,

so all of my pictures were taken VIA my oh-so-dear iPhone. Here's a small glimpse of my trip to

the big apple and an additional guide to some great eateries in the city.

1. Painting-esque clouds along with a pair of attractive goggly eyes

2. Hillsong NYC held at the Best Buy Theater -- it's never a bad time to connect with Christ, even when traveling.

3. View of my Distrikt Hotel room ft. my sidekick, Mini-Pashli by 3.0 Phillip Lim)

4. SOHO in iPhone panoramic view

5. Corn that is worth waiting an hour to hour and a half for. (@ Cafe Habana)

Let's talk FOOD.

Some eateries I got to try this trip included Pio Pio, Juniors, and Woori Jip. I didn't have much free time after work, so I was pretty limited to what I was able to try. Also, I couldn't miss out on my favorite Manhattan eateries to date such as Cafe Habana, Momofuku Milk Bar, and Laduree.

Woori Jip was our first stop in NYC. After a long red-eye flight from Los Angeles, we just weren't up for hard decisions, so we easily decided to go for some home-style Korean food. Woori Jip had a great selection of Korean "DoShiRak" style food for us to grab to our taste. Since everything was at such a great price point, we were able to grab a few different dishes and share within our group. Thankfully, Woori Jip had a great selection of vegetarian and seafood dishes for Vegetarians or Pescatarians such as myself. Overall, Woori Jip is a great place to go if you are looking for Korean food to snack on or for a delicious cost-friendly, Korean style meal.

Pio Pio was recommended to us by one of our good friends that we made in the city. After searching Yelp and reading reviews, we decided to give it a shot since it was in walking distance from where we were and to where we were planning on heading next. Going into Pio Pio, we were amazed at the great interior of the restaurant and we were extremely astonished that it was such a large restaurant, in comparison to what it seemed from the outside. We were seated and served with great service; unfortunately, they weren't able to make my favorite dish, the Lomo Saltaldo with shrimp to replace the beef that originally comes with the dish. Eventually, I decided to try something new and to be honest, I can't even remember what it was called because it wasn't very favorable for my taste. I had a taster of the Lomo Saltaldo, avoiding the meat, and it was delicious though! Generally, Pio Pio had great ambiance and great service. I highly recommend it for people who are familiar with Peruvian food or people who really like Lomo Saltaldo...

Junior's is apparently already a well known restaurant/diner for their amazing food and cheesecake. A friend of mine was highly recommending it for the cheesecake, so we had to make a stop to try it. It just so happened that Junior's was right by where we were for Hillsong NYC at the Best Buy theater, so timing was perfect. We went in, not knowing what to expect and we were surprised with the wait for seating. Overwhelmed with the wait, we settled to sit at the bar and weren't we glad we did. We were seated and served with great service and decided to try the famous original cheesecake and the red velvet cheesecake. Both were super delicious and very sweet! Junior's is definitely a must-try if you're by Time Square! My friend later told me that the Chocolate Mousse is exceptional, so we'll be back for that one soon.

Cafe Habana is one of my favorite places in the city -- I always order the shrimp tacos and corn!

Momofuku Milk Bar is David Chang's genius dessert stop which I always stop by to get some cookies as souvenirs and to satisfy my cereal soft serve ice cream cravings when the weather permits.

Laudree is obvious queen of all macarons. That is all.

I always have such a great time exploring New York and it's fast-pace urban charm. I can't wait to be back! What are some places that you recommend for my next visit or where are you dying to visit in Manhattan? I'd love to hear all about it!

Happiest regards,
Sally

NET-A-PORTER X GLOSSYBOX + EYEKO

2014-05-01T10:00:00.000-07:00

Browsing through NET-A-PORTER.COM is not a very uncommon thing for me to do, especially with the convenience of iPhone apps. Usually, I'll be drooling over everything an fantasizing about what's on my check off list of things I need to buy... some day, but I ran across their beauty section for the first time (usually skimmed passed it or pin pointed specifically what I was looking at the time). I somehow convinced myself that Net-A-Porter does no wrong ended up purchasing the Glossy Box by Net-A-Porter, in all sense trusting that they probably knew what they were doing when they picked out the beauty products for the box. I also ended up snatching Alexa Chung's eye do mascara after hearing amazing reviews on it.

I can't wait to test out these products and see how everything goes for me!

I love going to the fairfax flea! There are so many neat people and neat things you can find.
This time, I got a chance to see what it's like from the vendor point of view through helping Jack (of MRC)
out with his cool booth. His booth consisted of stylish clothing pour la femme and unique/vintage Nikes which he collected over the years. If you see anything you like, please stay tuned and follow me on instagram (@syjnoh) for updates on when we'll be there next. Hope to see you there next time!

A Not-So Black Friday Haul

2012-12-04T21:21:00.000-08:00

Necklace & Bracelets: Forever 21

Red Sweater & Embellished Skirt: Zara

Tweed Jacket & Boots: Forever 21

I was able to snatch 10% off of my whole purchase at Forever 21, being on of the first shoppers in the store at midnight. Other than that, Forever 21 didn't have many deals available for Black Friday. Zara also kind of disappointed me with the tiniest selection of Black Friday sale items. I was able to purchase the red sweater on sale, but not the gorgeous sequin embellished skirt. I can't wait til their annual winter sale starts!

What kind of deals were you able to find this black friday? -- I'd love to hear!

Karen Millen's The Perfect Dress Event w/ Aimee of Song of Style

2012-11-14T00:02:00.002-08:00

This past Sunday, I was able to catch Aimee (pronounced "Aw-Mee") of Song of Style at Karen Millen's Perfect dress event (after seeing Aimee the event on her on instagram! Follow Aimee: @songofstyle) It was a little frustrating dealing with Century City's insane parking for over half an hour, but it was totally worth it. Aimee was not only styled perfectly, as always, but she turned out to be so amazing and down to earth. Her sister, Dani Song was also there, looking fabulous as well. If you ever end up running into either of the song sisters, don't be afraid to approach them! They're extremely kind and genuine. Both Aimee and Dani took time to greet and chat with me. :-) Aside from meeting these amazing ladies, Karen Millen's dresses

didn't fail to amaze me. Her dresses were pretty versatile in styles and so were her other items.

Classic Essentials : No. 16 The Denim Jacket

2012-10-30T21:13:00.000-07:00

I personally consider the denim jacket one of the classiest, versatile outerwear pieces out there.

It's so easy to match; worn over a cute summer dress for spring or summer and layered for the colder seasons. The acid wash denim jackets are indeed, very cute, but for more versatility and a more classy look, I recommend blue denim washes -- both light or dark.

Classic Essentials : No. 15 Boat Shoes

2012-10-23T22:15:00.001-07:00

If you ask me, Boat shoes are the perfect comfort shoes for a classy, yet casual closet.

They're incredibly comfortable and are very versatile, just like the other classic essentials. Sperry creates amazing, great quality boat shoes, but you can always find more affordable alternatives at many shoes stores. Boat shoes do come in a huge variety of colors, but I recommend sticking to more neutral, basic colors, such as navy blue, khaki, brown, or white. (It'll come in handy to style into more outfits!)
