<p>The Town of Whitecourt is now seeking a new Fire Chief. The Whitecourt Fire Department is housed in a modern facility with excellent equipment and apparatus. Fire Services, working with the RCMP, the Ambulance Service and mutual aid partners, is critical to the safety and quality of life in our community.</p>
<p><strong>Primary Responsibilities:</strong></p>

<p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p>

<li>Serves as Director of Emergency Services, Fire Inspector and Fire Investigator for the County.</li>
<li>Oversees the Bylaw &amp; Safety Officer ensuring regulatory bylaws are current and enforced.</li>
<li>Reviews, develops and maintains the health and safety program for the County.</li>

<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Required Skills and Qualifications</span>:</strong></p>

<li>A diploma or degree in Fire Science, public administration or related discipline is preferred, with a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a position of responsibility and leadership in a Fire/Emergency Service setting, preferably with a recognized municipal fire service.</li>
<li>Comprehensive NFPA training, including NFPA 1051 Standard for Wildland Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications.</li>
<li>Possess excellent organizational, prioritizing and time management skills.</li>
<li>High degree of professionalism coupled with effective communication skills - written, verbal and presentation.</li>
<li>Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.</li>

<p>This new Canadian Union of Public Employees’ position was established to adopt an integrated approach to service delivery; more closely linking bylaw compliance with public education, emergency response, fire protection and RCMP liaison. As such, the Town of Creston is seeking an individual to assist with the ongoing planning, development and implementation of a protective services approach; a multi-faceted position requiring a working knowledge of municipal bylaw compliance and the fire service.</p>
<p><strong>Key Responsibilities and Duties</strong></p>
<p>Reporting to the Fire Chief or Assistant Fire Chief, the successful candidate is committed to serve, protect and assist in providing a desired quality of life for citizens and visitors to the Town of Creston. This mandate is achieved through education to raise awareness of community standards, and enforcement of legislated requirements to ensure timely compliance. The Public Safety Compliance Officer has considerable independence of action and judgement, requiring interpretation and enforcement of applicable bylaws, codes, regulations and policies. In addition to bylaw compliance, the Public Safety Compliance Officer also assumes responsibility for service delivery associated with: public education, emergency response, fire inspections, RCMP liaison, associated administrative follow up and other duties related to a protective services approach. In the absence of the Fire Chief, or other senior fire officer, the Public Safety Compliance Officer may be appointed to assume operational responsibilities of the fire department in relation to emergency incidents.</p>
<p>The position of Public Safety Compliance Officer will be based on a flexible work schedule in order to accommodate attendance at: fire training sessions, public education meetings and special events as directed.</p>
<p>As this is a new position, the wage classification is currently being reviewed under the current collective agreement between the Town of Creston and C.U.P.E. Local 2092.</p>

<p>Beaver Emergency Services Commission invites applications for the position of Regional Fire Chief/ Director of Emergency Management.</p>
<p>Beaver Emergency Services Commission is the first Emergency Services Commission in the Province of Alberta. With headquarters in Viking, Alberta, the Commission provides Fire and Emergency Management services for Beaver County, the Towns of Tofield and Viking, Villages of Ryley and Holden, Hamlets of Bruce and Kinsella. The Commission operates 6 Fire Stations with a total of 129 volunteers.</p>
<p>Reporting to the Beaver Emergency Services Commission Board, this is a full time paid position. The successful candidate will be expected to provide support to the District Fire Chief/ Deputy Regional Fire Chief in areas such as response to incidents, administration, training, budgets and the general operation of the fire service and emergency management functions. The ability to communicate and work with volunteers is essential to this position.</p>
<p>Desired Knowledge, Education, and Experience</p>
<p><span style="font-size: x-small;" size="2">A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Fire Officer, preferably including experience as an Incident Commander. </span></p>
<p>- Working knowledge of applicable Provincial and Municipal legislation, bylaw, and policies.</p>
<p>- Completion of technical training, including NFPA 1001 Firefighter Certification, and NFPA 1021 Fire Officer Certification. NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor Level I, with Level 2 combined with other fire&nbsp;and emergency management training will be considered an asset.</p>
<p>- Experience in conducting fire investigations and fire inspections, certification training in these area’s will be considered an asset</p>
<p>- Demonstrated Emergency Management experience at a senior level combined with formal Emergency Management training</p>
<p>&nbsp;- Certification as an Alberta Safety Codes Officer – Fire Level 2 and Investigator Level 1</p>
<p>&nbsp;- Current certification in First Aid/CPR</p>
<p>&nbsp;- Working knowledge of computers, including Microsoft Office and Excel</p>
<p>&nbsp;- Provide a current criminal records check upon hire.</p>
<p>&nbsp;- A valid driver’s license is required for this position. A driver’s abstract will be requested at hire.</p>
