This is what I wore to Farm Day (the day after the conference) in San Francisco. I had no idea what to expect. I knew I was going to be in a classroom helping my sister, so I needed to dress up a bit. But, I didn't know what I would be doing - I could have had to help move livestock or plant seeds or anything since I was an extra person at our site. So, that meant no blazer. I bought these black jeans at Target to wear on our field trip (two days before this) and I LOVE them!! I don't normally like jeans, but these are great. They look nice and are very comfortable. I added the cardigan for some color and the scarf for some more warmth and color - the combo of green and purple is a favorite of mine. Some flats for running around the city since I had no idea what the parking situation was going to be and for running aroudn the school if needed and there you have it! I really like this outfit!

This is what I wore to the Ag in the Classroom Conference (read about it here). The dress code was business casual and we were told to wear comfortable shoes for the hour long tour of Cow Palace. Adding a blazer to jeans is the perfect way to dress up a casual look in my book! And comfortable shoes that I could walk around for days in that just happen to be my favorite color were perfect too!

This outfit feels very casual to me. I wore it because we were having a lock down drill so I knew I would have to be crawling around the floor and I wanted something I would be comfy in crwling on the floor making sure my kids were quiet. It worked well!

I love/hate this top. I love it because it has stripes and I love me some stripes. I hate it because it has some rouching and makes my belly look preggers. I love it because it is loose and roomy. I hate it because it can be shape-less. I could go on ... but I won't. I want to pair this with a wide belt and a pencil skirt - I think that would work well. What are you suggestions?

Our school does not have ~~much~~ any spirit so a few teachers decided to pick colors and declare Fridays school spirit day. Our colors are not blue and yellow so every Friday I will be trying to remember to wear blue and yellow. Yeah for school spirit!!

Hello all!! I sure have missed you!! I am hoping that I will get back into the habit of taking pictures before work since it is the 3rd week of school already. I wore this yesterday and I was very happy with this outfit. I walked down the hall at least 15 times during the day (most of which was during our last recess as my class practiced the entire recess how to walk down the hall) and my feet were fine.

It is always tough to get back into the habit of doing something, so you will have to be patient with me!

Hello lovely ladies!! I have not posted in a while and by a while I mean way too long. I am sorry but life is really getting in the way right now. My grandpa is sick - and by sick I mean he has cancer and is dying. He is a really great man and it sucks! He is 88 so we knew he wouldn't be around forever but he was very healthy his whole life and this has been so sudden and sad.

This is what I wore to a blogger meet-up two Thursdays ago. It was nice to sit around a chat with them!

I am really low on words today - but I hope you all are having a fantastic summer!! I know my original plan for the summer was to post regularly but it looks like that is not going to happen, so I will try to post as often as possible (by that I mean like once a week) but I may not post until school starts again depending on how life is going here. I have a few outfits to post (including a white trash outfit - at least that is what the boyfriend called it) so I will try to get those up, but there are no guarantees.

On Wednesday I had lunch with "the girls" and it was so great to get to catch up with them!! "The girls" are friends from college - we were in a cohort together and the six of us really clicked and hung out all the time. Now that we are out of college and the credential program and into real life it is hard to find time to meet with them. We are so busy during the school year that we only find time during the summer or over breaks to meet - which is sad.

Anyway, this is what I wore. I LOVE this dress from Walmart!! I am so glad that I got it because I wear it all the time.

I only bought a few things in June but I will post my purchases - hopefully tomorrow! Have a great day and I hope you are all doing well!!

On Friday I went to the Tim McGraw concert. I have every intention of taking an outfit picture but of course didn't do it. So, you will have to enjoy the next best thing - the outfit I wore laid out on the bed for your viewing pleasure.

I have a pair of boots but the last time (Open House) I tried to wear them I realized my feet expand during the day and they don't fit in the evening. So, I have been looking for another pair since. Ispend most of the day on Thursday looking in thrift stores for the perfect pair of boots - really, I was looking for any pair that fit. This was the only pair I found that fit and I was a little annoyed that they were $20. $20 for a pair of used boots? If they were leather I would have no problem spending $20 but they were not - they were fake leather. But, I bought them because they were my only option.

Jean jacket - Kohl's

Since the concert went into the evening, I brought a jean jacket to put over my dress to keep me warm. I also brought a pair of flip flops (in case the boots weren't as comfortable as I thought) and a quilt (to sit on in the grass).

It was a good concert and was nice to see pretty much everyone I went to high school with. I went to a small school and it was funny seeing so many people from high school at such a large concert!

Cleaning and Packing Outfit

I have been working all week in my classroom. I have everything almost moved over to the new classroom. I had to wait for the teacher to pack up all of her stuff and we cleaned out the closet. We had to move all the curriculum from her closet to my closet (my new room to my old room) for the new teacher and to make room for my stuff. It took us a day just to do that! I will be going back today and moving the rest of the stuff. My amazing mom is coming in to help me! I have tons of little jobs for her!

My plan was to get my walls planned out but I cannot seem to think right now! I want to do a theme this year (I have never done a theme but I love the idea of doing themes). I don't want to do just any theme - I want my theme to teach my students, so I am going with . . . agriculture. Not barn yard or western - agriculture. I have searched high and low for ideas and have come up with a few but I would love your suggestions!! There is not much material out there so I will have to be creative with boards and banners and the like. But, I think it will be worth!!

Do you have any ideas for me? How is your week going?

Summer Time!

I am officially on Summer Break (as of yesterday)!! I will still be working in the classroom (hopefully I will get my classroom packed up and moved this week and I can start unpacking and getting ready for next year next week) but the students are gone and I can work when I want to. Last year my summer posts were few and far between so this year I decided to make a list of goals for the summer, so here goes:

Blogging Goals:
- post one outfit per week
- post at least 2 special features (like this post)
- fix my blog roll - take out the blogs that no longer post regularly and add new blogs I love
- work on the new blog
- get on twitter (@classroomchic) more than once a month

Personal Goals:
- finally buy a pair of yellow shoes
- do projects I have been meaning do get to around the house (landry room shelf and counter, landscape the front yard, etc.)
- build up my casual wardrobe
- try to relax instead of spending the whole summer working on stuff for next school year
- clean on the closet in the guest bedroom (from my purge a while back)

What are your goals for the summer?

Sunday Shoes - Flip Flop Fever

It is a ~~beautiful June day~~ dreary rainy day today yet I ~~know~~ think Summer will be here before I know it. I LOVE flip flops - they are so easy to put on and my feet don't get sweaty when I wear them. But, they are not the most stylish of shoes. I used to have a pair almost every color but now I only have 2 pairs and they both have paint all over them. Which means I need to refresh my supply. Old Navy is my store of choice for classic flip flops - especially when they go on sale for $1. They come in so many colors and I don't have to worry about getting them wet at the lake or while washing the car. They even come in this awesome pattern!

I also wanted to find some nicer flip flops. This studded pair from Target would be perfect to wear to the market on hot summer days. I like the looks of this pair and this pair but I would have to try them on to see how they would fit my foot. Sometime flip flops are too high and they hit me at the wrong spot and are uncomfortable.

I like the flower and the fact that this pair is a little bigger. I looks more like a sandal than a flip flop and that dresses it up a bit more. This pair would look nice with a summer dress or shorts or even jeans in the evening.

I have posted about this pair before twice. I love the flower and I bet they are sooo comfortable!! I could wear them with anything and my feet would be very happy!

This pair looks nice - I love the metallic color! Just like the others it would be perfect with dresses or shorts or jeans.

Beautiful pair! Love the flowers and the color and they are sure to be comfortable but at over a hundred dollars these are not going to be in my closet anytime soon. :(

I think I have saved the best for last here - lately I have been obsessed/in love with yellow. I have yet to buy a pair of yellow shoes and I would LOVE to make this my first! They would be the perfect pop of color to any outfit and would get a lot of use! BUT, at almost $90 I don't think I can. But, I will be looking for this pair at Marshalls and Ross!

Last Day of School!!

The last day of school was yesterday and it was also field day. During field day we play games outside. It was unseasonably cold and there was a chance of rain (luckily it didn't rain during field day), so I went with capris to keep me warm yet cool (lol - that just sounds weird), and a polo to add some color and go with the sporty day. Then I put on the jean jacket to keep me warm. I didn't take the jacket off all day or for the after school party that was that evening.

This had to transition from a school day to field day to a staff party then to a graduation party. I changed the capris for jeans and the jean jacket for a coat and scarf for the graduation party since it was in the evening. It was a long day but I am glad that it is finally summer. Well, at least it is supposed to be summer here pretty soon - right now it feels like winter! But, I don't have to water the lawn or the garden (my mom doesn't have to water the garden) so I guess this rain is good!

Boy oh boy was it difficult to get this picture uploaded! Am I the only one have problems? I tried at least 10 times, gave up and tried again 4 hours later and now it works!

I have been wanting to proven (to myself) that I can wear this dress at work. So, this was my try and I am happy! I just added a black tank under the dress and a cardigan over (I added the cardigan here too). Simple but I love the yellow and purple together!

I know I am supposed to be talking about clothes and all of that stuff but it just started pouring again and now it is hailing - this weather is crazy!! I feel like I have no idea what season it is! The calendar says it is Spring (a few weeks away from Summer) but the weather says Winter. My poor dogs are not fond at all of this thunder either. Ok, I am done, moving on. . .

Today was a pretty exciting day! I got an excellent report from my sub from yesterday so we are having fun for the rest of the year (2 days left)!! One of my students asked me to marry him today - I politely declined and told him he was a little too young for me (I am 25 he is 6). After lunch I felt a little breeze on my thigh and looked down to see a hole worn in my capris! LOL I have no idea how long it had been there or what happened - I would think I would have noticed it earlier, but I have no idea! So, now my beloved capris are dead. I even thought I could make them into shorts now above the hole but, they would be too short. So, good bye dear sweet capris. I got my hair cut on Monday and a few of my students LOVE it. I had one before school staring at me and telling me every 2 second as I was walking down the hall how beautiful I am and how much he loves my new hair (he loves-loves it - like really really loves it). Then when I picked them up in the morning some were laughing and telling me I look funny. They aren't all sweet!

I am not sure how I feel about it. Sometimes I LOVE it but sometimes I think it looks major white trash which are totally opposite, so I am still figuring it out. I got a few compliments from people who don't usually say anything - saying how much they "love the hair" - so I know they really like it. What do you ladies think?

I am so behind. I am behind on everything! I have barely started my report cards and school ends next week. The poor boyfriend asked me to clean my stuff up from the kitchen and living room this morning (that was his nice way of saying the house is a disaster and your need to put your junk away) - he has never had to tell me that because I am normally very clean. I am moving classrooms and nothing - I literally mean nothing is boxed up and ready to go. I have a load of laundry in the washing machine right now so I will don't have to go the the farmer's market naked. I have no more clean spoons. I just used the last one to eat a cup of ice cream - which I shouldn't have even eaten. I didn't work on Wednesday or Thursday and I didn't take casual outfit pictures. I guess I should stop complaining and get to work!

But, being an aunt is pretty fun so far! My nephew is adorable!!!! I get to hold him and love him and squeeze him whenever I want to ~~drive 2 hours each way~~. I get to dress him in whatever I want - I bought him (when he was an it) a shirt that says "My Aunt Rocks" and I put it on him on Wednesday when I was up there. It is a 3 month size (is that the right way to say it?) and is way too big - but I made him wear it anyway because it is true. I do rock!

Oh, and by the way - I am having trouble commenting. I will be on a post and write my comment then I will have to sign in again then it will go to the comment preview then I will have to sign in again and back to the preview and back to the sign in. 3 times is enough for me, so I give up at that point. Is anyone else having this issue or is it just me?

Happy Monday all!! Today my nephew, Baby D, was born!! He was born in the wee hours of the morning. As I was getting dressed (sadly going to work not going to see the baby) I was thinking that I don't know how to dress like an aunt. I had no idea what to wear! So, I pulled out this trusty dress a wide belt and my nude heels. I am pretty sure this is very auntish - sophisticated and dependable and a little fun.

Since I am a first time aunt, I would LOVE some advice from an experienced aunts out there!!

I loved this outfit in my head but I don't think it worked out so well - only because it was unflattering. It was another rainy winter like morning (at least it warmer up and cleared up in the afternoon). I know I had to wear something easy because I was going to be testing for a few hours today, but that didn't happen so I was just as comfortable in this teaching. I LOVE this shell (it is sooooo soft) but when I bought it I thought I would put it over a button up and I tried that yesterday but ended up just wearing the button-up. I didn't like being able to see the seams and everything - is that normal or am I doing something wrong?

Simple, simple, simple . . . the top is purple not blue as it appears in the picture. I know it is simple but I am really digging this outfit! The color of the top is beautiful and it fits very well! This is the first time I am wearing it and I hope it fits as well after I wash it! Sorry about the horrible picture, I guess I am forgetting how to take pictures of myself. I took yesterday off and I tried to take a picture of my casual outfit but they all turned out fuzzy! Today I at least got one that isn't fuzzy!

You may have noticed that I got my Gentle Souls heels back from Kenneth Cole! They fixed them and sent them back and now they are good as new! Well, really they are better than new because they are broken in and amazingly comfortable!

In other news - we have 12 days left of school and I am pretty excited about summer!! I have zero plans but my students are very ready to go on break and I am ready too!

The Perfect Jeans

Hello lovely ladies (and gentlemen if there are any)!! This week has been crazy but now Open House is over and the year is starting to wind down (that is teacher talk for my students are over learning and it is like pulling teeth to get them to try their best on the massive amount of testing the end of the year brings). I haven't taken a picture of my outfit since Monday. I would like to blame it on not having enough time in the morning to take pictures but really it is because I feel like a whale. I know, I know, I know . . . I am not fat - but I am a little overweight and I don't feel good since I have been eating crappy food all week. Anyway, I am rambling and I need to move on.

I know how amazing and stylish you all are and I would love some recommendations for jeans. I have a pair of Calvin Klein jeans that I LOVE but I think I need to add a few more pairs of jeans into my wardrobe. I also LOVE this pair but they stretch so much and are now too big - I even but them in the dryer (I always line dry jeans) after every wash and they fit fine when I put them on but within an hour they get the saggy butt thing and I have to pull them up every 10 seconds. I also just bought some trouser jeans that I loved - they are Gap too and are saggy and don't fit right after a few hours of wear. I really loved them the first two times I wore them but they just don't feel right now. ~~Maybe I am just cranky?~~

So, this is where your amazingness (spell check says this is not I word - I disagree) comes in - please tell me your favorite jeans. boyfriend jeans, trouser jeans, wide legged jeans, straight leg jeans, boot-cut jeans . . . I would love to hear your recommendations for each style! Do you love Lucky jeans or Old Navy jeans or ___?

Monday and No Floral for Me

Yesterday I went up to help my sister (who is massively preggers and due next week) at a local food event. I knew her friend Sarah would be there and she is super stylish - I had every intention of taking an outfit photo of her at the event but that didn't happen, so you get boring old me . . . sorry! She had a great black and brown combo going and some beautiful wooden jewlery. She said she felt frumpy - but her frumpy translates to my fantastic.

I struggled with what to wear to this event. It was to promote local food which has a hippy and relaxed vibe but it was at a winery which has a more dressed up vibe. It was windy so I had to wear jeans but I wore dark wash jeans to make myself feel a little more pulled together. I threw on a T and wore my brown boots (and a brown apron) and put on my chunky necklace to dress up the outfit. I was pretty happy with it! It was a great casual outfit.

Today is Everybody Everwear: Floral day but I have nothing floral - so, if you participated I can't wait to see your outfits!! I'm back to work tomorrow so I will be back to my work clothes too.
