\”General Motors and Segway on Tuesday will take a two-wheel concept vehicle for a spin around New York City that\’s designed to ease congestion and pollution problems in cities.

The prototype vehicle, called Project P.U.M.A. (Personal Urban Mobility and Accessibility), is based on the Segway Personal Transporter but it seats two people sitting down.

P.U.M.A runs on lithium-ion batteries and go up to 35 miles per hour and have a range of 35 miles between charges.

It includes some high-tech touches, including GM\’s wireless OnStar communications technology that could let a passenger locate other drivers in a city.

The two-wheeler is meant to address the mounting problems of urban car transportation, according to the companies which will unveil the vehicle at an auto show in New York.

\”Imagine small, nimble electric vehicles that know where other moving objects are and avoid running into them. Now, connect those vehicles in an Internet-like web and you can greatly enhance the ability of people to move through cities, find places to park and connect to their social and business networks,\” said Larry Burns, GM\’s vice president of research and development, and strategic planning, in a statement. \”

I going to make this simple.

\”Green roof incentives part of newly introduced \’clean energy stimulus\’ bill – Under section 506 of the bill, residential and commercial property owners will receive a 30% tax credit for qualified green roof expenditures. The tax credit applies to both new and retrofit projects.\”
-Source

\”I visited a greenhouse that sells plants for green roofs and also toured a green roof at Sanford School,\” Pineo says. \”I got pretty excited about the environmental benefits of green roofs. They capture and manage stormwater, reduce air pollution, insulate buildings so that they are cooler in summer and warmer in winter, and attract pollinators.\”
-Source

\”Economic Benefits – cost savings opportunities for the building owner include:

* Protection of roof membrane resulting in a longer material lifespan (it is estimated that green roofs will last up to twice as long as conventional roofs), resulting in decreased maintenance and savings in replacement costs;
* Savings on energy heating and cooling costs, depending on the size of the building, climate and type of green roof. Using a Micro Axess Simulation model, Environment Canada found that a typical one storey building with a grass roof and 10 cm (3.9 inches) of growing medium would result in a 25% reduction in summer cooling needs. Field experiments by Karen Liu in Ottawa Canada, found that a 6 inch extensive green roof reduced heat gains by 95% and heat losses by 26% compared to a reference roof.

Sound Insulation

* Soil, plants and the trapped layer of air can be used to insulate for sound. Sound waves that are produced by machinery, traffic or airplanes can be absorbed, reflected or deflected. The substrate tends to block lower sound frequencies and the plants block higher frequencies.
* A green roof with a 12 cm (4.7 inches) substrate layer can reduce sound by 40 decibels; a 20 cm (7.9 inches) substrate layer can reduce sound by 46-50 decibels.\”
-Source: greenroofs.org

So the casting of the net (trend) is very small right now, but the footprint may end up being very large. Think hotels, commercial buildings, schools (Especially), and private homes. The benefits are large. I think one of the most important items here is attracting pollinators. Without them we can\’t grow our foods and recently articles like this explain the problem.

So my trade off this? SMG – Scotts Miracle Grow.

One company I found trying to green corporate offices around the world is Captaris (stock symbol: CAPA).

Large companies can use an estimated 400 billion pages of printer paper a year; that’s 18,253,333 trees converted to paper generating four billion pounds of carbon every year for a single company on a single item—paper.

Captaris has a couple of key products that green an office environment and the two most important are these:

-Captaris RightFax – Fax Server, Email to Fax, Fax Over IP & Electronic Document Delivery Software

-Captaris Alchemy Document Management Software

This is what I\’m looking for in the stock chart:

Whichever President wins the election next week, they have both placed greening America one of the top priorities. This trend will extend for the next 4 years and beyond.

There are some serious solar stocks that are bargains right now.

We know that the solar trend is here to stay because its not a competing fuel with petroleum so lower petrol prices don\’t affect its growth.

One of the biggest obstacles to solar is the initial cost. The recent bailout bill had a major earmark for potential solar customers. The drawback is that the waning economy is going to cause middle class buyers to not purchase solar systems. However, wealthier individuals are now more likely to buy a setup.

So with that said, lets look at the solar stocks that are rated cheap on a fundamental valuation basis.

All of these solar stocks have PE\’s under 10 except for CY, but its PE is 10.5.
JASO, TSL, SOLF, SOL, LDK, CY (technically a semi co. with a large stake in SPWR), CSIQ, YGE, SOLR, CSUN, STP, and ESLR.

So if the same growth prospects are still on the table for solar companies, then these stocks are cheap.

There is a reason I haven\’t been posting here in awhile. That is because there have not been many green plays at all. I mean the market has been decimated. I have been short for awhile and have had amazing trading days off this volatility and you can follow what I\’m doing at StockRake.com. However, the clean energy sector has been terrible and there just hasn\’t been any plays. In fact, I thought FSLR was a short on StockRake on September 9th.

Now after this second huge drop in the market, I want to take a look at my scans….

The only two stocks that look like they could make a move here higher are:

FTEK and CREE.

The market is crap here, so be careful.
