Dans ses œuvres, le guitariste espagnol Carlos Piñana marie flamenco traditionnel et virtuosité moderne. Né à Carthagène, Carlos Piñana est issu d’une famille dépositaire d’une longue tradition de flamenco. Musicien, compositeur et enseignant, il est l’un des représentants majeurs de son art, où se mêlent formes traditionnelles et influences modernes. Pour ce concert, il s’est entouré du guitariste Rainer Maria Nero, du percussionniste Miguel Ángel Orengo et du duo de danseurs de flamenco Mamen Baños et Guillermo Ramos. Revivez avec “The Journey of Instruments” quatre millénaires d’histoire de la musique: l’oud a voyagé de la Mésopotamie à l’Andalousie en passant par la Perse, préparant le terrain à l’apparition d’instruments apparentés. Parmi eux: târ en Iran, sitar en Inde, guitare, luth, rebab et mandoline en Europe. Ce cycle en cinq volets, parrainé par le virtuose irakien de l’oud Naseer Shamma, met en lumière l’influence de l’oud sur l’émergence de traditions musicales qui, depuis, continuent de se féconder mutuellement. Inaugurée en 2017 à l’initiative de Daniel Barenboim, la salle Pierre Boulez porte le nom du compositeur français décédé en 2016. Cet auditorium conçu par l’architecte Frank Gehry séduit par sa forme elliptique qui favorise une proximité unique entre artistes et public. Son acoustique exceptionnelle est signée Yasuhisa Toyota. Avant de devenir danseur, Marco da Silva Ferreira a d’abord été nageur de haut niveau. Dans cette première vie, il a connu la rigueur et la discipline, qui, des années plus tard, inspireront une chorégraphie où la danse et l’univers du club se confrontent à des thématiques de plus en plus prégnantes dans notre société : virilité toxique, violence, autoritarisme… À ces tentatives de contrôle des corps et des esprits, le chorégraphe oppose des mouvements libres et résistants. Un jeu de miroirs entre militarisation et militantisme se met ainsi en place pour décortiquer les interconnexions entre systèmes d’oppression. Par une danse engagée, Marco da Silva Ferreira et ses sept interprètes — évoluant sur une scène surélevée évoquant un ring — célèbrent l’émancipation par le mouvement et le dialogue, rendant possible « de taper du pied avec douceur ou de se déhancher en uniforme ».
