The Jazz is originated from the United States and was born in the early twentieth century by the African-American community in the southern United States with the confluence of African and European musical traditions. Jazz is not just music, it’s also a way of life! Jazz is the son of blues’ melancholy with heavy usage of improvisation, often syncopated swing rhythm and tone of melancholy as the use of blue notes. Jazz has from the beginning incorporated into its own language genres of American popular music from ragtime, blues, classical and pop music of the great American composers. More recently jazz has become blended with all kind of modern music including non-Americans, like the samba, and Caribbean music such as rock. Jazz has been changing throughout the twentieth century and has evolved into a variety of different styles and subgenres just from the early New Orleans Dixieland to the big swing bands of the thirties and forties to the bebop of the second half of the forties to cool jazz and hard bop of the fifties and the sixties and from free jazz to fusion of the seventies and finally to the contamination with funk and hip hop of the following decades.

Boogie Boogie Man of Pino Daniele

I want to tell you about a new album made by an artist born in Naples (Italy), Pino Daniele, to whom I owe my first steps into the world of blues and jazz. The CD that has strucked me the most in his career is called “Vai Mo” made in 1981.<br />
The title of his new CD is “ Boogie Boogie man” and is rich of blues latin and melody. With his newest work Pino Daniele wanted to illustrate a kind of anthology revised and expanded throughout his career. The album includes ten songs including two new ones while the others are re-arranged for the occasion, some in duet with important Italian artists such as J. Ax, Mario Biondi, Mina, Franco Battiato, while other songs have been reinterpreted in a blues style very close to his productions of the seventies.<br />

Lee Ritenour 6 STRING THEORY

<p$1><p$1><p$1><p$1><p$1><p$1>I was just listening to the new album of Lee Ritenour (6 string theory), a guitarist who has won 19 Grammys! The blue notes that, for expressive purposes are sung or played flattened or gradually bent (minor 3rd to major 3rd) in relation to the pitch of the major scale, are also an important part of the sound.<br />
The blues genre is based on the blues form but possesses other characteristics such as specific lyrics, bass lines and instruments. Blues can be subdivided into several subgenres ranging from country to urban blues that were more or less popular during different periods of the 20th century. Best known are the Delta, Piedmont, Jump and Chicago blues styles. World War II marked the transition from acoustic to electric blues and the progressive opening of blues music to a wider audience. In the 1960s and 1970s, a hybrid form called blues-rock evolved.<br />
The term "the blues" refers to the "blue devils", meaning melancholy and sadness; an early use of the term in this sense is found in George Colman's one-act farce Blue Devils (1798).Though the use of the phrase in African-American music may be older, it has been attested to since 1912, when Hart Wand's "Dallas Blues" became the first copyrighted blues composition. In lyrics the phrase is often used to describe a depressed mood.<br />
