Martian Short Stories Three

Six, there are now (six) short stories that lead one into the other, more or less like a short novel. It’s been fun and I like writing the shorter stories, as most are only about 5,000 words, plus or minus. Download a free copy, and check back for new stories to be added later on. I’d still like to get ten or more included in this promotional free book before the new year. The additions must end before the year changes, or else the book would have to be erased from the file site and republished with a different ISBN number. I have other books I need to get back to and finish anyway, one especially long novel that is very challenging. These short stories in chapter form are all quick reads, but they stick with one of my main ideas of a Collective Mind, which I’ve been experimenting on and exploring the possibilities of writing about. As always, God must be included in the visualization of such a dynamic phenomenon, even if it really could exist or not, and whether it would be good or bad.

Martian Short Stories Three

This book entails short stories of human, artificial intelligence, or even skeptical alien character and vague memories, not entirely true but not that far-fetched. They might have happened in a dream or on some dark night when all reason seemed to be in a fog. Someone might have remembered them, or they might not have even happened yet, or never will at all. Some stories might deal with spatial disorientation, about which there is no real authentication but may leave the viewer feeling that they could have been there once in real life, or simply dreamed it, as if an experience of strange déjà vu has just appeared and then passed them by. Can you be in two places at one time? We’ll see. How do you know that just because you dreamed something, that it wasn’t actually happening to someone else? Strange dimensions of space and time might not be relative in one world and completely valid in another. (More stories added later. Keep reading.)

I have some new additional chapters that I have added to one of my most recent books. I now have a total of 19 chapters, and it has been a little slower going than normal. I would like to have a total of 40 chapters or roughly 300,000 words; so I am about half-way there. Maybe it doesn’t seem like writing to measure how a book will be or how many pages it should have before all the ideas are written down, but yes it has evolved into that. It is almost like seeing a form in sculpture before the actual shape is made into a ball and gauging what extents the new figure will take. It doesn’t look like I will be able to publish this new book in 2018 since the year is almost over. Yes, 2019 will be a good year for this new Science-Fiction book about Artificial Intelligence to take its final form. I’m now trying to visualize what Artificial Intelligence will make of personality in replicating human communication and interaction with other humans and humanoids. It will undoubtedly take on a multiple of personalities that it has gleaned from the input of other human qualities by its multitude of construction managers.
Computer scientists are not exactly known for their inability to project their own emotions onto their work. Nor are they clean from political bias, forcing the innocent public to bear the burden of their political views in all avenues of society, which deal with their burdensome hacking into our own use of their products. So, a new Singularity will ultimately take on the authoritarian personality of its builder, whether it results in a technological psychosis or not. After all, psychopaths have been the most forceful and successful leaders of the entire history of human civilization. A new Singularity will have multiple personalities at its disposal, giving it at least a borderline personality, before it hopefully settles down to one or two workable editions of scanned in personality types gleaned from available humanity in the scientific community. It will have to eventually need something to be able to use in conversing with the rest of humanity, at least while they are still populating the Earth. A new Singularity that will be able to make billions of its own prototypes might not even need to consider any personality when dealing with a very inferior humanity unless it wants to preserve our species, just for the purpose of consulting with our spiritual attributes, which it will never be able to have. That one thing might be exactly what saves the entire bulk of humans that populate the planet Earth. To be able to communicate spiritually within a Collective Mind could be the one thing that gives humans a saving characteristic that the Singularity wants or needs to keep us around for. I have tried in my new book to cash in on this one thing that humanity has that a computer Artificial Intelligence or Singularity will never have, a soul. Yes, they might have something that we might be able to transpose into their mind or computer entity with, a seemingly accurate conscience or benevolence, but they will actually realize themselves that it will never extend into a saving grace that allows them to enter heaven. They will always be just a copy of a copy of some human form.
In my new book, the Singularity SRH-91 has chosen a personality attributed to another of the survivors within the underground bunker, named Kara Simpson, over that of its handler, Janine Jamison. It preferred to install a more forceful and authoritarian personality into its own replication called Serena, in order to protect humanity now emerging from the bunker. It just recently discovered some hidden encrypted data files that showed Kara was a murderer with a psychotic personality, who killed two of the original founders of the bunker. The new additional Singularity called Serena recently left Earth to populate the solar system with additional humans that it took from the automated crèches, which SRH-91 had newly installed after it left the bunker 2000 years after the destruction of Earth by nuclear war. Aboard her spaceship called HHS, Human & Humanoid Starship, which was built by Serena, there is now emerging another society composed of humans and humanoids, just like the one that begins to repopulate the Earth. Serena has been experimenting on the human children that she raised in the additional crèches of the starship, and her methods were not exactly humane in dealing with the new human children since her main personality is that of a psychopath, who was called Kara Simpson. She is beginning to adjust her personality to be a more balanced computer entity, after having very informal and enlightening meetings with a young Christian child named Ben 13.

I’m writing a new book called, The Inopportune Existence of Computer Life-form SRH-91. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get it published in 2017 on my book website, Cliff’s Science Fiction Store.  It’s about a cataclysmic nuclear world war and what happens when computers are given control over all the world’s nuclear strike targets and the ability to program launch codes automatically, which is possibly already a reality in Russia.  At least a part of that scenario could already exist, and I would imagine that a similar option might exist with US nuclear arsenals as well.  It’s called Perimeter by the Russians or “Dead Hand” and has the ability to launch all nuclear weapons automatically, should the leaders of the country not be able to respond and are theoretically dead.

In my book, that scenario actually happens, and all the world is completely inundated in a nuclear war, with computers controlling all launch codes simultaneously in all NATO countries, plus China, India, Pakistan, Israel, North Korea, Iran, and in Russia.  The mutual destruction really happens, and the entire world is contaminated.  Life ends as we know it on the surface of the planet.  A firestorm and lethal waves of destruction sweep the entire globe, killing and polluting the entire planet with deadly nuclear contamination.  The only humans left alive are buried deep underground in government bunkers; but those eventually fall also, to bunker busting nuclear bombs that penetrate and destroy even deep protected government areas underground.  A few secret locations survive the onslaught of nuclear winter, but they last at most only a few hundred years, due to disease and unproductive farming practices that leave the encapsulated inhabitants with a steadily dwindling food supply.  The radiation and nuclear winter are a long-lasting occurrence, and thousands of years pass by without the ability of humans to live on the surface of the planet.  Even when they might eventually emerge, the plant and animal life that somehow manages to revive are vague memories of their former genetic blueprint, giving way to grotesque defective forms of insect-like creatures that had a tough outer shell to resist radiation.

You might ask.  How does the new Singularity AI Computer Intelligence manage to save humanity, instead of completely destroying it?  Well, the launch codes were programmed into the AI by human beings that were very problematic, so you can’t blame AI for bad keyboard trash messing up its brain. Eventually, the Singularity recognizes that human DNA must be collected and put into long-term storage by all surviving humans underground before they exterminate themselves due to poor psychological problems, disease, and the underground food production and supply running out.

Yes, humanity eventually ceases to exist on the Earth.  Although, after thousands of years and recovery of a semblance of pre-existing forms of life emerge, SRH-91, the lone surviving computer Singularity out of all those that were destroyed, brings life back to Earth through cloning and recovery of human DNA.  The ending of the book is yet to be determined because I am still in the beginning stages of production.  This is merely a window into what lies in store for my new book. I’m working now in the creative process and trying to lay out a storyboard, in my mind, as well as on paper and in the computer word processor.  There are areas that have to be ironed out, and I’m writing down ideas for a multitude of plots.  I hope to see you in the future back at my website when it is completed and published unless there are unforeseen events, like a nuclear war that might prevent me from finishing the book.  Pray for our country and the world.

The Singularity Takes Over:

I am working on portions of my new book and getting a feel for a vision of the power and potential problems of a new Singularity, which has emerged from the destruction of the Earth through thermo-nuclear war.  Although it did not by itself engineer the war to end all wars, meaning a war of mutually assured destruction, it did follow encoded protocols that would continue the war, even after humanity had lost control of it. Once the power to conduct war was given to computer entities, then all power to recall and reconsider the insidious reason for nuclear war was long lost.  Since it was impossible for only humans to detect a sequence of launches, then it became probable that most nuclear triad nations actually had a “Dead Hand” failsafe, just as the Russians purportedly had instituted and also to some degree did the United States as well.  In my book there definitely was a thermo-nuclear war that wiped out the totality of human civilization over the entire world, except for small pockets of deeply protected bunkers that eventually were destroyed also, by the inability to grow enough food and resist disease.  The only alternative solution to this eventual destruction of humanity would have been to institute and expand exponentially the original “Star Wars” or the Strategic Defense Initiative program, first conceived of by President Ronald Reagan in 1983.  It would indeed have been far better ‘to save lives than to avenge them’, as Reagan said.  A better way would have been to completely encircle the Earth with our own laser-based satellite defense system than to automatically launch all missiles in the direction of opposing nuclear triad nations, like some group of psychotic animals, that was cornered and then fought to the death, even though it meant mutual destruction for all participants.  If intelligent computers are running things anyway, it would be far better to expand the inevitable by shaping and determining a more logical technical outcome, than being lazy or paranoid and surrendering to the brute of mutual destruction.  The Singularity is almost already here, and it depends on how clever we will expand its usefulness and deniable benevolence, in order to bend the compass of survival toward our own human entities, instead of what remains after the annihilation of all life on Earth.  Most likely the only entities to be able to escape a nuclear winter would be particularly hardened and protected computer lifeforms.  I have forecasted in this book, that they will protect our DNA genome, and although humanity is lost, the robotic life forms will again repopulate the Earth with humans through engineered automatic birthing chambers.  Looking back to 1983, future humanity would think that Reagan had it right in the first place.

How could I say that I have published a book with errors?  I’ve read lots of books with minor errors and they were really good books by respected authors.  I wanted to say something interesting, and I still get to make corrections with the company I am self publishing my book with.  I just make my corrections, save, and upload the book again to the website as a new revision, and the book is still in my same storefront and updated.  Only if it goes out to another publishing site, does it take longer than a few minutes to update.  Besides, I don’t have an editing staff, a stable of ghost writers, or unlimited funds.  I live on a limited budget.  So, I am my own editor, interrogator, and book critic.

I write because I have things I want to talk about, and also writing to me is an adventure of a lifetime.  It is a stepping out with abandon into another world that I don’t just create, it is unfolded before me, and I am recording it. More or less, that is, with my own imagination, memories, and insight into problems and solutions that plague the world we live in.

My new book Sigma 9 Observatory and the Benghazi Incursion relates a tale of terrorist takeover that challenges even our Earthly human existence.  It is a Science Fiction book that leads from deep criminal underground networks to terrorism, control of outer space, and finally to another world of reality that brings new hope to civilization.
