Starfish Robot Shows Robotic Introspection And Self-Modeling

A new four-legged robot can automatically synthesize a predictive model of its own topology (where and how its body parts are connected), and then successfully move around. It can also use this "proprioceptive" sense to determine if a component has been damaged, and then model new movements that take the damage into account.

In their article, Josh Bongard, Victor Zykov, and Hod Lipson describe their experiment:

We demonstrate, both computationally and experimentally, how a legged robot automatically synthesizes a predictive model of its own topology (where and how its body parts are connected) through limited yet self-directed interaction with its environment, and then uses this model to synthesize successful new locomotive behavior before and after damage. The legged robot learned how to move forward based on only 16 brief self-directed interactions with its environment. These interactions were unrelated to the task of locomotion, driven only by the objective of disambiguating competing internal models. These findings may help develop more robust robotics, as well as shed light on the relation between curiosity and cognition in animals and humans...

If the robot is damaged, it can sense the problem and attempt to compensate. The robot has tilt and angle sensors in all of its joints; readings from these sensors are used by the robot to create a self-image. If sensors indicate that a part is missing or damaged, it changes its image of itself and moves on.

As for sf references, everybody remembers the HAL-9000 unit that ran the spaceship in 2001: A Space Odyssey. HAL was also able to sense problems in the ship and then get one if its servants (the human astronauts) to install new components, if necessary.

Despite their achievement, the researchers remain modest in the face of nature. "We never officially named it, but we usually refer to it as the Starfish robot, even though a real starfish has five rather than four legs," said lead researcher Josh Bongard, now at the University of Vermont. "Also, a real starfish is much better than our robot at recovering from injury, because it can actually regrow its legs."

I just had to pass along this cool video showing the remarkable Starfish robot created by Josh Bongard, Victor Zykov, and Hod Lipson.

Towards the end of the video, the robot conceptualizes itself, determining its own structure using sensors built into each joint. Then, it thinks of different ways that it might move - walk - from place to place.

Amy Jade Winehouse (born September 14, 1983) is an English jazz/soul singer and songwriter. Her debut album, Frank (released in 2003) was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize and she won an Ivor Novello award in 2004 for her debut single Stronger Than Me. In 2006, she released her second album, Back To Black. On 14th February 2007, she won a Brit award for Best British Female Solo Artist. In 2007 Back to Black reached #7 on the Billboard 200 Album chart in the US, selling over 51000 copies in its first week.

Born into an English-Jewish family with a history of jazz musicians, she grew up in the suburb of Southgate, North London, and attended Ashmole School. At around age 10, Winehouse founded a short-lived amateur rap group called Sweet 'n' Sour, as Sour. She described the group as "the little white Jewish Salt-N-Pepa". She attended the Sylvia Young Theatre School aged 12 but was expelled at 13 for "not applying herself" and piercing her own nose. She later attended the BRIT School in Selhurst, Croydon.
She grew up listening to a diverse range of music (from Salt 'n' Pepa to Sarah Vaughan) and received her first guitar aged 13.

On a good day in London you might actually hear the sound of the melting pot. In a cafe there could be jazz. As the cars go by, hip hop beats and basslines. Some old reggae booming from the neighbourhood vinyl shop. Home, and your noisy flat mate's blaring TV on the R'n'B channel. It's not going to happen every day, but over a lifetime, even a short one of nineteen years, the history of sweet, strong urban sounds might rub into a person's blood, and that person might grow up musically wise before their years. It could be a girl, white or black. She could be funny, tough, smart, idealistic and devoted to musicianship. If she had a voice that was timeless and salaciously textured and capable of melting concrete even on low heat, that would be too good to wish for.

Amy Winehouse, daughter of the city and pupil of the wide musical universe of "stuff that has soul" is just such a walking, emoting miracle. Born and raised in North London, she spent her teenage years balancing school and boyfriends with hours locked in her bedroom, ears glued to classic song chord changes. Her voice however was clearly living a secret life, staying out, getting high, breaking down, going to prison and violating parole by leaving the country with a gun toting maniac gangster. At least it sounds that way. She has the vocal prodigy bit covered. If words have already worn themselves out trying to describe the horny, sleazy, salty spiritual, worldly wise, late night, tired of bullshit, downtown, flirty velvet resonance that makes for a great soul-jazz singer they're going to fall apart entirely over Amy. That vocal ability would be something in itself, but Camden Girl Sings The Blues is only half the headline here. Amy is not the kind of girl to accept the gift of vocal skills, sit back and replicate what others have done before her. Without making it into a grand plan, and proceeding as if it was the most natural thing in the world (because it is) she has taken her love of jazz and soul and added an infusion of seriously fresh perspective. She might sound like a 40s jazz singer, but she's using forefront beats and lyrics. A one woman guerrilla force reclaiming gritty urban music from r'n'b and hip hop annexation, she's letting her voice go where its meant to go. Her style is not for the candlelit basement. It's out there living in the real world of Gucci bags, Diesel underwear, high heels, breast implants, weed after school, cheating airhead honeys, runaway crushes, and the multiple complexities of male-female relations in the 2000s. Forget about torch themes from yesteryear. "I wasn't there, so I can't write that," says Amy. "I'm young, man, and I'm a city girl. I can only write about what I've gone through. I couldn't write something that I haven't been through, because its not fair and just the experience of having gone through it, that's the whole song. To me there's no point in doing a song unless it's a challenge in every area. I don't tend to do anything unless it's a challenge. That's why I started writing songs, really - to challenge myself."

Amy got her first guitar at 13. Her Brooklyn born, London raised mum was into folk and the natural thing was for Amy to start strumming an acoustic guitar. Carole King and James Taylor Sarah Vaughan and Dinah Washington ("my dad always claimed he discovered her!"). Thanks to her grandmother, she was also imbibing a measure of Frank Sinatra. Like any inquisitive, talented city kid, she went through phases. There was a grunge phase. And a deviation into Hendrix. Her investigation of the boundaries of music received an interruption while attending the Sylvia Young stage school in North London. She was expelled for 'not applying herself' and wearing a nose piercing. A move to an all girls school in South London didn't help to endear the educational system to her, but it did accidentally further her technique as an instrumentalist. "I was like 'Where's the men, what is going on?'" she recalls. "So I used to lock myself away from the time of 15 and just do music, because I hated the school. Every lunch time every break I'd be up in the music room playing a guitar or piano." Having escaped the clutches of musical theatre and found a man-free place to explore her own interests as a player and vocalist, Amy started to investigate jazz more closely. The classic song 'standards' she'd known at stage school sounded stiff compared to the jazz versions. Moving through Ella to Dinah she felt her way forward though the old greats. Ella was "technically faultless" but Dinah "could do jazz, and then she could knock the shit out of a blues... when she was 12 she was directing the church choir! "I think it was the freeness of jazz that appealed to me," she says. "Not necessarily the avant garde - Coltrane, where he took that - but I could really relate to a simple trio. I could just hear it all in there, just drums, bass, a trumpet or piano, that's it for me. Four such simple elements, and brought together they would just fly. I just thought it was the purest form or real beautiful music. I think music now is very watered down and I think it's not even music, a lot of it."

At 16 Amy was well caught up in the rapture, studying the history and pushing her voice. Sunday morning gigs were coming her way and she was starting to appear with a Youth Jazz Orchestra. But at the same time, a broader musical osmosis from the urban sprawl was taking place. There was a flatmate into serious R'n'B - Jodeci and Jagged Edge. Inevitably hip hop leaked into her headphones, checking for Mos Def for his positive message and by extension making room for Talib Kweli, The Roots, Erykah Badu. For a while there was a boyfriend with a heavy reggae habit. Gradually, subconsciously, the smoking grooves, jazz enunciation and feisty attitude were coming together to form Amy's own thing. "The way it all gets mixed up though, that's just me trying to manifest what's in myself, in song," says Amy. "Its not a pretence, its just soul - stuff that has soul. It's like, I listened to Ray Charles for a year, just Ray Charles. He is such an inspiration. Musicians like that, and people like Roy Ayers, who'll go out and play a gig every night of his life still, because that's his life, they're the inspiration. I'd like to get to that point where I can just pick up my instrument and go out with this tonight, like pick up my trumpet and go."

With word around town about Amy's unique abilities getting louder she found herself a management company and started to work with producers. Island Records got to hear the works in progress and swiftly signed her to the label. Now Amy really could pick up her guitar and go. In London she worked with producer/writers, Felix Howard, Matt Rowe and Stefan Scarbek and Stateside got together with Commissioner Gordon and Salaam Remi. The debut album from Amy has not been force-fed. It has grown naturally out of her teenage passions, innate skills and on-going curiosity. Perhaps that's why it has such a healthy balance of old and new, smoky ballads and beats, summer and autumn. Its an album that fits as well alongside The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill as it does Dinah's After Hours with Miss D. There are beats that lope and grooves that swing. A Wurlitzer organ swings low on a sorrowful lament. Smiling horn samples pull up in to the sunshine. There are interludes where flute and acoustic guitars take over. Then vinyl static from a sampled beat leads into a lazy groove. The bass lines get jiggy again. And consistently Amy 'knocks the shit' out of the songs, whether sultry, teasing, grieving or soulfully communing. "If you're coming from a place where you feel it naturally, it comes out," she says. "You don't even have to think 'I'm going to do this sexy', it just comes out. It's just a feeling that you can't even think, you just sing."

Crucially Amy's debut collection reveals a singer who can sing from the heart but also find light and shade in the city turbulence. There is mischief amongst Missy Amy's confessions. In Fuck Me Pumps (co-written with Salaam Remy) she pokes fun at "girls who genuinely think they have to go out and meet an athlete, and then their life will be perfect". I Heard Love Is Blind is a mock admission of love-cheating with a lookalike. close to the front deals with the three infatuations of Amy's life, starting of with her science teacher. And an update on the old standard Mr Magic finds Amy serenading a somewhat combustible, stress relieving, metaphorical 'lover'. On a straighter note, the album also catalogues her trials and tribulations in the jungle of love. What Is It About Men? is as hard on herself as it is about the un-fairer sex. You Sent Me FlyingOctober Song which transposes the real life passing away of her pet canary into a delicious dreamy elegy. Maybe the poor creature couldn't bear to be out sung. "I just hope that people won't hear my stuff and go, this is that white girl from London," concludes Amy. "I hope they'll go 'this is a girl who's actually got some soul, and she's young but she's had some experiences, and she's relating to them and I can relate to that'. I assume I will get pigeon holed, it's inevitable, but my music is pure, and when I write I don't have any preconceptions, I just write what I feel and I just hope that people will receive it as purely as I write it." Three letters; two syllables; one stellar voice and an uncaged future: Amy. made their presence felt on the family stereo, but Amy was more drawn to her dad's jazzier taste. Under her father's tutelage, she picked up serious exposure to tries to make a man out of a passive paramour. The beautiful blue-black ballad was written right after the 'returning belongings 'moment in a break up. Meanwhile, the incendiary, chandelier -shaking vocal on the piano and voice piece graphically captures the intensity of new love. Amy Winehouse does not leave much of a gap between herself and the tape. She comes at you straight from life. Its another miracle that she's been caught at that point where passions burn, and fun is fierce fun. Urban beats from an old soul teenager are not going to get any more alive for a long time. Nestes dois últimos dias decidi ver dois filmes com interpretações de Joseph Gordon-Levitt, este é aquele jovem que entrava no "3º Calhau a contar do Sol" ("3rd Rock from the Sun") que passava na rtp2, recentemente tinha visto o filme Brick (2005) e também me recordo de ter visto o clássico romance para adolescentes 10 Things I Hate About You (1999). Devo dizer que depois de Brick fiquei atento às interpretações deste senhor, sim ele tem jeito para a coisa de ser actor e depois destes dois filmes começo a achar que o jeito dele além de ser para actor é para fazer papéis de jovens com problemas e com grande carga psicológica.

Bem comecemos pelo que talvez tenha sido um filme que gerou alguma controvérsia. Mysterious Skin (2004) é aquele filme ao jeito de Little Children (2006) bastante provocador. Mysterious skin desde já vos digo é um grande filme, boas interpretações, boa realização, bom guião que apesar de ser algo óbvio nos deixa presos para vermos o fim mas acima de tudo este filme é "nojento", no bom sentido, as cenas desde filme fazem-nos sentir desconfortáveis, incomodados, repugnados e todo o tipo de outras coisas más. Mas até é bom, porque era preciso mostrar esse lado para a história ficar completa. Mysterious Skin é uma história sobre duas crianças que foram abusadas por um pedófilo e da maneira diferente como ambas encararam essa realidade, por um lado o jovem que já se sentia atraído por homens e sentiu aquilo como um prolongamento da vida e do outro o jovem que apaga todas as memórias desses incidentes e passa 11 anos da vida a acreditar que tinha sido raptado por extraterrestres. Vejam vale a pena.

trailer feito por um fã...

Do outro lado da barricada está The Lookout (2007), certamente um filme muito menos polémico e mais de cinema, é um filme normal sem grande chatice uma história tipica. Um jovem jovem atleta promissor que numa noite foi responsável por um acidente rodoviário que vitimou dois amigos terminou uma relação e deixou-lhe mazelas. É assim que conhecemos Chris Pratt que agora tenta reeducar-se para viver uma vida normal, é assim que conhece Lewis funcionário cego de um callcenter com quem partilha um apartamento, é assim que um grupo de jovens tentam-se aproveitar das mazelas de Chris para assaltar um banco, é assim a nossa história.

O filme é bem realizado, e a premissa do filme é de certa forma melancólica, não achei o filme excepcional mas é um bom filme.

Hoje acordei e decidi ver este filme que tenho aqui há algum tempo.
Definiria este filme como uma Humor minimalista, porquê? porque primeiro é um filme calmo com desenvolvimento caótico (umas alturas lento outras rápido o suficiente), mas minimalista porque não usa grandes truques ou grande cenários muitas vezes o humor baseia-se em termos dois actores a olharem um para o outro durante largos segundos, diria ainda mais sobre o minimalista da maneira que as coisas vão acontecendo por cadeia ao nosso personagem principal. Devo dizer que realmente achei o filme engraçado, tem a sua história, o seu tipo de humor, o seu timing e ainda bem que o vi.

Mais especificamente sobre o filme, bem acompanhamos a vida de Ryan um escriturário/jornalista que logo desde muito cedo perde a namorada e é despedido do emprego mas que por um erro paranóico do pai arranja rapidamente outro emprego na santa casa, a caminho da entrevista ainda pára para ver uma baleia morta e é basicamente apartir daqui que tudo na sua vida muda, conhece uma rapariga e vira uma pessoa corrupta.

Bem eu gostei, aconselho-vos a ver.

Bem eu continuei a ver filmes e o seguinte foi uma das obras de Emir Kusturica, neste filme vemos um pouco da atribulada vida de Perhan possuidor de poderes telequinéticos. Jovem cigano que vive na, antiga, Jugoslávia com a avó, tio e a irmã. A história começa com o primeiro e único amor de Perhan e a sua viagem para Itália para poder ajudar a curar a doença da irmã.
Depois o jovem enfrenta a realidade da sua condição, de ser pobre e de ser manipulado por outras pessoas, depois Perhan usa as suas capacidades para atingir a vingança.
Há quem diga que muito do valor deste filme está no verdadeiro retrato do mundo cigano da Jugoslávia, eu não sei, até porque a Jugoslávia já não existe, mas posso-vos dizer que aqui não existem pessoas bonitas, ou gente elegante e talvez isso seja mais próximo da realidade.

A bem dizer o filme é estranho, primeiro é antigo e a qualidade da imagem e som não são as melhores, mas não é por isso que o filme peca em qualidade. O filme é estranho porque passa por várias fazes, começamos com um filme divertido e romântico, passámos para um drama realista e cruel (que acaba por ser a parte mais aborrecida do filme) para acabamos com um final vingativo e com pouco significado.

Não é um mau filme, e recomendo a ver a quem tem paciência para realmente apreciar filmes, tem algumas narrativas que valem a pena e é isto.

Finalmente que vi um filme do Tim Burton ao qual posso dar um 9/10, sim este é para mim o melhor, o mais belo, o mais sentimental dos filmes de Tim Burton e atenção não existe nenhum Johny Depp neste filme.

Este filme é o verdadeiro conto de fadas poético e vejam bem o elenco, que apesar de não fazer um filme, é bem catita. As únicas notas negativas deste filme vão para a escolha de Albert Finney que para o dito papel é um bocado a favor, penso que ele teve sempre mal quando mostrava demasiada raiva para alguém que sempre foi (segundo diz o próprio filme) sociável e consciente da sua realidade, talvez a raiva fosse por saber que estava próximo do fim da sua vida mas depois de verem o filme verão que algo ali não está muito bem, é talvez um bocado exagerado o papel dele. A segunda nota negativa vai para o fim que é um bocado fora do ritmo do resto do filme, o fim é para mim um pedaço crucial dos filmes tem de ser a parte mais inspirada.
Já devem ter reparado que refilo muito com os fins mas a verdade é que para mim essa é a chaga de hollywood não sabem acabar os filmes, nem mesmo os bons.

Bem vou deixar um sinopse tirada do imdb.com porque eu mesmo tenho dificuldade em arranjar as palavras certas.

E não é que acabei mesmo por ver este filme.

Pois este foi o melhor filme que vi nos últimos 4 dias, e já vi alguns como se pode ver no blog.

Ed Wood (1994) conta a história de um fracasso, um homem que queria ser realizador mas só fazia maus filmes, esta é a história de Edward D. Wood Jr. e vale a pena ver.

Primeiro há que notar o excelente papel de Johnny Depp, aqui ele deu o litro,
Sarah Jessica Parker também me surpreendeu pela positiva.

O filme conta mesmo a história de um fracasso de realizador que acabou por ser eleito o pior realizador do século XX, os seus filmes não são só maus mas péssimos o que o levou a ter uma legião de fãs nos dias de hoje. Este filme torna-se engraçado pela maneira optimista como a nossa personagem enfrenta um futuro tão negativo como é o dele, cada filme pior que o anterior e a maneira como arranja dinheiro para os produzir já dava por si só uma história.
Tem humor, é uma história verídica, tem a sua costela de dramático e isso chega-me.

(bem ainda não dormi e tou a hora e meia de fazer directa, acreditem estou com poucas palavras)

Consagrei estes meus últimos 100 minutos a ver um filme no qual tinha algumas expectativas, e vejamos se qualquer pessoa que olhe para o seguinte cartaz não tem algumas expectativas..

Vejam bem Tim Allen, John Travolta, Martin Lawrence e William H. Macy nos principais papeis é obra. Eu fiquei ainda com mais expectativas quando no imdb.com vi outros actores que também entram no filme, o grande Ray Liotta, Tichina Arnold (que faz de mãe de chris na série "Everybody Hates Chris" que está a passar na rtp2), John C. McGinley (que ficou mais conhecido entre nós pelo papel de Dr. Perry Cox na série "Scrubs" ) e finalmente o menos conhecido M.C. Gainey (que faz de tom na série "Lost").

O realizador é Walt Becker, ao qual nem sequer prestei muita atenção mas vejo agora que apenas tinha realizado mais dois fracassos de filmes.

Bem mas que dizer de wild hogs? é um mau filme, bons actores mas puramente comercial e é isso. Este é aquele tipico filme americano que é feito para a bilheteira com um humor fraco e sempre repetitivo que mais parece ser tirado de um manual há muito feito por hollywood e perfeitamente ultrapassado. A minha opinião é que não vale a pena verem o filme é um tipo de filme pseudo-familiar com humor bastante ligeiro, que como já disse é completamente ultrapassado, e é isso nada de mais, no fundo não aquece nem arrefece.

O enredo é simples 4 amigos com vidas frustradas decidem fazer uma viagem de motos até à costa leste, pelo caminho metem-se em aventuras que os levam por problemas e é isso.

o meu próximo filme, espero sinceramente que seja mais fascinante que estes últimos vai ser Ed Wood (1994), novamente dar uma oportunidade à dupla Johnny Depp + Tim Burton num filme a duas cores preto e branco.

E como hoje é domingo e estamos a aproveitar uma pausa nas aulas, que vai abruptamente terminar dia 1 para iniciar os estudos para os exames que a burrice me leva a fazer em setembro (ou pelo menos ele diz que sim), aproveitei para ver mais dois filmes esta tarde.

Comecei por ir buscar um filme que tinha cá há algum tempo e fui ver o 88 minutos, um filme que nos conta a história de um psicologo forense (nem sabia que isso existia) lá para os lados os estados unidos que no dia em que um assassino em série vai levar uma injecção do tio sam por mau comportamento, caso em que o nosso protagonista foi a peça principal para o incriminar. Ora depois existe a desconfiança, existem 88 minutos de stress, e existe uns tirinhos aqui e ali com um headshot no fim par nos lembrar que estômago tá a dar horas.
O filme não é propriamente mau, e está um pouco acima da categoria dos filmes que não aquecem nem arrefecem (5/10), deu para passar algum tempo deitado a ver uma história e foi isso.

E depois de aquecer o estômago fui ver mais um filme que tinha guardado e este há ainda mais tempo. Fui assim preparado para ver Last Kiss, este é um daqueles romances new-age (se é que isso existe e se não existir que fique aqui registado que fui eu que criei a denominação) em que por vezes o importante não é se os casais acabam felizes para sempre nem a maneira catita como ele luta para conquistar o amor de uma obstinada moça que por alguma razão, mais ou menos ambígua, continua a negar-lhe aquilo que sabemos vir a ceder de forma mais ou menos lamechas no final no filme (é por esta razão que vejo poucos romances). Não, estes novos romances tratam mais do drama psicológico dos casais de hoje, o que vai dentro das suas cabeças, o que leva um homem com a vida perfeita a cair na tentação, até mesmo a dar-lhe algum sentido, o que leva um pai em desespero a renunciar a essa responsabilidade, este é o tipo de tramas que mexe connosco que nos faz sentir ódio pela personagem, por cometer o erro mais estúpido de todos, ou a simpatizar com ela por nos revermos naquele intenso emaranhado psicológico que a envolve e não lhe dá descanso.
E a bem dizer Last Kiss é um romance bem catita que tem quase isso tudo. Eu gostei e apesar de não ser o meu romance favorito, que continuará a ser Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004), é um filme que se vê bastante bem, contudo devo dizer que o final algo mítico da personagem principal foi um bocado lamechas e não gostei da pouca profundidade que foi dada às outras personagens (nomeadamente aos amigos do personagem principal) teria preferido um filme de 120 min com um final menos lamechas e com mais história sobre os outros 3 amigos.

Lost, Disturbia and Wonka

Tenho escrito pouco, mas também ninguém lê.
Entretanto vou tornando este espaço cada vez mais dedicado ao cinema, ou pelo menos aos filmes que vou vendo cá por casa.

Esta última semana, foi dedicada à 3ª época da série Lost e que grande série devo dizer. Tinham-me dito que era o final da série e isso deixou-me ainda mais curioso, mas devo-vos dizer o Lost não acaba na 3ª época vão haver mais 3, e o número de questões que existem de série para série aumenta. Eu gostei da 3ª época, vou gostar muito mais da ver a 4ª.
Finalmente as próximas épocas terão menos episódios, serão só 16 em cada uma.

Depois de uma semana a ver séries passei este sábado a ver dois filmes. O primeiro disturbia é um daqueles filmes de terror, ou tentativa de o ser, o filme em si não é mau (tem pelo menos uma história linear) mas não gostei muito do fim e certamente não me vai deixar saudades.

É decididamente um filme engraçado para passar o tempo em familia, o terror não é pesado, a história começa por ser um bocado triste depois temos um pequeno vislumbre de romance e uma tentativa de adolescentes em serem os próximos Sherlock Holmes para finalmente aparecer-nos um serial killer.

Foi realizado por D.J. Caruso e teve interpretações de Shia LaBeouf, Sarah Roemer,
Aaron Yoo, David Morse e Carrie-Anne Moss.

O último filme, a ovelha negra desta semana foi Charlie and the chocolate factory, básicamente não gostei do filme. A história é segundo me consta uma adaptação de um livro ou de pelo menos um filme mais antigo.

Este é um daqueles filmes com uma moral lamechas lá por trás, em que a coisa mais preciosa do mundo é a família e que pelo menos existem 4 pecados mortais, que parecem não nos dar direito ao prémio final. A interpretação de Johny Depp é fabulosa, mas o filme básicamente fica por aí. Se tens crianças em casa queres por durante das horas as crianças divertidas ou se és um fan incondicional de Johny Depp ou Tim Burton parabéns e passa uma bom tempo.
O filme em si, efeitos especiais e realização não estão maus mas a história já tantas vezes contada chateia e foi uma má aposta do realizador, se o objectivo dele era fazer um bom filme.

Tideland

E assim vi mais um filme...

A adaptação de Terry Gilliam's da obra Tideland é no minimo bizarra, mas a história também já o era e o realizador apenas estendeu mais esse pormenor ao grande ecran. Em termos de realização Terry traz-nos um bom filme sem defeitos a destacar, as interpretações dos actores mais novos Jodelle Ferland e Brendan Fletcher, com particular destaque para ele que por momentos me fez recordar a magnifica interpretação de Sam por Sean Penn na obra I Am Sam (2001), que estiveram bem no seu papel. A história sendo bizarra nunca foi muito bem aceite pelo grande público e foi um fracasso nas bilheteiras por onde passou.
A minha conclusão é simples e curta se têm mente aberta para ver uma história da qual pouco há a perceber mas muito há para apreciar neste filme estão duas horas bem passadas, se preferem ver filmes com argumentos lineares fujam.
