Three different lines are included in the Timberland collection for the upcoming season (Fall 2009): Outdoor Adventure, Rugged Classics and Denim.

* Outdoor Adventure

This line  is inspired by Mount Washington, which is the highest peak in the Northeastern United States and a place with the most extreme temperatures. Its observatory, which is located on the peak, has recorded record figures of wind speed. For that reason, this line has been created to protect men who work and live in places where harshness of weather is a common thing, especially with extreme cold. It is a clothing line for men who are able to challenge the nature and conquer peaks.

* Rugged Classics - Earthkeepers

Henry David Thoreau (1817 – 1862) was the first original Earthkeeper: He was a pioneer in cleaning up and preserving the environment. His novel “Walden; or, Life in the Woods” describes events and experiences during two years, two months and two days when he lived in a cabin that was built by him and close to Walden Pond Lake in New England. With this project of solitary life in the woods that included the cultivation of his food and the writing of his experiences, Thoreau sought to defend a simple life with satisfied basic needs and the preservation of the environment and the natural resources. His life and experiences is the inspiration for the Earthkeepers clothing line of the Timberland collection for upcoming season.

* Denim

The hardness of the life of fishermen and sailors in the New England coasts are the inspiration for this line; that is to say, it has a nautical inspiration and it is appropriated for men who are able to live even under extreme conditions.

The purple (or violet) color is very feminine and it is the color of the calm par excellence. Tory Burch uses this color to brighten her very fine and basic T-shirts and sweaters, which are perfect for women who want  to wear casual but elegant clothes.

Madonna comes back as the face of the new advertising campaign for the brand Louis Vuitton and its Fall-winter 09/10 collection. This time, she worked in collaboration with the photographer Steven Meisel; but this is not the first time: they have worked together in the past during several photo sessions.

In the picture above, Madonna is wearing some samples of the new items included in the collection: clothes, handbag, accessories and a sort of rabbit ears, which is a quite attractive and eye-catching headdress. The colors of this collection are very appropriate for the fall and winter seasons. By the way, they are very similar to the colors used by Dolce & Gabanna in its fall-winter collection.

Although this new Louis Vuitton Fall-Winter 09/10 collection is very fashionable and elegant, this photo where Madonna is participating is a little strange. Her pose and face don’t look natural. Besides, the retouches (with Photoshop, we guess) produced an evident alteration and Madonna looks like a mannequin. The color gradient, that was used to get a metallic effect, combines very well with the colors of the items and gives us a sensation of coldness, but definitely, Madonna’s face and her pose are strange.

If we take a look at the following picture (from the Louis Vuitton Spring-Summer 09 collection), then we can see how different colors were used. The prevalent colors in the current collection are: brown, yellow, and orange. By the way, Madonna’s poses were a little strange in this photo session, too.

Of course, other photos of the advertising campaign for the Louis Vuitton fall-winter collection will be published soon. Hopefully, we will be able to see Madonna with a richer variety of poses and different facial expressions.

The garments we find in this new collection are really pretty and very sexy. They will be available  in several styles, but tattersall fabrics and checkered designs will prevail and will be very in fashion during the final months of this year through a lot of garments, including shirts and coats.

So far, only one photo related to the Hugo Boss Black Fall-Winter 2009/2010 collection  has been published to the public. Anyway, it is a great photo, and hopefully  the collection will be great and wonderful, too.

The photo shows an image that is a perfect example of classy garments with a traditional touch. And Hugo Booss knows a lot about elegance. Sure, it is possible that this German brand has some prices that are affordable only to some people, but that is not enough reason to be elegant. There is something else. Actually, there are other clothing brands with similar prices but they are not so elegant as Hugo Boss.

The photo is about an impeccable black suit with two buttons, but only the upper button is fastened (as it always should be). The belt is not very prominent or overloaded, but it can be seen as a perfect accessory. The shirt is very particular; and, maybe, there are some people who don’t like this kind of shirt where the collar is black and the rest is white, but the combination looks great in the picture.

Of course, the model is also part of this wonderful look but, anyway, he looks classy because he is wearing classy clothes. Ok, this is only a preview, but we are looking forward to see the whole collection soon.

Milan’s spring/summer 2010 menswear fashion week began yesterday with the Dolce & Gabbana collection, which comprises a stylized fashion for men with, for example, one button embroidered  jackets longer than usual; those jackets highlight the body’s contours in a masculine way that suggests that Dolce & Gabbana is looking for male perfection.

This time, again, Italian designers Stefano Dolce and Domenico Gabbana found inspiration in Sicily (their native province), which is a melting pot of cultures. There, these designers have searched for the aesthetics and beauty of the man of the third millennium.

The Dolce & Gabbana fashion show had the participation of young and attractive models, among them the Brazilian model Jesus Luz, who is the face of the new advertising campaign of Dolce & Gabbana. On the catwalk, he was barefoot and was wearing black underwear with white borders; also, a black open shirt made of satin was covering his torso.

Dolce & Gabbana opted for an image of a man who wears full-embroidered jackets in variegated grey tones, black borders, wide necklines, and only one button, so the lateral parts and shoulders can be  highlighted.

Sao Paulo Fashion Week finished its first day of fashion shows with the participation of the Brazilian top model Gisele Bundchen after the former French-Brazilian model Beth Lagardere attended an event that served as homage to her career. The event was part of the celebration of the “Year of France” in Brazil.

This year, the 27th Sao Paulo Fashion Week (SPFW), which is the most noted fashion event in Latin America, was called “Passion-Paixao”. On Wednesday, there were presentations of summer 2009/2010 collections (southern hemisphere) by local brands with international reputation such as Osklen, Paola Robba, Priscila Darolt, V. Rom, Raquel Davidowicz and Colcci.

In this fashion week, some people had many expectation of the presence of Gisele Bundchen and Jesus Luz (who is supposed to be the boyfriend of the Pop Queen Madonna). Of course, the collections are the main reasons why people attend this exhibition. The first day, the clothing company Colcci was in charge of closing the session.

Colcci opted for a very casual and relaxed style based on natural colors and brown palettes. With these features, the company showed jeans, tank tops and overlapped garments (vests, decorations, suspenders and necklaces) which added a special touch to the fashion show.

Actress Uma Thurman, main character of Kill Bill (a Tarantino film), is joining a group where Liv Tyler and Justin Timberlake are already members. She will be the “face” of a well-known French brand of clothing, perfumes, accessories, and cosmetics.

Thurman is 39 years old and is one of the favorite actresses in Hollywood. She was chosen by Givenchy, which is currently managed by Italian designer Ricardo Tisci, as the new face of “Parfums Givenchy“.

The ads where Uma appears will be shown  to the international media this summer but the promotional campaign will be released in autumn.

Thurman stays very busy. She will be starring in a movie called “Percy Jackson” where she will share the screen with Pierce Brosnan. Also, Thurman has a list of additional projects, including three more movies: “Girl soldier”, “Eloise in Paris” and “The Swarm”.

Many times, the canons of beauty and fashion establish parameters for perfection and symmetry. However, this year, many Spring-summer 2009 collections are featuring an important change.

According to Vogue and other magazines, in the last months, fashion designers have opted for irregular and asymmetric shapes that, in spite of looking like improvised designs, come with nice details and have well-thought-out proportions.

This trend of strange and unusual garments is set by daring and avant-garde designers such as Albert Elbaz for Lanvin, Luella, Viktor & Rolf and Moschino.

They are fashion houses and designers that have assumed the role of researchers in their niche market by looking for new aesthetic approaches such as asymmetric shapes. Let’s take a look at some examples of this (click on the pictures to enlarge them).

Brazilian swimsuits designer Rosa Cha is going from strength to strength and now her designs are shown on the New Yorker catwalks, and not once but twice a year. And with this Summer 2009 collection, you can know the reason.

Rosa adds a unique touch to her swimwear line by making it in a sophisticated way. Many of her  items are not made for staying in the sea water (or pool). Instead, they can be worn while you are getting a slow tan next to the pool, or while you are laid down on the beach. You will look great with the beads, stones, laces, and other details that Cha added to each piece.

In the Summer 2009 collection, which was introduced some months ago at the New York Fashion Week, the Brazilian designer is proposing a style based on geometric designs. The collection include pieces in several colors that result in a sort of well-elaborated shapes and others that minimize the use of spandex where it is appropriate to do so.

But, Rosa Cha is much more than this simple explanation. She also adds textures, beauty and a great style to her swimwear line, which is becoming an important reference on specialized catwalks where one-piece swimsuits and bikinis are getting a more aesthetic sense, instead of being just a garment to go to the beach.
