I love the effortless styling and european flair. It features adorable model, Irina Lazareanu & Alex James of Blur. Seeing all these spring collections makes me anxious to shed these winter layers of clothing. Its a bit chilly still so until then, I'll be dreaming up cute outfits made up of light cotton dresses, hats and cute short numbers exposing my bare legs to the sunlight! haha *sigh* I am especially excited to gather some outfits for my anniversary trip to hawaii. I can't believe its already been 3 years since we tied the knot. Woooah. This time around we've invited a handful of our closest friends to come with us to celebrate and hang out with us in hawaii. I am counting down the days!

In other news, my brother's band, <a href="http://fidlarla.com"target="blank">FIDLAR has been getting a ton of press. If you like rowdy punk music and like to party, they will make you want to mosh. <a href="http://www.noisey.com/watch/meet-fidlar"target="blank">Here is the latest video of them by VICE.

Madewell Spring 2012

Hey! ugh. I can't believe its been such a long time since I've posted! I have butt loads of photos from my trip to northern California on thanksgiving and my trip to Hawaii and other fun things to fill you in on. Perhaps in another post? Today I'm posting up one of my favorite "go to" lines, Madewell. Let's face it, we can't all afford to shop at high end boutiques and I've had my fair share of disturbingly bad quality from the likes of H&M and forever 21. So where do you go to get your everyday basics and outfits dressy enough for work? <a href="http://www.madewell.com/index.jsp""target="blank">MADEWELL. I used to scavenger the sale racks at J Crew but those days are over for me as Madewell has definitely filled the void. Now, if you go to online store, don't let the prices scare you. My advice to you is to be patient and wait for things to go on sale. They have amazing and affordable sales. The key to shopping at Madewell is persistence. I check their website almost everyday and when I see something on sale, I drive to the nearest one and pick it up. Their shoes are all made in Italy with the best leathers and lasts forever. I have 5 pairs of their shoes now and I still wear them to death. I say go for quality and not quantity, ladies.
Here is their spring line. I am really loving the pops of colors throughout the collection. I tend to stay away from bright colors but this collection almost makes me want to go out of my comfort zone and at least try them on, no? who knows, I might even try a crazy print or two...

Have a great weekend, guys!

Rebecca Taylor x Peace Over Violence

some of my favorites from Rebecca Taylor

Hey guys,

Just wanted to let you all know about this amazing opportunity called <a href="http://www.communitycollection.com/"target="blank">Community Collection. A designer is paired up with a charity and 20% of the sale proceeds will go to them to help their cause. This is such a great way to give back while shopping from your favorite designers. Among the designers are Rebecca Taylor, Helmut Lang, Elizabeth and James, Lulu Frost, Clare Vivier and much more.

I am so excited to announce that starting today, <a href="http://www.peaceoverviolence.org/"target="blank">Peace Over Violence is paired up with Rebecca Taylor! Peace Over Violence is a non profit organization that aims to prevent sexual, domestic and interpersonal violence within families and within the community. I feel that it's important to raise awareness of warning signs that can prevent violence within your home and relationships. Their cause is important and has helped many people over the years. There are so many ways to show support and this is such an easy way to do it, guys. Shopping that benefits a non profit that helps others? It's seriously a no brainer.

Jefferson Park

It's been such a long time since I've posted a style post! My apologies. I am such an awkward duck in front of the camera but I suppose that's just who I am and so, I just embrace it! I found this dress on a whim while shopping a prop for another shoot. I've been into polka dots as you know from my previous post so, imagine my excitement when I came across this beauty of a dress...And it fit like a glove. No alterations. So, here you have it. My favorite new dress. This outfit is inspired by my love for the 60s. I love wiggle dresses in general. They are sexy without revealing too much. xx

Outfit: Dress -vintage, Cardigan-Rodarte, Coat-Alexa Chung for Madewell, Tights- Target, Shoes-Ferragamo, Purse-Coach, Belt-J.Crew

chloe kids!

I have been doing so much research for a new project and I came across this cute Chloe childrenswear line. Probably won't be doing Chloe but Ralph Lauren, Gap kids and have you seen Zara's line? absolutely adorable! Hope you are having a great week. I am still recovering from a crazy weekend. I am looking forward to taking it easy this weekend and watching The Rum Diary, based off a book by Hunter S. Thompson. We went to Joshua tree twice and Yosemite National Park. It was such an amazing experience! There's just something so peaceful and serene about being in the middle of nowhere and being surrounded by nature. I really enjoyed just walking around and taking photos. We've gotten better at packing for camping and invested in some equipment that makes it 1000 better. Here are a few items that I would love to splurge on for further camping trips. Hope you all are having a great week! What are your weekend plans? I am going to be attending a friend's wedding where there will be about 5 people there. Such a low key thing and I love it. It will be amazing! Can't wait to celebrate.

Masscob// Fall 2011

I'm afraid that fall weather hasn't quite hit us in California. Loving this collection by <a href="http://www.masscob.com/"target="blank">Masscob, a spanish line. Wish it was gonna get cold enough to wear that Lambskin Coat! I have to admit that I've been on a hunt for them since I saw this beautiful model in New York wearing one while we were out during fashion week. Oh well, guess that's the difference between California and New York. ugh. not being able to wear loads of cute winter clothes...
Speaking of New York, my brother's band, <a href="http://www.fidlarla.com/"target="blank">FIDLAR is there for CMJ. If you are around, there is a <a href="http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/news/44313-the-pitchfork-guide-to-cmj-2011/"target="blank">handful of free shows. I embrace the over sized sweater look. I got one from a friend for my birthday and its an amazing shade of red. Its comfy, its big and looks great with any pair of jeans! The next look I love is the play on this cobalt blue shade. I don't usually wear too much color but this shade is really calling my name for some reason. I also love how she has coordinated her hat, dress and tights with the same color. Bob hair cuts have really been on my mind as of late, only because my hair is down to my hips now and I desperately need to cut it. I probably wont go this short but I'd like to daydream about it and what type of outfits would compliment it. This girl looks absolutely adorable. What do you think? Lastly, leather mini skirts are on trend this season. I run into them everywhere these days. Zara has a pretty cute one that I might have to splurge on. We will see if I can brave my legs in the up coming cooler weather.

Hope your having a great day.

Margaret Howell: Fall 2011

LOVE LOVE LOVE this collection. I love that song. I was floored when I first heard Eva Cassidy covering it. She has such incredible tone to her voice.

Sorry for my absence. Been so busy lately that I forget to stop in to say hello! So, H E L L O.

I am really looking forward to fall. Its been a great long summer with lots of adventures but it will be nice to bundle up and sip on festive drinks like apple cider or a hot toddy. One of my favorite things about this time of year is that love to cook and I am gearing up to try a bunch of recipes in prep for thanksgiving!

I know I'm jumping the gun with it not even being Halloween but, as you know I have a tendency to get overloaded with other projects and plans so, planning ahead this time. Ryan and I are heading to Grass Valley in Northern California for thanksgiving this year then off to Hawaii for christmas with my parents. Its always funny that we go from a cold place to a tropical hot place back to back. Like some type of teleportation. Speaking of that... we've been really into 1960s sci fi movies lately. We watched the Time Machine based off of a H.G. Wells book. Have you read it? Its so funny to see what they thought of the future back in the 1960s.

Anyway, here's a few of my favorites that I've had my eyes on. I won't be getting anything anytime soon since I practically broke the bank with that darn Alexa Chung for Madewell collection. Serrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrriously. Can't wait for tax season already. Until then its SAVE SAVE SAVE.

Datcha

Ulia Tre by Ross Laurence via Fashion Gone Rogue

These images make me want to go frolic in the woods. Also love the fact that it was styled with pieces from H&M and Zara which makes me feel comforted that not all fashion editorals have to be high end driven. Sure, I'd love a $5,000 dress from Alexander McQueen but honestly, the price tag is a bit steep and I wouldn't know where I could go to even have a chance to wear such a beautiful garment. haha. I keep thinking of what Bill Cunningham kept point out in his documentary, BIll Cunningham, New York. He loves capturing street style because its a completely different element of fashion. Its practical fashion. What people actually wear when they are out and about vs. what we wish we were wearing, capturing these beautiful candid moments.

Hope all is well. It was such an incredible performance and I am once again smitten by her as I was many years ago when I saw her first play at a tiny bar in Solano Beach. I think there was a total of 20 people. I was in complete shock how such a huge sultry voice came out of this tiny woman! Anyway, her new album, Metals just came out today. Do yourself a favor and get it. This album feels like more of her earlier stuff but with more depth and a kind of haunting vibe. I'm telling you, there are some catchy lines that sorta creep in your head and end up singing at random times of the day.

some favorite tracks: How Come You Never Go There

                                       Graveyards

                                       Comfort Me

If your hesitant, peep the live performances I was at HERE via Yahoo.

The above photos are from a secret show a few days ago in the Church of Intersession in Harlem. There are so much more but I just wanted to let you take a peek at how beautiful Yosemite is! I can't believe I have never been there before. If you've never been, you really need to go. Its breathtaking and is such a peaceful and serene place. I wish I could've stayed longer. Perhaps another time...

For more, go to my <a href="http://thebaxley.tumblr.com/"target="blank">photography tumblr where I will be updating with tons more!

Hope you are enjoying your week.

P.S. Hiking gear is not very fashionable. I searched high and low for cute hiking boots but they all look the same bulky and brown. haha. Now, there's a market that's waiting to be touched. Any takers? I know my outfits here are nothing to significant but wearing clothes that are actually practical for the occasion was a must!

It's finally here...

I promise that this is the last you will hear me talk about this dang collection. hahaha. Here to share one of my new favorite up and coming models, Edie Campbell. Actually, she's been around so she's not super new but I keep seeing her pop up everywhere more often, I guess. Or perhaps you've seen Orla Kiely's look book from a season ago which was shot by talented Venetia Scott? If you haven't seen it, take a gander <a href="http://www.cloudsandcandy.com/2011/04/orla-kiely.html"target="blank">here.
She has this 60s vibe to her that I adore! I especially love that drop waisted line dress.

Whew. what a name! Ursina's style is effortless and amazing. I love her long hair and hippie edge. My hair is getting quite long as well and I look to her for inspiration. I might get too annoyed and cut it off but we will see with fall around the corner, I may need the extra warmth. So who is this stylish mystery woman? She is a stylist assistant to Camille Bidault Waddington. No wonder, right? I could keep going on and on but I won't. I will leave it to you to research and discover because that's part of the fun.
I hope you are having a lovely week. I am finding more and more inspirations that make me excited for fall so stay tuned for me to start coming back to the blog on a more regular basis.

In other exciting news, I am heading to Yosemite to camp this weekend! I can't wait! I've always wanted to go and never got around to it. I hope to take tons of beautiful photos and share my experiences.

I cannot express to you how much I am in awe and completely inspired by this woman. She has been around for a long time yet manages to create brilliant innovative music each round. I love her sense of total abandon to her art and music. Completely fearless to what others think. She creates such a magical world inviting you in it. Much like the late Lee Alexander McQueen, she is able to see past this world and into other ones through creativity and imagination. They both have this extraordinary ability to embrace the future while drawing influences from history.
Here is Dazed & Confused 200th Issue in which she is a guest editor. I absolutely love these colorful images that coincide with her new album.
Photography by Sam Falls and styled by Katy England

I don't see the polka dot blouse from the video and the dress in the video was a creamy pink/beige color and in the look book here, its red. So, perhaps there are other options that will be revealed at the opening party. Any of these strike you? I am really eyeing those leopard boots and the black coat the most or perhaps the lace top or dress. Haven't decided yet.
