“I’ve always been a huge fan of the show, I think they are so amazing,” Miley said of the “Sex and the City” actresses, who stunned Hollywood in 2008 by making the difficult transfer from small screen to big while taking in nearly $60 million on its opening weekend. “It has such a great cast, and you can see the chemistry with all the girls.”

Although Miley had to be a bit tight-lipped about the details of her cameo, on-set photos seem to reveal that she and outspoken sexpot Samantha Jones (played by Kim Cattrall) show up at the red-carpet premiere of a movie wearing the same dress. “I was surprised [that they asked me],” Cyrus said of the scene. “It was a very glamorous day for me, to be on the carpet with the girls and share a really cool scene with Kim Cattrall — who I love. I think she’s so great.

“It was really, really fun and it was a big moment for me,” Miley said of reaching that level of fame where people start asking you to make high-profile appearances as yourself. “It’s one of those perks. You do so many things that aren’t as much fun and are really the hard parts — but that was just one of those things where it was the day you got to play.”

Speaking of hard parts, Miley takes on what might be the toughest of her career with “The Last Song,” her first non-”Hannah” starring role on the big screen, and an emotional drama to boot. The film is due in theaters March 31, roughly two months before Carrie Bradshaw and the “SATC” gang return to theaters.

“I’ve always really been into the show, and they added a couple different cameos with all different types of people,” Miley said of a cast of cameos that reportedly also includes Penélope Cruz, Liza Minnelli and Tim Gunn. “And they asked me to do one, which was a super big honor.

“It was really easy and really fun,” the 17-year-old star said of the cameo — but unfortunately, all she knows about the film is limited to her own scene. “I haven’t seen any of it. All I did was my one tiny little part, where I just have to stand there. So I don’t know [what the plot is].

“I’m excited, trust me,” insisted the longtime “SATC” fan, saying that she’s already making plans for a May 27 girls’ night out with her friends. “I’ll be waiting in front of the theater to go see it.”

“My dad has always been super involved with the troops so [the producers] always try to find things that are close to our hearts and that we’re really involved in,” Miley, 17, told PEOPLE.

Adds Billy Ray, 48: “This past December I was in Afghanistan and Iraq and that trip inspired the writers to say let’s do an episode to say thank you to the troops.”

In between takes, all the kids in the studio audience – many of whom have parents who are deployed – were also given the chance to tape greetings to their moms and dads abroad.

“It’s going to be a satellite thing where the troops can see their kids. It’s really cool that they’re having the opportunity to say hi to a mom or dad they haven’t seen in a long time,” Miley explains. “I think that’s the coolest thing.”

Nicholas on his favorite love stories: “A romance novel is supposed to make you escape into a fantasy of romance. What is the purpose of what I do? These are love stories. They went from (Greek tragedies), to Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet,’ then Jane Austen did it, put a new human twist on it. Hemingway did it with ‘A Farewell to Arms.’”

Miley on her transition from Hannah to Ronnie: “With the book, I’ve only gotten through part of ‘The Last Song,’ because the movie started first. It’s got things I would like…even the name — I picked ‘Ronnie’ for my granddad. Things like that. But it was not written to make it easy for me, either. Anything that would make her [Ronnie's] parents happy is something she doesn’t want to do.”

The Last Song opens in theaters Wednesday, March 31st.

On Sunday night (March 7), Hollywood took some time out from its busy schedule to wrap up the award season with the 82nd Academy Awards. The big show, hosted by Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin, featured big victories for Kathryn Bigelow and “The Hurt Locker.” The ceremony was also a big night for a handful of young stars making their mark on the Academy, including Taylor Lautner, Amanda Seyfried and Kristen Stewart. One of those stars that turned a lot of heads (and earned herself the title of “Best Dressed” care of Hollywood Crush) was Miley Cyrus. She hit the red carpet wearing a lovely strapless gold dress that was both stunning and simple. During the show, Cyrus and Sefried took the stage to present the award for Best Original Song (sadly, none of the tunes from “Hannah Montana: The Movie” were nominated), eventually handing the statuette off to T-Bone Burnett and Ryan Bingham (who tag-teamed on “The Weary Kind” from “Crazy Heart”).

Cyrus wasn’t the only music star making her mark on the Hollywood establishment on Sunday night, as fellow crossover sensations Queen Latifah, Mariah Carey, Nick Cannon, Jennifer Lopez and Lenny Kravitz all joined the party as well. Will’s Comments: I think that Miley looked wonderful at the Oscars.

Cyrus asked the Poison star to join her in the studio for her reworking of the band’s classic Every Rose Has Its Thorn, and Michael’s used the opportunity to play the teen pop star a bunch of new tracks.

The teen singer fell in love with one of the tunes, Nothing To Lose, and asked if she could perform with the rocker on the track.

Michaels tells Billboard.com, “When we were in the studio, I said, ‘Do you want to hear some of my new tracks?’ She said ‘I’d love to,’ and I played her Nothing to Lose and she fell in love with it and said she’d love to sing on the song. I was like, ‘That’d be killer!’”

And the rocker admits he was impressed with Cyrus’ Stevie Nicks-style vocals: “One of her heroes is Stevie Nicks. I produced and recorded Stevie before, so I said, ‘OK, let’s take that approach…’ She ended up having a great time doing it.”

Nothing to Lose will appear on Michaels’ upcoming Custom Built album.

A brand new single called “Nothing to Lose” performed by Bret Michaels has made its way out. In this track, the Poison’s lead vocalist teams up with his junior Miley Cyrus, singing the chorus together.

“Yeah, she does when she falls down on me / So close I can feel you breathe,” part of the verses they sing together read. “Tonight in the darkness theres nothing to lose / If the truth is all we can see / If I fall for you, could you fall for me.”

Beside “Nothing to Lose” which has been put forward for digital download, Bret Michaels and Miley Cyrus are also expected to hook up in a revamped version of the Poison’s classic rock song “Every Rose Has Its Thorn”. The Disney star previously described their duet work as “a rad collaboration.”

“It shows that two artists that seem so different on the outside can come together and organically create something that we are both proud of. I look forward to finishing the song in LA with Bret and John Shanks who is producing,” she explained.

The track is from the 17-year-old star’s upcoming movie The Last Song, which hits theaters on March 31. The film, based on Nicholas Sparks’ best-selling novel of the same title, revolves around a rebellious teenager (Cyrus) who has to spend the summer with her estranged father, a concert pianist.

Cyrus’ co-star and real-life boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth, is also featured in the “When I Look at You” video.

The single is produced by Adam Shankman and Hillary Lindsey.

“‘When I Look at You’ was actually a song that was going to go on my next record,” Cyrus explains in a behind-the-scene clip of the video shoot. “We listened to it and went, ‘Oh my gosh, this could not be more perfect.’ It describes the entire movie.”

The Hannah Montana star didn’t just donate her red carpet dress, she headed up the celebrity eBay auction with all proceeds going to charity.  Along with the dress, Miley also auctioned off a pair of tickets to the premiere of her upcoming movie The Last Song.  The tickets sold for a whopping $5,900 with all proceeds going to the American Red Cross for the purpose of helping victims of January’s earthquake in Haiti.

The highest selling item on the star-studded eBay auction was Britney Spears’ custom Versace dress worn by the star at the 2008 VMA’s. It sold for $8,100 – a huge chunk of the total raised by Miley Cyrus’ eBay auction for Haiti.  And that, Miley Cyrus fans, is why the Disney star is listed as one of the Top 50 celebrities to use fame to raise money for charity!
