The duo caught up with the newspaper to chat about their favorite books, Miley’s character Ronnie and the upcoming The Last Song. Check it:

Nicholas on his favorite love stories: “A romance novel is supposed to make you escape into a fantasy of romance. What is the purpose of what I do? These are love stories. They went from (Greek tragedies), to Shakespeare’s ‘Romeo and Juliet,’ then Jane Austen did it, put a new human twist on it. Hemingway did it with ‘A Farewell to Arms.’”

Miley on her transition from Hannah to Ronnie: “With the book, I’ve only gotten through part of ‘The Last Song,’ because the movie started first. It’s got things I would like…even the name — I picked ‘Ronnie’ for my granddad. Things like that. But it was not written to make it easy for me, either. Anything that would make her [Ronnie's] parents happy is something she doesn’t want to do.”

The Last Song opens in theaters Wednesday, March 31st.

On Sunday night (March 7), Hollywood took some time out from its busy schedule to wrap up the award season with the 82nd Academy Awards. The big show, hosted by Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin, featured big victories for Kathryn Bigelow and “The Hurt Locker.” The ceremony was also a big night for a handful of young stars making their mark on the Academy, including Taylor Lautner, Amanda Seyfried and Kristen Stewart. One of those stars that turned a lot of heads (and earned herself the title of “Best Dressed” care of Hollywood Crush) was Miley Cyrus. She hit the red carpet wearing a lovely strapless gold dress that was both stunning and simple. During the show, Cyrus and Sefried took the stage to present the award for Best Original Song (sadly, none of the tunes from “Hannah Montana: The Movie” were nominated), eventually handing the statuette off to T-Bone Burnett and Ryan Bingham (who tag-teamed on “The Weary Kind” from “Crazy Heart”).

Cyrus wasn’t the only music star making her mark on the Hollywood establishment on Sunday night, as fellow crossover sensations Queen Latifah, Mariah Carey, Nick Cannon, Jennifer Lopez and Lenny Kravitz all joined the party as well. Will’s Comments: I think that Miley looked wonderful at the Oscars.

Cyrus asked the Poison star to join her in the studio for her reworking of the band’s classic Every Rose Has Its Thorn, and Michael’s used the opportunity to play the teen pop star a bunch of new tracks.

The teen singer fell in love with one of the tunes, Nothing To Lose, and asked if she could perform with the rocker on the track.

Michaels tells Billboard.com, “When we were in the studio, I said, ‘Do you want to hear some of my new tracks?’ She said ‘I’d love to,’ and I played her Nothing to Lose and she fell in love with it and said she’d love to sing on the song. I was like, ‘That’d be killer!’”

And the rocker admits he was impressed with Cyrus’ Stevie Nicks-style vocals: “One of her heroes is Stevie Nicks. I produced and recorded Stevie before, so I said, ‘OK, let’s take that approach…’ She ended up having a great time doing it.”

Nothing to Lose will appear on Michaels’ upcoming Custom Built album.

Will’s Comments: I heard this song on a local radio station. It sounded really great.

A brand new single called “Nothing to Lose” performed by Bret Michaels has made its way out. In this track, the Poison’s lead vocalist teams up with his junior Miley Cyrus, singing the chorus together.

“Yeah, she does when she falls down on me / So close I can feel you breathe,” part of the verses they sing together read. “Tonight in the darkness theres nothing to lose / If the truth is all we can see / If I fall for you, could you fall for me.”

Beside “Nothing to Lose” which has been put forward for digital download, Bret Michaels and Miley Cyrus are also expected to hook up in a revamped version of the Poison’s classic rock song “Every Rose Has Its Thorn”. The Disney star previously described their duet work as “a rad collaboration.”

“It shows that two artists that seem so different on the outside can come together and organically create something that we are both proud of. I look forward to finishing the song in LA with Bret and John Shanks who is producing,” she explained.

The track is from the 17-year-old star’s upcoming movie The Last Song, which hits theaters on March 31. The film, based on Nicholas Sparks’ best-selling novel of the same title, revolves around a rebellious teenager (Cyrus) who has to spend the summer with her estranged father, a concert pianist.

Cyrus’ co-star and real-life boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth, is also featured in the “When I Look at You” video.

The single is produced by Adam Shankman and Hillary Lindsey.

“‘When I Look at You’ was actually a song that was going to go on my next record,” Cyrus explains in a behind-the-scene clip of the video shoot. “We listened to it and went, ‘Oh my gosh, this could not be more perfect.’ It describes the entire movie.”

The Hannah Montana star didn’t just donate her red carpet dress, she headed up the celebrity eBay auction with all proceeds going to charity.  Along with the dress, Miley also auctioned off a pair of tickets to the premiere of her upcoming movie The Last Song.  The tickets sold for a whopping $5,900 with all proceeds going to the American Red Cross for the purpose of helping victims of January’s earthquake in Haiti.

The highest selling item on the star-studded eBay auction was Britney Spears’ custom Versace dress worn by the star at the 2008 VMA’s. It sold for $8,100 – a huge chunk of the total raised by Miley Cyrus’ eBay auction for Haiti.  And that, Miley Cyrus fans, is why the Disney star is listed as one of the Top 50 celebrities to use fame to raise money for charity!

Miley Cyrus’ ex-boyfriend wants to record a duet with her.

Underwear model Justin Gaston, who dated ‘The Climb’ singer for nine months until June 2009, would work with her if the right opportunity came along.

He said: “Ah sure. In the future, if it’s a great song then why not.”

Justin, 21, initially met 17-year-old Miley when her father Billy Ray Cyrus was presenting talent show ‘Nashville Star’ in 2008, on which he was a contestant.

The pair split after Miley went to shoot the movie ‘The Last Song’ and met and began dating co-star and former ‘Neighbours’ actor Liam Hemsworth.

Friends of Miley have recently claimed she wants to settle down and get married.

A source said: “She says she can’t wait to turn 18 this year so she could do whatever she wants – even marry Liam – and no one can stop her.”

Ashley Phillips’ family breeds German Shepherds.

They learned Miley’s father, Billy Ray Cyrus, has a German Shepherd and e-mailed Billy Ray’s website.

When the Phillips’ had a litter last November, Miley’s mom wanted one for the teen star.

The Phillips family met Miley backstage at her Charlotte concert late last year and showed her a picture of the dog. The dog was too young at the time to be separated from its mother.

Last month, the Phillips’ brought the dog to the Cyrus’ California home.

The Phillips’ watched a taping of Miley’s show, “Hannah Montana” while they were in California.

Miley named her new friend “Mate.”

The 2010 Kids’ Choice Awards airs live on March 27 at 8 p.m. on Nickelodeon.

And now the Herve Legere dress that Miley wore to this year’s Grammy Awards has already raised over two thousand dollars on eBay to help people in Haiti. As we’re writing this, 66 people have already bid on the dress and the current price is $2,575.00. Bidding doesn’t end until February 18, so that number will definitely continue to grow.

“I think it’s really important that everybody come together because disaster relief isn’t just now about the problem,” Miley says about putting her dress up for auction to benefit the American Red Cross. “It’s how we’re going to help years from now. We have to restore an entire place. It just can’t be one person, one foundation, one group of people.”
