News of the crossover star’s new 2010 album first broke back in March, when Cyrus broke the news while finishing up shooting on the fourth and final season of the hit ‘Hannah Montana’ Disney series. For her follow-up to 2008’s chart-topping (and appropriately titled) ‘Breakout’ album, Cyrus has teamed up with Grammy Award-winning producer John Shanks, as well as with her longtime studio collaborators Tim James and Antonina Armato, who both co-wrote and produced the new 2010 album’s first single and title track, ‘Can’t Be Tamed.’

The single, in fact, will make its worldwide debut on Friday, April 30 at 12 PM Eastern Time (9 AM Pacific) on MySpace Music. After that, it’ll hit radio on May 3, and eventually make its way to the iTunes store on May 18. Cyrus’ label, Hollywood Records, describes the new single as a “self-empowering song in which Miley asserts that she has to stay true to herself in relationships.” The new album will also be packaged with a special DVD, containing rare footage from Miley’s worldwide sold out ‘Miley World’ tour. Not much else is known about the rest of the songs featured on the album, but Cyrus did tell the Philadelphia Daily News that much of her new material was inspired by the music of groups like The Killers.

Most of the speculation surrounding the release of Miley Cyrus’ new album, though, isn’t so much on what it will sound like, but what her career will look like afterwards. In an interview with the Telegraph, Cyrus made clear her intentions to focus more on her fledgling film career, which is likely to get a major boost with last month’s release of ‘The Last Song,’ a drama that author Nicholas Sparks wrote with the teen idol in mind. As for what kind of work she’ll be doing next, though, Miley remains a bit unsure.

But that’s exactly how she likes it. “One day I’m telling my mom, you know, I want to do an action movie and then I want to be doing comedy and then all different types of things,” Miley explains. “I get a little bored so hopefully I’ll get a chance to do a little bit of everything.” Change, then, is definitely in the air, even if the exact direction in which that change is blowing remains uncertain. As Miley confidently says, though, “I’m ending a chapter that’s been wonderful and starting a new one.”

Lionsgate, Double Feature Films, and Mandate Pictures are in pre-production on the upcoming feature film ‘LOL’ starring Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore. Moore will play Miley Cyrus’ mother in an American version of the 2008 French hit L.O.L (Laughing Out Loud).

Original filmmaker Lisa Azuelos will also write and direct the Hollywood remake, about a high school teenager and her divorced mom as they attempt to get on with their lives after break-ups. LOL is described as a fresh coming-of-age story for modern times.

Lisa Azuelos won a coveted Jury Prize for the French version of L.O.L at the Monte-Carlo Comedy Film Festival in 2008. Sophie Marceau also won for Best Actress.

LOL’s producers include Double Feature Films’ Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher (Erin Brockovich, Along Came Polly, Pulp Fiction), and Nathan Kahane (Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, and the Oscar winning Juno). Romain Le Grand, who produced the original French version, is also producing this film.

The 17-year-old actress and singer – who stars in new movie The Last Song – is about to start shooting the final episodes of the Disney Channel TV series, which is ending after four award-winning seasons.

“I’m probably not going to do much more TV after Hannah Montana – I love movies so I can’t wait to continue to do that,” she said.

“I’d just like to continue making films. It’s what I really love to do and it’s my main passion. I love music and I’m excited about the next record, but film is what I’m really looking forward to so I can’t wait to continue to grow.”

Miley – who rose to fame as Hannah Montana – will be sad to see the show end.

“I’m sure we all will get emotional. I’ve been doing it since I was 11, so it’s a huge chapter in my life, but I’ve got a lot more to do and I’m excited about moving onto new things,” she said.

She added: “It’s going to be hard, leaving that Hannah security blanket behind. I love that part of my life but I think it will be good for all of us and bring a lot of new things.”

The Last Song will be released in theaters across the UK on April 30.

Despite the number of Twitter accounts claiming to belong to the Miley Cyrus that have tens of thousands of followers, a rep for the teen queen assured E! News that Cyrus has not opted to rejoin the site since closing her account in October.

From @MILEYCYRUS to @mileycyrus_ to @MileyCyrusNet, not one is the real deal.

After reaching the million-plus mark in followers, Cyrus opted to quit Twitter after boyfriend Liam Hemsworth requested that she delete her account “with good reason.”

And since then, Cyrus (who still maintains a subscription-based official website and blog) has become an outspoken opponent of Facebook, Twitter and too much free social networking in general.

“I have a lot more real friends as opposed to friends who are on the Internet who I’m talking to—which is like not cool, not safe, not fun and most likely not real. I think everything is just better when you’re not so wrapped up,” she said last month.

Yeah, we’ll see what happens when Liam decides Twitter is for him, after all.

The four-bedroom, four-and-a-half bathroom Spanish estate is located on almost one acre and includes a tennis court, pool, large master suite with his and her marble baths, a spacious living room with a fireplace and a two-bedroom guest house. Miley’s new abode also comes with maximum security, as the home is hidden behind a large brick wall covered in ivy and a wrought-iron gate. The house also boasts a long, private driveway.

While there is not air date set for the episode just yet, it will be great to see Miley Cyrus and Dolly Parton again on Hannah Montana.  I think the way they work together on the show is great for the viewers.

She recently revealed on The View that she’s become a bit disheartened because “the music industry isn’t as positive as I’d like it to be.”

She didn’t backtrack at all when I caught up with her last night at the Hollywood premiere of The Last Song…

“I’ve got a record coming out in June and then I’m done,” she said. “I just want to work in movies. That’s what I like and that’s what I want to be doing.”

The Last Song, opening March 31, is Cyrus’ first major acting project outside of Hannah Montana.

Not only does the flick’s director, Julie Anne Robinson, have high hopes for Cyrus, but so does her costar and real-life beau Liam Hemsworth. He says he wasn’t surprised when Cyrus held her own during the movie’s more dramatic scenes.

“You know how she feels when she’s feeling down and you know how she feels when she’s feeling up,” he said. “She’s a very expressive person and that works on the screen. It really does, and she’s really good.”

For the second week in a row, Katie Stevens hit the right notes for the judges on “American Idol.”

Stevens performed Fergie’s “Big Girls Don’t Cry,” as Idol contestants turned to Billboard’s chart-toppers on Tuesday, picking from a vast selection of No. 1 hits from the Hot 100.

Kara DioGuardi, who has been critical of Stevens, praised her song choice. “This is the lane for you: pop with R&B leanings,” DioGuardi said. “It was a different Katie. This is where belong.”

Judge Randy Jackson said “you actually listened to us and picked a younger song. Even the outfit is a little younger. I’m liking that you’re at least listening.”

Ellen DeGeneres said that Stevens had the “best performance” since she’s been on the live shows.

Stevens got some advice from another 17-year-old Tuesday night, Miley Cyrus who met with the contestants in rehearsals leading up to the show. The teen pop-star worked with the contestants, but the advice didn’t pay off for some of the singers.

Stevens said Cyrus boosted her confidence. “Working with Miley today was great,” Stevens said. “It’s great to get feedback from somebody who’s in the business and also my age.”

Cyrus told Stevens to be true to herself on stage.

“Remember who you are and what you love about music,” Cyrus said.

Simon Cowell said meeting Cyrus benefited Stevens, but stood by his comments from last week that she should try singing country.

“It was probably the best thing that could ever happen to you,” Cowell said.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Miley Cyrus might be moving on, but her “Hannah Montana” Disney Channel hit TV series is set to live for years to come.

The fourth and final season of the show about a teenager who has the best of both worlds as a schoolgirl with a secret life as a pop star will start airing in July 2010, Disney said on Wednesday.

The title will be “Hannah Montana Forever” and will find Miley Cyrus’s character questioning whether she can continue with her double life as singing sensation Hannah Montana or leave it all behind for a more ordinary existence.

Guest stars will include singer Sheryl Crow, actor Ray Liotta and many more in what producers are planning as a bumper, surprise-filled farewell series.

The final episode will air in the spring of 2011. Cyrus told reporters recently that fans of the show around the world “deserve a really respectful ending”, but gave no details.

Cyrus, 17, who has played “Hannah Montana” since 2006, is moving on to a movie career with the romantic drama “The Last Song”, which opens in the United States on March 31.

She told Parade magazine in an interview this week that she was “going to rejoice” at leaving behind her alter ego, saying she felt she had grown out of the role.

Disney Channel however has reassured young fans that the show will continue airing the total 100 episodes of the four seasons around the world, daily, “for years to come.”

“Hannah Montana” is one of the biggest marketing brands in the world, encompassing music, TV, movies, books, clothing and videogames.

The season three finale, broadcast earlier this month, was seen by almost seven million viewers in the United States alone and ranked as the biggest U.S. cable TV program for the week.
