11.13.2008 - UPOP No Longer On XM Satellites

UPOP will be off the XM satellites indefinitely, though they can still be heard on XM radio online and on Directv. All of these changes come with the merger with Sirius and them wanting to consolidate all of their operations. This means many changes in the programming � more Sirius and only the best of XM. To make matters worse, Worldspace Satellite Radio has also filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection as of October - home of UPOP. As for the website, we�ll keep Club Upop going, though we are looking at expanding into new ways to get you the programming you love from UPOP. It could be either via HD Radio or Internet Streaming to your phone. Unfortunately, the second option would require us to figure how to pay the royalties. Stay tuned for more details and send us your suggestions of how you would like to get UPOP in the future.

Through early November, UPop will be featuring the Best of Upop Interviews and Performances. October 31, the classic \"Happy Al-O Ween!\" the Wierd Al Upop Special with Ted Kelly - Three time Grammy Winner Weird Al Yankovic and the UPop Happy Al O Week Special takes place at 10AM EST 1400GMT on UPop 29. Listen to Weird Al take the Upop listeners through every song from his recent Straight out of Linwood CD! November 1 will feature the entire Live 8 concert which was hosted by Ted Kelly and Tania Shillam (she puts the \"brit\" in Celebrity!) at Hyde Park in London starting at 7:30 AM EST / 11:30GMT November 4 will feature a new exclusive interview and performance with \"Your Vegas,\" Ted sat down with them just prior to the announcement of their upcoming tour opening for Duran Duran. Through early November Upop will be playing back some of the listeners favorite interviews, from Ted Kelly\'s chats Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, Take That & Amy Winehouse to Zach Overking\'s interviews with Panic!, Matisyahu and Nelly Furtado and Joe Bonadonna\'s Spill Canvas interview, Also tune into to hear Mark Daley\'s Chemical Brothers, Garbage and Pet Shop Boys interviews including the Upop Sessions@Abbey Road Studio 2 (four years of UK, Europe and American star performances over 100 performers live from Studio 2, They were the first and only satellite radio broadcasts from Abbey Road!) Upop will be leaving American Satellite Radio in early November but should still be available in the US on-line @XM and on DirecTV as well as WorldSpace Satellite Radio in Europe, Africa, M.E. and Asia. Ted, who besides programmming Upop, was also responsible for putting together all of the global promotions and event in Africa, Europe, Middle East and Asia for Upop and WorldSpace\'s 40 other channels was asked to remain with WorldSpace during their international restructuring period. While there, he told us that he will still be providing many of the UPop exclusives to clubupop.com and free ITunes podcasts for American and international listeners. There will also be new, upcoming Upop interviews with Estelle, Gabriella Cilmi, Adele and more. Ted Kelly and his World Party, Joe Bonadonna Jr., Mark Daley and Kandy Klutch have spent the summer on line, live from the Mandela Concert in London and on WorldSpace Satellite Radio in 134 countries but now they are back where America loves \'em! Ted Kelly\'s World Party is satellite\'s radio\'s longest running breakfast show, live across the planet since 2000 on WorldSpace and 2001 on XM and Joe Bonadoona Jr. hosts satellite radio\'s only global all request show.
