Once they announced they were making bb10 they came out and said that they were going to bleed until it was launched. They didn't expect growth with a dying os. Samsung will be dying in the phone market soon with Google making nexus devices so who does that leave? Apple? There will always be competition and with bb10 I feel they have a fighting chance if people realize its a different os and company than it was 2 years ago.

Re: RIM to advertise BlackBerry 10 during Super Bowl

Wow, so poorly informed. Apple has already announced that their phone is better. What more do people need? Besides I don't believe that Apple has given RIM permission to compete in their market. RIM could bet sued. Apple's legal department has had several weeks off with no one to sue and it's a brand new year. And anyhow, everyone might have already been told not to buy products from other companies. If you're an Applehead it's important to remain faithful.

Re: RIM to advertise BlackBerry 10 during Super Bowl

Olympus (the camera company) advertised their mRobe mp3 player during the Superbowl. Bank on it. There are really only 2 companies in the handheld business; Samsung and Apple. Everyone else, including Nokia has less than 4% market share and slipping, that's 4% globally. Almost of it is in Europe. In the US RIM has 1.1% market share. Even in Europe though, with 4% broadly, that's down from 27% October 2011. In France market share dropped from 16% to 8% in 1 year and that's the good news. In Spain they dropped from 24% to 3% in 1 year. RIM is finished. Their only strategy is to sell the server side messaging hub business and whatever client side security technology can be shoehorned into Android. And dump the rest in the trash. Maybe Microsoft could buy it but it's unlikely given their blinders and paranoia against anything that either isn't home grown or can't be used to strictly to cannibalize someone else's market share - which RIM clearly can't. No - it has to be an Android play as an 'enterprise' messaging platform with built in better security for Outlook, Exchange, Sharepoint and Lotus Notes integration.
