Hi Gang!

Last week things felt a little heavy.

After years of being a coach I know that a little heaviness is OK. I do not have to be over-the-moon happy every second of the day and, as my mother says, “this too shall pass”.

It wasn’t anything particularly dramatic – I just felt a little “off”. I spent the week cracking jokes about how the recent solar flares were creating a disturbance in “The Force” and simply rode out the grey.

Over the weekend I was preparing for the March 20th launch of the Make Your Life Program by taking myself through the process that each new LifeMaker undertakes as they begin to uncover what they want to create and experience in their life from our time together.

Even though I have spent years with this process and practice and teach it daily, it always presents new surprises – and always the very best kind!

As I re-took the Make Your Life quiz and began filling out the accompanying “Prelude to a Dream” form a week of gloom began to lift.

With each question something new was unlocked and at some whole other level my very being reorganized itself.

Right there at the dining room table I witnessed the amazing process that unfolds when we focus and bring intention to our lives from a place of harmony, truth and light. And this is exactly why I created this program.

In a world of pressure, stress, fear and never-ending to do’s there is a more simple, more graceful and joyful way to live and each lesson of the Make Your Life program teaches you how to dance toward the future you want most while enjoying every juicy minute of the unfolding.

After delighting in the process of reconnection and grounding, the final question on the form brought the day’s journey to a head.

If you could fill in this blank with any word or words that best describe the life you would like to create, what word(s) would you use?

I was out for dinner last week with a dear friend when the conversation turned to sustaining happiness and quality of life.

“How long have you been here?” my friend asked, gesturing in my general direction.

I knew that by “here” she did not mean the restaurant or even Cleveland. What she was referencing was my way of “being”, the person I had become.

I paused. “About 10 years -ever since I started living the principles.” I responded thoughtfully. “Life is a lot more balanced, the highs aren’t “manic” and the lows only go so low and they are not low for long. I’m happy and life is nothing short of an adventure.”

“I know!” she exclaimed.  “It is like I am living in this entirely different zone! I am more happy than I have ever been in my life!”

To see this enthusiasm for life, this spontaneous expression of joy and awe for living, is why I created the Make Your Life Program. 

Living in this “zone” where we stand responsible and powerful in support of our own happiness and in the creation of our dreams – this is totally where it is at!

Only 13 short months ago, this friend found me on the internet and hired me as her coach. I did not know it when we first met but apparently that time she reached out to me was the lowest of her life.  A dark period at the edge of what had been several dark years.

Together we got her reconnected to what really matters to her, to the longings of her heart that had been stifled out of doubt and fear. 

She turned her thinking around.  Having always had an idea of the importance of optimism and how your thoughts create, this time she really got it, owned it and made focusing on the positive her top priority.

Today she is a powerful business owner, committed wife and mother and she is on a mission to bring so much goodness to the world.

It’s time to Make Your Life!

I know it has been awhile.  Ok, longer than awhile.  It’s been FOREVER since I wrote a full-on blog post!

You see, I have been in this interesting place; a place where contemplation and grounding have been more important than action and output.

Many months ago, I went through an uncommon period of activity that was so intense and so demanding that something mind-boggling happened!  For a period of no less than 5 weeks I was so swept up in life that I totally and completely forgot to Make My Life.

Me, Coach Joelle, the master Life-Maker, creator of the Make Your Life Program! The person who loves nothing more than to create life and live my dreams – and I had totally disconnected from all that I value, from all that I am in the name of productivity and a mad dash to who knows where?.

Once I had woken up, things became very clear:

1) 5 weeks of unconscious living was NOT OK! In no way was this the quality of life experience that I found acceptable for myself.

2) I realized anew that if I could totally lose sight of my own creative power and my process anyone could and I had some serious work to do.

First things first -  I had to step back … WAYYYYY BACK! I looked at the myriad projects, ambitions, aspirations I had, the programs I wanted to write and the products I wanted to deliver and asked myself:

a) Why do you want to build this?

b) Is this project/action/ambition essential to your career, fulfilling you destiny, maintaining or growing your way of life?

c) Are any of these projects just “nice ideas”? If they never happened would it affect my income, my purpose, my level of joy?

d) Does all this have to be done right now?

e) What is most essential?

The things that were most important rose to the top and everything else had to wait until I had the space to invite them back in. So here is what made the top of the list other than, of course, serving my amazing clients and making my life:

Building The New Coach Joelle Inc. Business Coaching Site

One of the things I had been struggling with was that, more and more, I was reconnecting to executive coaching and serving inside of businesses but the truth was that my Coach Joelle site was never designed to do that.

I found myself writing these newsletters knowing that I had executive clients that may not want to hear about the “magic of life” or how I secretly think that I have a direct line to Arianna, Queen of the Forest (ya, I know – I’m not kidding.)

It became really clear that, in order to have full self- expression in all areas on my life and to be able to contribute what I was here to contribute, it was time to break out my business into two communities:

1) My executive business community -  whom I serve through business coaching and the iLead Self- Mastery Program and

2) The LifeMakers – those who want to join me in the dance of consciously creating their life through the Make Your Life program and life coaching.

We are still a couple months out but I wanted to share with you the beginnings of what is sure to be a kick butt business coaching site!!  I am so proud of this – it is beautiful and empowering and it is going to totally take my executive coaching to the next level.

Recreating The Make Your Life Program

The other essential undertaking was to recreate the Make Your Life Program, integrating all of the new clarity and awareness that had arisen over the years since I first conceived of it.  As far as I can tell, my job in this life is to raise the consciousness of the planet by seeking to understand the nature of life and share it with others.  The Make Your Life Program does that in a powerful and profound way and I am very proud of what it has become.

Over the months to come I will be sharing much of the wisdom in the Make Your Life Program in this blog and I will also give you an opportunity to join me for the next live program. But, for starters, I wanted to introduce you to the entry point of it all! The Make Your Life Quiz!

I created this quiz to help people determine:

a) Are you powerfully making your life?

b) Where are you strong in LifeMaking and where could you use more support?

c) What are the specific actions you can take to move into a more powerful place?

Beyond these essentials I have been taking care of my body, loving my husband and creating my life and, with these major projects coming to fruition, I am ready to get more of my energy out into the world .

I hope your New Year is off to a totally rocking start!

Jeff and I launched the year in style at an Alter Ego Party (Best darn idea for a New Year’s Party yet!)  Drinking Kale/apple juice and eating vegetables, I went as Arianna, Queen of the forest and, as you can see, if my husband could be anyone he’d be a Northern resident Orca (A61 to be specific.) 

Sure it looks like we are having fun but beneath the flowing red locks and protruding dorsal fin you will see two people declaring their truth and living their passion. I aspire to being a vegan green juicing goddess and Jeff wants to save the whales. It was the best New Year’s Eve ever and I didn’t have a drop of alcohol.

I know you have dreams too. There are pieces of your life that itch for change, ideas that want to take form, and to support you on your journey I have a Life-Making treat to kick-off your 2012.

Yes, the holiday season is upon us but what is perhaps even more exciting than Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and New Year's all rolled together is….

wait for it… wait for it….

  PLANNING TIME!!!!!

  Seriously, I rarely have more fun than when I take a day just for me and my business, find a cozy spot, pull out the poster board, goals forms, charts, markers (you name it) and dig into creative planning and goal setting to launch a new project or, in this case, a new year!

Since I figure I am not the only one who loves to do this, I wanted to put an offer out to those of you in my tribe who are ready to create the vision for a new year and would like the support and partnership of a coach by your side.

We are a little more than a week into Q2 of 2011 and it’s about that time when the really ambitious, super-exciting ideas you had about your life in January may be seeming too fantastical, unrealistic, annoying or just plain depressing.

That’s the thing about goals and dreams. Unless you keep them close, visit them often, execute on a plan, and talk about them regularly, you may just find yourself months or even years into the future stunned by the realization that life didn’t turn out as you planned and that you are right back where you started, or even worse.

If you are feeling anything less than sparkly when it comes to those ambitions, goals and visions of the future, do not fear. I have a little process that can take you from listless to totally ready to rock in about 30 minutes flat.

In our last Life Makers MasterMind we checked in on everyone’s goals and walked through a series of questions to focus, empower and reinvigorate. I have included these questions for you.

So grab your goals, get your pen warmed up and reconnect to building your future, right now.

Quarterly Goals Review

Give yourself 30 minutes to re-connect to your commitments, gain valuable insight and take action towards your 2011 goals.

Reality Check:

List your 2011 goals.

Record your current performance to goal.

Record the gap between where you are and where you intended to be by this time.

ie. Goal: $200,000/yr in sales. Actual: $100,000 in 3 months. $50,000 ahead

ie. Goal: weigh 140, feeling hot and healthy. Actual: Weigh 150. Lost 2 lbs in 3 months, have not yet developed the healthy habits to feel good every day and continue and sustain weight loss. 

What’s Working:

What are the successes you have experienced in the past 3 months – about your top goals and anything else you find significant?

What has worked/is working?

What’s not working:

Where did things not work?

Where/what situations or at what time did you find yourself falling down or moving in the wrong direction?

When you were connected to your goals and rocking it:

When did you feel really connected to your goal? What were you doing? What was happening in your life?

When were you feeling really disconnected to your goal? What were you doing? What was happening in your life?

Check in:

Are these still the right goals?

Why? Why not?

What you have learned and how you take that learning forward:

Based on your answers above – what are the things you already know work that you can put in place to support you in your goals?

Identify and manage for obstacles:

What are the potential obstacles or pitfalls that may come up in the future?

How can you manage for these pit falls through systems, process, plan, structure or rituals?

Note on rituals: The ritual of brushing our teeth morning and evening (or after meals) makes tooth hygiene a no-brainer. Do you need a daily green juice ritual or a show love to your spouse daily ritual or a weekly sales blitz ritual?

Note on planning to win: Remember we all like to feel like we are winning and moving forward. Is there a way you can track and celebrate baby steps?  Baby steps are all it takes to get anywhere you want to get and be anything you want to be.

Check your beliefs:

What old beliefs/fears would you like to remove to support future success?

What new belief would best support success?

Use Your Resources:

What (support/accountability/resources) could you ask for/seek out to ensure your success?

Get in action:

What action are you willing to commit to in support of your goals?

Nice Work! Now, using the insights gained through this exercise create your new execution plan, create the rituals, establish the new beliefs and reach out to get the needed support and accountability to have a breakthrough in achieving your goals!
