The Sun and Moon have been refined and no longer appear square.

The Moon now has multiple phases, including crescent moon, half moon, full moon, and new moon.

Today, Mojang – the company responsible for the indie smash-hit Minecraft – is one year old! They have come a long way from humble beginnings; starting with only one man, and rapidly growing into a team of 11, Mojang has worked hard over the last year to raise their fledgling sandbox building game into something much greater – and they aren’t showing any signs of slowing down. Great job guys, and happy birthday!

I’ve spent my time from last December, playing this “kickass” game, Minecraft. And I thought, it would be good if first time in my blog dedicated to this game to review the game itself first.

Minecraft written by Swedish guy named Markus Persson, commonly known as Notch, it emerged to take over the world and sell meeelions of copies. The crazy thing is, the game itself is still curently in beta. At the first time in my life I see not (yet) finished game sold this well. Even Mojang, the current Minecraft development team is made by Notch after this game reached million copies sales.

For the few people who haven’t played it yet, Minecraft is usually described as a Lego video game, or a sandbox game, or “do whatever you want in this game” kind of type. You start out a guy on a deserted island ALONE. You can gather cubes of dirt and wood and stone and use them to build, well, whatever you want. Houses. Castles. Roller coasters. Advanced devices. Traps. In short, anything.

There’s no plot, per se. It’s a creativity tool and an incredibly addictive one. The game system is very simple, allowing for hilarious mishaps, outlandish creations, and manifestations of mental illness. This game allowing you to explore, mine, fighting various monstrous creatures, anything. Did I mention “anything” too much?

The world of cubes maybe looked strange, too boring, ugly game design, etc. But I can prove you’re wrong. In this game, there are various “biome”, from desert to rainforest. From dungeon, to cavern. The original idea of infinite land generation suddenly prevent me doing anyhting except playing this game. Not only that, in survival mode, you must face the zombie, spider, skeleton archer, and the famous one, creeper. And there are some more enemies, animals, and NPCs (as of beta 1.9 pre, there are NPCs).

I remembered playing this game for the first time, freaked out by night without having any tool, I thought, “What the hell. What should I do?”

Well, after googling I found the wiki site, which is helpful. All of recipes, item, block and other informations available there. And I findout there are hundreds of mods(well, it kinda like ~50 mods back then), which not only add items, there are tons of new mobs(monsters)and gameplay changing mod. Allowing you to play the game as you wish. Your creativity is the limit here.

Well, you get the idea now.

And the last word: PLAY IT!!
