Exciting news.....Introducing Themed/Stylized Sessions~St. Louis/St. Charles Family Photographer

I have decided to specialize in just a few categories of photography and not to try and do everything! I love babies but I do not want to be a newborn photographer! But I do love families and children and I especially love weddings. So those are the area's I will be focusing my energy on. But wait...there's more. Not just family sessions but....wait for it...oh I am so excited I've been keeping this secret for the last few months....Stylized or Themed sessions!!! I have several upcoming sessions in the next few months and I can't wait to share!!!

What do I mean by stylized or themed? Tea Parties, Fairies, Camping & Fishing, Outdoor movies complete with popcorn and soda pop, Hansel & Gretal, Apple picking. These are all sessions that have already been booked! WooHoo!!! I can not wait! I really want to do something that gets my creative juices flowing and isn't done so much in the area. Something unique. And this my friends is it. I literally have ideas flowing non stop. You should see my notepad. It is so full of ideas;) So, if you are interested in booking a themed session message me soon because I am almost booked up for the rest of the year!

Golden Hour....My favorite time to take pictures. Dreamy, hazy light. Only thing I would have changed about this session was the humid 100 degree weather. I did this session in 25 minutes. Quickest session I have ever done! I was a bit nervous too because Stephanie is also a photographer. It's always nerve racking to take pictures of other photographers! Stephanie, you and your family are truly troopers for dealing with that heat! Here is Part One of your session! Thanks so much for letting my practice with you! (This was my very first maternity session :)!) Oh and thanks for suggesting this location, loved it! Next post will be all the belly pictures!

Okay, so I am am looking back through my blog and realized there are some sessions from the fall that I didn't blog! All these families deserve to be blogged so I am going to play catch up for the next few weeks! First up is Aimee's session. I loved this session so much!!! Engagements & Weddings oh my! I am swamped with editing! And so very grateful!!! Mandy here is part two of your sneak peek! The Formals! Thank you so much for being patient Mandy! Here is part one of your sneak peek! Tony & Mandy planned a wedding outside at the St. Louis Zoo with wedding formals around Forest Park. We started off the day with an overcast sky threatening to pour at any second but it held out until after the ceremony! What a relief! One thing you will notice about the photos is Mandy's beautiful smile. She smiled and laughed the whole day:)

I was told no fields of flowers, just somewhere with nice architecture so to Lafayette Square we went! I think the location perfectly suited these two! It was a hot one that day but they were real troopers and I love how their pictures turned out! Their October wedding is at Les Bourgeois Vineyard and I couldn't be more excited! Mother's Day I was sick with strep throat & a migraine but my family still made sure I had a great day filled with love. Finally feeling better that evening we went to a local park for some quick pictures. I failed to put on makeup but that's okay. My wonderful husband was able to capture some great images and that is all that matters! Thank you both for making this day so special. I love you two with all my heart!

Oh and check out out my new look! Brand new logo & blog! I was wanting something with a vintage, whimsical & cheerful feel and this is it! I love all the different colors in my logo! Makes it easy to have a lot of fun with my blog backgrounds! Hope everyone likes it!

I am so happy John & Alecia decided to do a first look! It is so intimate and I think it settles the nerves of the bride and groom before the ceremony just a little bit. Not that John & Alecia were nervous. They were so calm and just taking in every moment of the day and savoring it. If they were nervous they did a great job hiding it! Yesterday was a blessed day. We rocked it out in worship at Refuge Church. Then spent the day coloring eggs & hiding them. My husband found a spot so good he had to point it out to me. Love it when it's in plain sight but you still can't see it! I blame it on the egg color...it was camouflaged;) So here is the eggcelent spot, hehe!

Our daughter couldn't find it either so I pointed to it and snapped the photo of her seeing it. Love this so much!!! Totally caught the surprise & excitement in her eyes. This photo is such a treasure to me!

We used 100% food coloring and the color leaked through all the shells! Pics coming later this week on all these beautiful eggs!

Sarah & Tim are so much fun to be around. I had a blast taking their engagement photos at one of my favorite places, Faust Park. They have such a cute engagement story. Tim decided to propose on Halloween so he stayed up the night before and carved pumpkins to say "Will you marry me". How cool is that! The City Museum holds a special place in Mandy & Tony's life as this is where a dear friend worked until she passed. So they decided to integrate this amazing place into their engagement session! I love the city museum! It's such a unique place and my favorite spot is the roof! Unfortunately the roof was closed and they had caution tape in a few of the places I wanted shots but we made it work! It was so crowded that we did a few shots there and then decided to do the rest in the city. I am starting with the city shots. Hope you enjoy. My good friend Jenny Hodges of http://www.moondancephotography.org/ and partner in crime when it comes to photographing weddings and I scouted out locations this week in downtown St. Louis and we decided to turn the camera's on each other. Oh boy. She is an amazing photographer but I've got to say I am not an amazing client. There are no words.....I can only say in my defense that I couldn't stop laughing, my eyes were tearing up, and I like to make weird faces apparently. ;-) It is so weird to be on the other side of the camera. And I will be experiencing it again at the end of the month because my friend Laurie Nowling will be taking my family portraits! I am so excited!!! It's April finally!!! April is National Autism awareness month & also National Donate Life month. Two causes very dear to me. It's also the month I turn 1 year older. :-/ Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful to be alive. I'm just getting way to close to the big 40...Agh, did I just really admit that!!!! But just to be clear, I do have a few more years togo before I hit that 40.

April also kicks off the wedding season for me. 22 weddings. Some I am primary photographer and some I am assisting. Either way it is going to be one busy wedding season for me and I am so excited! Although the month of October is intimidating me...6 and possibly 7 weddings that month! Yikes! The weddings I am photographjy this year are amazing! The brides are AWESOME! The details, locations, & styles are AWESOME! Vintage, Rustic, Urban are a few words that come to mind!

A breezy, warm day. A photo session requested by my daughter. A picnic in the park. Butterfly wings and bubbles. Rainbows, the sun,clouds and an apple tree created with sidewalk chalk. A morning at the zoo. A special treat of Gooey Butter Cake at Gooey Louies. A trip to the dollar theater to watch Tangled for the 3rd time. And last but not least a tea party with all the Tinkerbell fairies and one very special little girl named Hannah while it snows outside. This has been our spring break. Filled with hugs, kisses, & giggles and I am so sad to see it go.

As many of you know last week my daughter was a victim of bullying. Just because my daughter wanted her hair as long as Rapunzel's. This little girl told her "NO, I DON'T WANT YOUR HAIR THAT LONG." Like she had the right to lay her hand on my daughter. She cut 4 inches off of my daughters hair. It took a long time to console my daughter and let her know everything was okay. That her hair would grow back. She's in kindergarten. You have got to be kidding me. Bullying in kindergarten? I know there are many of us going through the same thing. Our kids coming home upset because they were called names, pushed around, or bullied in some other manner. Well, I had a good friend contact me this morning and she had an amazing idea that I have kind of jumped on and added my own idea's as well. We are coming up with something amazing so be on the look out! My sweet girl wanted pictures taken the day after her hair was so rudely cut so I wasn't about to say no! She is so beautiful she takes my breathe away. And after everything she still wants to be friends with the little girl. What a kind heart she has!

The first set of photos were taken at Faust park where apparently she saw a horse, a bear, & some chickens! What an imagination she has! :-) I'm pretty sure I would have remembered seeing those animals...

The second set of pictures were taken on Main Street, St. Charles.
