If you're a fan of Dark Horse comics, at some point you probably saw an ad or read issues of The Mask. Don't get this Mask confused with the 1994 Jim Carrey movie adaption of The Mask, as his look is unique. The comic is what brought this character to life way before the movie, and most would agree was even more entertaining than the movie. Dark Horse comics really liked to give us edgy stuff, and The Mask falls right inline with the other comics they did during their run. Let's take a closer look at Mezco Toyz take on the Dark Horse Comic Mask figure.

Pros

Figure

The Mask figure is glorious, with plenty of articulation all over. The soft goods suit provides plenty of room for movement and posing at all angles. I pushed the posing to the max with no issues of tearing or pulling on the fabric. He comes loaded with some great new accessories along with some reuse from figures passed. I really enjoy all three of the face portraits, but the blurred head really hits the mark for The Mask. He also comes with bombs, tommy gun, revolver, Uber Guns, uzi and firing effects.

Overall

The Mask is a welcome addition to my ever growing collection. The soft goods and face sculpts are the star of this figure, as I can see him being used in all types of displays and toy photography. If you missed him and looking to get him, Mezco still has him on the wait list so it's possible more are made and released.

Mezco Toyz One:12 Collective Exclusive Rumble Society Local 112 Union Gomez Review

So far 2022 has been a little lighter then usual for Mezco Toyz release's but we have still received some nice figures. The latest in the Rumble Society line of original Mezco figures is the 112 Union Gomez. Mezco released Union Gomez without any insight he was coming and there was a lot of opinions on the figure and overall Mezco releases in 2022. Collectors are concerned we are waiting on so many older preorders, while the Rumble Society figures keep coming out. This isn't a issue to me, but can understand if some collectors are frustrated with the delays. Union Gomez is another unique original character that has lots of appeal and accessories but seems slightly bland at the same time. I'm really excited to finally have this figure in hand and give you my opinion on how well Mezco did with this version of Gomez.

Pros

Excellent soft goods outfit from top to bottom
Hard hat and Welders mask
Useable tool belt that holds the metal tools he comes with
Real metal assortment of tools
Welding torch with box and effects
Grub with hard hat and sledge hammer

Cons

Gomez only comes with one head portrait

Figure

The latest Gomez release is unique and different from a lot of the original Mezco figures we have received in the past. The soft goods outfit is excellent quality and there's attention to detail on every piece. The added tool belt he comes with adds to the look and allows him to store his tools right on the belt for easy access.

The tools are all metal and really add to the look and feel they present straight out of the box. There's places on the soft goods and tool belt to store them as you desire. The working gloves are an excellent touch to his look and they are great quality. The hands are soft with great detail and allow him to hold his tools with ease. The welder torch and effects are excellent and one of my favorite parts of this set. The swapping of the hard hat and welders mask is simple and they are both highly detailed.

Overall

The Union Gomez is a welcome addition to the Rumble Society and adds to the story of Mezco's original characters. He fits as a mechanic, or welder, or plumber, whatever needs to be fixed, Union Gomez is up for the job. The soft goods and the tools are the stars of this set, as I can see him being used in all types of displays and toy photography. If you missed him and looking to get him, Mezco still has him on the wait list so it's possible more are made and released.

Mezco Toyz One:12 Collective Exclusive Batman vs Two-Face 2 Pack Review

Mezco Toyz Batman vs Two Face 2 Pack

Mezco does it again with another Batman and Two Face! Over the past few years many Mezco customers feel there's been to much focus on Batman, but I'm not one of those collectors and I really enjoy what this 2-pack comes with and the throwback feel to the figures. If you've followed the Batman comics for a long time then you are going to enjoy this set. The artwork on the boxes is excellent and really matches what Mezco has put together in figure form. Let's take a closer look at this 2-pack and everything it comes with.

Pros

Excellent soft goods on both figures
Brand new outfits
Great articulation
Large assortment of face sculpts
Classic accessories

Cons

Batman's short briefs are a little off
Lack of weapons for Two Face

Batman Figure

I'm a huge Batman fan that goes way back to the classic comics and the original tv show. I've always preferred the light blue and yellow belt look on Batman and this version nails it. The head sculpts are plenty and really offer a comic book look to them over past Mezco releases. I can't decide out of the 5 heads which one is my favorite and remain on my figure. The accessories are well done and I absolutely love the comic book feel to them. He comes on a different style body which I think resembles the Christopher Reeves Superman figure, but it looks great on Batman.

Two Face Figure

The comic version of Two Face really rivals the black and red modern Two Face release last year. I really enjoy both equally for different reasons, but the classic totally nails the comic look. He comes with 3 different heads that are really well done, with great paint applications. The suit is heavy on style and even the shows have an alternate color. My favorite part of the figure is the green scared head sculpts they even look great on the modern Two Face! He also includes a suit case with a molded bomb inside along with knives and coin flipping accessories. The lack of guns is really the only problem with the figure but the DC protest against guns may have impacted why he didn't come with any. Mezco did release the Double Trouble weapons pack on the same day most likely to supplement the lack of weapons he comes with.

Overall

The hype is real and this 2-pack truly met my expectations. I really enjoy both figures equally and hope that Mezco expands on the throw back look for more DC characters. Mezco gives us so many options with their figures it's almost like you need to buy two of each to make use of all of them.

Mix Max 1:12 Stab of the Hades Figure Review

I've anxiously been waiting to get this Stab of the Hades figure in hand to see how it compares to other 1:12 lines and it doesn't disappoint! Out of the box the figure just pops and has that sharp Deathstroke look that we've all grown to love. I've followed Deathstroke through the DC Comics Universe where he's had a few different looks so its really a matter of opinion which you prefer. Since I like almost all of his looks this one doesn't disappoint me at all. Let's take a closer look at this new figure and how it compares to Mezco and other Deathstroke releases.

Pros

3 Head portraits
Half skull head portrait is amazing
Highly detailed armor and paint apps
Loaded with iconic Deathstroke weapons
Nice mix of soft goods and armor

Cons

No ab crunch
Hands are a little soft so takes some work to get him to hold the weapons just right
Slightly taller compared to Mezco scaled figures
Unmasked head portrait has a really bad seam ear to ear

Figure

Out of the box, he looks like a work of art! Every aspect of the figure looks sharp and detailed and loaded with weapons. I love that he comes with 3 head sculpts but the half skull is by far the gem of the entire figure to me! Even though he is a tad taller than Mezco scale, he's still an excellent figure on his own. He's loaded with all of his unique weapons and I love them all! Nothing on him is fragile, but his hands are a little rubbery and takes a little time to figure them out with the weapons.

I was a little disappointed he doesn't come with an ab crunch, and the unmasked head portrait has a really bad seam line across the head from ear to ear that really looks bad. He poses well but you won't get a lot of really dynamic poses due to his armor and and no ab crunch. The figure is extremely photogenic and I had a lot of fun taking pictures of him in my city diorama.

Overall

I was pleasantly surprised from the time I opened it, to the point where I wrapped taking pictures and wrote this review. I really like this figure as he stands out from a lot of figures I already own and hope other companies up their game to compete with this awesome finished look. He does come with some flaws, but they are small compared to the overall figure. If you are looking to get him, you will most likely have to order from eBay and have it shipped from overseas. There are a few websites from the US that do offer him for preorder but you will mostly likely wait longer. If you do he's 100% worth the wait, and will be an excellent addition to your collection!

Mezco Toyz One:12 Collective Exclusive Rumble Society Captain Nemo Review

Mezco continues to produce its own unique characters and Captain Nemo is the next in line. I wasn't sure about Nemo when I first saw the announcement, but I quickly came around when I saw how loaded he was with accessories. In hand, I really like the head portraits and the immense amount of detail that went into the character and his weapons. You get the impression Nemo is the King of the seas and he's taken on so many crazy tasks and continues to come out on top! Now let's take a closer look at the King of the Rumble Society seas and see how well Mezco did!

Cons

The stitching on the pleather is very tight out of the box which leads me to believe dynamic posing will cause issues down the road with his soft goods.

Figure

I really wasn't sure what to expect when I finally received Captain Nemo in hand, but overall I was pretty happy. The soft goods are detailed but also showed some concerns out of the box that I listed above. The paint applications to the head portraits and accessories are absolutely top notch. I always tend to look at the head portraits first as I believe that sets the bar for the rest of the figure. After looking over the head portraits I examined all the paint apps from the boots up and its just flat out impressive. The weapons and accessories pop with excellent colors and are also something new and unique we haven't received with previous Mezco releases.

The Rumble Society has taken some flak from fans, as it seems Mezco has been pushing back core DC and Marvel characters where their original figures seem to always be readily available. I'm a patient man, and actually like the fact that we are getting a mix of classic characters as well as Mezco's own line of unique characters. Nemo may be the best Rumble Society figure they have released to date, just due to the sheer beauty, time and effort that went into creating this figure.

In the near future we will also be getting an add on package as well as Nemo's crew set that looks equally as nice. I've preordered both and hope we get them sooner rather then later. Once they hit be on the lookout here as I hope I will get a chance to review them.

Overall

Nemo is a unique character and as a bonus Mezco is producing a crew that you were able to recently preorder that ties in really well with him. I'm a little disappointed in the seams but also understand that soft goods sometimes can be a little finicky and we just have to understand it's not a $20 plastic figure. I think he' will look great with Baron Bends and Aquaman, and a welcome addition to anyone's Mezco collection. Well, this has been my first toy review in quite a while. It's been a busy season in life, but I am making a decision to be disciplined about making time for toys and reviews. We started doing these as a way to blow of steam and have fun so it's good to get back to that.

It is ironic to me that I am reviewing Diamond Select Toys. This is the company that sparked us to start TURDSDAY after all. We went hard in the paint with DST. While neither collect a lot made by them I do have a decent sized Marvel Select collection. I keep them out in my toy room so that my son can play with them when he is in there with me.

I am very glad that DST came out with this version of the Hulk. I have three other versions and not only do they not look appealing they are very light and cheap feeling. They weren't sturdy like Juggernaut or Abomination. This figure is thick and definitely chunky. I like it a lot. It looks like classic Incredible Hulk to me and probably is my favorite Hulk figure I own.

Pros:

Great sculpt

Cons:

Some might say the articulation, but this figure surprised me in that it moves a lot better than I thought a figure of this size would be able to. This figure is an example of DST at their finest.

Figure

This is an incredible iteration of the Hulk. He comes with 2 different heads, a pair of fists, and a pair of open hands. He is thick and beefy and will instantly be a noticeable favorite on your shelf. Both head sculpts are very well done, but the classic head is my favorite. This figure definitely is just as hefty as Juggernaut and Abomination. The bigger, thicker Selects by DST tend to be some of my favorite figures by them. This figure more than makes up for the other Hulks I have that left me feeling underwhelmed.

Overall

Many of my fellow toy collectors say this is the best Hulk figure ever. I don't own enough to know if that is true, but I can safely say this is an excellent version of him and he is the best version of Hulk that I own. Hulk is a classic Marvel hero that everyone should have in their collection. It might as well be this one because it is one awesome figure.

This was a fun figure to dive back into reviews with. My son helped me set up and had a lot of fun doing it. He was very into posing. I simply got enjoyment out of his enjoyment, and I am sure he will be joining me for future reviews.

HIYA Toys Exquisite Mini's AVP Predators Youngblood, Temple Guard, Warrior Review

HIYA Toys Exquisite AVP Predators Review

Predator is the best franchise out there, am I correct? Ok, I know a lot of the latest movies and designs haven't been the best, but the designs from AVP have really translated well into action figures. This review covers the second tier Predators Youngblood, Temple Guard, Warrior and the Unmasked Scar all from Aliens vs Predator. Now that they are finally in my hands, let's take a closer look at just how good Hiya did with this wave!

Pros

Excellent Joints
Good Articulation
Great paint applications
Excellent detail for such small figures
Nice assortment of movie accurate weapons

Cons

Small figures usually have fragile parts. I've had no issues with mine but its something to keep in mind when opening and displaying your figures
Unmasked Scar Predator's mouth didn't have a wash over the mouth and is all pink, I did apply a little black was paint to mine and it looks great.

Figures

Overall I really like this wave of AVP Predators! There's improvement with the joints, body articulation and the plasma casters. The figures don't have a lot of ab crunch which can make it a little difficult to pose them, but after playing with them I really wasn't have much of an issue. I've reviewed previous Predator figures from Hiya and I was always concerned I could break them at any moment. Hiya has made sure this wave that isn't the case and the plastic has more of a bendy feel compared to previous waves of Hiya products. They're all highly detailed sculpts, with great paint applications all over the figure and weapons. It's hard to say out of the group which one is my favorite of the 4 but I really enjoy the Young Blood Predator. They each come with a grid floor stand and I have acquired quite a few of these which has turned into a great piece for display and for pictures. Now that I have the primary AVP Predators along with the secondary ones from the movie, I'm trying to find a good place to show them off.

Overall

I've quickly grown to know what to expect from Hiya toys products and they are doing great things at this price point. I expect Hiya to continue to expand on Predator and Aliens and more Sci-Fi lines in the future. It's all about scale, and if you like a smaller scale figure with great details Hiya is going to hit that goal for you. I like that they come with interlocking stands so you are able to display them with detailed bases.

HIYA Toys Exquisite Queen Alien and Eggs Review

The Alien Queen is the best of the best of the xenomorphs and is not something you want to run into. It started with the Aliens movie in 1985 and expanded in the Dark Horse comics universe and other movies that would later follow. One thing always was consistent, she was menacing and a force to be reckoned with! Ripley faced one and in my opinion she only won out of pure luck, others faced them and generally a nuke was needed to finish off the job. In Aliens vs Predator it took a human/predator team up to barely win the battle only later to find out the damage was already done. Scar was soon to give birth to a Predalien in the Predator mother ship. Hiya toys is expanding and growing and their figures just get better and better. Let's take a closer look at this beautiful figure and her eggs hoping we don't lose our lunch.

The Alien Queen and her eggs go hand in hand. Everything about them is well done from the details on the Queen, Eggs, and Facehuggers to the excellent paint applications. The Queen is loaded with articulation and even stands on her own as the tail is sturdy and wired and helps support the body. The body and joints aren't fragile at all, I own the NECA Queen and she was the exact opposite with tons of fragile parts that snapped and didn't hold up. Now Hiya developed their Queen after Neca had already done it, but the Hiya toys version is just better quality. The eggs and facehuggers were also done by Neca, and I think the quality of Hiya's versions is just flat out better. Better paint applications and details along with sturdy parts not brittle plastic.

Alien Eggs

I really like that the Queen comes with 4 stands as it allows you to really build out a diorama that looks great with the Queen, Eggs, and Xenomorphs. Hiya is doing a great job building up the line and pumping out the figures. The Alien and Aliens eggs have some variation to them, as the Alien eggs have a more classic look from the first movie, where the Aliens eggs have a different color but with the same great looking details. Whether you buy the Alien or Aliens egg set both are awesome and worth picking up both. The facehuggers are essentially the same from Alien and Aliens which I like and allows me to mix and match in my display.

My name is Steve and I've been collecting for most of my life. I was born in 1981 and totally thrived in the 80's and everything it had to offer to us kids. I grew up in New Jersey and have an older brother (7 years older) who was into Joes for a couple of years before moving on to trading cards and girls. My collection started with hand me downs from my brother like a beat up Skystriker, Hiss Tank and Dragonfly were my vehicles and a nice pee yellow Storm Shadow. It's shocking that even in 1985 the Storm Shadows had already started to turn yellow and I have no idea why my brothers did. I quickly started my own collection in Kindergarten at 5 years old, usually visiting a local store to pick out a figure on a Friday night out with the family. It was torture knowing I had to shop the entire store and wait until the very end to get a chance to look at the toys and GI Joes. In the end, my collection eventually consisted of about 150 figures and 60 vehicles by the time it was all boxed up and put in the attic.

During my playing days, I stored my figures and parts in two fishing tackle boxes and kept my vehicles on shelves my parents built for me in my room. I would build bases out of Construx, or Legos, or even some leftover wood from projects my parents did around the house. I would even go as far as asking the stock guy at Acme, the local grocery store, if I could have the empty boxes he had just put to the side to build bases. Most of my greatest battles were outside where I dug up the yard for booby traps and natural environment bases, which usually led to losing parts and breaking my figures. Reflecting back on that time, I'm amazed that I would destroy the toys I treasured so much to play out my imaginary battles. I do recall regretting the destruction at the end of some battles. As I started to mature, my focus eventually went to sports and girls, but I made sure my toys were put away nicely before they eventually went into the attic.

Fast forward to 2004. I went to a local flea market and saw a box of Coleco Rambo figures and all kinds of accessories and ask the person how much for all of it. Ten dollars later I was smiling and soon to be digging through my parent's attic to get my old toys out and dust them off. When I took inventory of my GI Joes, the majority were beat up, discolored and flat out broken, which of course bothered me, but I knew I could replace them. I ended up selling all my GI Joes and vehicles to start funding a new collection of GI Joe, which I now regret and wish I still had just the original box of figures and accessories I had as a kid. Now it's 2022 and I've been hardcore collecting almost every toy line from the 80's and even newer release toy lines that I enjoy photographing and customizing in my free time.

The majority of my current GI Joe collection comes from flea markets, eBay, and occasional yard sales. I used to really enjoy hunting the flea markets and yard sales, but I quickly realized they didn't bare much fruit so I turned to eBay to focus on completing my collection. When I first started, the price of a figure like a BAT was about $15-20 complete and even at that time, it was a lot of money to me. My focus was to complete an 82-92 GI Joe collection of figures and vehicles all while army building my favorite Cobra troops. Like a lot of toy collectors, my approach was to buy large lots on eBay and break them down to sell the extras to continue to fund my collection. This approach worked well for a short period of time before every collector was doing the same thing on eBay, which led to me having to be more creative in my approach. I stopped buying vintage figures around 2019 since what I consider knock off figures and accessories were being introduced with the classic 80's line. I knew once I had things in hand I could tell if it was original or some cheap knock off, but by then it would usually be too late to do anything about it. Since by then my 1982-1991 collection was approximately 98% complete, I was ok with no longer buying vintage GI Joes.

I also collect Transformers, TMNT, Coleco Rambo, Micro Machines, Super Powers, Battle Beasts, GI Joe Classified, GI Joe 25th Anniversary, He-Man, Tyco Crash Dummies, Stompers, Mezco Toyz, Sideshow, Hot Toys, Storm Collectibles, Hiya Toys, Super 7 and a tiny bit of NECA toys. All these companies consist of some GI Joe products but also a wide variety of newer versions of the classics.

I really enjoy building dioramas, creating and painting custom items, and all kinds of crazy photography to get the most out of my collection. Since I have two little kids my availability for hobby time has dropped a lot, but I don't mind as my family is truly more important than my hobby.

I will admit it can be tough to become friends with me at first because I'm not fond of a lot of personalities and toy collectors in this current world we live in. I absolutely hate to trade and always prefer to just spend my cash to add to my collection. Usually, once people get to know, me they realize I have a lot of knowledge to share and can be a really good friend, but even now with my family it’s a little tough dedicate the time to invest in friendships. In the end, I love collecting and everything that comes with it, but I realize now more than ever my family is what is truly important to me. My son is my best friend and he loves to go into my toy room and grab things and play with my dioramas when I get a chance to do some work in there. I hope to one day leave my children all of my treasures and think that they would at least keep some of it before selling the majority.

HIYA Toys Exquisite Mini Robocop Damaged ED-209 Review

I love me some ED-209, and really love the Robocop movies I mean who doesn't?!? The HIYA toys ED-209 is slick and clean with the classic battle damage and sounds. I've been quite excited to get him in hand, and compare him to my Neca and Hot Toys versions. One thing I really love about HIYA is the ability to capture so much detail in a small unique piece. Let's see how well HIYA did with their first version of ED-209!

Pros

Cons

The HIYA Ed-209 is truly a great toy, with no cons that I can see.

Size Comparison with the unmasked Scar Predator

Figure

When you first see the box and art and take him out it automatically makes you think of the movie. Even at this scale Ed is intimidating and looks like he's ready to wreck shop! The arms, legs and feet have articulation and very nice movement. The body has the ability to move up and down on his leg rails, with no issues of looseness or breakage. There's a ton of great paint apps all over the figure and they didn't miss a part. The sound effects and quotes are truly the cherry on top!

I took a close look at the Hot Toys version as well as the NECA toys version and I don't really see much variance in color or detail. The only thing I noticed was the color choice for the shell of Hiyas Ed-209 but it looks great. I would suggest picking Ed-209 up, its perfect sitting at your work desk. Since I've opened him, I can't put him down and even my kids think he is cool and like to play with him!

Overall

I've quickly grown to know what to expect from Hiya toys products and they are doing great things at this price point. I expect Hiya to continue to expand on Robocop, Predator, Aliens and more Sci-Fi lines in the future. It's all about scale, and if you like a smaller scale figure with great details Hiya is going to hit that goal for you. I can't wait to get the clean version of Ed-209 in my hands next!

I've finally got the new Hiya Toys AVP Predators and Aliens in hand and they are awesome! I'm not a over the top fan of the AVP movie, but I really like the designs of the characters. When you watch the movie there is something off with the Predators and their suits, but the figures look great and better then what we see on screen. I thought the Alien design was very sleek and good looking in the movie so the figures naturally look great and are accurate. Now that they are finally in my hands, let's take a closer look at just how good Hiya did with this wave!

Figures

The latest series of releases from HIYA are all really well done. The Aliens and the Predators have about the same articulation but good joints and they are able to hold poses without the stands. I didn't experience any frozen or broken joints the entire time I played with them. The AVP line is very sharp, the Predators look spot on to the look of the movie and I can't put them down. The movie was OK, but I really grew to like the designs from the movie and Hiya has captured it beautifully. They come with a nice assortment of screen accurate accessories and I didn't have many issues while posing them. The Aliens are also very nice looking with great articulation, the inside of the mouths are a little loose but still hold well.

Mezco has done well with creating their own unique characters and Vapor is no exception to the line. Mezco has been in the game for awhile, and they are starting to bring back some of their early classic looks. Vapor has a ton of personality and appeal with his bright colors and amazing expressions! I wasn't sure if this was a figure I would get into, but after having him in hand he's a great change of pace from Mezco's usual releases.

Figure

Vapor is a highly articulated figure with lots of swaps to make him look unique. The new ability to swap shoes is one of the coolest things about him. He's bright and vibrant and comes with a lot of new things to play with. The flocked hair is a new thing for Mezco, and overall I like the look and feel of it. A couple of my heads came with indentations in the hair so that was a bummer but its not hideous. Vapor is also made to swap clothes and different parts, which is something new for Mezco. In the past all of their figures generally have clothes that need a work around to remove them and make customizing a tougher process. Vapor breaks that barrier with swapped parts all over along with the soft goods being easily removable.

Overall

Vapor is a unique character that I expect Mezco to expand on his universe/other characters. I like the change of pace from Mezco as we were getting a lot of Gomez figures along with some lackluster releases. All in all Vapor breaks through into a new aspect for the One:12 line and what Mezco can provide to us in the future. If you have a chance to pick him up, and like the artsy feel he brings I would suggest buying him ASAP. I think this will be a Mezco that increases in value over time and will be harder to get.

Mezco Toyz Superman- 1978 Edition

A classic that almost needs zero introduction, the original Superman (1978) Christopher Reeves finally gets a release from Mezco and its really well done. I'm and 80's kid and can fondly remember watching the movie many times on the weekends. There was just something about Reeve's and the persona he carried as Superman, it just felt like it was a perfect fit. I would read the comics, and still have my 1980's Superman and Clark Kent Super Powers figures they were the first line of toys I collected. I was extremely happy to see Mezco would be releasing their version but was worried what the final product would look like. He finally came and I ripped open my tin to find an excellent figure with lots of details and accessories.

Pros

Cape wire is glued into the fabric and is a little flimsy
Boot color is a darker red compared to the rest of the red used on Superman

Figure

The initial thoughts and pictures released of Superman were not received to well, but once people started getting him in hand that all changed. Collectors were worried about the head sculpts from the start, but Mezco came through and included a nice third head sculpt which was an excellent surprise! The Superman suit fits snug, but not so snug that it takes away some articulation and cloth bunching. The suit itself really looks great all together but I did see some minor flaws with the overall figure. The cape is nice but doesn't lay perfectly and the wire in the cape is held together with fabric glue. I also noticed like many others the boots were a darker red and didn't really match the rest of the red used for the figure. Once you get past these minor things and play with him, you really see the greatness and the memories you had as a kid coming back.

The new body used for Superman is 28 points of articulation, but its still an excellent body and a improvement from previous releases. As collectors, we are always worried our favorite characters will get single joint elbows, and with Superman this wasn't the case. I always take my figures out of the box and bend them into a pretzel to really see what is capabilities are with posing. A few minor flaws doesn't impact the happiness I have with this Superman.

Overall

Superman exceeded my expectations and many other collectors to the point everyone is now looking to buy the figure. He's truly a classic with very little flaws and over the top excellent accessories that really tie the package together. Finally we are getting some of the DC villain characters after all of the Batman releases from Mezco. Listen, I love Batman and I have almost every version Mezco has put out, but I've been anxiously waiting for some villains. I've been excited to get KGBeast from the day Mezco made their announcement he was apart of their lineup. Once I had him in hand I was overly impressed with the amount of detail and quality that was put into the figure. I honestly don't think there's much more that could of been added to the figure. Now let's take a closer look at KGBeast and see what makes this a great release from Mezco.

Pros

3 highly detailed head sculpts
Spot on costume to the comic lure
Excellent soft goods
Loaded with accessories and places KGBeast can carry them
Excellent base for custom figures (If that's your thing)
The elbows were improved and allow for more articulation from previous figure releases.

Cons

Could of possibly been built on a bigger body

Figure

KGBeast was trained by the KGB in a secret program called "The Hammer" and is an expert in all weapon types and martial arts. The figure is almost complete perfection from head to toe. Mezco took some tiny liberties with his overall look and armor but he still nails the look we see in the DC comics. He comes with three head sculpts, one is unmasked while the other 2 have the mask with eyes or all white eye cover. He also comes with his eye cover for his mask that's dead on. He also comes with an excellent weapon assortment and provide a normal hand for his severed arm weapon system.

The body has very good articulation along with excellent soft goods that fit well and allow for great posing. The web gear/armor he wears is bold and looks menacing, heightening the look and fear KGBeast brings to the table. Going through my review process, I put him through the ringer bending and posing him every way possible to see if he had any limitations. He has new designed elbows that are not fully double joints still allow for excellent posing and gun handling. I'm so impressed with the figure I decided to buy four so far hoping to do some customs with his excellent base.

Overall

KGBeast is a must buy! I'm incredibly impressed with this release and how well they covered all the details for the character. Mezco has released a lot of figures for 2020 but I think this is my favorite of the year. I have nothing negative to say about the figure other than he could have been on a larger body to show off how big and menacing he is. KGBeast sold out fast and will be very hard to get on the secondary market as his price has already doubled. I think the fact he's an excellent character, well executed and a DC villain has really drove up the need to collect this figure from Mezco. Mezco Toyz One:12 Collective Hellboy Review

There's been a few iterations of Hellboy with lots of debate over what's a good movie/bad movie and poor take on the character. Lionsgate not long ago released their version of Hellboy and it didn't receive a lot of great reviews which was a let down. Mezco bought in to the new film and created the iconic Hellboy from this film, and even if you don't like the movie you have to say this is a great figure. A few companies have recently released a version of the character, but Mezco's take on the character from the movie really looks and feels good in your hands. Let's take a closer look at Mezco's version of Hellboy and why he's worth adding to your collection.

Figure

OK, so I will say it off the bat Hellboy is a cool character but not exactly that high on my list. I'm always amazed when I get figures in hand of characters that aren't my top of all time and how well they are done. Mezco really took it's time with this figure with a new body sculpt, detachable right hand of doom, and excellent soft goods that fit really well. I really like how the tail sticks out of his pants but is sewn so good that you can't see much of a gap in the pants. His head doesn't come with the horns, but the pieces can still pop in and out of his head. The guns are unique and screen accurate with a lot of detail and great paint applications.

Now that I've stated I'm not a huge fan of the character, I am a fan of this figure Mezco has perfected. Hellboy just feels good in your hands, he photographs really well and can stand in as any Hellboy not just the one from the recent Lionsgate movie. The arm articulation on the hand of doom side is a little limited but doesn't hinder his overall look and feel. I really enjoyed posing this figure and taking pictures, I don't always feel this way with a new figure.

Overall

Hellboy is a icon that's been around for awhile starting with the graphic novels which lead to a few different movies about him. I'm more of a Ron Pearlman fan of the character, but that doesn't mean I don't like this figure. The version Mezco has released give me more of an overall Hellboy feel with a little bit of everything to get that iconic look of the character. The guns are second to none, and the gun case is such a cool and unique accessory, it's probably my favorite thing out of the box. I have a feeling this figure will be hard to get as time goes on, its a great take on Hellboy and anyone who is passing on him will regret it.

Mezco Toyz Black Bolt and Lockjaw Review

I have to admit, I'm not a huge Inhumans fan with the story line and characters but I wasn't going to miss out on getting Lockjaw! Black Bolt is the King of the Inhumans with many assorted powers mostly based off of his insanely loud voice. The King can do damage to anything even with a few soft spoken words, this is power that we can only dream of. Lockjaw is the protector of the Inhumans family, and has the ability to teleport across time and space and is a key part of the Inhumans. This set took a little longer than I expected to released, but once in hand it's awesome and Lockjaw is the crown jewel in this set. Mezco keeps hitting us with great release after great release, its hard for all of us to keep up!

Pros

If you are a fan of Inhumans you need to pick up this set! Out of the box this set is clean, sleek, and really well done. Blackbolt's costume is spot on, with no articulation issues and his head sculpts are equally awesome. When working with him he was easy to pose and the suit held up well in many poses. There is a lack of accessories in this set, but I believe this is just the characters we are dealing with. One is the silent protector and the other is the King with a voice to die for. I really like the light up effects on Lockjaw, as this is usually something I can do with out when I buy figures. The eyes look great, he's imposing with his size and the paint detail is practically perfect on him. I love the weight of him, and he does have articulation in the legs that does allow for some different posing positions.

Overall

As I stated above I'm not a huge Inhumans fan but I've always loved Lockjaw and he's the reason I bought the set. Blackbolt was a pleasant surprise with an excellent suit and articulation and two incredible face sculpts I really like. When you look at the cost of the set and what comes with it, it's a great set at a great price that shouldn't be passed on. Mezco still has some in stock to pre-order if you're looking to pick this set up.

The Popeye story is a character that goes way back, so far back your parents know who the characters are. He's a sailor who loves spinach always battling against Bluto is his arch-rival. Mezco has released two previous versions of Popeye about a year ago, but many were hoping we would eventually get a Bluto to go with him and Mezco hooked it up! The box set is pretty much an ultimate set for both characters, coming with lots of iconic accessories and the unique look all Popeye fans love and adore. I was excited when I first saw the announcement of the set, and it's even better in hand. Mezco always brings the heat and this deluxe set nails these two characters perfectly.

Pros

Popeye comes with 3 head sculpts that look excellent
Bluto comes with 2 head portraits that are well done
Soft goods on both figures are well done and fit well
Popeye is loaded with tons of accessories including some new items like his rain gear
Bluto's accessories are excellent sculpts, metal and fit his character perfectly

Cons

Bluto's body has some limited articulation in the arms and legs
Popeye's raincoat hat is pretty flimsy

Figures

It's amazing that we now not only have another Popeye figure, but also an excellent rendition of Bluto. The figures outfits match perfectly to the materials we all know and love from the Popeye lore. Popeye doesn't have much variance from previous versions, hes more of a mixture of the first two figures with some cool added accessories. Bluto being a brand new character comes in a new outfit from top to bottom, and I believe the body may either be new, or resembles the Hulk body Mezco has used in the past. Bluto's accessories are a shiny piece of this set, the heavy metal wrench, kettlebell, and the awesome gaff hook. When working with the figures Popeye had no issues and was able to stand in a lot of unique poses. I'm glad they added some more pieces to him and its not a simple reissue of previous Popeye's which was a concern of mine. Bluto with the larger body has a harder time keeping unique poses and also is pretty heavy overall. The legs and elbows are average and do allow for some cool poses, I just wish he had some more dynamic range for pose ability.

So you're probably reading all this thinking I already have the first two Popeye's Mezco has released do I really need this set? The answer is yes, its an excellent set and by far the best Popeye set offered to date by any company.

Overall

The Popeye in the set is very close to previous releases, but is worth getting in this set due to the extras he comes with. Bluto is the real gem of the set with it being the first time he was released, and has excellent soft goods from head to toe. I really appreciate that his weapons are metal to add to the girth and of Bluto when you are holding him in your hand. If you are a Popeye fan and didn't get a chance to grab the first two releases, this deluxe box set is the one to get. It's sold out but can still be found on the secondary market at a reasonable price.

Mezco has always crushed it when it comes to Batman, simply put the owner of Mezco Toyz is a die hard Batman fan so of course he gets the most attention. Mezco has been closing out the trilogy with the Supreme Knight figures, and the MDX may have saved the best Batman release for last! There are so many amazing things that come with this version, which I essentially consider an 'Ultimate" Mezco Batman. I was excited to take him out of the box and look at all of the wonderful things he comes with. Let's take a closer look at this jam packed Batman and see if he lives up to the hype!

Pros

Huge assortment of accessories

Maybe the best Batman Mezco has ever made

Figure

Batman is a really hard figure/character to mess up his look. Mezco has executed so many different Batman's suits and they all look fantastic. I really like the all black suits Batman usually wears and this suit is just the icing on the cake. The idea of having multiple emblems that can be swapped is the best thing they have done with Batman to date. The suit is the normal pleather type material but it does have some indents where you can swap the emblems. I assume this happens from the magnet and the outlines of the different symbols. I wasn't happy about this but the good thing is the symbols usually cover up the indents in the suit. He comes on a huge body and fits the Supreme Knight look so well, and the armor is executed with tons of great details. He comes with four different head sculpts including a old Bruce Wayne sculpt that I really love. The ability to swap capes is something all Batman's should of come with, but I am glad Mezco eventually got around to doing this. There's now a magnet in his neck and in the head to keep it attached and swap the capes.

Overall

This is the best Batman Mezco has done to date. All of the head sculpts, ability to swap parts, tons of accessories and you just can't go wrong. The all black suit looks so sharp and clean I think he is my definitive Batman that I now own. He was a Mezco Dircet exclusive and did sell out quick on their site. You can still get him at a decent price on the secondary market and I would suggest to do so before the price skyrockets on him.

Hiya toys started me off with their DC Injustice 2 figures about a year ago when I did my first review on them. My initial take was they are great figures for their scale and pretty well made. There were some slight paint issues with the figures but overall I gave them a good rating. Fast forward to the next set of Injustice 2 figures Hiya just released and they really upped the ante. The second series comes with Darkseid, Aquaman, Bane and Reverse Flash, which ends up being a very nice release. Reviewing their first wave of figures was a lot of fun, but I couldn't wait to see what the larger figures looked like out of the box. Hiya is quickly becoming a hot company, let's see if they maintained that hot streak with this new wave release.

Pros

Excellent mix of characters with this wave (Bane, Darkseid, Reverse Flash, and Aquaman)
Darkseid and Bane are a nice build and look good next to the other figures
Great details on such small scale figures
Double jointed knees

Cons

Shoulder joints are stiff with not much articulation
Darkseid right elbow snapped (My fault pushed to hard on the arm and was able to fix)

Figures

I dove right in and opened all four figures at the same time. I like to do this with a larger review as it gives me a great perspective on what may be new or different with the line. The first thing I noticed was the size of Darkseid and Bane, the bigger bodies are very detailed. They share similar qualities as the shoulder joints don't allow the arms to come all the way down to the side. This was an observation I saw right away with all four of the figures when I opened them up. Darkseid comes with 2 different heads and both look equally detailed. Bane comes with one head but he is loaded with details all over his body. Next I moved on to Aquaman and Reverse Flash and Flash was a huge surprise to me! He comes with awesome accessories and has great articulation. At first I thought his body was to thin and frail and didn't look great until I started to pose him. The slimmer body really is perfect for Reverse Flash and I think he may be my favorite from this wave! Aquaman has the same issue with shoulders that don't bend enough to touch the side of his body. This is really my only complaint from the four figures when I was inspecting and posing them.

The accessories make sense for each figure with Aquaman having his staff and armor and Reverse Flash with his lightning effects. The larger figures Bane and Darkseid balance not having accessories with great body detail or an extra head. Each figure comes with an extra set of hands that are easily swapped on and off. The stands they come with are great and connect together, it's one of my favorite things about their stands. The paint applications on all four figures look clean and well done which is excellent news! I continue to be impressed with the scale of the Hiya figures line, and the details they are able to capture with such small figures. Hiya continues to make improvements in all areas and its impressive.

Overall

Hiya has quickly and quietly become a very popular line for collectors. They are a great scale when you don't have a lot of space to display figures, all while not losing the details and look of the on screen versions. My favorite of this wave is definitely Reverse Flash which was again a huge surprise to me but he's a well executed figure. If you are into the Injustice games or Hiya Toys figures lines I would highly recommend checking these out and picking them up. This wave from Hiya toys is the best wave for Injustice 2 yet!

HIYA Toys Exquisite Mini's Robocop 2 Figures review

Robocop 2 is set in Detroit in a not so distant future, and OCP is a evil corporation that is trying to make another version of the infamous Robocop. This time hes battling a drug gang and the evil leader Kane who's a complete psycho. I enjoyed the first and the second movie pretty equally with my favorite character ED-209 getting chances to steal the show. Hiya has taken the Robocop 2 character and shrunk him down into a 4" highly detailed figure. If you have watched the movie you realize that Robocop takes a beating and Hiya also offered us a battle damaged version that is pretty spot on. Let's jump into my review and see how the exquisite minis stand up to the look and feel of Robocop 2.

Battle damaged version came with two of the same right hands and no left hand

Figure

I cracked open both versions at the same time so I could compare them together. I really wanted to compare the differences in quality and paint applications between the two versions. The packaging for the figures is excellent, and may be my favorite that Hiya has produced to date. Looking over both versions they are similar with the battle damage version having body variations on the chest and head. I worked the joints pretty well and the elbows and knees are single jointed. The clean version of Robocop has a loose left knee but it really doesn't hinder the figure. The figures are highly detailed including his Beretta 93R and the Kane skull accessory.

I had no issues posing him, or swapping out hands and accessories as they're all made well. I have other versions in different scales and Hiya does a good job of staying true to the movie look. He doesn't have the gun holster in his leg, but at this scale I think it makes sense to not have it. He does have some limited articulation but I was still able to get him in some good poses for the scale size.

Overall

I really like Robocop, and still watch the movies any time they come on TV. I enjoyed playing and posing both versions trying to stretch them to the limit. I can say for the scale its pretty well executed by Hiya but I could see some slight improvements being made in the articulation. I do wish he came with another set of hands, as only one left handed hand feels like something is missing. The street diorama type stands work perfectly and connect to other Hiya figure line stands flawlessly. If you're a Robocop fan and collect this scale of figures I would recommend picking him up. I remember the first time I saw the trailer for "Predators" and it had me split. I really liked the plot of the movie and the idea of the Predators taking unique humans and hunting them on their own planet. Upon watching the movie it was a little deflating with the choice of actors, and some of the human vs Predator battles, but it did give us fresh new designs of "Super" Predators. So the movie wasn't the best but in the end the new designs caught people's attention and over the years a love has grown for the designs in the movie. I was very pleased to see HIYA was going to take on the challenge of this group and they did a great job executing.

Pros

Not as many accessories as previous Predator figure releases

Figures

The Super Predators look much different from a lot of the previous Predator designs we have seen. I generally prefer the classic look of the Jungle Hunter or City Hunter, but also appreciate the expansion of the universe and the idea of so many Predator Clans. The opening of the movie is excellent and has this disturbing feeling of being taken and dropped into an alien world you know nothing about is pretty awesome! The movie tends to have its ups and downs throughout but there are some really unique and different things called out throughout. The references to so many other aliens species, and the Jungle Hunter tied up as a prisoner to the Super Predators blew my mind. In the end it was a good not great movie but we got the Super Predator designs out of it.

The three Super Predators Berzerker, Falconer, and Tracker all have distinct masks and upgraded looks. Hiya has done an excellent job of transferring that from the big screen into the exquisite figure size. Each figure has sturdy joints with no issues of break, no having to heat up any parts of the figures to loosen them up either. All three come with a skull accessory, Berzerker with a bloody skull and spine, Falconer and Tracker come with bone skulls of the original Predator, one with a closed mouth and the other with a open mouth. The figures also come with 2 extra hands and a stand that looks great with the figures. All three have a wrist blade that were a little bent out of the box, but they quickly regained normal shape once I opened them.

Overall

There are a lot of companies making lots of different figures in different scales, and it can be hard for collectors to choose what they want to collect. I personally used to collect the NECA Predators, but sold them all due to poor QC and articulation and they also took up a lot of space. The nice thing about the HIYA versions is they are a smaller scale with the same detail and articulation. They are also around $10 cheaper then what NECA produces. I'm able to display the HIYA figures in a smaller area and they look great and already come with a nice stand base. The best part about the figures is the improvements HIYA has made since they started this mini line across multiple lines of characters. The joints, hands, attachments are all a better quality from previous figure releases. If you are a Predator fan, I would suggest to look closely at what HIYA is doing, with lots of great new things also coming in the future. Mezco Toyz Harley Quinn Review

It's Harley Quinn, this sweet little girl that likes long walks and lolly pops. If that were Harley I think she would be a much different character, maybe even a woman who pursues Bruce Wayne. Harley is a bad, bad girl with lots of crazy thoughts going through her head and shes's in love with everyone's favorite whack job the Joker. The first Harley I owned was the Mezco movie version and I thought she was a very cool figure with great head sculpts. This Harley, is the one that we saw in the comics or even some animated series where she just likes to be a wild girl. I was excited to get her in hand and when I opened her up, she really met my expectations. Let's take a closer look at this very kind and lovely woman we call Harley Quinn.

Pros

Excellent costume design
New unique accessories made just for her
Some of the best face sculpts Mezco has ever done
Rocket launcher with missile effect

Cons

The suit bunches up around the top of her legs
Still on the terrible Mezco female body
Limited articulation in her arms and legs
Stitching under her arm pits is an eyesore
QC issues with wrist pegs breaking

Figure
Out of the box she looks excellent and has all the details of a great Harley Quinn. Yes, you then realize its on the terrible female Mezco body and test out her articulation. She doesn't have the best articulation, but it doesn't really stop this figure from looking great and holding things the way she should. The suit bunches between her legs, and she has these stitch balls on the side of her body that really stand out. Once you get passed this, you see how excellent the face sculpts are. All of the head sculpts are superb and it makes it a tough choose which one to use. I love all of her accessories, the hand grenade is really cool along with the bomb and rocket launcher. Her accessories really help fill out the look of her character and she really packs a punch.

Her soft goods like the wraps around her wrists are fabric and very detailed. The neck wrap area is also soft goods and not plastic, it really helps add to her complete look. Another thing I was concerned with was how well she would stand, and she really doesn't have issues like previous female releases.

Overall

Even though Harley is held back by her articulation, she's still an excellent figure and looks great on a DC shelf. Her costume is perfect and the soft goods details are very well done. She comes with new weapons that haven't been used on other characters and fit her personality perfectly. My suggestion is to buy her fast if you don't already have her, I think shes going to be a Mezco gem now and into the future.

GI JOE Classified Cobra Pimp Daddy Destro

It's been a long time since we had new GI JOE figures from Hasbro in our hands, but its starting to look like it was worth the wait. I've been picking up the majority of the 6" classified series, but right now I think Pimp Daddy Destro is my favorite in the current line. Now this isn't the same level of figure we are used to reviewing with the $23 price tag, but it doesn't matter its a great figure. Hasbro released the original deco Destro in wave 1, but I'm really happy they went with this repaint for him. Lets take a closer look at what Hasbro is offering us now in the 6" scale.

Pros

Very good paint applications
Sunglasses fit the character perfectly
Cape fits snug and looks great without making the figure heavier in the back
Burning cash is the coolest piece of the figure

Cons

Destro is a great figure, no issues with paint or joints

The Pimp Daddy Destro has some interesting lure from the past in the late 90's. What was originally supposed to be a figure never made it to the shelves and has become a grail for GI Joe collectors. Now for me I love all GI Joe figures, but the original Pimp Daddy Destro will always be out of my price range as he goes for $1000+. We were lucky enough to get the gold and silver versions in 2008 with the 25th anniversary line and I own them. This 6" Destro takes the look to a whole new level. Hes an excellent figure base with great paint applications all over. He comes with his cape, suitcase, pistol and the very cool burning wad of cash. He has excellent articulation with no lose areas on his body. Some of the new classified figures have a little bit of looseness in the torso, but it doesn't seem like a common issue overall.

I really didn't know what to expect when the new Classified series was announced. I feel like series 1 missed the mark and looked to futuristic for my taste. I decided to still buy them and make some modifications and repaint a few of the figures. Since the first wave was released, Classified has become the hottest item on the toy market. People are searching everyday to find these figures, so the good news is GI JOE is BACK!!!

Overall

If you have been sitting on the fence not sure if you want to collect this line I would suggest picking up either version of Destro. Destro version one was the first figure I picked up from the line, and I am very happy with both versions Hasbro has provided. I am hooked, I am all in with this line and even if a few things are off in my mind I am customizing them to fit the look I want. If you get a chance to get your hands on Pimp Daddy Destro I wouldn't hesitate to grab him. He's a lot of fun to play with, and even my kids have really enjoyed this specific figure. Lastly, GI Joe is finally back and we are so lucky to have it on the shelves, I suggest we continue to support the GI Joe products so Hasbro knows how big it is to all of us collectors!

Storm Collectibles Golden Axe Skeletons Review

Starting as a young boy, I've had an obsession with skeletons whether in some scary room of the dead or warriors fighting them in old school movies. Skeleton toys were a big thing in the 80's when I was growing up but we never had a true skeleton to play with. Enter Sega and the game Golden Axe, where you could enjoy beating up on some very cool skeletons. So many cartoons in the 80's had some kind of skeleton bad guy or weird scene with skeletons in the background or rising from the dead. Golden Axe became that game where I could play out fighting these creepy skeleton warriors. Fast forward to today and Storm is releasing figures from the game including the skeletons! Enough about my love for them, let's take a closer look to see how well Storm did at pulling off highly articulated skeletons.

I really love these figures, and the fact they come as 2-packs is icing on the cake. I currently own 6 of the skeletons and I find myself playing with them all the time! You would think since they are thin they wouldn't stand well, but they can hold so many different poses and meet that Storm standard. I've had fun giving them different weapons and putting them in all kinds of goofy poses just to see what they could do. Once again, I find myself keep coming back to these figures out of all the new stuff I have on my desk to play with. The sword and shield are well made and have excellent paint applications. I've also tried using different toy line accessories on the figures and it seems a lot of different toy lines fit well with these sets. They are a little taller then a 1/12 scale and fit the Storm 7" scale perfectly.

Overall

Listen, Storm Collectibles is currently rivaling all other companies as my favorite collectible company. I'm always extremely happy with their products and their price range. I've bought many different skeleton type figures over the years but these are by far the coolest skeleton figures ever! I'm considering buying 1-2 sets more because they are just that good. The price point of $60 for a pack of 2 is really good, and I have no complaints.

Mezco Toyz One:12 Collective Nosferatu Review

Mezco surprised everyone when they announced that they would be doing a figure from the 1922 silent German film Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror which was the first vampire film. It's a classic character that has had a major influence on all other vampire films that have come out since then. I honestly don't love vampires or the horror genre in general, but this figure is so visually appealing that it has become one of my favorite Mezco figures which is a pleasant surprise.

Pros:

3 Head sculpts
6 Interchangeable hands
Coffin with lid
Lantern
6 Rats
8 Keys on a metal ring

Cons:

There is nothing glaringly negative about the figure. The one thing that people might not like is that it comes in a bundle which makes it more expensive than a regular release.

Figure

The figure itself is beautiful. He has great articulation, high quality soft goods and accessories, and stunning life-like head sculpts. In fact the head sculpts are my favorite part of the figure. The eyes catch the light just right and give it that creepy look. All of the accessories are very nice, but my next favorite part of the figure is the casket and the rats. That is a nice touch and something that we have not seen from any other Mezco figures yet. He also has a hat, keys, and a lantern. If you are a weapon fanatic then this might not be your favorite figure. However, I find the head sculpt and soft goods to be so good that it more than makes up for that.

Overall

Nosferatu is the grandfather of film vampires. Any fan of vampires or the horror genre in general are not going to want to pass up this figure. This figure came as a bundle. Some people like that and some don't. It includes a collectors metal lunch box style package and a t-shirt. Of course, when they include extra goodies it also raises the price. Is it worth it? I will let you be the judge of that. However, many people online have expressed that since these figures are already quite pricey for 1:12 scale figures that they would rather not have to pay for the extras. Regardless, if you bite the bullet and buy this figure you will be satisfied. This figure is an out of the box character, and it is clear Mezco put a lot of thought and effort into this one.
