Come on out and dance the night away to the sounds of the Valley Winds Big Band and Midnight Blue. There will even be a dance instructor to provide dance tips! This great event is raising funds for the VWMA and the MS Society.

Please join the Metropolitan Winds for our second concert of the season! The eclectic program includes Beethoven’s Egmont Overture, Hymn for the Cream and Crimson by Saucedo, Third Suite by Jager, Dusk by Bryant and Olympiada by Hazo. In addition we will be featuring the challenging Vesuvius composed by Frank Ticheli. Originally started as a wild and passionate dance the piece became more fiery and explosive as it developed and was more in keeping with a dance in the final days of Pompeii before it was destroyed by Mt Vesuvius. An exciting piece we’re sure you will enjoy.

Two cherished celebrations come together in this program! The 55th season of the Calgary Concert Band will be marked with the first performance by the CCB of the landmark Symphony No. 6, Op. 69 (1956) of Vincent Persichetti, one of the greatest works of all time for wind band.
Remember Expo'86? We reprise the excitement and energy of that special time with High Spirits of Canadian composer Louis Applebaum, premiered in Vancouver in 1986. This rare and unforgettable concert will also showcase the powerful and emotional playing of artist Charles Foreman in a performance of the Concertino for Piano and Wind Ensemble by Pulitzer Prize winning composer Karel Husa.

If you are apprehensive about the "vocal improv" part of the evening, rest assured that there is NO requirement to sing, and you will enjoy the spontaneous music being made by others. You will not be alone. If you're up for a good sing though, there is no experience necessary - only a good attitude!
