Behind the scenes at Zest Mixology

People often ask how we are able to operate our cocktail events in locations across the UK, from central Scotland to Brighton and everywhere in between. Other people ask how our Ibiza operation works.

The answer is a core team of event managers that drive around the UK in branded vans setting up mobile event bars, glassware, dropping off all the required alcohol, ingredients, ice, freezers, printed cocktail menus and themed lighting at all the events. We operate around 40 events a month.

There are event managers in central Scotland, Yorkshire, Cheshire and Bristol that have local storage locations that are full of the vital components needed to set up a first class drinks service at any event from a 3 hour dinner party to a 12 hour marquee wedding for hundreds of guests.

Once an event manager has set up a mobile event bar and the the required equipment at an event, our cocktail mixologists, flair bartenders and hostesses arrive to serve up whatever drinks the client has specified. We often provide a 'Complete Bar Service' which means our mixologists are serving cocktails, spirits, mixers, wine, beer and soft drinks.

Our national team of cocktail mixologists, flair bartenders and hostesses are based all over the UK, in the key cities.

The event managers then return either at the end of each event or the following day to collect the equipment, return it to the storage locations, wash all the glassware and re pack the vehicles for the next event.

In Ibiza we have a storage location that holds our mobile event bars, glassware, ice freezers and themed lighting from May to October. All these items are driven over to Ibiza from the UK in our branded 4x4s at the start of the season and driven back to the UK in October.

4x4s are essential for our work in Ibiza as many of the villas we visit are only accessible via steep and dusty tracks that Transporter vans have great difficultly with.

In Ibiza we have 2 event managers present for the whole season that attend every event and our UK mixologists fly over to Ibiza for various lengths of time to also work at the events (as many Ibiza weddings in 2011 had 100+ guests). Events are at villas, on yachts and in unique locations all over the island.

Cocktail teambuilding is a great way to entertain a group of people for 90 mins with highly interactive and quirky entertainment that is fun throughout. Cocktail teambuilding may also be referred to as a cocktail masterclass, cocktail training or cocktail clinic.

Cocktails shaken at 138 metres!

This week, one one our flair mixologists visited Radio City in Liverpool to shake up cocktails for the staff and teach them how to make a few selected classic cocktails.

The Radio City towers stands 138 metres over the Liverpool skyline, with unrivaled views across the city.

With a mobile event bar to serve from and themed lighting for added impact, Tom entertained the Radio City staff with flair routines and great tasting cocktails. Various xmas parties last week

We set up this 2 metre mirror bar with lighting poles in the offices of Camelot in London for a Christmas party for all the staff and their friends. We run an 'unlimited free bar' for 3 hours which served Mojito, Caipirinha, Berry Collins and Cosmo. Staff were entertained by flair bartender Ricardo and some had a go at making their own cocktails under our guidance, just for fun

This 2 metre mirror bar with blue lighting poles was set up in Ripon within an army barracks for their Christmas party in a marquee

In Bolton, we set up this 2 metre premium bar which has the whole of the front fascia lit up with a sequence of flashing colours. This Christmas party was in a nursery with all the staff celebrating with an 80's disco.

In Liverpool, we set up this 1 metre mirror bar with subtle illuminations for a the staff of a regional magazine, having their Christmas party.

Masquerade Ball, Yorkshire

Last weekend, Zest Mixology provided a 'Complete Bar Solution' for a Christmas party in Newcastle with 240 guests. The client, Greggs (who operate more than 1,500 bakery shops around the UK), chose to have a Las Vegas themed event and the cocktail bar service was for a drinks reception for 60 mins before dinner.

Our three cocktail mixologists set up the themed mobile event bar in the afternoon and then prepared 240 cocktails so they were ready on arrival for the 240 guests to pick up. Featured on the menu were Pornstar Martini, Cosmo, Mojito, Dowa, Mexican Mule and non alcoholic Refresher.

Once everybody had a cocktail hand the three cocktail mixologists ensured that everybody got their 2nd cocktail made to order, shaken and served.

This event was held in a large function room of an large Newcastle hotel. Zest Mixology supplied the mobile bar, mixologists, glassware and menus. We then created a 'shopping list' of all the alcohol/ingredients needed and the hotel supplied these. The client paid us for our services and the hotel for the alcohol. This arrangement is very popular as it means that you can have a fabulous cocktail experience in any venue. We will liaise directly with the venue once you have asked us to.

5,000 girls embrace a themed cocktail experience

This month Zest Mixology setup and operated the showcase cocktail bar at the 'Ultimate Girls Night In' event which was held at the White Rose Shopping Centre in Leeds and hosted by Radio Aire.

A massive 5,000 all-female guest attended the event, making it the biggest event in the city, with a headline performance from Joe McElderry and Rizzle Kicks.

The themed cocktail bar was set up at a vantage point looking over the main stage and served classic cocktails, fruity mocktails (non alcoholic cocktails) and soft drinks. The drinks were all themed after various popstars, with girls calling for a 'Rihanna' at the bar.
