One week Post Operation | Hair Restoration UPDATES

Well on April 9th as many of my followers on Youtube Instgram and Twitter know I underwent the restoration of my natural hair. I know many of you are wondering... What. Exactly. I mean by that. Well, In addition to having a really high hairline all my life... I was also beginning to notice the gradual reduction the edges & temples. Like MOST people would assume this is NOT all from weave wear and or Alopecia. My family has a history of female pattern hairloss, that and the high hairline are inherited from my maternal grandfather.

I have been "Natural" or "Chemical Free" a newer term for wig wearing (non creamy crack users) since about 2009 2010. One day I just decided to cut my hair off because I didn't need it... annnnd yeah I could just use Lace wigs and weaves. I mean they're easy to wear make things quick and offer SO much versatility... My natural hair longing began with just wanting the OPTION to wear a cute TWA tapered to my face and some jeans and just be cute and stress free and not hav to work about a track showing or the wind revealing my thinning edges... or hearing those lil giggles... thinking... damn... were the meant for me... Sometimes vanity can drive you to want to do "better" or in this case "different"...

I slowly began to search youtube and other blogs for help with my new found "natural desire" I found such channels as +ToyabooTresses +Miss Vanisha Africanexport +Cipriana Quan @Chescaleigh @NaturallyD0lly @BronzeGoddess & MANY more wonderful encouraging women with simple techniques for hair texture similar to mine. These channels not only offered hair care but style protection and inexpensive product recommendations and reviews...

Armed with a lil knowledge and a lil confidence I had a small "Hair Coming out" party. Some people had fun some came and left early ... some got drunk and called my mom names... buuut. It served it's purpose.. it put me in a postion I couldn't and didn't want to get out of... I'm natural here I am. It was

more about accountability which is why I LOVE making youtube videos... I Love being able to give & receive support...

I did one or some more videos and decided, well, learned that my hair was fragile... dry and in need of DEEP care and understating I also wanted to adress the concerns NOW that could plague me in the future such as thinning and receding hair. My BIG forehead is something that hasn't exactly made me nor could it break me.. but I think having a minor reduction could GREATLY help the quality of my hair and in many ways my life.

Many people recommended I go completely bald, which is a noble sexy and BOLD decision... that doesn't QUITE fit me or my personality or even really my lifestyle... A low hair cut a TWA even a face frame or a taper... I am TOO all OVER the place to be bald by choice. I LOVE to change my hair up and going natural was to finally give me the choice to actually make it MY hair... While I LOVE wigs... I was on to the next.

I had NEVER really heard too much about this type of procedure for women, let alone Nubians. My mother was actually the first person to kinda put me onto this type of procedure... said she seen it on TV. SO I did some digging and lo and behold googling "Hair Line Lowering" yielded a GREAT vast outcome... I found QUITE a few different Doctors that do this procedure .. but NON of them had half the appeal of Dr.Diep of the MHTAClinic.com

I liked the fact that he had MANY before & after photos and many were ethnic men and women. I stree this importance because all of the factors are important when choosing a surgeon to conduct your procedure. They have HAVE to know and care about you in order to complete a natural looking hair line.. that is undetectable and natural looking. ALL races and ethnicities have nuances in the shape of their faces hairlines and the way the hair follicle lays within your head. I learned all of this from Dr.Diep and confirmed it through research.

After sending him several photos of the top, each side and the back of my head and my face to make a decision on how many grafts I would want/need and where about I want my hairline to fall... We talked about this in more detail when we met. He drew a nice natural hair line for me. I added what detail I wanted, which was NOT TOO small of a head.. I want to maintain a sizable forehead... as it is a part of me...

So on April 9th at approximately 6am... My procedure began.

My FUT Hair Restoration Journey

On April 11th I will under go FUT Follicular Unit Extraction Hair Restoration Surgery.

Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT)
Hair restoration can be done with Follicular Unit Transplantation. This procedure involves the transplantation of one hair graft at a time. Each hair graft may consist of one to four hair follicles. The objective of FUT method is to restore hair to how it naturally occurs in nature. There are two different types of FUT, which can be used to harvest hair grafts. The most commonly used one is the "strip harvesting technique" and the other type is "Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE).

The strip harvesting method involves the removal of a thin strip of hair from the back of the scalp. The area where the hair is harvested from is known as the "donor" site. The gap in the donor site would then be sewed together to close up the opening. Hair surrounding the donor site covers the incision, making it less visible. From the donor strip, the grafts are dissected under a special microscope. Each graft may contain one to four hair follicles. Once the dissection is done, the hair grafts are ready to be placed in the recipient's bald or thinning scalp area.

I decided to go with MHTA & Dr.Diep because from the moment we connected on the phone i I felt as though Dr.Diep was an EXTREMELY knowledgeable and caring Doctor. Not to pigeon whole the Doctor but I feel as though this is and exceptional niche he has carved out for himself. They helped me book plane tickets at a great rate and also helped me find car service and a hotel very near their clinic... airbrushed... Think about it... Ok.. so when we do regular makeup we aim for a pore-less, natural look and most women will use a stippling/ duo fibre brush or a beauty blending sponge of some sort... WHY? Because all those little hairs replicate pores! The more brush hair the better... which is also why a HUGE fluffy brush can ALSO give you a FAB finish!///

MAC Pro Conceal & Correct 4 Palette Review

Ok so this is my unofficial review of the MAC pro conceal and correct palette. I am a big fan of color correctors of all sorts so no surprise when this came out I was VERY excited to indulge. At $40 it is a BIT

of a splurge.. however, WELL worth it.

First let me start out by staying this palette has 6 cream products. 4 are concealers 2 are

PRO color correctors.

I love the fact that they come with so many other concealers for you

to mix and match together to get the BEST results. I have tried MANY correction palettes,

MAC Makeup Forever and Napoleon Perdis make a few of my favorites. They are my favorites for the reasong of having multiple colors or shades... I also like Josie Maran's Peach color corrector and concealer duo.

Some of my favorite things about my experience with the MAC Pro Conceal and Correct Palette

are the texture and the pigmentation. A little goes a long way and it blends VERY well..

I also like the way it wears, light yet FULL coverage. I set my face with prep + prime and it

lasted a VERY long time... I also used Fix + to blend and mix my concealers.

As per setting with the pre + prime | I applied the powder around 7 or 8pm it is now 3:23am (323 used to mean SO much to me. glad to see it is still with me) and my face has only been powdered twice...

I'm currently a little shiny but the coverage is still full and I'm not TOO RED! Which means a lot coming from a former MAC miser... Oh god am I becoming a #MACGirl

The first step in this process was Dying the # closure Blonde. If course you can buy a closure blonde... you can also buy one pink, however I prefer my custom coring work. If you o too... you'll enjoy this!

Combing the closure and making sure all hair is tangle free is important to insure
an even and solid bleaching.

I also turned it over to bleach the Knots. (additional video below)

The Next Step is for me to dye the Hair I used. I used REALLY inexpensive hair from the Local BSS son French Wave hair costing

approximately $10 I also made sure to properly comb this hair out while dying it.

I also mixed the dye and conditioner by hand. This is a VERY easy process and it's important NOT to over this this. The main thing it to use WHITE conditioner. I like to use suave white tea moisturizing conditioner... or Redkin All Soft when I'm feeling Fancy. Watch video above to learn how to mix hair color and apply...

I had an AWESOME time Filming and creating this Roy Lichtenstein inspired look. Loosely based of his 1964 hit "Crying Girl" I decided that this would be a GREAT Halloween look. Despite some fun I had with photoshop it's a really easy look that you really don't need much makeup or money for.

for more detail and more fun! Another reason I was inspired to do this look, was that I had

never seen it on darker skin so I was REALLY excited to try my hand....

For my dots I used a beige concealer pencil all over for the "pop dot art" look!

Jennifer Lopez Makeup "Follow the Leader"

Jennifer Lopez makeup is an Icon all on it's own. The glow the flirty lashes and the peachy nude lips that just won't quite. Building light layers blending and using proper products with the proper undertone is KEY. Not to mention working the proper tool. Warm bronze, gold & peach colors are your best bet. JLO likes a sexy but understated face that let's all of her features shine through! Below I have some tips tricks and how-to's on Jennifer Lopez's makeup. Below you can see the culmination of great blending proper product placement. Also note how all the colors play well together on the models face and does not overwhelm her features. Also note how the contouring lifts the face & gives a finished polished yet still bronzed look.

Highlighting the act of brining forth Contouring the act of receding. When you highlight an area it stands out... it stands tall and begins to bring attention and light to the area even helps to slim areas when applied (down the center) in certain areas. Contouring makes areas stand out less, it also helps areas to appear more dimensional when used in conjunction with highlight.

Eyelashes are the icing on an already tasty cake. They are attention getting little feather frames for your eyes. Apply them properly with the tips below and watch ALL the attention you get. Don't forget to cover the band of your lashes with black eye liner.

AirBrush Makeup | My new OBSESSION

Okay so I'm Tardy to the party... but let me say it now... I LOOOOVE AIRBRUSH makeup!!

... for some reason I had the idea it'd be a tedious daunting task not worth the investment... why?.. I'm not so sure... I think in part... the machine it's self, scared me away... I thought the assembly alone would be "the most". I have happily come to learn I was wrong. Luckily through my Youtube beauty editing work I was allowed the opportunity to experience Belleto Studios AirBrush system.

SO easy to set up and begin work. Here are a few of their Promo Videos.

Of course I got going right away. Check out a video I made within a day or so of receiving this airbrush system. I had fun, it was easy and the results were smooth. What do you think?
