Mother's Day Weekend + Mini Shopping Haul :)

This Mother's Day (weekend.. yes it stretched into a weekend celebration!) was really special for me.. I don't think I've been able to celebrate Mother's Day with my mom in over a decade yes a DECADE because I was living all over the US and recently in a completely different continent!

So I was beyond thrilled to be able to spend it with her this year :)

My mom is the bestest!

She is the smartest and hardest working woman I ever known in my entire life and if I end up being even half the woman & mother that she is I'll be thrilled!

Admittedly I really just wanted to watch her open box after box after box.. and there were a few desserts in there that I wanted to "sample" myself bahahahaha!

Thursday Friday specializes in lightweight cotton canvas tote bags w/ pictures of Chanel/Hermes/Balenciaga bags on them! So cute!! And you know I love my Chanel muhahaha!

I immediately grabbed this bag when I saw it and walked around the store and was literally stopped by 3 separate shoppers to ask where I found this bag hahah.

The bag is open top but it comes with an adorable shiny gold clasp.

Alexander Wang Rockie in Acid w/ shiny gold hardware!!!

A lot of you maybe familiar with the ever popular Alexander Wang Rocco which has been out for a few years already.

I have always loved the Rocco but whenever I tried it on I always felt like it was just a tad too big and "baggy" for my tastes since I was so used to carrying very structured Chanel flaps.

Well apparently I wasn't the only one that felt this way because they recently birthed the "Rockie" for those of us that loved the Rocco but just wanted it in a smaller version :)

The bag measures 8" x 10" x 7" and weighs just under 3lbs.

I was really concerned about the weight because of the studs on the bottom of the bag.. and while I haven't used "her" yet but I actually find it to be lighter then my Chanel jumbos!

Whenever I'm out with my mom and I have my hands full or something she offers to hold my Chanel bag she never fails to mention how heavy my jumbos are heh.....

So excited because I've been wanting a more "throw around" bag for awhile.. I use my Chanel jumbo's on the daily but I often find them to be difficult to use because of how structured they are... they are really limiting in what can be carried in them.

Whereas the Rockie is a lot softer and smooshy and the bag can expand a bit to fit all your odds and ends :)

On this side of the bag if you see the middle part sticks out a little bit and that is because.....

It has two secret zippered compartments which you can store things like a card holder, cash, train tickets ect!

I tested using the bag around the house and the one particular design detail that I absolutely adore with is the bowling bag style zipper - it is preciously why I find this bag SOOOO darn cute. However it is admittedly a bit difficult to open if you're standing up like at a cash register waiting to pay or something. So you can just stash some of your cards and cash in the side zippered pockets.

The bag handle drop measures 4" and the remove able "crossbody" strap measures 19"

I put the word "crossbody" in quotes because while it may be crossbody for some people it doesn't really wear crossbody comfortably on me and I'm not even that tall HAHA. I'm 5'5 and it rests a little bit past my waistline.. so it's at a really awkward height. But if you're carrying groceries in.. have your hands full ect. then it can definitely be "crossbody" in a pinch.

I also wanted to mention the Rockie in Acid comes in TWO different versions.

The version I have is a smooth leather w/ gold hardware and studs and is a few inches smaller in size then the other version. Also the color is more of a muted lime green.

Whereas the other version of the Rockie in Acid is actually a much brighter neon yellow and is made out of pebbled leather, has nickel colored hardware and studs, is a few inches bigger then my version and is slighter more expensive. You can view my version here and the other version here.

I wanted to explain that there are two versions to this bag because funny enough I didn't realize there were two versions and for months I would randomly go into Neimans/Saks/Nordie's to go look at the bag and they NEVER had both versions so whenever I would see the smooth muted lime green versions w/ shiny gold studs I was literally salivating.. and then I would go some where else and I would see the pebbled neon yellow version w/ dark nickel hardware and couldn't figure out why I didn't LOVE it as much as I did the LAST time I saw it.

BAHAHAHAHAHA.

And then after doing a bunch of research online I finally realized there were TWO VERSIONS.

OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.

Chanel Poudre Universelle Libre

Basically a fancy way of saying "setting powder" hahaha

My mom got a $25 dollar GC to Neiman Marcus and very generously gave it to me!

Which I used it to purchase part of this... I've been eyeing this for a loooong while but couldn't justify the purchase because it is sooo pricey. But after purchasing it (and yes while I paid for half of it with a GC) there's SOOOOO SO much product I actually think even full price this plastic tub (the container is HUGE!) will last me a looooooooong long time! Definitely worth it!

It comes with a cute little "Chanel" powder puff but I don't use it I use a giant kabuki brush and do a light dusting over my face after I put on my foundation. It makes my skin look sooooo so good! Gives it just that little bit of extra coverage and makes my skin look sooo smooth I use to use the MUFU HD and this by far is soooooooooooo so much better! There's 4 colors and I got the 2nd lightest out of 4 - Translucent 2.

Also during the day time when I'm in a rush or not wanting to do a "full face" of makeup I use BB Cream and do a light dusting of this product and it gives that perfect fresh faced no makeup/makeup look!

I went in to buy my FAVORITE piece of chocolate from them. I only buy chocolate from Godiva ONCE a year because my favorite piece of chocolate from them is a seasonal piece and is only available during spring around Easter and that is the Almond Butter chocolate egg. OMG EFFIN' GOOD.

Dude Godiva is really generous these days.. I paid $2 bucks for all of the chocolate above! They gave me 3 free pieces!!! WHHHHAAAT! hahahaha

My Favorite DC Museum - National History Museum!

Took The Hubs to my absolute favorite museum in Washington DC - The National History Museum!

Dinosaurs Galore!

This is totally dorky but see the dinosaur on the right with the long tall neck and the long tail? It's called a Diplodocus and it's my absolute favorite dinosaur in the whole world AHAHAHAHA.

Why? I don't know but I've liked it ever since I was a small child and I still love them.. they just look so graceful and elegant HAHAHA :p

MIU MIU BLUSH REVEAL!

I SWEAAAAAAAAAAAAAR this is my LAST Miu Miu reveal! (at least that's what the Hubs hopes bahahaha!). I'm sorry I can't help it I think I'm addicted to Miu Miu shoes.. they just make the cutest, feminine, whimsical shoes ever!!

But these were sooo so cute and they were 40% off and in my size.. and they were calling my name.. and I swear I'll get a lot of wear out of them and

I know I've been on a serious wedge kick lately. I'm obsessed!!

You may remember the reveal I did last year w/ these Miu Miu wedges. When I first got them in the mail I couldn't stop wearing those they were so comfortable and when I found these I almost had a heart attack. I mean blush pink and gold sparkles?! How could I not?! muhahaha

These are slightly different then the black Miu Miu wedges these have T-strap design.

But the back is my favorite part they have two straps of gold glitter on the back they look SOOO cute hooked on to the back of your feet!

They are made out of suede and have glitter on the straps. One thing I really love about Miu Miu is the attention to detail. If you will notice there's no glitter near the buckle area of the strap because obviously buckling and unbuckling will cause the glitter to shed so instead they actually coated that particular area with a type of gold metallic paint.

They are the same height as the black ones they measure 4 and 3/4 inches w/ a 1 and 1/2 inch platform.

And have I mentioned that I love them?? bahaha.

I love that it's a blush nude color because they really help to give the illusion of a more elongated leg.

I have to admit I'm a tad petrified about wearing them out because of the fact that it's a blush color and it's in suede!! It'll be like a magnet for rain and dirt and mud ARGH! hahaha but they were to pretty to pass up!

I'll just wear them only in an indoor mall or something. bahahahahaha

I'm warning you I think you'll be seeing these A LOT in my spring and summer OOTD's!!! :) muahahaha!!

I have a couple of pairs of leather leggings that I love and wear quite frequently but I've been on the hunt for a pair of leather pants that would wear more like trousers versus being skintight like leggings. And I think I've found it with this pair from F21! I must admit I'm totally guilty of living in leggings... it started with regular cotton leggings, then moved on to jean leggings.. than leather leggings ARGH. Totes guilty of passing off leggings as pants! But I really love the trouser feel to these leather pants! Even though I love my leather leggings I find that the leather pants seem to give the outfit a bit more structure that often gets lost with leggings.

With the monochromatic black look I felt like was a perfect excuse to pull out my sparkly A. McQueen's! I really don't get to wear these as much as I'd like.. it really can be difficult to pair sparkly shoes with everyday clothes haha.

Mini Chanel reveal time!

WOOT!!

I have a very small collection of Chanel costume jewelry just 2 pieces (now 3 :)!

The first one is the Chanel pearl necklace you see in the above picture that The Hubs purchased for me during our first trip to Paris for our 1st wedding anniversary.

The 2nd I revealed here a vintage gold Chanel piece that the Hubs surprised me with recently.

I actually don't really believe in buying designer costume jewelry because it is quite pricey (now don't get me wrong I LOVE costume jewelry I just don't really believe in spending a lot of money on it because I feel if you're going to spend a lot of money then it's better to invest in fine jewelry! Habit of nature because I use to work at Tiffany & Co. so I can't help but think that way :p)

But I had been searching for a very particular piece of Chanel costume jewelry for a loooong time. Something that Chanel is well known for. I've searched for it in just about every Chanel store I've visited in the US, throughout Europe and even Asia! I've actually tried on about a dozen different ones but I just couldn't find one that I was in LOVE LOVE with.

Well I finally found it! WOOT!! :)

I've tried on SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SOO many Chanel pins!!

I think it's just so classic and chic pinned on just about anything a blazer, wool winter coat, a dress shirt and even a simple tee-shirt!

I especially love it pinned on my Chanel pearl necklace.. it's kinda of neat because it sort of blends into my pearl Chanel CC necklace so it looks like it's one giant necklace w/ the tiny pearl CC's and the one giant over sized crystal CC's!

They've made Chanel "CC" pins in a bajillion different styles.. and I've tried on so many different ones from flower motif ones to pearl encrusted ones.. and they just weren't "me".

Well as all of you know I just adore "bling" anything hahahaha.

If it sparkles I love it.. I'm like a bird hahaha!

Still loving all things leather as you can obviously tell hahaha. I'm so obsessed with my Mango leather sleeved coat! I wear it everywhere! The leather sleeves just toughen up and add a bit of edge to anything I'm wearing. :)

These are made out of calf hair just like my fuchsia Brian Atwoods. And you know how much I wear those!! They're constantly in my OOTD's :)!

These seem to shift in color depending on the lightening and fluctuates between emerald green which is Pantone's 2013 color of the year to a dark teal blue color. Love the amazing rich color(s)!

They're 4 and 3/4 inch tall with a 1 inch platform so they wear like 3 and 3/4 heels.

They run TTS and if you have wide feet like I do they're super comfortable because of the almond shaped toe box.

I LOVEEEE LOVE the Brian Atwood Maniac pump because they are soooooooo comfortable they are definitely by far the most comfortable shoes out of my entire shoe collection.. I think that's why I can't stop collecting them in a plethora of colors!

I've always thought about getting the Maniac pump in black because it only made sense.. it's a classic staple shoe in a classic staple color but you know me I love my color so I was ecstatic when I found this dark teal color and on sale no less! It was fate hahaha. The dark teal color is more of a unique twist on a neutral and at night it looks like it's a cross between black and emerald green which I LOVEEE for fall and winter!!

Another reason I love his shoes so very much they are really leg lengthening hahahahaha. My legs really REALLY do NOT look like that normally bahahahahaha!

Ramen Time!

One of my comfort foods is really REALLY good ramen!

We actually tried going the week before and were told there was a 2 hour wait! So we didn't wait because the Hubs was starved already so the following week we decided to go 30 minutes BEFORE the restaurant opened to wait in line.

We still had to wait 30 minutes though but while I was in line I started talking to a lady in line and turns out she was from HAWAII!! WOOT!! It was so nice.. It was just like being home! and gave me the fuzzy wuzzies hahahaha. *Sigh*

Charsu Bowl, Ramune & Sparkling Water

OMG the Charsu bowl was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOD! The meat was sooooooooooo tender and juicy.. and smooshed all together w/ the rice.. INSANELY delicious.

Munchie slider w/ Japanese potato salad

Ok for whatever reason I thought this was going to be chicken katsu in the slider so I was really surprised when I bit into it and it was fried ground meatball!!! So it was REALLY like I was in Hawaii.. because I would only eat that in Hawaii.. my heart really ached when I was eating this hahahahaha.

Japanese potato salad.. one of my absolute favorite things to eat IN THE WORLD. PERIOD. I don't know why but I'm really weirdly OBSESSED w/ Japanese potato salad.. I heart Kewpie mayo!

Tonkatsu ramen w/ chasu & par boiled egg

This was DELICIOUS!

Seriously legit tonkatsu you can tell the soup was stewed for houuuuuuuuuuuuurs and hours and all the yummy porky bone marrow has melted into the soup.. omgosh it was sooo milky and rich.

He's happy hehehe :)

Mi-So-Hot ramen

This was mine.. it was a tan tan ramen with a creamy under base which I loved.. I love tonkatsu ramen but I find after eating tonkatsu for a bit it's a bit tooooo rich for me but the spiciness of the tan tan helps cut the fatty rich taste. This was SOO delicious! I loved it!

BTW I always judge a ramen place by the egg.. Ramen egg should always be halfway par boiled. And you can tell from the picture it most definitely was! Two thumbs up from me!

Light delicious and refreshing! Perfect especially after a rich and spicy bowl of ramen.

I have a confession. I'm a closet hoarder. Literally.. I hoard things in my closet bahahahaha!

I tend to buy things that I think are cute and love even if I don't really have a purpose for it and sometimes I won't even wear them for like a YEAR or TWO! I KNOW RIGHT.

Isn't there some cardinal rule about donating clothes if you haven't worn them in 6 months.

HAHAHAHA.

Umm.. yeah I epic fail on that rule.

Anyways a couple of years ago I bought a couple of bandeau's with full intentions of wearing them except I could never figure out how to style them!

I love sheer tops but I'm a bit more of a conservative dresser (HAHA. ok maybe not.. the bandage skirt is not helping my case here) but since I am a married woman I try to not wear clothing that's too revealing or that would be construed as disrespectful to the Hubs. hahaha so even though I LOVE the look of a bra under a sheer top.. the Hubs definitely does not like it on me and I have finally realized after TWO long years of hoarding the bandeau's in the back of my dresser drawer that they are perfect underneath a sheer top and even better the Hubs approves! WOOHOO! :)

I've been wanting to try it ever since I saw it on Man vs. Food and Diners, Drive-ins & Dives!

And if you're familiar with famed Chicago based chef Rick Bayless who specializes in Mexican cuisine.. he's been spotted here (there's pictures of him at the restaurant on yelp ahahah!)

Can you tell I love watching food shows hahahahaha.

They also have an insane and I mean INSANE bakery at the front of the restaurant.

The bakery has ever type of Mexican dessert, pastry, empanadas, cookie, cake, candy you can image!

They have like 5 different types of Tres Leches.. even an oreo cookie one!

INSANE!

Definitely coming back to try their other types of tres leches hehehehe!
