Re: MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS [Forum: Weight Loss]

I have been taking coconut oil for about 3 weeks, and I also gagged by taking it my the spoonful. I read that someone would put several tablespoons on a plate, besure to flatten the oil, and freeze it. So, now I take a frozen tablespoon out of freezer and take several bits and use water to wash it down and it really doesn't have much taste. hope this helps. So far, I haven't lost any weight either.

Re: Coconut milk [Forum: Skin Health]

I have been using coconut on my body and face for the past week and a half and I'm very pleased so far. I put the oil on my face twice a day after I wash my face. I have very dry skin so this helps. My face is a little oily at first but once the oil starts to soak in the oily factor goes away leaving soft skin. So far, so good!

Re: l-lycine / argenine ration in coconut oil [Forum: General]

I also have a lot of problem with cold sores. It seems to run in my family as my dad suffers terribly from them also. I find that if I use the CO Lip Balm with Tea Tree oil I don't get cold sores. As soon as I stop using it and try something else....yep...a cold sore. If I do happen to get one due to severe stress or over exposure to sun, this lip balm helps clear it up quickly. I've been using the VCO for a couple years now and it doesn't seem to increase my susceptability to cold sores at all.

l-lycine / argenine ration in coconut oil [Forum: General]

I am interested in using coconut oil for it's health benefits. I have been taking Monolauren supplements for suspected virus caused nerve problem. Also, I seem to be very sensitive to high argenine vs. l-lycine foods - especially chocolate (i. e. cold sores). I see that coconut is in this category. So I wonder about using coconut oil and coconut meat for it's health, anti-viral properties. Any input?

I use coconut oil on my face, instead of a skin cream. Just once a day, after I wash my face.

I think the oil is more convenient and pleasant to use then coconut milk.

Re: GAINING WEIGHT SCINCE STARTING THE EVCO [Forum: Weight Loss]

Well, I'm in the same boat as the rest of you. I am dealing with a hypothyroid which I know is part of the problem, but I have gained 7 pounds in 4 weeks. The VCO has helped me with my energy, I really do feel and see a difference. My diet has not changed for the worse and yet here I am. I'm going a bit crazy! I have done some research into this issue and on one of the other posts a woman discussed Milk Thistle, which is supposed to help aid the liver rid itself of toxins. In doing some internet research it seems that if the liver has too many toxins to filter it can cause your weight to either not come off or even gain. I got some Milk Thistle to test this theory. I will let you know how it goes!

Re: did any one count calories while on the coconut diet? [Forum: Weight Loss]

I am not ready to give up! I have done some research today on Milk Thistle and how it helps the function of the liver. This could be a key to what's going on. If the liver has too many toxins it can't function properly and Milk Thistle is suppose to help rid your liver of these toxins so it can filter the fat you are consuming properly. I will see if this helps and report back!

Re: Re: did any one count calories while on the coconut diet? [Forum: Weight Loss]

Karina, you sound just like me! Except you're doing a lot more working out than I am. My basic 'plan' is low carb/anti fungal [which is just low carb plus anti fungal supplements]. I believe this is the healthiest way to eat and I do my best to include raw food with every meal. Yet the weight/fat will NOT budge!

My bloodwork thyroid tests were pretty normal, i.e., not enough to for the doc to put me on any drug/supplements [Armor Thyroid?], but I'm thinking if that thyroid isn't charged fully, nothing we do will work. I even take iodine to help charge my thyroid and my body temp still hovers at 96!!!!! And I've been taking Lugols iodine for at least 8 months or longer now AND I put iodine on my skin too.

I did manage to like 20 lbs in 2007 [yeah took a whole year!] and then gained it all back in a month.

I said all that to say, Yeah, I can identify with you totally!!!! You're not the only one fighting this !!!!

I have been taking for almost 4 weeks now. My energy has increased significantly. I am dealing with a hypothyroid too, but my weight gain is very frustrating. I have been working out 6 days a week for 6 months now, doing resistance training and cardio after lost 40 lbs. The weight has slowly been creeping up on me and now I have found myself with 20 of those pounds back. What is frustrating me most is that I have a 7 pound weight gain in the last 4 weeks. I know this can't all be fat, but I have been eating VCO and a healthy diet. I know part of the issue is not counting all of my calories, but 7 pounds in 4 weeks. That makes no sense to me. I can probably account for some of that with my thyroid issues, but still this is crazy and starting to drive me crazy. Has anyone else had this sort of issue?

Re: Re: Re: 8lbs in 10 days [Forum: Weight Loss]

This is VERY encouraging! I am also hovering between 240 and 230 and cannot for the life of me no matter what I do or take or don't take, get that weight to !

I believe my hormones are basically out of whack since I am 57 and went thru menopause without drugs, only natural supplements. Not sure how long it takes for the hormones to re-balance at the post menopause levels, but my body does NOT want to release fat.

I have increased my 'good fat' intake mostly with coconut oil and coconut creme, but it's obviously not enough YET because after a month on my low carb/ anti fungal program, I have not ped an ounce! It's enough to make me pull my hair out but it's already falling out in clumps so that wouldn't be a good idea!

Trying to increase the coconut oil and after reading this post, I'm gonna try even harder. Thanks for letting me rant and ramble and thanks for the encouraging post!

Chicken bumps on arms and scalp Psoriasis [Forum: Skin Health]

Keratosis Pilaris...I found that coconut oil (I usually buy the organic non-or virgin oil for skin) and I consume the extra virgin organic kind. My DD is half-Hawaiian and has super dark, super dry skin. I never used moisturizer myself my entire life until age 25 and above. But my daughter was born with super dry skin and gets chicken bumps on her arms.

I find if I slather coconut oil on her arms and body 2 to 3x a week, her chicken bumps disappear and so does her dryness and she gets this luminous glow to her skin. It's amazing. No lotion she uses does that for her.

For myself I found that if I coconut oil my head/hair for 20 minutes (saturate) or overnight (cover with a towel) and then wash out (takes 3 or 4 washings)...my psoraisis on my scalp reduces to almost nothing. I notice it come back and becomes itchy again if I haven't been doing this (I use nizoral shampoo too, though about half the time). I find coconut oils works best for my scalp and I've tried preions, salicylic acid, other oils and you name it. I get it behind my ears and in my ears, so all I do 2 or 3x a week before bed is get a q-tip or my finger and oil up behind my ears and in my ears and my psoriasis flakes are gone: kept at bay!

I eat it, too but haven't seen any results to that yet..weight, or candida wise or anything. But I forget to try to get 3tbls per day.

BTW DOES anyone have a coconut oil shampoo or conditioner hair/scalp recipe?

Re: coconut oil as a 'prebiotic' or probiotic for the body [Forum: Digestive Health]

It doesn't qualify as a probiotic, but it is anti microbial. Which means it kills bad bacteria, like candida and others, and those bacteria would crowd out and kill the good bacteria if left to proliferate. So, using coconut oil definitely benefits the colonies of good bacteria in your body by removing the harmful ones.

I personally eat lots of yogurt and use naturally fermented saurkraut.
