Re: MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS [Forum: Weight Loss]

Keep in mind, Linda, that the flavor of the coconut oil differs depending on where you buy it. But I agree, straight coconut OIL is a bit gross to just take off the spoon. Same could be said for olive oil, flax oil, etc.

I use coconut CREME, which is 70% coconut OIL and it IS yummy right off the spoon! BUT mostly I make other things to get my intake. For example, if you melt the creme, add a can of coconut MILK and some natural sweetener [I use honey or agave] and mix well, it will SET UP nicely in the frig or freezer for a quick bite sized snack. Just plop in mouth and let it melt! YUM. You could add many things to this too, like finely chopped nuts, dates, seeds, etc.

Our Dear Daughter SEnt me a website to go check out info about using Extra Virgin Coconut Oil for weight loss,Fibro,Chronic Fatigue. I read the sucess stories & thought that sounds doable.
Went out & bought jar & tried to take it of a table spoon & then thought, this is absolutely gross.
When I told her I had done that she said Mom,why would you try to take it like that,I don't think you are supposed to take it like that.I told her thats what some people who had lost a great deal of weight had done.
Anyway I've been reading the postings here & thinking there has to be an easier way to get this in & not make me gag.
I have used to cook eggs in & that was ok,but I do not eat that many eggs.
I do not drink coffee or tea.
I have Diabetes,Fibro,Chronic Fatigue,Osteoarthris,& other heath issues as well.
My health would be so much better if I could remove & keep off about 130 pounds.
I take 4 shots of insulin,2 different types, dailyin order to control my Diabetes, I also take a bunch of prescrition Medication for my health issues.
I would be so happy if I could get off some of this stuff.
If anyone has any ideas for my to try with the coconut oil so I can get it in & not gag.
That would be great.
Thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Linda

Re: omega 3-6-9 oils vs coconut oil [Forum: General]

Omega 6 is already over supplied in most people's diets, I wouldn't recomend taking it. I also don't take any polyunsaturated oils as a supplement. They go rancid very easily, and even if they are not rancid they still produce free radicals inside the body and reek havoc on our immune systems.

I only use coconut oil to cook with, and I put it on food. Sometimes, I will use ghee, but rarely.

Re: MY WEIGHT LOSS TIPS [Forum: Weight Loss]

i think it is important to note that those who have trouble losing weight with the coconut oil still must reduce their calories. if you are not calculating your calories every day, than you are probably eating way too many. A functioning thyroid will aid in weight loss while there is a CALORIE DEFICIT, but give it too many calories and the body will simply store it. You cannot just eat coconut oil and hope to lose weight. It has to be in conjunction with a lower-calorie diet and exercise.

I was exercising hard and watching calories and not losing any weight, eating 1500 cals a day. Added the coconut oil, removed the other fats so I am still eating around 1600, and FINALLY the weight is coming off at a rather surprising rate, after just two weeks.

There is no magic bullet, if you add calories you will gain weight, even if it is from coconut oil! there is no replacement for diet and exercise.

I've been eating coconut oil for almost 3 weeks.
I can't imagine it will cause weight gain because I just exchanged my other 'oils' for coconut.
In place of butter on my bread
In place of olive oil in certain dishes
In place of cooking oil when frying.
I'm eating the same amount of 'oil' just a different type. Overall, I may have added 100 calories extra a day since I use it in my coffee (yummy.)

Thanks Brandi....would be nice to lose some weight after all this time...I think I have had this for most of my life...just didn't know what was wrong with me. I had my blood work done today to see if my levels have changed. I know it has to be depressing to go back and forth like that. I am so tired of dieting without any success. Good Luck with your situation. Have you ever used Armour?

I was diagnosed and began to lose weight immediately with synthroid. I was put on 125mcg and I went from 259lbs. to 109 lbs within a year it was amazing since then my medication has gotten back off track and still dont have it stablized.I'm Now 220 lbs. and HATING it. I have No energy, fatigue, constant pain, migrains, etc. but if your meds are stablized and your on the right dosage you can and should lose weight I'm starting to wonder now after 11 years though if my body is use to the meds and rejecting them now nothing seems to work. Reqardless though you will always struggle with your weight no matter how good it is managed! GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Dr. Batmanghelidj, recently deceased, was the most knowledgeable person I have yet encountered on the medicinal use of water, and the widespread negative effects of dehydration. His books, still in print, are well worth obtaining and reading.

 By: Lisa Katalin,

I read all your posts, I think, and went back to read the one where you said what you eat during the day. I didn't see anywhere where you stated how much weight you need to lose. If it's a significant amount, like over 15 lbs, your diet sound awfully low cal.You may be shocking your body into starvation mode. I know it sounds so weird, losing weight is all about ping calories and adding physical output, which is basically true, but if you change your diet suddenly, it can do this. Also, you should find out if there is a thyroid problem. Coconut oil can help that also, but you may not need to so many calories and carbs. A teen using the diet you are on would probably lose alot of weight fast, but as we grow older, or bodies get used to a certain regimen, and any sudden change is rejected. I am 35, and I upped my physical activity, added the coconut oil, but otherwise didn't really change my diet.Maybe doing it all at once is too much. I would keep up with the exercise, and the vco, oh , and try it in green tea, green tea is an excellent weight loss aide, and very good for anyone. But maybe eat a little bit more than you are. That way your body will know it's ok to burn up those calories during exercise, and after, which is when alot of metabolism is actually done, in the resting hours, days after you work out. Also, watch out for soy, even in your salad dressings.

By: Katalin Your notes of miraculous weight loss make me disgusted. I am stuggling as per my previous messages, using VCO and only weight gain of 12 pounds. Now I am being extra, extra careful of my eating habits, jogging, joined a health club ( doing weight training on resistance machines), reduced my VCO and barely lost ONE pound this week. I guess my being 52 yo might be a factor but I am a very difficult time reading all these weight loss 'stories'. VCO still makes me feel good, but I really hope I am reaping all the benefits that the 'gurus' state. But this is a real struggle when I have only seen weight gain instead of weight loss.
