Here, in India, most of us are quit happy with the new 2mbps internet connection now available (though, it hardly ever gives the 2mbps speed).
Now, in America, the average download speed there is 1.97mbps.Great, huh?
It ought to be, for us Indians, for the average download speed being 200 kbps.
But it’s not the Americans who get the last laugh. In Japan the average download speed touches 61 mbps, but then what else will you expect from them!
Certainly not this: A 75 year old lady in Sweden happens to own a 40 gbps net connection!!
Yes, you read that right folks it is 40 and it is GBPS! That equals to downloading a full duel layer DVD in two seconds.
Before you starts drooling over this bit of news, just think what in the hell will a 75 year old lady do with such a connection. Well here it is-

75 year old granny + 40gbps connection = Chat with relatives + play online yahoo! Games + search for recipes online + download windows updates.

Fell like jumping off the window, don’t you?!

Ok. I had said that i was making the schools website. Well, guess what.... It finaly has been uploaded!!

Pssst....actually i'm using the schools computer to write this, missing my hindi classes!!

Being a blogger, I like to monitor each and everything- from number of people visiting to what they like the most. But unfortunately I was not able to find such tool which could get me the information I wanted. Then, I came across this awesome tool, a tool which I knew existed but did not care to use it. Though, I did. And now I wonder how stupid I was to not to use it.

This tool I’m talking about is called Google Analytics. It not only tracks the amount of visitors but also tells you where they are coming from, what they are viewing, how much time they are spending and what not!!

Take a close look at the picture aboveto see what it is capable of.

All you have to do is register yourself with Google Analytics, through your Google account, paste the code they’ll provide into the page you want to track and its done! Within seconds tracking will start, giving you all the information you needed in simple graphical form.

This is a must for every blogger or website owner.

Finally the iphone is here (I mean in US). Packing some really good features, the phone + music + net communicator has really made a blasting entry in the market, with people standing in lines well before days the phone was to be launched. Some even selling their occupied space in the queues!!
iphone, packed with some really cool features, has only been launched in US for now. Don’t expect the mobile to be in Asia till late 2007, and in India; don’t know.

Along with its ultra sexy looks the iphone has a 3.5 inch touch screen with multi touch feature. No keyboard, use the touch-screen. It has a Proximity sensor which detects the distance between you and the phone, so as to automatically switching off the screen and touch function. The phone also has a motion sensor, to adjust the display, according to how you are holding it!
The third sensor in the iphone is called Ambient light sensor which automatically adjusts the display’s brightness.
You can listen to music through it, surf the web with Safari and yes, make calls.

Well, this was the good part, now for the bad part.
No removable battery. The iphone does not support the 3G band, meaning it won’t work in Europe and parts of Asia.
The call quality is not up to the mark. The phone lacks stereo Bluetooth support. Has a slow data network and a bad integrated memory when compared to i-pod.

Overall, I’m not impressed with the iphone, except for its looks and those three sensors.

NASA has been looking for Extraterrestrial Intelligence for more then thirty-five years now. It is a pricey treasure hunt and unfortunately has not been able to yield any positive results so far.
So, to help this assist this search an exploratory science has been set up that seeks evidence of life in the universe- it is called SETI, Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence. Currently the centre for SETI research develops signal-processing technology and uses it to search for signals from other civilization in our galaxy- civilization like ours.

SETI@home:
SETI@home is a part of the SETI projects. It uses computers connected with internet for search of ET. Anyone can become a part of it, by just downloading a freeware that downloads and analyzes radio telescopic data.

The best part of using SETI@home is that, if SETI is successful in finding ET all the users will be credited for the discovery!

It's July, summer holidays are over, going to school is the last thing I want to do this year. It's my 10th grade, which means those BOARD exams, which means, unlike previous years, I'll have study, which means I'm dead. See, I'm not even able to write properly!
Keeping my blog updated seems to be unreal. So, what i have decided upon is to try to update it only on weekend. But then, I'm not sure about it. Got nothing more to say.

IBM has announced its new second generation of worlds most powerful Super Computer- Blue Gene/P, the successor of Blue Gene/L which is currently the world’s fastest computer. The Blue gene/P triples its performance then the Blue Gene/L, giving a staggering mark of more then one "petaflop" -- or one-quadrillion operations per second.

“The result is a machine that towers over other systems. It enables science and commercial supercomputing to attack vital problems in ways never before possible -- modeling an entire human organ to determine drug interactions, for example. I really don’t watch much of T.V. but whenever I do, one thing irritates me the most- those senseless and baseless advertisements.
I’m not saying that all advertisements fall in the above category, but most of them do.
And those are the ads which get on to my nerves.

Let’s take the underwear and vest (I know this is kind of sic but they are the worst ads, indeed) advertisements as an example- A man wears an underwear and, voila, we have the next generation superhero. Picking up weights as if they were balloons, racing on bikes with no shirt and only vests on and making it look like as if it is the vest which is going to make them come first (ultimately he does come first and the vest is behind it), did you know that they have invented vests which will make your pet parrot, child and wife dance and sing the brand name whenever you will put them on, that’s what the idea I get when I see one of those ads. Genius people they are, really!

Then they have a totally different breed of ads. Grab a hit bollywood song; change the lyrics (i.e. each and every line should have the product name), add some third-grade, untalented actors and top it all with worse anthem you can find, the most common being:
“Product name”-mard ki pehchan! (Identity of a man).How eye catching!

The list of these crazy ads goes on. Somebody tell them that it’s useless and shameful.

I came across these two great free games, thanks to digit.
Nexuiz:

You don’t deserve to be called a FPS fan if you don’t know about the grand daddy of FPSs: Quake!!
This game, Nexuiz, has been created by a team of developers called Alientrap(these people are cool!),which is based on quake III arena.
It is one of the best free FPS games I have seen so far.
The graphics are mind blowing, almost the same to the arena.
The game offers a arsenal of 9 weapons and 24 maps, though more maps can be found on their website and forums.
The game offers two play options: Single player or multiplayer.
Multiplayer is off course better, but only if you have a good net connection.

Neo Sonic Universe:
I first found game on my relative’s comp.and I loved it. But after that I was never able to play it again, until it came on digit fast track.
This game is the best clone of Sonic Hedgehog!!
Equally fast and with equal almost equal amount of mojo!
You can select between different characters, but my favorite is knuckles. You get the option to play either battle mode or adventure mode, both offering great experience.
So, have a great taste of arcade games, need a game which is not hard on your computer, this game is for you, no matter if you have played sonic before or not.

Rember, I had said something about my personal webpage in my one previous post: "I'm Back"? But no, you people probably did not care to read it. Must have though that I may be giving crapy excuses about that long brake i had taken.
Well, i was not giving any excuses. What i had said, and am saying again, is that I have created a personal site for myself and need your help. You can do that by giving it a look(eventhough it is not complete yet) and leaving a comment or two on how i can improve it, out here.

I first heard this news on May 21, 2007. Vijay Mallya had announced his plans of having a F1 race in New Delhi. Ralph Schumacher had accompanied him.
“Impossible!” was what my cousin brother had said, reason being “the too hot temperature in Delhi.”
Even I quit agreed with him, but somewhere down, I prayed for the news to be true.
March 22, 2007: “F1 Street racing in Delhi’s Rajpath road!” Now this news took me for surprise. Where will they find space their? What about the traffic? Rajpath is quit a busy road, which connects to almost all the main roads of Delhi.
But it looked like the dream was coming true!
June 14, 2007: It’s all over the net, new threads being launched in F1 related forums, the news is everywhere! India will finally host the F1 Grand Prex in 2009, and that too in Delhi!!
Finally, F1 here in India, in Delhi and a race every year! This must be the greatest day in the Indian sports history and an ultimate nirvana for all the motor sports fans here in India, that includes me!!
The IOA (Indian Olympic Authority) has been given the responsibility for infrastructure and the related suff. And if all is done properly, we might see those mean machines here in Delhi racing with each other in front of us!
Unfortunately, the news is not good for everybody. Sources say that ones India is located in the F1 map, USA will be removed from it.
But the only regret for me is that I won’t be able to see the legendry Michael Schumacher in action, here in Delhi.

Most of you must have heard of about the apple’s very own browser called safari.
And must also be knowing that they, recently, have made it available for windows.

As soon as i heard that safari is available for windows, I downloaded it to see how great it is.

One thing I must say, the eye-candy is great; better then any browser I have ever used. Actually, I had expected something great, visually, from an apple product.

Even if you don’t like the browsers own looks, the affects it gives to the website will certainly grasp your attention. The key behind this is the font- small and bold. You actually got to experience it to see what I mean.

Performance wise it is not much behind, either. Time taken to load pages was little less then Firefox. But, when it comes to loading pages, nothing can beat Opera- The fastest browser ever!

Feature wise it is almost the same as Internet Explorer, except one feature, which I very much liked: The Private Browsing mode. When enabled, Safari does not store any information on the computer- no history, no cache, no auto-fill nothing. This makes the browser quit good for private browsing. I really liked this feature.

Overall, Safari is a good browser but still has room for improvements, which I expect to see in the coming versions.

Though, I remain a Opera-Firefox fan, I have started using this browser for orkut, the browser gives a really good feel and look to the website, again you got to experience it to see what I mean!

About three weeks ago i had finally got my two Linux destros: Ubuntu and Kubuntu (along with four Ubuntu stickers).
Alright, they do sound funny. But Ubuntu is actually an African word which stands for humanity. And Kubuntu is a part of the award winning Ubuntu project.

Both the Linux which i had got are Live versions, meaning that you need not install them, just put the CDs in the CD-ROM, restart your computer and let the Linux load it's kernal and stuff.
Though, if you wish to can install the destros. through an icon right on their live desktop.

Personally, I liked Kubuntu more than Ubuntu. Not only because of it's great eye-candy but also because it was bundled with more software. And yes, the software was no crapware, all of them were very useful. From image editing softwares to some simple and small games,which sure are fun to play, can be found in the CD itself.
Both the destros require a minimum of 256 MB RAM and if you plan to install, you will be needing a minimum space of 2GB.

Though, I don't plan to switch completely to Linux, I will keep using it.

Time to time most of us people have to create back-ups of our precious data and what better place can be, to store your stuff, than the good old web!
Web storage has become something very useful and necessary these days, especially for those who need to frequently back-up their data. There are many reasons for people switching onto web storage:
1)Most of the web storage services are cost free or cheap. Also, the cost of buying CD, DVD etc. for back-ups is reduced.
2)Chances of loosing data is near to none, because (in most cases) the data is stored in well protected and backed-up servers.
3)For developers of any kind, like graphic designers, artists, programmers etc. it is something God send, as many of these sites provide a content sharing option, though which you can also share your creation with other members as well as back them up.

Along with these, there are many more benefits which makes web storage a great back-up solution.

In the beginning, web storage was a very limited and slow service. I, remember, subscribing to an web storage service, few years ago, which provided only 25mb of space and uploading was one hell of a task.
But now, the condition is different, with the advancement of internet technology and accessibility of broadband, things have changed. Now the storage space is easily in GBs and uploading is a child's play!

There are many sites which are dedicated in providing these services.

Looks like the gaming industry has finally realized that their is a country, known as India, in the world map!!First the X360, then the gaming events like Koad5, WCG India,EAWC, Reliance Gamebox and it's very own SKOAR!(unfortunately, I was not able to go their, all because of my stupid exams).

And now the next-gen. gaming console: Play Station 3!!
The launch took place in Delhi's InterContinental The Grand hotel at Connaught Place.

Now, if you don't know it's specs, you really don't deserve to live (hey, I'm kidding!!). Well, here they are:

Guys, I found this really cool flash based game on the net, Its called Jelly Jumper.
The objective is to lead a man made up of jelly from one key of a keyboard to another with a smiling face, by making him jump. It's not that easy as between you and the smiley are the bad keys..one wrong step and poof you have been melted!

Today, we have everything- multi core processors, RAM running into GB’s, mind blowing GPU power, PPU, the list is endless.

Software’s and games are running in full throttle, giving benchmarks no one ever imagined of! Still, even with this gigantic processing power, something is missing….

Why do we always have to wait, which seems to be ages, before we can successfully copy stuff out from a CD/DVD or from anything to the hard disk or when your dream game runs smoothly on your mind blowing rig but you brake your neck when waiting for it to load to the next level (talk about gore in gaming!).

Well, the culprit is the Hard Disk. Yes, the hard disk (HDD) is the slowest component in your computer, with a data transfer speed of up to 300Mbps in a SATA-II drive. While in RAM it is up to 8Gbps, in mother boards it is up to 10Gbps!

So, the thing is that we need a faster HDD or replace it with something else.
Eventhough, replacement right now is something difficult, in the future something sure can replace or improve the good old HDD.

Show me the future!
There are many things which may or may not replace the HDD, here are three of them:

1)RAM, being so fast, still cannot replace the HDD because we all know that RAM is volatile,
which means that everything in its memory will get erased as soon as power supply is stopped
So, replacing RAM with HDD is will not be smart thing to do.

2)We may also use flash memory, but even with no moving parts, flash memory has limited
read and write cycles, which is less than that of a good quality hard disk. Also, the capacity of
flash drive is very less than that of the hard disk; the maximum goes to about 5 GB, while
HDD can easily go to Terabytes.

3)One affective option will be using fiber optics for data transfer. The advantage will be that the
data transfer will be at a rate of 30Gbps (yes, 30 Giga bytes per second), without the need of
a heat sink!! But this alternative will be really costly. Even though fiber optics are getting
cheaper, the materials required for converting electric signal into optic and vice-a-versa are
too expensive. So, producing HDD based on fiber, optics right now, would not be economical.
Tough Intel is planning (or has already started) to include fiber optics in their chips,
motherboard etc.

So in all, the best option is still the HDD. Though, super-fast optical chips are no more any fiction story.

It's raining quad!!
Intel is releasing their 12th quad-processor in their quad collection. It's the QX6800.
It is an 65nm process with 8MB of L2 cache and a 1066MHz FSB. The 2.93GHz processor is said to be 65% faster than the previous generation X6800, which was a dual core.
The processor is aimed at gamers and enthusiasts and and is the fastest till now.

The question is, where is AMD? It still has to launch it's very own quad-core, Barcelona, as an answer to Intel.

Everyday millions, if not billions, of people search for something or another on the net, unaware of the fact that they are being tracked, virtually.
Everyday people send thousands of search quarries to the search engines , and yes, it all gets stored up. The situation becomes worse if you have an account registered out their!
For it becomes much more easier to track you, your online preferences, everything.

Take Google for example. Google has so many services to offer, out of which only some can be used without an Google account. So ,what is the bad part? Well, think of this- orkut, Gmail, Google earth, adword, pagemaker etc. are all kind of linked to each other, through your Google account. Now, wont' it be easy to know our friends, residence, interests, website and God knows what not!
That's not all, what if they make it mandatory to have an Google account for searching or for any service, they have all rights to do so!
We all are so much dependent on search, that we all will not thinks twice before signing in.

Though, they can also make good use out of all this information by providing better search results, but I really am not interested in telling them everything about me...really.
