Online Promotion and Getting Traffic to your Site.

Online promoting and marketing has become a lot more competitive. There are millions and millions of sites literally on the web. To get traffic to your site, people need to become more creative in their marketing strategies.

One such person is Russell Brunson, who has a program at free dvd, where he offers a DVD only $7.50 (shipping and handling to be mailed this DVD), that explains it all. If you are new on the web and looking for outside the box information, I assure you this DVD has it all. Especially at such a low risk of $7.50.

Russell Brunson is a young guy who has made his fortune on Internet marketing. He also has a great affiliate program which is free to join, and offers a lot of video tutorials to help you out. He also offers every Monday a free live chat via web video. I don't know about you, but I would rather watch a video at my convenience and time, than have to dial in for a conference call. I joined this affiliation right away and have been quite impressed with all the products he does offer. If you are looking to join a free affiliate, I would suggest checking out free affiliate to join.

Another way to get traffic to your site is to build an email list. One way to do this is to give away something free. Write a short ebook, offer a DVD, something. For visitors to get this free item they need to give you their email and name. Not only are you getting their info to help build your email contact list, but you are also recommending your affiliate product, or whatnot in this free report you have given them.

Other ways to promote your site, are joining forums and putting your website in your signature. Make sure you contribute good comments and postings, and it's not just spam. Also read the forum rules to make sure this is allowed, because that is a quick way to get kicked out.
Write articles on your product or website and post them to as many places as you can.
Something similar to this could produce a string of traffic.

I know I have neglected this blog, but when you have more than one...it happens. Anyway I ended up deleting a blog, because it didn't really have a page ranking. Neither does this blog, but I don't have the heart to delete it.

Mostly I've been busy blogging on ho'oponoponoworks, and recently I just started a pet blog at lovable canine. But in my travels I did find a great content writer. And if you are anything like me, there are days when you struggle for content!

So true for me. If you are interested in checking it out, check out instant article wizard. It's a little on the pricey side, but it saves you a lot of time, so weigh your pros and cons, and decide if it's right for you.

Hi, sorry I haven't written in awhile, I've kind of moved out of freelance writing, and have started writing for me. I've stumbled upon SITH (self identity through) Ho'oponopono. I know you're like Ho-what? I know this isn't about writing, but I thought a little self promotion wouldn't hurt.

I've started a new blog, and if you're interested in positive though, laws of attraction, or loving yourself, check out My Ho'oponopono blog. If you want to know more about me and my life, this is a great blog for that. Also it is updated almost daily as I find ho'oponopono is easy for me to write about.

I guess if you are passionate about something, that is all you need to motivate you to stay writing. Since I'm not so passionate about freelance writing, I'm struggling to find things to write about. One good thing, is the blog I freelance for, won an award. So yeah! Otherwise, nothing new and exciting.

One thing I did want to mention was let's make 2008, 2000 and great! Otherwise I wish everyone a great year and much success your way.

Writing for Dollar$

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Just in case I don't wish them to you closer to the date, I want to get that out of the way.

Well it's another month of writing, and I've made a whole $700.00 more this month. Writing part-time is great, and the extra money is a blessing.

During my travels though I have come across a few things:

1. Don't pay money to get money - there was a website out there, I'll keep it anonymous for now, that claimed if you paid $40.00 membership each month you could be a genre leader. Which meant you'd have to do a lot of work, and depending on how many people signed up under you, would be how much you are paid. So say I had 100 people signed up under me in my gene, that would be I get 100 x 40 = 4000 x 10% = 400 per month. Now that sounds great, but I would be lucky to get 5 people my first couple of months. I did the math, I would have to pay them to write for free. I don't mind writing for free, but if you want me to pay you...you're loony! So naturally I declined.

2. No matter how rushed you are, produce quality articles. I almost lost a gig because I just wanted to get it done and didn't care about the quality. Most jobs you get, do have the potential to expand into better paying jobs, so don't burn those bridges...

3. Learn to say no. In the beginning, any writing job, free, or paid, I was like I'll do it. It just got to be too much. My work suffered, and I lost interest in writing. You can probably tell as I haven't updated my blog in awhile. So learn to say no to ones you are so-so about. But learn to say yes to fantastic opportunities.

4. Learn to accept comments. After visiting many websites and blogs, I realize that comments are a part of life. In the past I have turned off this feature, but I guess if I want to get out there...and get more traffic, I need conflict, which you'll get with comments.

How I made $700 this month freelancing.

Back in August I created my very first blog. I was naiive back than, I was under the impression, if you build it, people will come. Ha ha ha, I made sure my blogs were rich in keywords, rich in content, and had google adsense all over the page.

A blog is great, but it's nothing if you don't have a page ranking, or at the very least traffic. Since I created my blog it's been four months. Do you know how much I've made with google adsense? A whole $6.00. Wow am I getting somewhere.

That's why I am grateful I found performancing, indeed, and craigslist. I'm also glad that I started looking for freelance writing and blogging jobs. If I hadn't, than I wouldn't have made $700.00 this month.

I've read other blogs that claim to make $1000 just from their blogs, and someday I would love that, but for now I do what I can, to get that extra Christmas money.

This article is dedicated to explaining how I made $700 this month, and how it'll continue each month. First thing, join perfomancing, create your own blog. Update it regularly. You'll be surprised by the people who contact you just from performancing. Check craigslist, this is a valuable resource. Check Craigslist daily for jobs in your area. Craigslist isn't as popular as monster or workopolis, so you don't have nearly the competition.

Other places to check are problogger, indeed, ifreelance, etc. Some places you need to pay membership for, I would suggest you research this before you spend money. I managed to find all my jobs without paying for a costly membership.

How I make $700 a month is this: being a freelance reporter for Cheezhead, writing two reviews for Eaton Webdirectory, writing 20 ehow articles for $300 for demand studios, and writing for a Canadian Blog. I have only just begun my freelance journey, but already I am quite profitable.

As long as you have a portfolio, a place to demonstrate your skills and abilities, and you are always applying for jobs, they will come. Just make sure you never rush your jobs, and you give high quality articles or features. If you do, you'll be surprised what your jobs may grow into. They may turn into a steady gig, or they may give a chance you normally wouldn't get.

Either way, if it wasn't for all the tips on performancing, I don't think I would be nearly as far today with writing as I am. So thanks for that.

Getting a Novel Published can Turn into a Movie

The new movie No Country for Old Men starring Tommy Lee Jones is now in theatres. What is exciting about this movie is that it is based on a book. I always think it's great when books turn into movies, because it always gives me hope that not only will I get published, but I'll get a movie deal too.

Cormac McCarthy wrote this great story about drugs, cocaine, and guns. What's even neater is this website has a coin toss game like no other. To check out the game, click below.

A Great Website Builder

I know this is a little off-topic, but I thought I would address it. Every great writer should have their own website, but what to do if you're not knowledgable? Well check out http://awriter.ws. This is a great site that has a website builder, gives you your own domain, and allows you to make money from referrals. Plus it's an easy sell because they have a great little video that does everything for you.

Imagine being able to join and try out their product for 7 days before committing to anything? Have you ever tried to purchase a domain before and than changed your mind? You won't get your money back, you're stuck with it. Trust me I have 4 domain names that I don't do anything with. What's even more frustrating, you get your domain and than you look for the cheapest hosting, big mistake! Now try building your website? I couldn't. That's why I look for site builders. This website has a great one.

Now let's look at the benefits:
1. Free 7 day trial
2. Get your own domain
3. Easy to use site builder
4. Make money referring people

Now how much does it cost if you want to use it? Only $10.00 a month. That's about an average hosting cost. So not only do you get a great website that's easy to build, but your monthly fees are only $10.00 a month.

Oh and one last thing, the extensions are .ws, not .com, or .ca, so you get to use popular words that might have been gone. Or you can capitalize all the extensions with your domain. Ever heard of Video Resumes?

This past week I have been busy researching the subject video resumes for a client. I was startled to realize how popular they are. Almost made me feel like I was behind times a little. Ha ha.

What I learnt was, in today’s highly competitive job market, video resumes are an asset. But only if they are done correctly. If not, just picture Aleksey Vayner, and his obvious mistake. Video resumes can work in your favor or damage your career. If you do choose to make one, keep it professional.

Today I finally made a resume for the “virtual world.” I had one for the “real” world, but not one with all my writing and blogging experience. Now I think I need to create a video resume to really stand out.

If you’re like me and kicking around the idea, here are some tips:

Keep it no longer than three minutes
Wear a suit (this applies whether you are male or female)
Keep jewelry to a minimum (guy’s freshly shaved)
Don’t make big gestures
Stick to only business stuff. Talk about your resume only not your personal life
Have a person interview you
Don’t do anything foolish or unprofessional
Don’t have long answers. Keep it short, but detailed enough
Video resumes are becoming quite popular. YouTube alone has over 4,000. So in today’s vastly competitive market, maybe you do need to think outside the box and create a video resume.

If you choose to make one, you’ll need to figure out if you want to create your own with a digital camera, webcam, or go through an agency. If you choose to use an agency like vault.com, you are looking at anywhere from around $100-400. I suggest to go this way if you are unsure of how to make your own. If you are tech savvy, save your money and make it yourself. And if you are worried about privacy, I suggest not posting on YouTube. Of course if you were worried about privacy, I’m sure you wouldn’t even make a video resume.

And once your video is completed, you need to host it somewhere. At hiremenow.com they offer free hosting for your video. Then when you apply for a job you can just send your employer a link to your video.

In any case, if you’ve never heard of video resumes, now you have, and if you want to stand out from the competition, you’ll actually make one.

Found some writing jobs!

I am so excited. Today I wrote my first article as a "ghost writer" and got paid $25.00. Sweet. And really the article maybe took me 30 minutes to write. So I am stoked.

Also I wanted to share with you how I found these positions. Okay, nothing is more frustrating than to find a writing gig. Especially when you have to go to places where they make you bid on projects. Can you say yeah right! I mean here you are looking to make money and they want you to spend money, does that make any sense?

So here's what I did. I went to google and typed in quotes "writers wanted" and maybe the city after. So it looks like "writers wanted" canada. Doing this gave me link after link of writing jobs that were free. That's right, the inside scope. Sure there is still a lot of garbage to go through, but you get some good stuff too.

That's how I found my ghostwriting gig. The guy got me to write a sample article, and than he paid me for it. Nice eh? I also applied for a lot of jobs through http://www.craigslist.org (and your city). Another great tool. Or of course my space and facebook also have classifieds that list jobs.

My last place that I think you should try is great. Especially if you have a lot of time on your hands or are a new writer. This site pays you to post on forums. So maybe if you're a new writer and not sure about yourself, or you just want to make some easy cash, this if for you. Check out http://www.paidpostingtools.com. This site has campaigns where they let you choose what forums you want to write too. Than the forums pick who they want to write for them, and if you are chosen, than you have an assignment. Like the one I'm writing for is on beauty. I get 15c a post. So I could post 100 and make $15.00. Which is more money than I've made with any make money scheme out there.

What is exciting for me, is these are "real" jobs. Not get-rich schemes. But real paying markets.

Well my website http://www.brandingyourselfonline.net is now ranked #4. If I search the key words "branding yourself online" I am the #4 position. If I search the key words "Branding yourself" I am on the bottom page. So yeah!

When I first created my website I started buried within the search engine. I am happy to report that in a short month I am now listed on the first page. Yeah!

Also I wanted to let you know after doing some reflection I have decided to drop my ebook price to $19.99. It is a more reasonable price, and one people can afford. This way when you purchase my ebook it won't seem such a risk.

Okay now on to the writing. I have been looking for some writing forums to see how other people make money with freelance writing. And to be honest no one has the answers. I do enjoy the forum, people do have a lot of tips and suggestions, you just need to be careful to follow their many rules.

The website is http://www.writingforums.com. I suggest if you are looking for people to critique your work, or for advise, this would be a great starting point. Again just make sure to follow the rules.

Hi, for those in Canada I want to wish them a happy Thanksgiving. I am so looking forward to a nice turkey dinner. Yummy.

Well I haven't even started my second ebook, I know, bad. But with school, work and side projects, I just haven't had time to tackle this mission.

I did want to announce that I have changed my price back to $39.99 for my ebook. So now it's back to full price. Yikes! But don't worry everyone who has read it says it is well worth that price. Most of the people had no idea that to market on the internet was so complex. And that's why I have created the guide, so it's easy to understand and follow the steps.

I am also delighted to tell you I have figured out how to have affiliates. It's not fancy, just a simple organization, but yeah at least I can now offer it.

Last Week

I'm back.

I didn't really start my second ebook this weekend, I know, bad. But I did enjoy the weather, lounging around, sun tanning and just relaxing. It was like the last week of summer and I just wanted to enjoy it.

Welcome to the internet. Too many people are afraid of the unknown. I know, I've been there, but if you don't take a risk once and awhile, how will your life be different? A lot of women seem to take the risk once they have children, they don't want to leave their children everyday to go to work...well I am taking the risk now. I am tired of working 9 to 5, there must be a better way.

Now that I have written my first ebook, I know there is a better way. I just have to promote it like crazy and start having regular sales. The internet is so vast, I just have to make sure people can easily access my ebook.

The ways I have begun promoting it are:

1. Press Releases (these sites have really high page ranking, so easy to get listed #1 on search engines).
2. Articles. Again the more you paste your URL everywhere, the more traffic you will get, and the higher your own page ranking.
3. Directories, anything that I can submit my URL too, I have.

This weekend I plan to enjoy the sun and write my second ebook. This ebook will be on how to write an ebook, how to promote an ebook, and how to sell it online. Shouldn't be a hard write, like my first ebook. This one will be simpler and should be done a lot sooner.

On a brighter note I found a proof reader who is a lot cheaper than the ones on the market, so I will be using her services for my second book.

I just want everyone to know, that you can follow your dreams and it will happen. I've wanted to be a writer for so long, but I didn't know how to start. And now I am glad that I am finally doing something. Who needs to sit around and wait for a publisher, when you can be your own.

Well folks it has finally happened.

After working the whole summer on my ebook, it is finished and now so is my website. I am still tweaking and perfecting it, but it is now published and live.

You don't know how exciting this is. I created my own work and now I will profit from my ebook. That's me getting 100% of the revenue.

I am just so proud that I am finally published on the net, and already my website is on the first page of google when you search the key words "branding yourself online."

My Ebook is Finished!

Hello

I know I haven't written in awhile. But I have been busy with work and side projects. But I am excited to let you know that my ebook is finally finished.

I did have it posted on my site for like half a day, but I noticed it wasn't quite ready yet. I've decided to charge $19.99 initially for this month, but I am going to increase the price to $39.99. It seems a little steep but it has taken me well over a month and tons of hours and research to create this ebook. And from the people who have read it, they say it's a gold mine to help companies and individuals market themselves better online.

Hopefully by the end of this weekend, I'll be ready to present my ebook to the world. I am also working on the official website for it, but as you know building a website takes time and effort.

Update #2 on my Ebook

I have been busy travelling this summer so I haven't gotten to write and work on my ebook as much as I've wanted to. But I am impressed with what I have already. It's 30 pages of jam-packed info that people are going to want to know.

When you are ready to write an ebook, it really is a time-consuming process. I want to create a great book that people will enjoy and come back for more, so I really want to make sure I have quality and quantity there. Plus when I am ready to sell it, I want to make sure that it is a decent price and not outrageous.

I have been looking around to see what other people charge for ebooks, and it's anywhere from $5 - $250.00 which is a little ridiculous. And some people charge $9.95 for a 5 page ebook. To me that seems a little greedy, but hey to each his own.

Hopefully I will be ready to launch my ebook after the long weekend. So I have my fingers crossed that all will go well.

But I just wanted everyone to know that writing is quite fun and enjoyable. I thought writing an ebook would seem daunting and scary, but really it's not that difficult. Plus my ebook will interest everyone who uses the web.

Well that's all I'm going to tell you. Hopefully next week I'll be able to launch. But if not, I'll have another update.

Update on my Ebook

I promised I would update you after the weekend. Sorry I was busy yesterday with work.

That's right I still work my day job as an accountant. But soon I will have financial freedom.

What made me decide to write an ebook? It happened last week, when I was in a business meeting just as an advisor. I was helping to come up with marketing ideas to launch a new website. And the two people I was meeting with were just amazed and astounded by my marketing ideas. I just figured everyone knew these things, but apparently not (one of the businesses I met with, is a HR Consulting Firm, see the link on the side of my blog).

After much reflection I decided it was time I became successful for myself and not someone else. I have been writing since I was a kid, but it's almost like I doubted myself for so long, that I couldn't be successful at writing...it took two business owners to tell me how great I was, before I could really believe it.

I know that life does knock you down a lot, but when you stop believing in yourself you really have lost. It took two professional people for me to see the light, and that yes I do have a lot to offer people.

So after doing some soul-searching, I thought the easiest, non-riskiest way, would be to write an ebook. Low cost, big profits...

This weekend I wrote my heart out. I have twenty great pages of marketing ideas for a company or the individual. This coming weekend I will revise, and hopefully soon it'll be ready to be posted on my blog.

Remember, anyone can write an ebook. Don't wait. You probably know something that you can market and people will want to buy. Ebooks are cheap, effective and a great way to make money online.

I have decided that it is time I try my hand at writing an ebook. An ebook is the best way to go if you are a writer with a wealth of knowledge. Don't feel intimidated, many ebooks that are written are only a few pages and not very detailed, in fact they leave you feeling very dissatisfied, or if you paid money, ripped off.

Well I know I can do better. In fact I am putting an ebook together that I am going to try and sell. That's right you heard correct, I won't be working on a free ebook. It'll be my test one. The one I use to get my name out there. There will be more, I have a ton of ideas on what ebooks I could write. Knowledge that people would pay for. Knowledge that could really help people out.

Ebooks too are easy to produce, in .pdf form and there is virtually no real costs. Ebooks can be produced and written on any computer, it's not like a book where you need a publisher and an editor.

Here's my advice to you, if you know something that people will pay for, and you've looked at the online market, and the demand is there. Go for it. Life is too short for you to sit back and join some affiliate scheme to make money. Grab life by the horns and write your own ebook, you might be surprised at the result. At the very least try it out.

I will write more on my success after this weekend.

Hi I'm back.

I'm feeling better today and I've decided that I should really include more writing resources. So this article is to inform you about the wealth of online websites that give you writing jobs and tips.

The first one is obviously Helium although it does not pay much. I have been on for a week and made a whole 7 cents. Helium is a good way to get your name out there and build up your portfolio.

Next would be, freelancewriting this is a resource as well as a place to look for jobs. Looking at it, it seems to be a pretty good site for jobs.

Next is Writers.ca I like this site because it's geared for Canadian writers plus it gives you tips on how much you should charge.

You should be careful when joining a site that wants you to pay money up front to access jobs. There are plenty of free sites, so make sure it's worth your while. Also any job where you have to bid on jobs, is a no-no too. There is a vast enough market out there that you shouldn't have to bid on jobs like it's an ebay item. If you find yourself doing that, search around the internet.

I could have mentioned the freelanceworkexchange, but to be honest they have never done anything for me. Also don't forget craig's list or other free online classifieds, they have great jobs in there.

Once I know more, I will update my list, but that should be enough to get you started in the world of freelance. Good luck.

Have you ever had your site reviewed, and not liked what the people said? Well that just happened to me. Someone reviewed my site, on Link Referral
and said my site was just a gimmick for pay per post and not for writing. Well to be honest, that hurt my feelings a little.

My website is just a blog of what I have found out and how us writers, can make a living on the web. Sure sometimes it may seem like I am advertising, but really how else am I going to make money? And I'm sure I don't have to tell you how many times I've lost money on "get rich quick schemes" that just don't work. In fact I could create a blog on just the people who riped me off. But again, I don't want to be mean and besides, "freedom of expression."

I just want you to know that this isn't a "get rich website." More it's about me battling through all the junk out there and helping you find ways to succeed and be writing online for money.

It's easy to write for free. In fact lots of places want to bind you in contract with deadlines to write for free. The hard part is making money, and really that is what I'm trying to do. And anything that I learn, I pass on to you, etc, etc. I'm sorry if some people think it's a gimmick, but really I am just sharing with you, what has worked for me.
