Starbucks In The City Of Decatur (Overall Rating is an B-)

This is not your standard Starbucks. This is the Starbucks in the city of Decatur. It's a walking destination for the surrounding areas like Oakhurst. This Starbucks is definitely a meeting destinatino.

The baristas are always friendly if the crowds aren't two big. The machines are always well maintained but I am not a fan of Starbucks instant espresso makers.The interior is always clean and very accessible.

Sometimes they have musicians play inside the shop. Nice touch without it taking over the cofeeshop

This location attracts all types and is busiest in the morning and around lunch.If you can grab a sear outside around lunch you will have limitless people watching.

I hate Starbucks wifi solution, thank goodness the city of Decatur has a wifi connection (membership is required but it works all around the City of Decatur and Oakhurst).

Lattetude (Coffee Shop Rating B+)

I found a great new coffee shop today, called Lattetude. They sell coffee and pastries in the morning, and at night they have beer, wine, and what the server calls "spiked coffees".

I had never been in there before today - my barista was friendly and knowledgable about the new store and told me that Lattetude had been open for about 3 1/2 months. He showed me the dinner menu and their "spiked coffee" menu while he made my latte. He says they have music there sometimes at night too on the weekends.

The interior was very nice, pretty modern with big beams and stuff. They had a white board where you wait for your coffee that read "Lattetude cares what you think - Question of the day". Today's question was "What do you think of the 2008 campaign" and about 6 people had written thier thoughts. I thought this was pretty neat to look at while I waited on my coffee.

They seem to have an very easy going atmostphere, and this seems to be a good palce to hang out and drink coffee while lounging on one of thier any coffees.

Gathering Grounds (Coffee Shop Rating B+)

The Gathering Grounds is a great little coffee shop in the Kirkwood neighborhood located in Atlanta, Georgia. I always want to call this coffee shop Common Grounds for some strange reason, but thats just my dyslexia working in overdrive again. Anyways they have a unique blend of beans they use for an expresso mix which can be great on days. Gathering Grounds also provides flavoring but I would suggest you try your cup of coffee without it.

The great thing about Gathering Grounds is the wonderful people who run this coffee shop nestled in the heart of Kirkwood. The owners are their most mornings and really care about their customers and getting the cup of coffee right. Sometimes they can get busy and customers can get lost in the line but they have gotten much better at handling the large morning flows. The other barristers that work there also take a lot of pride in their cups of specialty coffees.

The coffee shop is medium n size and has stylish couches and tables to accommodate the laptop warriors. Gathering Grounds seems to cater too a more transient coffee buyer experience from what I have noticed. They have a small computer set up for internet access and provide wifi for the patrons at no cost.

Java Monkey (Coffee Shop Rating : A)

Java Monkey is hands down one of the best coffee shop in Decatur. Their motto is" Javamonkey - the Decatur Caffeinator since 1993". Java Monkey is located on East Ponce De Leon Avenue - right off the city square of Decatur, Georgia. Java Monkey's proximity to the Decatur Marta station makes it a great place to check out if your wanting to have low carbon adventure day.

The way that Java Monkey is arranged flows well. You come into a narrow area that loops left around to the order area and then you see the bar and robust patio after another left turn. It is a perfect blend of patio and indoor environment. The only low point is that it can get filled with loud and unhappy children at times but you can escape to the bar area or the patio (which Java Monkey is working on enclosing). Java Monkey is less than a 10 blocks from Agnes Scott University so the single scene is not as sparse as some of the other coffee shops in Decatur.

- Wifi and the city of Decatur has wifi that you can access for a small fee

- The coffee making equipment is new and well maintained
