Soft as a baby's bum ...

Anyone that knows me, knows that I am always in search of a lotion that makes my skin feel fantastic. I have many tubes and bottles of all kinds cluttering up my bathroom cabinets. This is my latest purchase in the quest of baby soft skin and I am in LOVE with it! It's not the least bit greasy, has an awesome scent, and instantly makes your skin feel wonderful! Has anyone else out there tried this? What do you think?

Today: Well, I've already been up and out ...I had to clear about 3" of snow off my car and move it so they could plow the lot. While I was out I filled my gas tank and made a Dunkin Donuts run for my iced coffee. Now I think I'll head back to bed with my fur-babies for a bit ....ummm, maybe AFTER I play a little Word Whomp!

The First Step

My name is Coffee Slut and I am addicted to Word Whomp. There, I've admitted to my newest addiction. I grab a fresh cup of coffee, sit down to blog, and somehow end up on Pogo games. " Just one game", I tell myself ...then it's "3 winning in a row" ....before I know it, half the day is gone. During intermissions ( I refuse to pay for membership!) I read other blogs. What's wrong with me?!! Anyone else out there spend too much time playing games online?

Anyway, here I am ...5:45 am ...taking a break from my beloved game ...trying to post something worth reading.

I've been on staycation this week. I've done some shopping, tons of cleaning, cooked many meals for J-Bob and other guests, and done loads of relaxing. I really needed it after the holiday retail stress. This is my first year to have THREE weeks vacation time, so I felt it necessary to blow one of them in January. It feels good. No firm plans for the rest of the week. Two storms are in the forecast, nothing really major, but slippery roads do effect any plans I make. My new car is fantastic in the snow, but I still don't enjoy driving on bad roads.

Today ...I was asked to go in to work to talk with a couple people ...I assume it's about my accident in December 2010. You know, the time I fell at work, breaking my foot in 2 places and my ankle, and slashing my finger bad enough for 9 stitches. I hope they are paying me for my time ...after all, I am on vacation! No clue why they need to talk with me ..I'm sure they'll be interested to know that I will NEVER walk normally and will carry this hideous scar on my finger until I die! Ok, that's a bit dramatic, but you understand.

No other plans for the day ....so far. I feel an afternoon nap will be in order, especially after getting up so early! I'm also going to TRY to stay away from Word Whomp ...wish me luck!

Dear Dogs and Cats:
The dishes with the paw prints are yours and contain your food. The other dishes are mine and contain my food. Placing a paw print in the middle of my plate and food does not stake a claim for it becoming your food and dish, nor do I find that aesthetically pleasing in the slightest.
The stairway was not designed by NASCAR and is not a racetrack Racing me to the bottom is not the object. Tripping me doesn't help because I fall faster than you can run.
I cannot buy anything bigger than a king sized bed. I am very sorry about this. Do not think I will continue sleeping on the couch to ensure your comfort, however, dogs and cats can actually curl up in a ball when they sleep. It is not necessary to sleep perpendicular to each other, stretched out to the fullest extent possible. I also know that sticking tails straight out and having tongues hanging out on the other end to maximize space is nothing but sarcasm.
For the last time, there is no secret exit from the bathroom! If, by some miracle, I beat you there and manage to get the door shut, it is not necessary to claw, whine, meow, try to turn the knob or get your paw under the edge in an attempt to open the door. I must exit through the same door I entered. Also, I have been using the bathroom for years--canine/feline attendance is not required.
The proper order for kissing is: Kiss me first, then go smell the other dog or cat's butt. I cannot stress this enough.
Finally, in fairness, dear pets, I have posted the following message on the front door:
TO ALL NON-PET OWNERS WHO VISIT AND LIKE TO COMPLAIN ABOUT OUR PETS:
(1) They live here. You don't.
(2) If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. That's why they call it 'fur'-niture.
(3) I like my pets a lot better than I like most people.
(4) To you, they are animals. To me, they are adopted sons/daughters who are short, hairy, walk on all fours and don't speak clearly.

Remember, dogs and cats are better than kids because they:
(1) eat less,
(2) don't ask for money all the time,
(3) are easier to train,
(4) normally come when called,
(5) never ask to drive the car,
(6) don't smoke or drink,
(7) don't want to wear your clothes,
(8) don't have to buy the latest fashions,
(9) don't need a gazillion dollars for college and
(10) if they get pregnant you can sell their children...

So, I seriously suck as a blogger. I'm sorry. When I'm not at my computer I can think of hundreds of things to blog about. As soon as I sit down *poof* my brain is empty.
Anyway, I'm having an "empty brain" moment so ...here is a list of things that I am currently loving!

* My 6 mile commute to work. Yes, just SIX miles. I am home in minutes and the traffic is never an issue.
* My new (to me) car. I do miss my Taurus BUT this Fusion is incredible! It's all white and shiny and has a moon roof, a spoiler, and SiriusXM. LOVE it!
* My apartment. It's a townhouse style, in the center of town, above a dentist office and an insurance company and I absolutely LOVE everything about it! I have a kitchen, living room, bathroom and laundry area on the first floor, and 2 bedrooms on the second floor. The building has been around for a while, so it has loads of character ...

My fur-babies and I are very happy here!

That is a radiator cover ...yes, I have the old fashioned radiators and I absolutely LOVE them! It's also nice that I don't pay for heat or hot water.

* Dove peppermint bark candies. Omg ...they are to die for. Good thing the holidays are over and my store is out of them!

* Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. I am so addicted to that show. Even if it's a re-run I still watch ...it's like a train wreck.

Well, that's all I can think of at the moment, even though I'm sure there's much more I'm currently loving.

Time to put my feet up and relax.

Christmas Recap

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! Mine was fantastic! J-Bob came for a huge breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, toast and crispy crowns . Don't laugh, they are awesome with breakfast ...I sprinkle a little onion powder on them, and then bake. Yummy!
J-Bob spoiled me with gifts of a new printer, a dustbuster and a beautiful angel votive holder. Of coarse Santa was good to J-Bob ....he received tons of socks, boxers, pants for work, dvd's, gift cards, and a new Ipod. The cats each had a stocking filled with toys and some lovely catnip. I'm surprised my tree is still standing after the way they tore around here high on the catnip!
Later in the morning, MSMF and I took a drive to visit my oldest brother and his family, where we had lots of laughs and a nice time reminiscing.
All in all, a wonderful day!

I worked yesterday (time and a half ...yay!) and now have today off. The only plans I have for the day are to go with J-Bob to pick out his birthday present. He turns 23 on Thursday, and both of us have to work 7am - 9pm, so he'll get his gift today. We'll probably enjoy lunch out as well. I can't believe he is almost the age his father was when we met. Where does the time go?

Oh, I also need to tidy up around here and take some photos so you can see my lovely new home. In my 50 years of life, this is the first time I have lived alone (well, except for the fur-babies) and I am loving it!

Time for a shower and a Dunkin Donuts run ...I am in great need of an iced coffee!

I found my camera! Yes MSMF, you were RIGHT ...I prayed to Saint Anthony and it was in the first place I looked. My junk drawer. Even though I had looked there TWICE before.

Anyway, now I'll be able to post photos of Christmas morning in my new home!

Yay! I have one or two more gifts to pick up, then I will be DONE! So it looks like most of my Christmas Eve day will be filled with baking cookies, and assembling a meat platter for J-Bob's Christmas party. I wasn't invited to the party ...it's all my ex in-laws, but that's ok, I see enough of them when they shop in my store!

I'm feeling better, but still suffer from vertigo every now and then. Nothing severe, just annoying. My body seems to want nothing but SLEEP, so I'm trying to get as much as I can. I don't have to go in to work tomorrow until 11am, so I should get plenty tonight!

I still haven't found my camera ...I'll hunt some more in the morning.

Ugh ....Not enough time!

Yesterday was my day off. I had planned to finish up my Christmas shopping. Instead I made a quick trip to my Dr. cause I have been feeling dizzy and not quite right since last Tuesday. It turns out I have an inner ear infection in BOTH ears. Nice. I spent the rest of the day lounging on the couch watching t.v. and dozing. So, I got absolutely no shopping done. My next day off is Christmas Eve. I'll be one of the lunatics running around the mall at the last minute. Hopefully I'll be feeling better!

My camera is somewhere in one of the 50 boxes I still haven't unpacked. As soon as I locate it, I'll take some photos of my new home. My new home that's bursting with character and actually has a living room! Ahhhhh ....bliss!

Time to get ready for work. Thank goodness my head feels less fuzzy after 3 doses of amoxicillan or I'd be in serious trouble!

Omg ...I am FINALLY back!
Some things have changed in the last few months ...new home, new car ( a Ford Fusion, which I absolutely LOVE), new computer (yay! it's about time!), and just plain new life.
But I'm still me ...Coffee Slut. I still drink way too much coffee and still work too much ....but, I am healthy and happy and I am back!!!

I've missed the blogsphere and am looking forward to spending most of today catching up on all I've missed.

In 3 days it will be my FIVE YEAR BLOGOVERSARY! Wow. Time sure flies when you're having fun! In those five years I have discovered loads of wonderful blogs and have made many friends. A huge THANK YOU to all of you who read and comment ...you guys rock!

My life has taken a new turn, and for a while my posts will probably be even fewer than they have been lately. No worries ...it's all good!
