The social space is officially big business, and with that comes a harder push for monetization and regulation. Where will all of this take us, what is the future of social media?

Nobody can really make that prediction. Did you honestly think back in 2006 that adult professionals would be talking about how tweeting, liking and pinning might be able to increase revenue for a company?

To  have a little fun and spark some conversation, I wanted to share this video with you.

The one question from this video that stood out to me was if Facebook is really worth as much as McDonald’s? What I learned some time ago was that the McDonald’s fortune is not really in their product or service, but more in the real estate they own.

That said, what is more valuable than information? Sites like Google and Facebook arguably have more targeted info on people than anyone, even the government!

Let’s kick off the weekend with a little fun! Check out the musical short Digitals created by filmmaker/actor Chris Crutchfield.

He was inspired after receiving an email, SMS, phone call, Facebook message and two tweets in a five second timeframe. Chris said “This video is a re-manifestation of my brain’s interpretation of that event.”

The song Live and Let Die gets stuck in my head every time I start up my Macbook Pro, the Guns & Roses version. I wonder if it really is the same note or if I just have issues?

This video is another way to show how social media and blogging has changed everything. We are in a time when actors, filmmakers, job hunters, college students, companies, entrepreneurs, anybody can share their skills and message to create a conversation. This is a fantastic way to get in front of others who might be able to help you move forward and achieve your goals.

Check out this great infographic covering the cost of a bad hire, and tips on how to avoid making this huge financial mistake.

• 41% of companies said that a bad hire cost them at least $25K!
• 25% of companies said that a bad hire cost them at least $50k!

The good news is that this is somewhat preventable. While the hiring practice may never be perfect, there are ways to increase your odds of finding that right fit.

There has been one small thing that has really been bugging me though, and that is the little annoying ticker to the right of the stream. Apparently I am not the only one who has this feeling, as Facebook has now provided a way for us to hide this feature.

Looks at the top right of the ticker as show in the photo below and simply click the arrow.

I’m not sure if this is available to everyone yet, as facebook still seems to be doing some tweaks. If you don’t see it there, be on the lookout and hopefully you will have it soon.
