Meet the new page: Election 2020

The menu at the top has a new page called Election 2020. It contains fundamental resource material for voters who wish to inform themselves, instead of letting the main-stream media do it for them. I was inspired to create the page because of the deplorable shade cast upon the new crop of Democratic Candidates last night on PBS News Hour:

This demonstrates how much disdain the Establishment has on the more progressive-leaning Democrats who are becoming increasingly popular as more and more labor value is stolen from the working class in the form of corporate profits.

Somewhere there must be a record of what inspired health, safety and environmental regulations, because in the U.S. legislation is reactive, not proactive. To see what conditions were like before Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal, you only need to see the photos dating from the Great Depression all the way back through Jacob Riis to the Gilded Age.

If it's a quick startup coffee shop you want or you only need one cup a day, The best is anything with a stainless steel insulated decanter or airpot.

They don't require burners and the pots can keep liquids hot for several hours.

Where I worked we had one of those standard pots that everyone kept forgetting to turn off at closing time, so on many mornings there was a burning mess in the pot.

Besides the energy efficiency and safety of not having a heating coil under the pot, Coffeemakersusa.com has a good argument for switching to an Airpot coffee maker.

After that I also switched from regular coffee mugs to plastic air-insulated cups.

The grinder part is removable simply with a twist. I always set it to it's highest setting for the finest grind just the way I like it. Here are some sources:

I neglected this blog for a long time. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it because I thought 'Coffee Coup' was kind of clever, but it turns out that coffee producing countries are prime targets of some industrial force working behind the the U.S. government.

Desperate Situation

I injured my knee recently so getting around is next to impossible. Worst of all, I'm down to one more pot of coffee before I am out, and there is a Pacific storm on its way here. I can have food delivered, but coffee? A little searching and Voila! Coffee Clubs!

The Bean City Coffee Company is just five miles away from my location, unfortunately they only deliver in a two mile radius. I did a Google Map search for "Coffee Delivery"

Figuring I would probably run out sooner, I finally limped down the steps of my apartment building, limped to my car, drove to the Safeway grocery store on 15th Ave NE in Shoreline, WA (why the full address? Wait for it.), I then limp-shopped using a grocery cart as a walker, ground some coffee, limped through the checkout, limped to my car, drive home, limped up the stairs to my apartment, limped in the door, unpacked my groceries, no coffee. The clerk picked up from the first conveyor belt, scanned it, but instead of putting it on the second conveyor, set the coffee aside. The bagger didn't notice it. I didn't either until I got home. So I had to repeat my limps all the way back to the store.

My coffee maker sounds a little strange

I have a Black & Decker 8 cup coffee maker I bought at Fred Meyer which is fine, if not a little noisy as most coffee makers are in the morning, except one morning I was listening to the radio with ear buds and I could swear I heard someone rummaging around in the kitchen, Just the coffee maker.

I paid Six dollars for a 32 ounce can of coffee. I pay $1.75 each morning for a 20 ounce cup of coffee at the gas station on the way to work every morning. The can of coffee I have at home, I calculated, is worth about fifty dollars in coffee sales. Minus the cost of buying the coffee, plus disposable cups, sweetner and creamer, I will save at least $40
