Happy 18th Blogversary

2026-08-31T16:14:31.206-07:00

Coffee From Martha's Bakery

Coffee From Twin Valley Coffee

I'm not going anywhere; I just wanted to share that with all of you (LOL). Life is busy as always, and I really appreciate you being here through it all. Happy Blogversary, guys, to both blogs. I can't believe I'm leaving my 30s behind—do I really look like I'll be turning 40 soon? AHAHAHA! Someone even told me today, "You have your math wrong. You're still 30." I'll take that as a compliment!

Here's a little update as I head to the Shady Maple Smorgasbord. I’m excited to share some upcoming projects I have planned:

1. **Mobile Library:** More details will be available soon. I can't wait to see how this turns out! Since I already work in this field part-time, it makes sense to sell books too.

2. **New Season of My Podcast:** If you haven't caught up yet, now is the perfect time! I'm currently working on it.

3. **My Webtoon:** This is a work in progress—right now, it focuses more on the art than anything else.

Stay tuned for more information on these projects in an upcoming post.

Much love, and here’s to 18 wonderful years!

Earth Day 2026

2026-04-22T15:31:35.788-07:00

It's my favorite day! I am a fellow 4-H member, and back when I was in 4th grade (a long time ago in the 90s), I learned about global warming. I've been obsessed with it ever since. My mood board reflects how I feel about our planet this Earth Day. Here are three links that will help you and all of us learn something new today.

Earth Day 2025

Photo by PROJETO CAFÉ GATO-MOURISCO on Unsplash

Hey everyone! As you know, I love to share all things Earth Day. This year, I will be highlighting companies (mostly B Corps) that offer ways to help you be more mindful of your coffee waste. I’ll list a few here, but I encourage you to do your own research as well. The more we learn, the more informed we can become about the little things that have a big impact on our environment and our lives.

First up is Nespresso make sure to use their recyclable bags ( you can get them free with every order or in store) and their Bin.

Cafemam -When it comes to tracing and coffee production, no one is doing it better! Their commitment to excellence is evident in every step of the process.

Blue Bottle- They have a roadmap to Sustainability

Counter Coffee- Has a very traceable seed-to-cup.

Blk & Bold- A black owned brand that is not only a B corp but also gives back to the community.

Stumptown Coffee- Another well-known company that gives you a look at their sources.

Until next post stay caffeinated

Finally A COFFEE LIST!!!!!!!!!

I DID IT!!!!!

Hey everyone, I’ve created a coffee list and it’s now live! I will update it when I can, so stay tuned. If you have any suggestions, feel free to comment, and I’ll be sure to add them. I based the list on what came to mind first.

Until my next post on Earth Day, stay caffeinated!

Blend: Panama Caturra

Notes: "Medium Chocolate Notes" As stated on their website (see reference at the bottom of the page)

And we are back! Haha! I've been sick and recovering from surgery, and I hope you didn't miss me too much. I'm excited to share a lovely find with you — and I'm typing this on the same day I went, which is quite an achievement for me!

So, I was headed to the UPS Store when I noticed a coffee shop nearby, not just any coffee shop, but one serving Panamanian coffee! I had to check it out, and I'm so glad I did. The wonderful person who took my order made me the perfect strong and sweet cold brew, and we also had a great conversation.

As a New York native, it's refreshing to see people from their respective cities take pride in their work, open businesses, and stay true to themselves. Thank you for the conversation; I will definitely be back. This location is now on my list of favorite coffee spots!

Oh, and did I mention that they have a Geisha blend? It's more tea-like and not as dense as the usual espresso blends. I was able to taste it, and I am absolutely smitten! I was also told that it's best to prepare it using the pour-over method. I will definitely return for it and put my new skills to the test!

Stay Caffinated .....

Coffee Ed: Milk Frother recommendations

2024-12-18T06:00:00.001-07:00

You need a milk frother if you have a home coffee bar. There are so many, from handheld to automatic ones. I am sharing with you what it does and some recommendations.

Testing my milk frother.

What is a milk frother?

Simply put, it's a utensil or appliance that uses microbubbles to introduce air into milk to form a foamy consistency. You can use any type of milk( coffee creamer works also ) There are handheld versions and automatic ones, ( connected to a coffee machine) or automatic ones. ( Nespresso, 2024)

Can you use it with cold coffee?

Yes! Cold Cream being froth is amazing to pour over your iced drink.

My Recommendations

Nespresso Aerocciono4 - Easy to use for an at-home barista, dishwasher safe ( though I'd hand wash it) quick froth, can be used for cold or hot milk. ( has a 2 yr warranty)

Budget Pick: ( Ikea handheld milk frother) It works! It takes a while because of its size, so it's all for small espresso-based drinks. It mixes matcha well too!

Budget with a Coffee machine attached -( Keiurg Latte maker) - Frother works well with cold or hot milk. Takes a bit long with plant-based milks but it will work. You just press the button and it will stop when it's done.

Great hand-held pick from Amazon -Faster than the Ikea one and still under $20

Frother jug -A must-have with a hand-held frother

Ultimately, it all comes down to how creamy and frothy you prefer your milk. I believe that the best frother should be able to work with different types of milk, especially if it is not handheld. Many frothers I've tested struggle with thinner almond milk, requiring me to use them for a longer period. With handheld frothers, you will need to hold and whip for an extended time due to the milk's consistency.

Until next time......

Drink caffeinated.....or decaffeinated I won't judge.....

Coffee Finds: Lil Cow Coffee

2024-10-23T04:00:00.002-07:00

Hello to a new coffee find!

Lil Cow Bistro

I love discovering coffee shops in unexpected places. If you head to the beginning of Burke on the Springfield, VA side, you'll find a charming little shop called Lil Cow Coffee Bistro. The staff there is very friendly, and you can even place your order online.

I could tell they were a bit surprised when I asked for my cortado to be iced. I just prefer cold drinks, although I do enjoy them hot on occasion. Here are a few things you should know about them:

- They serve Le Colombe coffee, which happens to be a favorite of mine.

- They open at 9 AM, a bit later than some other places.

- They offer food, including pastries until about 11 AM, or earlier on some days, after which you can order other food items.

- The shop is located at the edge of Springfield and Burke, VA.

Overall Verdict: Take a ride, go to Lidi while you are there (PetSmart if you have a pet), and have a quaint conversation at a small shop off a busy road.

Just today I ordered online and parked the car to wait, and they brought the coffee to me. Thanks, guys!! I think I not only look different but order differently than everyone who comes there so they learned my name quick lol.

Drinks to get:

- Frappe

- Iced or hot cortado

- Iced or hot coffee (Red Eye or Americano are my favorites)

Food:

- Try the pastries. I had a breakfast burger sandwich, and it was amazing.

Until next post (its a coffee ed post) stay caffinated

National Cold Brew Day / Earth Day

2024-04-20T07:45:00.006-07:00

I had to give you guys some suggestions on assessable cold brews ( if you don't like making it yourself). I take mine a step further, and I freeze my cold brew. Then I have more concentrated cubes, and I add milk instead of water. You can if you want, but getting through the day is a must. I do this with the ones I make and also store-bought ones. Tell me, what's your favorite cold brew supplier or shop?

It's also Earth Day, the 22nd! So these are two in one; here are some.

Sustainable Companies

Stok Coffee

Nespresso

Stumptown Coffee

Look at more Fairtrade ( not two words that's different) coffees

You can also look for biodegradable Kpods and such.

Cafe Mam

Nguyen Coffee

Blue Bottle Coffee

Caffeinated Finds : Common Wealth Joe

2024-04-18T14:26:00.001-07:00

Hey, I am back with a new place.

Iced Quad Americano
Location: Pentagon City, Va
Shop: Commonwealth Joe

Verdict: You must try their take-home gallon lattes and cold brews! They are amazing, and the staff is nice. Very nice location in the heart of Pentagon Row. You can shop online, so have some shipped to you. I love their Golden Horseshoe Espresso ( think choco but nutty; it is bold but very smooth and light drinking, believe it or not) and the Blue Ridge roast. Have a taste and let me know your favorite drink(s) from them.

Why did I have to dig up a photo that I took of a flat white years ago? lol, This is to you, the flat white that is a far but close cousin of the latte and cappuccino and so on. I will be discussing the differences between the three in a later post. Until then, here are some articles on the flat white below.

Happy Earth Day

Though it's every day, and we all have things to be mindful of every day, I wanted to share some things I use to be more cognizant of things happening in our environment. I remember when I was in 4th grade, and I was told about Global Warming. I knew I had to do what I could while I was here to be mindful of how I treated the place I lived in. There's only one, and God knows I appreciate all of his creation around me. Let's look at some items I use to continue to do my part to help the earth thrive.
