The driver of the car escaped, but the passenger was trapped, with two broken legs, broken collar bone, lacerations and more. The car was on fire and he was trapped. The first responders were a pair of rookies in a brush truck. They grabbed a 2.5 gallon extinguisher that had Cold Fire in it. By now, the flames were in the passenger compartment, burning the seat he was on, the dash, the headliner, and flames were roaring out of the car. He sprayed the victim with the Cold Fire, then went back to the truck to hook up his hose, which took 8 minutes. They finally got the fire out, and use d the ‘jaws of life’ to extricate him. But because the firefighter thought to spray the victim with Cold Fire, the only burns he suffered was a small first degree burn on his arm
RDR Technologies

Most fire departments have the ability to bill insurance companies for time, materials, wear and tear when they are called out on a run. It's a tremendous way for a cash-strapped department to add an additional revenue stream without raising taxes on the community.

Q: How does it work?

After a run, the department fills out a one-page form with insurance contacts and a list of expenses they are looking to offset, then faxes it to the billing company. The billing company fills in the proper forms, submits it to to the insurance company for payment, then follows up.

Q: What does it cost?

A: NO upfront fees to the department. The billing company collects the money from the insurer, then cuts a check to the department, minus a small processing fee.

Q: Doesn't it raise the property owner's insurance rates?

A: No. The fire does that. The payouts to the fire department have nothing to do with future rate increases.

Q: How much can we expect to collect?

A: Anywhere from several hundred dollars per incident to tens of thousands of dollars.

Q: So how do we get free Cold Fire?

A: When you include Cold Fire as an expense, say $100, and you get that money reimbursed to you, turn around and replace it. Free Cold Fire!

To find out more, call RDR Technologies at 405-702-0055.

RDR Technologies
