Unfortunately this is a tethered jailbreak you will have to connect your iPhone, iPod or iPad to your computer when the device reboots due to low battery or other factors. No worries, I’m sure iPhone Dev Team is working on iOS to release its untethered jailbreak version. Now, first of all I have to remind you all iOS device holders that this redsn0w jailbreak works on iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 CDMA & GSM, iPod touch 3rd & 4th gen, and iPad 1 which means that redsn0w can be runned on devices with A4 processors. If you have iPhone 4S or iPad 2, devices with A5 processors, this ios 5 jailbreak wor’t work, so don’t waste your time trying to install iOS 5 jailbreak on these Apple devices and wait until holy iPhone Dev Team solves the puzzle of A5 processors. Just before we begin, I want to remind you that you must have the latest

Jailbreak iOS 5

Open redsn0w and click “Jailbreak” button
Connect the device that you want to jailbreak, and switch it off
Now enter DFU Mode, if you don’t know how to enter DFU Mode heres a quick guide: hold down sleep button and home button simultaneously for 10 seconds and then release power button but keep holding on home button for 15-20 seconds till you get a notification from redsn0w. It will say that the device is about to enter the DFU Mode.
If you have older version of redsn0w then point iOS 5 IPSW file to redsn0w
If you have newer version of redsn0w then it will download and jailbreak ios 5 automatically
Click “Install Cyndia” and continue jailbreaking your Apple device with ios 5

Now boot your device to get Cyndia to load. After your device is booted, open redsn0w again and select iOS 5 IPSW file previously downloaded under “Extras” tab. As a final step, go back to “Extras” menu, select “Just Boot” option and complete ios 5 jailbreak with on screen instructions. When your iOS 5 device reboots, it is jailbroken!

Millions of Facebook addicts worldwide worry that someday soon they'll have to pay to use the site. Well It's not true!

Why? - Because Facebook makes its money bringing together as big of an audience as possible and then selling that audience's attention to advertisers. It's a business that works for them.

According to the article that I read on CNN
If you go to Facebook.com and search for the terms "Facebook free" or "Facebook charge," you'll find hundreds of groups with names like, "If 1 Million People Join Before 9th July 2010 Facebook Will Stay Free!" or "If Facebook Charges A Fee We Will Discontinue Using It." Some of these groups have dozens of users, others have thousands.

During a recent press conference, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said while Facebook users do care about privacy, the question of whether or not Facebook will eventually charge for its service is actually a much bigger concern among the site's 500 million users.

But are these fears justified?

No! Facebook will never charge you to be a member and use the site.
Don't take it from me. Here's Facebook spokesman Larry Yu on the issue:
"We have absolutely no plans to charge for the basic service of using Facebook."

He continues : "Last year we saw a similar rumor circulating that Facebook was going to begin charging $1.99 to use the site, but this year we're hearing that fee increased to $14.99 with the spread of this rumor. We look forward to hearing what Facebook might be rumored to cost for use next year."

If you press Facebook employees on this, they will tell you the reason they will never charge for access is that putting up a paywall runs counter to the company's mission to make the world more open and connected.

But even if you don't buy that idealistic hoopla, you should understand Facebook has a deep profit motive to never charge you for access.

So while Facebook may charge you for certain bonus features, such as gifts for your friends, or credits to play games like Farmville, it will never charge for basic access to the site.

Why then do people worry Facebook might start charging soon? Probably because Facebook users feel like they're getting something valuable for free, and everybody knows there's no such thing as a free lunch.

Just remember: The fact that you keep coming back to Facebook makes it easier for Facebook to sell more ads -- and make more money.

Google, Intel engage in tag-team tech play

SAN FRANCISCO—A Windows PC desktop powered by a solar cell the size of a postage stamp, several devices that share display contents such as video, photo and notifications seamlessly, a communication tablet that may replace your traditional phone in theoffice, and Google’s Android OS finally getting into Intel’s space—these are what’s in store for consumers, Intel said during the Intel Developer Forum here.

Over the past several years, Intel has been expanding into the mobile devices space, which is growing more rapidly than personal computers.

Intel’s partnership with Google, whose Android is now the most widely used mobile operating system, is expected to accelerate the Santa Clara-based chipmaker’s stalled presence in the smartphone and tablet space.

Intel president and CEO Paul Otellini said smartphones powered by Intel’s Atom chips and running on Android OS would be available in the first half of next year.

The two tech titans will work together to optimize future versions of Android for Intel’s family of low-powerAtom processors. This means that future versions of the Android platform will support Intel technology, in addition to other architectures.

“Combining Android with Intel’s low power smartphone roadmap opens up more opportunity for innovation and choice,” said Andy Rubin, senior vice president at Mobile at Google. “This collaboration will drive the Android ecosystem forward.”

According to Otellini, “by optimizing the Android platform for Intel architecture, we bring a powerful new capability to the market that will accelerate more industry adoption and choice.”

Intel’s demo of a desktop powered by a postage-sized solar cell reaffirms the company’s effort to reduce not only the size of microprocessors but also its power consumption.

Intel’s processor roadmap has now gone into the 22 nm microarchitecture technology with the introduction of thin notebooks called “Ultrabooks.”

The devices are ultrathin powerful notebooks capable of all-day computing with a single battery charge. The Ultrabook also offers 10 days of connected standby battery life.

The device is powered by Intel’s next-generation microprocessor called “Haswell” and it will hit the shelves next year.

Otellini said the Haswell project is a result of the company’s obsession with power reduction.

He predicted the microprocessor platform power innovation will reach levels that are difficult to imagine today.

Health is wealth and I do believe on this. Health is more important than your money, If you're not healthy, if you're getting sick all the time, all your riches doesn't matter.

I got sick and admitted at the hospital last Saturday and discharge yesterday because of Acute Gastroenteritis infectious in etiology. Whew! thanks God it didn't get worse.

Yesterday when I was about to leave the hospital, the nurse gave us the hospital bill. Our bill went up to 11 thousand plus, inlcuding the professional fee of the Doctor. I was thinking that time if I don't have a Philhealth, I will pay eleven thousand pesoses!. Luckily I have a Philhealth it lessen the total bill!.

I thought my bill ends there, but the Doctor gave me a prescription medicine . *Sigh, I have to by those medicine in order for me to fully recover.

Here's my follow up medicine for five days. I also research of its meaning through wikipedia.

Ciprofloxacin

Ciprofloxacin - is used to treat a number of infections including: infections of bones and joints, endocarditis, gastroenteritis, malignant otitis externa, respiratory tract infections, cellulitis, urinary tract infections, prostatitis, anthrax, chancroid, among others.

Appebon [Vitamin B-Complex + Iron Buclizine Hydrochloride]

¤Appebon - I heard that Appebon vitamins is use on gaining extra pounds?., I don't know why the Doctor game this medicine, I'm not underweight naman!.

¤Buclizine Hydrochloride - is actually an antihistamine. It is of synthetic origin, belonging to Piperazine. Buclizine is mainly used for anti-emetic action, particularly in prevention of motion sickness. It is also used in combination with analgesics to treat migraine attacks. As an appetite stimulant, it is compared to cyproheptadine- an appetite stimulant banned in UK.

Unlike cyproheptadine, buclizine increases both appetite and absorption of food in the body. It doesn’t affect the growth hormone levels. Cyproheptadine increases appetite by inhibiting growth hormone. Therefore, cyproheptadine is not good for the growth in children. More to this, buclizine is better than cyproheptadine because it can maintain weight gain even after the discontinuation of treatment.

I don't want to get sick anymore and get admitted. So I have three things in my mind right now Eat right, Be Physically active and drink plenty glasses of water a day.

Eating right

¤I believe on the saying "You are what you eat". The notion that, to be fit and healthy you need to eat good food that is full of nutrients. Remember the lesson you had on your school days?, the GO, GLOW and GROW foods? . You should start to review that.

Physically active

¤Last year I started making a ran twice a month. I also have this basketball game with my officemates once a week. As far as you can imagine, I am physically active last year it keeps my body moving and healthy.

Unfortunately this year, it was a complete turn down for me. The only exercise I did is walking everyday going to office, fingers tap at my computer's keyboard for almost seven months. I convince myself that I was "too busy" but in reality I can make a time for it if I want to. I get physically lazy this year.

Drinking water

¤When I was admitted, most of my wardmates advice is to drink a lots! yeah a lots of water!. Don't you know that 75% of your body is water and 90% of your brain. But doesn't that tell you something? Keep a glass of water handy, there's nothing that can replace it. I used to drink coke more often, but because of what happened to me I begun to train myself drinking 8 -10 glasses a day. Drinking water is so important that you must add this to achieve your goal of a healthy body.

This one point cannot be emphasized enough - if you wait until you are thirsty, you are already dehydrated and this is affecting your cells.

It's been said that your sense of thirst decreases as you get older: it's probably true but not just because you're older.

This only happens if you tend to ignore your body. Your need for water certainly does not decrease.

Water is essential to all the vital functions of your body.

1. Reduces the risk of so many health issues people face, especially cancer: bladder, breast, colon and kidney. And done together with raw foods and cleansing, it's a natural cancer cure.

2. Regular hydration will boost your energy levels

3. It will also boost your immune system and mental sharpness.

4. You need water to speed up recovery from injuries.

5. Cleansing and detoxing absolutely requires water. Don't spend money on colon cleansers or any other detoxing system and then neglect drinking lots of water. You may be doing more harm than good.

6. Last but certainly not least, drinking water instead of liquids that rob your body will enhance sexual performance.

Its not late to change your lifestyle, Don't wait to get sick in order to value your health. Lesson learned from experience. ;)

Day 1 Saturday

Isang hindi inaasahang pangyayari ang naganap sa akin noong sabado July 30, 2011 ng hapon. Ako ay kasalukuyang nag kkompyuter, facebook at twitter ng biglang sumakit ang aking tiyan, dumumi ng paulit ulit at nagsuka.Alas otso ng gabi, Apat na oras kong tiniis ang sakit napapaluha na ako, hangga't hindi ko na kinaya at pumunta na kami ng hospital.

Pagdating namin ng emergency room ay sinuri agad ako ng doktor. Nagtanong kung ano ang nakain ko, ang suspect ko ay ang gravy na nilagay ko sa ref nung huwebes at sabado ko lang siya kinain, pwede rin ung kinain ko nung Friday night sa EAT ALL YOU CAN sa TONGYAN ba un? nilantakan ko kasi seafoods!.. at ayun nga kelangan ako iconfine dahil sa sobrang hinang hina na ako. Kinuhaaan ako ng Blood test at rinig ko na ang platelets ng dugo ko ay bumaba sa 95 nagkaroon din ako ng lagnat at dehyderated din ako.

Night of August 1. Tatlong pasyente nalang kami.

Ang sabi ng doktor ay may early signs daw ako ng dengue fever pero hindi pa nila sigurado hangga't hindi pa lumalabas ang laboratory result kinabakusan. Pinaupo nko sa wheel chair at inakyat sa ward pagdating sa ward room nandun lahat ng mga ka wardmates ko, lahat sila ay dengue fever ang case. so kamusta naman? lalo ako kinabahan na dengue nga case ko kasi sila lahat dengue ang case eh.

Walang Tv sa room, that time hindi ko pa dala cell ko. Naki text lang ako sa ermat ko para itext sila prince at abraham na hindi ako makakasama sa kanila sa enchanted kingdom. Ayaw pa nga maniwala ni abraham dahil nung oras na iyon ay ka text ko pa siya bago sumakit tyan ko. Nagulat ako ng biglang nag text si Ayes sa cell ng Mom ko, tinext pala siya ng erpat ko gamit cell ko.. Well, Di ko expect un ah. Kinamusta niya ako kung ano nangyari sa akin. ;)

Sa sobrang bored ko hiniram ko cell ng Mom ko at nag FB tweet ako!.

Umaga na wala pa rin ang resulta ng laboratory, dumating ang result mga tanghali na. Negative ako sa dengue positive naman ako sa Acute Gastroenteritis infectious in etiology. Ayun muna ang kinorek. Then kinagabighan bumisita si doktora at pansin siya sa akin then pina check ang POTASSIUM ko. Bagsak ang Potassium ko! so dalawa na ang ginagamot sa akin.

That day tinext ko HR/Accounting/TEAM LEADER namin na hindi ako makakapasok at para narin maasikaso ang Philhealth ko. [Sir Jun P., Jonathan J. Mam: Kate, Weng and Ms. Mylen. Thanks!]

Day 3 Monday

Medyo okay na pakiramdam ko, Potassium nalang hindi. Another boring day, I have my cellfone that time na [NOKIA E66 lang] nag register ako sa SUPERSURF. I updated the OVI store and download ng applications! haha. Ang galing kasi nakakapag FB CHAT ako using my phone tapos twitter pa!. So no need to buy a new phone for me kuntento na ako dito!.

Habang umaandar ang oras bawat ka wardmates ko ay nakikilala ko ang kuwento kung bakit sila na confine, hindi naman sa tsismoso ako no! eh iisang room lang kami kaya rinig na rinig. May mga ka wardmate ako na BUMBAY, ung isa naman second life niya na kasi nag agaw buhay dahil sa dengue, ung isa naman call center agent ng e-telecare, at ung isa ay MUSLIM na kung saan saan nangutang para may ipambayad at May mangilan ngilan na dumadalawa ay inaalagaan siya ng JOWA which is napapaisip ako, medyo inggit at nagtatanong sa sarili na bakit wala pa akong girl friend?. Emoness that time.Haha!. Kinagabihan bumisita ang aking pinsan na si Cristine ilang months na din kami di nagkita eh :). Bumisita rin si doktora para saibhin na pwede na akong lumabas! yahoo. Nag thank you ako sa kanya. Dumalaw rin pala ung Pedia doktor ko! haha. If you don't know guys pangatlong beses na akong na confine sa FAIRVIEW GENERAL HOSPITAL!..

Day 4 Tuesday

Dextrose sa kanang kamay! at sa
kaliwa naman tadtad ng blood test!

Malaya na ako! parang nakapiit ako sa selda sa sobrang ka boringan sa hospital, buti nalang may cellfone, at may mga nag kkwentuhan dahil dun lang ako naaaliw habang pinagmamasdan ko sila. Minsan ginagawan ko pa sila ng kwento sa aking pag iisip. haha!. I thank God dahil safe ako! my Mom and Dad for taking care of me my friends!. kahit hindi dengue grabe pa din ung pinagdaanan ko! siguro kung di pa ako nag pa confine mas grabe pa ang nangyari sa akin. Ang dami kong na realize habang nasa hospital ako, nagkaroon ako ng oras para makapag isip isip.

Sa mga nagmalasakit. Nais kong pasalamatan ang mga taong ito.

Install Old Facebook Chat Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox

Finally after a long research, I found a solution on the net that will get rid of the new FB chatbox. But, you better decide first before returning the old chat box because the skype feature will not be visible anymore.

In Google Chrome, its really easy task to install the script to enable the Old facebook chat. Just Click the Following link to install Script.

1.) Download the script here

2.) On the upper right corner of the site you'll see this.

3.) Now the Install Popup will appear, in that box CLICK ‘INSTALL’ and now the Script is Installed.

4.) Now the Script is Installed. Now Close the Existing Facebook page and Open the Facebook again. You can See your Old Favorite Chat is available. If you cant see the old facebook chat, Clear the cache and open the facebook. Anytime you can remove this script from extension menu of the Google chrome to get the New sidebar chat box.

How to Install Old Facebook Chat Script in Mozilla Fire Fox

In Mozilla Firefox, First we need to install Grease Monkey Add-on before installing the Old Facebook Script. So Open the Firefox and go to Download page of the Grease Monkey Add-on from the following link.

1.) Grease monkey download

2.) After clicking ADD TO FIREFOX button, the popup will ask about installation. Click INSTALL and Its done.

4.) After installing Close the Facebook and Open it again to see the Old Facebook chat is available. if you can’t find, Clear the cache files and try again. Anytime you can remove this script from Gease Monkey add-on to get the New sidebar chat box.

EVER wondered how much Lakers star Kobe Bryant, reigning MVP Derrick Rose of the Bulls and Kevin Durant of the Thunder made in their two-game swing recently at the Araneta Coliseum against a selection of PBA stars and Smart-Gilas Pilipinas?

A whopping $400,000 each, according to Sam Amick of SI.com, the official website of the Sports Illustrated magazine, and the story was later picked up by Kelly Dwyer of Yahoo! Sports. That translates to P16,888,000 per player, based on the current exchange rate of P42.22 to the dollar.

That is hardly chump change, especially if ranged against the maximum monthly take-home pay of P350,000 by PBA stars who battled Bryant and Co. last Saturday.

In the SI.Com story, Amick said: "Don’t let this news take you over as some sort of greedy run. The stars spiraled their way toward Manila to play basketball without any sort of insurance, and though the pay isn’t commensurate with the services provided, this was still a well-earned engagement."

The three, along with Chris Paul of New Orleans, Tyreke Evans of Sacramento, James Harden of Oklahoma, JaVale McGee of Washington, Derrick Williams of Minnesota and Derek Fisher of the Lakers, were brought here by the Manny V. Pangilinan Sports Foundation.

Reyes admitted Bryant, a five-time NBA champion with the Lakers, a one-time MVP and two-time Finals MVP, received more than Rose, Durant and the rest.

A source close to the MVP group of companies estimated Bryant must have received no less than $300,000, while Durant and Rose got $250,000 each. The rest, the same source said, received $150,000 to $200,000 each.

Reyes said that while Pangilinan spent a fortune in bringing the stars here, it was worth it since the recent visit set the stage for a series of big projects involving the Foundation and the NBA.

Dwyer said the take-home pay of Bryant and Co. "is a nice tax-free gift that will help stave off the potential debt-collectors should the current NBA lockout cost them a year’s salary. Though the combined millions that were sent the way of the traveling NBA stars no doubt put last weekend’s event in the red, the payoff was apparently worth it for all involved."

Bryant stands to make more than $25 million in the first year of his three-year contract extension with the Lakers while Durant should earn more than $13 million in the first year of his five-year contract extension with the Thunder.

Rose is in the third year of his four-year rookie contract with the Bulls and is set to make $7 million this year, which translates to $85,000 per game.

MANILA, Philippines - Those in the know are tight-lipped as to how much was spent to stage the Ultimate All-Star Weekend but whatever the amount, PLDT chairman Manny Pangilinan figured it was worth bringing smiles to thousands of Filipinos who witnessed two games featuring some of the world’s best basketball players at the Smart Araneta Coliseum and millions who caught the action on TV.

How much did it cost? “Plenty, plenty, plenty,” said Pangilinan after the second sold-out show last Sunday. “I told Polly (PLDT president Napoleon Nazareno) now, we’ve got to earn back what we spent.” It was typical MVP good-natured humor but there had to be some seriousness in his tone just the same.

The scuttlebutt is the budget for the monumental undertaking was anywhere between P100-150 Million. It was rumored that Kobe Bryant’s camp initially asked for an appearance fee of $1.2 Million aside from a private jet fetching him and an entourage of seven in Shanghai and flying him back to keep his promise to his wife and two daughters to be in the Los Angeles airport by Monday morning for a family vacation in Mexico. Bryant reportedly settled for an amount less than half of what was previously asked because of his affection for his Filipino fans.

Topping the event is a challenge for the MVP Sports Foundation. The Ultimate All-Star Weekend had to be the most significant sporting event that the Big Dome has hosted since the Thrilla in Manila in 1975. Pangilinan said what could be bigger would be the showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Pacquiao was at the coliseum for the game last Sunday and Pangilinan broached the idea to the world’s No. 1 pound-for-pound champion. “I mentioned to Manny about the possibility of fighting in Manila,” said Pangilinan. “It seemed okay to him. Now the problem is getting Mayweather to agree. I think arranging the pay-per-view satellite feed wouldn’t be difficult with our telecommunications facilities.”

The Thrilla In Manila was staged late morning in Manila for live beaming to the US on prime time at night. The same set-up could be arranged for a Pacquiao fight.

Pangilinan said another possibility is to bring over the Real Madrid football and basketball teams for a tour. MVP Sports Foundation executive director and Talk ‘N’ Text coach Chot Reyes said the Ultimate All-Star Weekend has put the Philippines on the map as a sports tourism destination. “Dwyane Wade tweeted his buddy Chris Paul and mentioned he would’ve loved to come,” said Reyes. “There was extensive foreign media coverage so the whole world knew about the Ultimate All-Star Weekend. From Manila, Chris flew to Hong Kong and will hook up with Wade and Melo (Anthony) on the Jordan Flight Tour.”

Paul, Wade and Anthony are Jordan brand endorsers. Their four-city China tour officially begins today in Hong Kong and will move to Chengdu, Hangzhou and Beijing up to Aug. 3.

Reyes said top US athletic agents Aaron Goodwin and Rob Pelinka were in town for the games. Goodwin represents Kevin Durant, Jamal Crawford, Candace Parker, Matt Barnes, Nate Robinson, Chris Webber and Gary Payton, among others while Pelinka works with Bryant, Derek Fisher, Derrick Williams and James Harden – all of whom participated in the Ultimate All-Star Weekend. Others in Pelinka’s stable are Corey Maggette, Carlos Boozer, Andre Igoudala, Chris Kaman, Channing Frye, Eric Gordon, Gerald Wallace and Sasha Vujacic. Derrick Rose’s agent B. J. Armstrong, a former NBA sharpshooter, was also in Manila last weekend.

Igoudala was initially considered for the Manila tour. Rose and Durant were late additions to the lineup. They came to terms only after Bryant signed up.

Four of the visitors left Sunday evening – Bryant, Fisher, Rose and Paul. Fisher had to return to the US for talks on a new collective bargaining agreement with the NBA as president of the National Basketball Players Association. Harden, Durant, JaVale McGee and Williams flew out yesterday. Tyreke Evans is scheduled to depart Thursday after a holiday in Boracay.

Chao Chuatico-Espaldon, chief operating officer of the Cincinnati-based investment and financial advisory company East-West Private, joked that she’ll need a vacation after organizing the event on two to three weeks’ notice. “I’m glad no one saw the crazy things that went on behind the scenes,” chuckled Espaldon referring to the logistical nightmare of staging the event involving high-profile athletes. East-West Private negotiated the packages that brought the players to Manila. East-West Private chief executive officer Patty Scott was in town for the games and left Sunday. “A Michael Jordan tour?” said Espaldon. “Yeah, why not?”

SMART-Gilas gives Kobe and co. a good workout

Compared to the PBA selection, the SMART-Gilas Pilipinas national team was expected to be more competitive against Kobe Bryant and his band of basketball superstars. That proved to be true, although the Philippine team still fell short against the SMART All-Stars, 98-89.

The nationals started off very gamely, with forward Japeth Aguilar finishing with a thunderous jam early in the 1st quarter. They would stick close for most of the period, before the NBA players closed off the first quarter with a 6-0 run to break the game wide open, 28-16.

The SMART All-Stars would lead by as much 21 points in the game, as they were able to get into transition often in the 3rd quarter. However, their chase for the highlight plays that the fans asked for proved to be the cause for a small collapse, allowing SMART-Gilas to get as close as eight points, 92-84, with 2:30 to go in the game.

Despite SMART-Gilas coach Rajko Toroman’s assertions that they wanted to win, he waved the proverbial white flag soon after that as he pulled Marcus Douthit from the game in favor of rarely-used Jason Ballesteros in the closing minutes. The naturalized center had energized the team in the fourth quarter with several big plays, including a huge putback dunk off of a missed Marcio Lassiter three-pointer.

The game was considerably chippier than the SMART All-Stars matchup with the PBA selection on Saturday night, with SMART-Gilas committing several hard fouls on their American guests.

NBA scoring champion Kevin Durant, in particular, was introduced to the hard hits of veteran Asi Taulava and looked visibly frustrated for the first time in the two games. Dondon Hontiveros also played Bryant physically in the fourth quarter, although the SMART All-Stars playing coach seemed to take it in stride, flashing a good-natured smile afterwards.

But the game was not without its lighter moments, as the NBA stars obviously wanted to please the crowd. Egged on by the enthusiastic crowd after the ball was stuck between the backboard and the shot clock, JaVale McGee attempted to tip it off himself instead of waiting for the arena staff to poke it off with a stick.

As awestruck as the Filipino fans were of their NBA idols, they went completely bonkers when pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao made his entrance early in the fourth quarter. He would visit the NBA stars during a timeout and spent time conversing with Bryant and the rest of the team before play resumed.

When asked how many rounds he could go with Pacquiao, Paul answered, “15 seconds?”

The crowd was only too happy to respond, raining down cheers of “C-P-3! C-P-3!” for the New Orleans guard. Chicago Bulls superstar Derrick Rose received similar treatment as the crowd chanted “M-V-P! M-V-P!” as he took a pair of free throws in the fourth quarter, but he disappointed his fans by missing both shots. But the loudest cheers — at least for basketball players — were reserved for Bryant himself, as the crowd pleaded for him to put himself back into the game.

The oddest chant, though, occurred with four minutes to go in the game and the All-Stars leading 90-80. Perhaps praying for a miracle upset, the crowd erupted into familiar chants of “defense” as they cheered the effort of the hard-charging home team.

There were also a lot of dunks, on both sides. Douthit, Aguilar and Kelly Williams all showed off their athleticism for SMART-Gilas as did Tyreke Evans, James Harden and the rest of the SMART-All-Stars.

McGee, who scored 25 points against the undersized PBA selection the night before, was held to just 16, including just three in the first half as he was defended by the 6-11 Douthit. Bryant and Durant combined to score 21 points in the first half, when they pulled away from their local counterparts.

Jayvee Casio scored 16 points for SMART-Gilas, Douthit scored 14 points and Chris Lutz added 12. Hontiveros hit three shots from beyond the arc and finished with 11 of his own. He would later have the privilege of receiving Bryant’s jersey as he made an exchange with the NBA superstar.

Kobe, McGee, Durant star in SMART All-Stars dunkfest over PBA selection

The SMART All-Stars led by Kobe Bryant, Derrick Rose, Kevin Durant and Chris Paul romped to a 131-105 win over a selection of Philippine basketball players on Saturday night at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum. But despite the lopsided scores, everyone in the venue – including the NBA superstars’ victims – went home happy after the game highlighted by thunderous dunks and above-the-rim action.

Washington center JaVale McGee stole the show from his more heralded teammates, scoring 25 points and leading the stunning display of aerial artistry. Durant added 22 points off vicious dunks and trademark fade-away long bombs.

But the biggest cheers in the arena were reserved for Bryant, the SMART-All Stars’ playing coach. The Lakers’ superstar, who did not play in the fourth quarter when the game had already been decided, was serenaded by chants by the Filipino crowd egging him to put himself back in the game.

Bryant ended with only 12 points, which might as well have been the loudest 12 points in the history of the game. The 32-year-old guard turned back time, throwing down three sensational alley-oop slams as if he were still a hotshot 18-year-old rookie, including a reverse dunk off a Chris Paul pass off the backboard in the second quarter.

It was one of many highlights of the night for Filipino fans, who packed the coliseum to the rafters and went bonkers after every dunk from their NBA idols, which also included James Harden, Tyreke Evans, Derrick Williams, and Derek Fisher.

Despite playing the part of the Washington Generals for this exhibition match, the PBA selection started off gamely, with Arwind Santos scoring the first basket – and the first slam dunk – of the game.

The PBA stars even took several early leads in the opening period, as Santos led the charge with ten points. But Durant quickly caught fire, scoring nine points to put the SMART All-Stars ahead, 30-26, at the end of the first quarter.

The Oklahoma City forward continued his onslaught in the second quarter, adding eleven points to his total, while his Thunder teammate Harden and McGee caught fire. The NBAers ended the half with a 66-50 lead.

After a halftime break featuring a three-point shootout where Paul and Harden beat LA Tenorio and Larry Fonacier, all hell broke loose in the third quarter, as the SMART All-Stars put away the game for good.

Bryant scored on two alley-oops coming off passes from Paul and Durant, before feeding Rose for a two-handed alley-oop jam of his own, which prompted the capacity crowd to chant “M-V-P, M-V-P” for the Most Valuable Player of the 2010-2011 NBA season.

Harden added some footage to his highlight reel too, going coast to coast for a rock-the-cradle reverse jam.

Human pogo stick McGee, meanwhile, made himself an easy target of alley-oop passes from his teammates, before bringing the house down with a couple of coast-to-coast jams, showcasing breathtaking athleticism that had perhaps never been seen before by a Filipino audience.

The SMART All-Stars led107-78 heading into the payoff period, and the dunkfest continued in the fourth quarter, with Harden, Evans, and McGee continuing to strut their stuff while Bryant chilled on the bench.

Despite the beatdown, the PBA players, which included James Yap, Mark Caguioa, Sonny Thoss, Jason Castro, Arwind Santos, Alex Cabagnot, Larry Fonacier, Ryan Reyes, Danny Seigle, Rabeh Al-Hussaini, Marc Pingris, Gary David, Sol Mercado, LA Tenorio, Gabe Norwood, and JC Intal, were visibly happy sharing the court with their idols.

Bryant himself was impressed by the performance of the locals, who were led by Santos with 25 points.

“I love the passion they play with,” he said. “They play with a lot of energy.”

Bryant and company will take the court once more on Sunday against the SMART-Gilas Pilipinas national team at 1 p.m., also at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

SMART-Gilas team captain Chris Tiu watched the match intently from the sidelines. He acknowledged that it’s going to be a tough battle for his team.

“Sana gumimik sila,” he quipped, “para bukas antok pa ‘pag kalaban kami.”

While the NBA stars impressed the crowd with their basketball skill, the stateside contingent was impressed by the love showered upon them by the Filipino crowd.

“We’re a long way from home, but you guys made me feel welcome,” said Paul, the New Orleans Hornets superstar point guard.

For PBA stars, it's showtime

MANILA, Philippines - For the PBA as an organization, being a part of the Ultimate All-Star Weekend is an honor and a privilege.For the PBA players, it’s an experience of a lifetime.

James Yap and company look forward to the event aware that the opportunity to play these NBA stars is as rare as winning an MVP award.

It’s a dream come true for all the PBA stars to strut their stuff on the floor versus their idols Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Derrick Rose and Chris Paul.

The blockbuster two-game series is ushered in by the 7:30 p.m. match between the NBA stars versus the PBA selection today.

“It’s just unbelievable. I still can’t believe these players like Kobe, Durant, Chris Paul and Derrick Rose are coming over. They are probably the best players in the world and to see them live in action would be a thrill to the fans,” said PBA commissioner Chito Salud.

“Our players will have the opportunity to gauge their skills and talent against the NBA stars. Some of them may well be overwhelmed and awed at the start. But as they warm up and play, I expect them to try their best to match up. In general, I see an exciting game,” Salud also said.

“For sure, we’ll be amazed just seeing them in person. How much more playing them? This will really be a memorable experience,” said Yap.

The two-time PBA MVP winner, however, stressed they will show their stuff and not just let the NBA stars run the show.

“We’ll play with pride, and we’ll see how we fare,” said Yap.

“Actually, we PBA players do imagine playing the NBA stars. We’re curious if we can shoot over a Kobe Bryant or if we can stop a Kevin Durant. We have this opportunity to see it now,” Yap added.

“I think one of the purposes why boss MVP (Manny V. Pangilinan) came up with this event is so that we can show to the world the Philippine brand of basketball. We’re taking the challenge,” said LA Tenorio.

“Maybe, it’s like the PBA All Stars; show time at the start then turning into a competitive game later on. But definitely, we’ll not just let ourselves got beat,” Tenorio added.

Tenorio, the Alaska Milk premier playmaker, brims with excitement particularly in getting to match up with Rose and Paul whom he idolizes.

“How I wish I can bring a camera while playing. Nonetheless, I’ll wear my Chris Paul (Nike) shoes and hopefully have it signed by Chris Paul,” said Tenorio.

Some of the local stars have PBA games to play Friday and Sunday but still promise to make the most out of the Ultimate All-Star Weekend.

“I’ll savor the moment,” said Sonny Thoss, the main frontcourt player of the Alaska team playing Talk n Text Friday and Petron Blaze Sunday.

Meralco’s Sol Mercado, Petron’s Arwind Santos and Coca-Cola’s Gary David are thrilled to be in this event.

“I’m super excited I’ll get to play these NBA stars. I’ll have a picture with all of them and I’ll have my jersey signed by all of them,” said Santos, thrilled like a true fan.

“We just watch them on TV. They are future NBA Hall of Famers and we get to play them. It’s really a big source of pride,” said Mercado.

“I’m so happy to make the PBA team and get the chance to play these idols of ours. We’ll get to personally see and feel how really quick, strong and good they are,” said David.

Talk n Text coach Chot Reyes, who helped negotiate with the NBA people, will handle the PBA selection that also includes B-Meg’s Marc Pingris, Ginebra’s Mark Caguioa and JC Intal, Petron’s Alex Cabagnot and Rabeh Al-Hussaini, Talk n Text’s Ryan Reyes, Jason Castro and Larry Fonacier, Air21’s Danny Seigle and Rain or Shine’s Gabe Norwood.

This marks the first time a group of active NBA players is coming over to play a PBA selection since 1978 when the Washington Bullets included Manila in their world tour after winning the NBA crown over the Seattle SuperSonics.

NBA stars amazed by warm welcome in Manila

MANILA, Philippines – Eight of the nine NBA stars who will throw their basketball-passionate Filipino fans a big treat in the Smart Ultimate All-Star weekend arrived in Manila Friday morning.

Oklahoma City Thunder’s Kevin Durant tweeted to say that he would be in Manila Saturday morning as he would be leaving for the US Friday.

Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant , who just wrapped up his five-city Asia tour for Nike, arrived late Friday from Shanghai in China.

New Orleans Hornets’ Chris Paul, Washington Wizards’ Javale McGee and Sacramento Kings’ Tyreke Evans all expressed their amazement at the warmest welcome they’ve ever received – and that was just at the airport.

“What a welcome from the fans here in Manila,” said the star playmaker Paul, who planed in with brother C.J., on his Twitter account.

“Shoutout to all my fans in Manila. They all showed me love at the airport,” said the former Rookie of the year Evans.

“So much love on Manila,” said McGee, the runner-up of last season’s slam dunk contest.

And the lanky, high-flying center could not wait to bring, not just his dunking prowess, but his planking act here in Manila – with the jeepney as his first prospect.

“Pierre gon’ plank on one of these,” said McGee, posting a photo of a jeep with the route ‘Guadalupe.’” Planking is a wide spread craze involving lying face down in an unusual location.

Minnesota Timberwolves’ draft pick Derrick Williams, who has not even played a single NBA game yet due to the lockout, was also given a “crazy welcoming” by the fans.

And what was the first thing that the second over-all pick of this year’s draft noticed?

“I saw a 24-hour Shakeys on the way here!” said Williams. “Hopefully they deliver! Best pizza ever.”

Meanwhile, the Thunder’s bearded guard James Harden is already thinking about shopping two hours into his stay.

“Wanting to do some shopping in the Philippines. Any ideas?” Harden said.

The Thunder’s James Harden, Chicago Bulls’ Derrick Rose and Los Angeles Lakers’ Derek Fisher also arrived for the series of exhibition games to be played at the Araneta Coliseum on July 23 and 24.

The star-studded USA selection will go up against the PBA All-stars on Saturday at 7 p.m., even as they face the Philippine national basketball team on Sunday at 1 p.m.

“I can’t wait to get out on the court tomorrow [Saturday]!” exclaimed Paul.

Derrick Rose completes NBA stellar cast in Manila

MANILA, Philippines - Reigning MVP and former Rookie of the Year Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls is the eighth and last member of the stellar NBA cast playing Smart Gilas Pilipinas and a PBA selection in a dream two-game series on July 23 and 24 at the Araneta Coliseum.

MVP Sports Foundation president Al Panlilio, whose group is organizing the blockbuster event dubbed the Ultimate All-Star Weekend, said Rose will complete the eight-player roster headed by five-time champions Kobe Bryant and former ROY awardee Chris Paul of the New Orleans Hornets.

“He (Rose) okay, there’s just one detail we’re trying fix out,” said Panlilio, who broke the news Friday night of the much-awaited two-day basketball extravaganza finally happening, yesterday.

Rose’s name was being floated from the start when plans of the MVPSF leaked to the media right during the time when the NBA teams locked out their players for failing to come up with a new collective bargaining agreement.

It was only yesterday that Rose’s much sought apperance was officially confirmed.

The name of the former Memphis Tigers was also repeatedly being mentioned in commercials of the Ultimate All-Star Weekend being shown on TV5 Sunday night or on the eve of the official announcement.

Just on his third NBA season, Rose has already won invidivudal and team accolades having snared the ROY and NBA trophies while leading the Bulls to the Eastern Conference Finals before succumbing to eventual losing finalists the Miami Heat.

The star-studded NBA cast will thus comprise of Rose, Bryant, who will coach the squad, Paul, Fisher, Tyreke Evans of the Sacramento Kings, James Harden of the Oklahoma Thunder, DeAndre Jordan of the Los Angeles Clippers and Derrick Williams of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Reigning ROY and slam dunk champion Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers was supposed to play and join the side slam dunk event but begged off in the last minute to attend his brother’s wedding in the United States.

Two-time scoring champion and former ROY Kevin Durant of the Oklahoma Thunder was earlier reported to be joining the team but negotiations of bringing him to the country to play bogged down.

The event, which came into fruition thanks to Smart, PLDT, Meralco, Maynilad, TV5, Metro Pacific Tollways and Investment Corp. and Philex Mining, will feature Kobe and the gang against the Chot Reyes-mentored PBA team at 7 p.m. on July 23 and versus the Rajko Toroman-coached Smart Gilas at 1 p.m. the following day.

James Yap and Marc Pingris of BMeg, Mark Caguioa and JC Intal of Ginebra, Arwin Santos and Rabeh Al-Hussaini of Petron Blaze, Ryan Reyes, Jason Castro and Larry Fonacier of Talk N’ Text, Sonny Thoss and LA Tenorio of Alaska, Sol Mercado of Meralco, Gary David of Powerade, Gabe Norwood of Rain or Shine and Danny Seigle of Air21 will comprise the PBA team.

Talk N’ Text’s Kelly Williams, Jimmy Alapag and Ranidel de Ocampo, Meralco’s Asi Taulava and Air21’s Dondon Hontiveros will suit up with the Nationals, who are on the thick of preparations for the FIBA-Asia Championship in Wuhan, China.

Los Angeles Laker Derek Fisher is confirmed to join superstars Kobe Bryant and Chris Paul in Manila on July 23 and 24, for two exhibition games with Filipino players at the Araneta Coliseum. Fisher's participation was confirmed by PLDT Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan, no less, at the MVP Birthday Run Saturday morning.

The MVP Sports Foundation, Smart Communications, and the MVP group of companies, which includes PLDT, Smart, Meralco, and TV5, are bringing a select roster of NBA athletes to play with local stars from the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) and the Smart-GILAS national team that Pangilinan's companies and foundations have also taken under their wings.

Sources said organizers of the exhibition games on July 23 and 24 have also signed another NBA star to join Bryant, Paul, and Fisher, but this player's name will be revealed on Monday yet.

Kobe to debut as playing coach vs PBA all stars and Smart Gilas

It’s Kobe versus King James.

But while he won’t quite be going up against LeBron, Filipino basketball fans will still be treated to a duel between Bryant and a host of NBA stars against a Philippine Basketball Association selection led by two-time MVP James Yap.

“In behalf of the MVP Sports Foundation, we would like to announce that we’re going to have a select group of NBA players led by Kobe Bryant and Chris Paul playing against the best from the PBA as well as our very own SMART-Gilas,” said Chot Reyes, head coach of the Grand Slam-seeking Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters, in a press conference on Friday.

Bryant will be making his playing-coaching debut in a couple of charity exhibition games, on July 23 against the PBA all-stars and on July 24 against the SMART-Gilas Pilipinas national team.

Joining Bryant, a five-time NBA champion with the Los Angeles Lakers, and Paul, the star point guard of the New Orleans Hornets, will be other notable names like former Rookie of the Year Tyreke Evans of the Sacramento Kings, No. 2 overall pick of the 2011 draft Derrick Williams of the Minnesota Timberwolves, center DeAndre Jordan of the Los Angeles Clippers and James Harden, the sixth man of the Oklahoma City Thunder, and two more players yet to be named.

Bryant’s eight-man squad will be going up against a 16-man PBA selection coached by Reyes, which include Yap and Marc Pingris of B-MEG, Mark Caguioa and JC Intal of Barangay Ginebra, Arwind Santos, Rabeh Al-Hussaini and Alex Cabagnot of Petron Blaze, Ryan Reyes, Jason Castro and Larry Fonacier of Talk ‘N Text, Sonny Thoss and LA Tenorio of Alaska, Sol Mercado of Meralco, Gary David of Powerade, Gabe Norwood of Rain or Shine and Danny Seigle of Air 21.

“It’s going to be the best of the PBA against some of the best of the NBA,” said Reyes.

Training for SMART-Gilas

Five more PBA players, Ranidel de Ocampo, Kelly Williams, Jimmy Alapag of Meralco, Asi Taulava of Meralco, and Dondon Hontiveros of Air 21, will reinforce SMART-Gilas in the second exhibition game. De Ocampo will be making his debut for SMART-Gilas, which will use the series to toughen up for the FIBA-Asia Championship in September.

“When we broached this idea a couple of months back, the idea is to get the NBA stars here and play their hearts out,” said Reyes.

SMART-Gilas operations manager Butch Antonio said they expect a competitive game against the NBA stars and not purely to entertain the fans.

“We come to win. It will be tough, but at least if we lose, we just have to keep the game close,” he added.

Burning the lines

Reyes, along with MVP Sports Foundation president Al Panlilio, burned the lines the past few days to put together the event.

When asked about the price of bringing the NBA stars over, Reyes refused to give details.

“It’s between expensive and very expensive, let’s leave it at that,” said Reyes.

Panlilio, however, pointed out that it was for a good cause that was close to the heart of MVP sports chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan, who celebrated his birthday on Thursday.

“This is MVP’s gift to the public,” said Panlilio. “We’re doing this to inspire other corporate organizations to do similar things of raising funds using sports.”

Full support from the PBA

When the PBA was first broached the idea, the league brass jumped at the chance to be part of the event.

“We’re happy to inform [the public] that this was unanimously approved by the Board,” said PBA chairman Rene Pardo. “The PBA will not let this event pass.”

PBA commissioner Chito Salud added that this event is a rare treat for the fans.

“I am very happy for our fans, I am happy for our players for this wonderful opportunity and I am happy for the PBA to be given this rare privilege,” said Salud.

Missing Blake

But despite the star-studded lineup, one big star who almost confirmed but ended up definitely not coming was Rookie of the Year Blake Griffin.

“His brother is getting married that is why he couldn’t make it, but he really would have loved to come here,” added Reyes.

Griffin is the reigning NBA slam dunk champion and is one of the most exciting players in the league.

‘Let’s fill Araneta to the rafters’

Reyes, meanwhile, had a message for Filipino basketball fans: “Let’s fill the Araneta Coliseum to the rafters.”

THE ANGRY BIRDS MOVIE

There has been rumblings that video game company Rovio had plans for a movie adaptation of their mobile phone hit Angry Birds since last summer. This week, Rovio got a bit closer to seeing that actually happen with the hiring of David Maisel, who was partly responsible for helping Marvel become its own movie studio. Rovio's plan for David Maisel is for him to oversee the formation of an entire entertainment franchise based on the Angry Birds concept, including toys, more games and a franchise of Angry Birds feature films. For those not familiar, the premise of Angry Birds is that some evil pigs have kidnapped the eggs of the birds, and so they are angry, and need to be slingshot at the pigs' structures, freeing the eggs and killing the pigs. So, basically, imagine that as a CGI animated movie, and that's what Rovio wants to bring to your local cineplex. Angry Birds is this week's Top Story basically because... there wasn't much else to choose from. People do seem to love Angry Birds, so there is that. The next step for Angry Birds is most likely finding a screenwriter and/or a director. Knowing how Hollywood works, it will probably be someone who isn't among those who contributed to the game's 250 million downloads.

I'm beginning to get bored on facebook. Yesterday a tweet from Harold Heronimo announced this news via twitter. ;) Introducing the FACEBOOK + SKYPE, bringing conversations to life.

Skype is a software used to make calls over the Internet. It also features instant messaging, file transfer and video conferencing. By using the Skype Me application on Facebook, you can put a call button on your profile that tells your friends when you are logged on to Skype. They can call you, start a chat with you and add you to their Skype friends via this application. Terrific isn't it?.

Here are the procedures on how to add the application.

2.)Click the "Go to Application" button in the top-left corner of the page. On the next page, enter your Skype username into the box, select a call button to be displayed on your Facebook profile and then click "Save."

The Final Destination series is a series of horror films based on an unproduced script written by Jeffrey Reddickfor the X-Files television series.
