Frank: Disconcerting

This is an old image I shot in Christchurch last year just after the first earthquake that had done some damage. I wanted to capture some of the disconcerted feeling I was having seeing the damaged buildings (minor compared to what occurred this year) but wanted to do it in a way that was less literal than just photographing damage. This image captured that feeling for me.

Its also airs on Thursday 9th of June, TV2.
I'm sad that collabor:10 is drawing to a close, but I will chase other photography projects.

Nigel: macro

I wondered if we should lighten it up a little, shall we play a game of guess what the macro image is?

I had real trouble trying to take macro images without a movable flash or a ring flash. It was hard to get enough light onto the subject matter as the macro lens was literally touching the object. Any tips or tricks to help with this?

Iso:1600, 1/30s, aperture is unable to be changed because of the lens setup but was set at 4.5

Wazzza: Brisbane

Spent last week in Brisbane with an inter-airline basketball competition.

We played as Airnz / SAS with 6 kiwi’s and 3 Scandinavian guys.

Had 6 games over 5 days with thursday as a rest day, and won 5/6 coming 3rd.

The only team to beat us was Air Tahiti and they won the tournament.

This pic was from near our hotel of an old church that has been built into a corner.

I liked the comparison between the ornate old school construction and the austere new buildings.

Nigel: Street art in San Fran

Just returned from a few NW cities in the states. I was blown away by some of the street art on the sides of buildings. This is not strictly in that category as it is commissioned but it is incredible all the same. San Francisco had mind blowing art on every second block.

I didn’t take my canon with me on the trip, so the quality is somewhat lesser.
