You will need to have historical details and information, as well as statistical data to support your answers. However, your main objective of writing a theory essay is to argue coherently and effectively for a topic in a well defined theoretical manner. Along with this, you will also want to:

Develop your thesis statement and be able to sustain this throughout your essay. Your essay should be organized so that it emphasizes an argument and clearly states your position.

You want to make sure that you are answering the question posed to you within the course. You should be able to clearly define your theories based on the course material, as well as show that you understand what the course is about.

Make sure that any terms that are being used in the essay are defined so that the reader understands them if they were a person not reading the course material. Any terms used should be clearly defined so that anyone can read and understand the essay.

Make sure that any claims are supported with evidence and factual material.

Part of writing a theory essay is making sure that you leave yourself enough time for the editing needed to create the essay correctly. Do not wait until the last minute to write a theory paper, since there is a lot of research and time that is needed to put one together in a professional manner. You will need time for critical revisions and to reflect on the information that you are presenting.

A few others things to keep in mind when writing a theory essay are:

Make sure that you are using an analytical voice throughout the essay. You want to make sure that it is obvious that you have done your homework on the topic and that you are thinking critically about the texts that are being used.

Never use casual language. Make sure that you only use language that is appropriate for the essay. Never use language that you would use in emails, messages and other areas that is casual and could even be considered sloppy.

Make sure that if you ever have to quote directly from a text as supporting evidence that you quote accurately, as well as give credit.

If part of your theory essay is to analyze another theorist or their work, make sure to use your own words and cite the work as necessary even if you are paraphrasing. You want to make sure that you are giving the strongest argument possible for the work they have created.

Keep in mind that any texts you are using to support your theories have been explored in depth, so that you completely understand their meaning and that they are fully working for your theories.

Always write as if you have an audience that is not an expert in the field. Though your professor is, the essay still needs to be written to show that you understand the material, as well as it needs to be presented in such a manner that anyone can understand it.

Make sure to keep in mind any objections that could arise about your theories.

href="http://www.collegeessaytips.org/college-essay-tips/how-to-write-a-cause-and-effect-essay-for-college/">Cause and effect essays are a good way to compare items which show their similarities and differences. Sometimes, the hardest part involves coming up with a list topics to use. You do not want to pick a topic that is too broad which could become difficult to pull two different ideas together, yet so specific it narrows your discussion points. Typically, the essay needs to be in depth expressing details and clear thoughts to show a definite cause and effect to one another.

Part of choosing a topic of course will be the course requirements that the instructor or professor has given you. You will want to make sure what the requirements are and what the teacher expects you to be writing on. So when choosing a topic, make sure that you are falling within these parameters and not picking something that you want to talk about and does not fulfill the course description of the essay. When coming up with ideas for a topic, think about what the course is about, as well as what the teacher is asking for.

Some cause and effect ideas to use are:

Comparing environmental changes or hazards. Such as how pollution has an effect on health or what pollution does to the environment. What the causes are of pollution and the effect the pollution has on the environment.

Covering the causes of parents working and effects it has on children. How does having two parents working in the household effect a child or children in the home.

How does the media effect our outlook on politics or other factors within the country. What is the cause of the media and how do they effect the outcome of political races, people’s attitudes and societies over all thoughts on issues.

What are the causes of the death penalty and what are effects of caring out such judgments in society? Or does the death penalty work, in terms of the causes for the death penalty and does it effect people to deter them from crimes?

What are the causes and effects of different wars that have taken place? With a topic like this you may want to narrow it down to one war and certain aspects of the effects that the war had on society.

With any of these, they are only examples that can be used. If you can chose a topic that you are interested in, know something about, or want to learn more about, then go for it!. Picking subjects that you have no interest in will come through in your paper and will be obvious to the professor, since there will be no passion in your writing for the subject. Keep in mind that cause and effect essays are not about your opinion or what you think about the subject, but they are about facts, so you’ll want to pick topics that are not too obscure or do not have some sort of research available about them.

Descriptive illustrations within your writing makes your main points easier to understand and presents your conceptual thoughts in a clearer manner.

When you begin writing an illustrative essay, there are a few steps to follow:

You need to find the topic or fact that needs to be told to your readers. Before writing the thesis of the paper, think of it clearly in your mind, envision what it is and than begin writing the thesis. Try to be very accurate and clear, and try to describe your experience you are talking about in the piece.

Write your thesis clearly and make sure it is comprehensible. This should entail a very well formed statement that ties to the truth of the work you are illustrating.

Remember the thesis statement is the main message you are giving your readers. With an illustrative essay, you are wanting to show your audience the truth in your work. Knowing who your reader will be makes writing this thesis and showing the truth of the work easier. Remember to “know” your audience and to to write the essay at their skill and reading level.

Make sure you know how much your reader will know about the topic you have chosen. Knowing their attitude or opinions make writing the essay easier.

When writing the essay you will need to use a story or multiple stories to show the truth of the work and will require a solid list of references in your bibliography. You can begin the outline, by laying out the summary and the stories that will be used in the essay. These should be positive and convincing stories that move your reader in the direction of the truth you are trying show them.

Arrange the stories and information in an order that leads the reader in the direction of the truth you are showing them. Each story should be clear and specific, as well as explicit so they can see the connections and move in the direction of the truth. These stories need to have an impact and leave an impact on the reader. So again, knowing your reader will allow you to use stories that they can relate to and understand the truth you are showing them.

The stories should all be broken down into separate paragraphs and chucks of stories that show the truth you are talking about. These can be written as a story or almost like a narrative. If you use one story, than break them down into sections in each paragraph to show the important parts that lead to the truth. If you are using multiple stories, they should be brief and clear and have their own paragraph.

The examples should be specific and unique. They should be very personal in some way to reach the reader. However, there is also the option of using hypothetical stories and details too to make your point.

Do not forget to use exemplifiers, such as for example, for instance, including, like, that is or namely for instance.

The essay can be organized in anyway that you see fit, as long as it leads to the truth you are trying to show. It can start broad and than become more specific or it can start specific and than become broader. It can be done either way that works to best illustrate your point.

You can use as many examples that are needed to explain the point, but at the same time do not bog down or over load the reader either.

All paragraphs and sentences should be in support of the thesis statement and the point you are making.

Though an illustrative essay is a little different than other essays, there still needs to be the introduction, body and An analysis essay covers a topic, subject or problem and goes into detail about the issue by breaking it into smaller parts. These smaller chunks of information are easier to understand and go through. Analysis essays use both division and classification methods. When using classification you will arrange the ideas, people or objects of the essay to show how there are common characteristics or groups within the content. You are essentially creating an order within the essay. When you classify you also divide the information, since you are separating the parts of the content into different areas. This will create groups and subgroups of information for the analysis essay.

When you begin writing you will be taking apart the subject or topics to show how it works. Then there is identifying the parts of the subject so you are able explain the connection between them. By doing this you are able to show the point you are trying to make with the topic.

There are multiple parts to writing an analysis essay, these are:

Understanding The Tone Of The Work To Be Analyzed – When you write an analysis essay, you want to make sure you are understanding the tone that the author is trying to make. Make sure think of what is the author’s feelings towards the subject? Is the writing ironic? Is is to taken at face value?

The Author’s Main Point – Determine the essence and statement of the work in question. Usually you can look at the first sentence of the piece you will be analyzing since this is usually where the thesis statement is. However, keep in mind that at times there is no one sentence that will have the main point, it may be a combination of sentences that do this.

Summarize and Paraphrase The Author’s Words – When you go to summarize the work how this is done will be determined by if you are analyzing an essay or a narrative. With narratives you are doing a plot summary, which can be comprehensive or sequential in order. This will either follow the events that happen in the story, mainly keying on the main points. With a narrative you can also analyze the main actions of the story and than the events that led to those actions. On the other side there is the summary of an essay. You will state the main point of the entire essay and then go through and show the supporting facts from the essay to prove it. Each point is important, as well as every sub point to so that none over shadow any other points in the analysis. If you choose paraphrasing, than you make sure to put it in your own words, as well as state any resources that are used.

The Supporting Points Needs To Be Judged – When you are bringing together the points of the essay, make sure you take in to account which are of true relevance to the authors work and supporting your essay. Consider if the points are facts of opinions? Look for exaggerations, questionable numbers or information that looks like facts but are only opinions. Are there are enough points that correlate back to the main point? Do the points make an example of people or objects from the work? Is the author considering other views in their work? Does the author’s work have any fallacies to it.

Once you have gone over this information, you can begin putting the analysis essay together in written form in a cohesive manner.

id="x_zw-132920db2d0wlpz1W265bc8">Personal statement essays are commonly used when applying to a college or university and will help you introduce yourself. This type of essay shows your personality, as well as your intelligence. When writing this type of essay, you’ll want to make sure to write in a manner that is interesting and will hold the reader’s attention. To do so, make sure to read the question carefully and respond with a clearly created response.

Part of the personal statement essay is making sure you explain yourself clearly. You’ll need to create an essay that is interesting, as well as revealing and insightful. You should reflect on yourself, who you are and do a self examination of your goals and objectives. Plus, you want to make sure you set yourself apart from others within your essay. You will need to possibly share information you typically would not share with others, however don’t give someone your life story!

When you begin to write your personal statement essay, keep these questions in mind:

What makes you different, unique or special?

What is interesting or impressive about your life?

What about your life will set you apart from others? This includes family history and problems, personal information, accomplishments, events or other people in your life.

Why are you going to college in the field you have chosen?

When did you first become interested in this field?

If you have been working prior to college or while in college, how has this changed your life, increased your skills or contributed to your personal growth?

What are your career goals?

If you have gaps in your education, why? Do make sure to explain these.

Have you gone through hardships or obstacles that you have had to over come?

What your personality characteristics, such as compassion or persistence?

How will these characteristics help you in your chosen field?

What your personal skills, such as communication or leadership, how will these help you in your chosen field?

Why should a teacher, admissions staff or anyone else at the college be interested in you?

Keeping these questions in mind will help you write the essay and determine and who you are to the college or university, as well as a teacher and professor too. Once you have been able to answer these questions, you will want to keep a few things in mind when creating your essay, which are:

Tell a story, but tell the truth and stick to the facts of your life. Tell a story of something that affected you or helped you, but keep it interesting, fresh and original. You do not want the reader to be bored and uninterested. You want to keep them engaged.

Make sure to have an angle and brainstorm ideas that will help you to emphasize who you are, your best qualities and your achievements too.

Ensure your first paragraph is strong and will hold the readers attention. This is where you will draw the reader and get them to want to keep reading. If you lose them here, they will not want to read the rest of the essay.

Make sure your essay tells who you are and how you are different than other people.

Do be very selective in your information about yourself. Do not add too much, to where the essay become cluttered and unclear, however do not add too little either, where it does not say anything about yourself

A few other things to keep in mind is to answer the personal statement essay question that has been presented to you. Make sure to answer it, do not write what you think others will want to hear or what they want you to write. It’s best to answer the question honestly instead. However, make sure not to add information that is inappropriate or does not add to the essay. Again, too much information that is off topic will do nothing for your essay and bog the reader down.

You also want to have an upbeat tone and attitude in the essay, as well as giving specific details and information. Make sure you hit the word count and do a through check of the spelling and grammatical errors too. You do not want to write a great essay that is over looked due to missing the work count or having numerous spelling and grammar errors in it.

id="zw-13139c3fb4cdfmUsK265bc8">When writing a term paper, you will need to choose a topic. If you’re allowed to pick your own topic, make sure it is creative (this can be extremely helpful as it will make the writing easier). Keep in mind when you begin writing a term paper, you want to make your point in the introduction. Make sure to have the reader hooked and wanting to read the term paper. The topic needs to be introduced, but in an interesting way with a strong thesis statement. The thesis needs to be the main part of your term paper and the rest of the essay will follow it.

When it comes to writing the body of the term essay, they need to be strong and support the thesis statement. However, it needs to cover and support the thesis with new information and facts. After completing the body, there is the conclusion. The conclusion needs to pull the entire term paper together. The thesis statement needs to be reinstated in the conclusion, but in a different way. You can add an 1-2 additional details or thoughts in the conclusion if it helps tie things together. Also, this is where you can add something that makes the reader think a little and look back (this is a great way to receive feedback from your professor or teacher).

Along with writing a term essay, you need to make sure the title catches the readers attention and there is some style added to the essay. You also want to make sure you use the correct format as always. Be sure of whether you are to be using MLA or APA formatting from the instructor and which they prefer. After writing the entire essay, make sure to proofread it and check for anything that is not necessary in the term essay. Revise sections that can be added to and clarified, as well as remove anything that is not directly related to your thesis statement. id="x_zw-13279c8d65aoChQzJ265bc8">When you begin writing an literature essay, you will be trying to explain the meaning behind the piece of literature. You will need to pay attention to details, as well as pay close attention to the style and structure in the piece you read. This is mainly because the meaning can also be tied to the aspects of the essay. Using this form of essay writing for literature allows you the writer to go over and cover complex information within the text and compare it with the writer’s view point.

Literature essays are typically set-up to in multiple paragraphs that state the information, build up on statements and then conclude by reiterating key points within the essay. Organizing your literature essay goes as follows:

Make sure to read and reread the literature that you will be writing the essay on. Make sure that you cover any sections that are confusing prior to beginning to write. You may want to take notes or use note cards to make it easier to separate and organize the information. You will want to mark what parts of the literature you read is structural, have style points, contain the plot, sub plot and the point of view.

You will want to gather research material that cover the different aspects of the literature you read. You will want to make sure you have different opinions and aspects of the piece so you are able to compare this to your own view point, as well as possibly use it in the essay too. These research materials should be marked and have notes taken so you can organize the information.

After you’ve have researched all your material and read over the text within notes from both, go through all your notes to make sure to organize them and remove any unnecessary information. Make sure you have the author, title of the research and the page numbers so that you are able to cite your work in the essay as well.

Now begin creating your outline for the essay. Choose your topic for the essay and than the sub topics that you will be expanding on. The topic should be the thesis of essay. Each sub topic should have a clear statement sentence that will be expanded on within the paragraph. Each paragraph should build off the one before it, as well as relate back to the thesis statement and the view that you are proving or discussing. The sub topics should support, expand and discuss the view point that you have chosen about the essay.

The number of paragraphs you have will depend on the length of the essay and how much information needs to be covered. Typically, five paragraph essays are the standard number, however there can be more paragraphs if need be. Make sure to start laying out the paragraphs and looking to see that they are in the correct order and follow a clear understanding.

Once you have completed these paragraphs, make sure to write your conclusion paragraph. This should restate the thesis of the literature essay, however in a different way than the first paragraph and cover the key points of the essay as well. You can add additional facts at this point to tie the entire essay together.

Complete the works cited page with all the references and research used.

id="zw-13139c50cceFhkLxJ265bc8">If your looking to sell the reader on why a particular idea is the best solution to a given problem, your looking to write a proposal essay. When writing a proposal essay, you are trying to convince the reader and the more organized you are, the better. Part of the proposal essay is to look at the need for the proposal and to analyze why it is the best choice.

A major part of a proposal essay is making sure you are familiar with the topic. You need to know the problem, the solution(s) and the best way to solve the problem. This type of essay requires a lot of research and for you to look at all the options and ways to solve the problem. Once this has completed you will proceed by narrowing down all the choices to the one you feel is best, and than selling the reader on the idea. You will need to build a strong argument why this solution is the best as you will be presenting the best solution to solve the given problem. In addition, you will also need to understand the nature of the problem and be able to organize all your thoughts and information in a way the reader agrees with you and will see it is only the best solution to the problem.

Obviously, this is where the research comes in. You are giving your reader the proposed solution and why it is best, so you’ll need to back assertions up with research and knowledge depending on the topic. You will need to know what any other solutions and why they are not effective as your proposed solution.

When writing a proposal essay, it needs to be clear, concise and to the point. It has to be backed up by research and facts and not opinions. It has to be very clear what is being proposed and why. Keep in mind, in the proposal essay you will want to take the reader from understanding what the problem is and then take them to the given solution in a clear and concise manner, so they agree and accept the given solution.

The format of a proposal essay should be as follows:

Introduction in the first paragraph. This should include the background of the problem and the thesis, which is the solution to the problem.

Write the body of the proposal essay. There should include the paragraphs that support the given reasons why the proposal is the best solution. There should be separate paragraphs that cover each supporting reason as to why the proposed solution is the best.

The conclusion should cover the problem again and go over the proposed solution in summary, but rewritten with different words than you originally used in the thesis statement.

Research papers can also be requested in any subject or course that you are taking, though typically they are longer than a standard essay, they are nothing to be scared of. In fact, the better you become at writing them, the easier it will be to complete them.

When given a research paper to completed, you may be given a topic or you may have the choice to choose one. When choosing a topic, pick one that interests you and one you want to learn more about. Keep the focus narrow and keep it specific, which will make it easier to write and you will be able to focus your attention on a specific area of a topic. Also, choose a topic that you can handle to write, avoid topics that can become too technical or specialized, which will make completing the research paper more difficult.

Once you have chosen your topic, begin the research. Use available resource, which includes the internet. Make sure to document any links, web pages online sources and information for your citation page as well. Make sure to pay attention to domain name extensions, since government and organization sites typically can be more reliable than the traditional sites. Keep in mind that commercial sites may have more advertisements than actual information. Also, additional extensions, such as .biz, .pro, .info, .name, .ws, .cc, .sh and .tv may be a little confusing and are not as common, so pay careful attention to these sites as well, and the information they provide.

When completing research there is also the option of the Online Public Access Catalog or OPAC to use as well. These can include:

Almanacs

Atlases

AV Catalogs

Encyclopedias

Dictionaries

Government Publications

Guides

Reports

Magazines

Newspapers

Vertical Files

Zip and Postal Codes

Telephone Directories

Yellow Pages

Again, make sure to document all resources that are used for the citation page. This also includes page numbers and chapters too.

Once the research has been completed, you can move onto the thesis statement and outline of your research paper. Your research paper will be supporting and backing up your thesis statement. So you will want to complete a rough draft outline for the body of the research paper. The outline should have your introduction with the thesis statement, the body sections and the conclusion as well. The outline should be set up to make specific points that than have the supporting information below them. The body needs to relate directly back to your thesis statement, while the conclusion should restate your thesis, but not in the same words and tie the entire research paper together.

After the outline has been created, make sure to go through and begin organizing your notes and research material to make sure that it works with the outline, as well as being able to add anything else to the outline that is needed. Remove all information that is not relevant and does not pertain directly to your thesis. Go through all notes and research information a few times to make sure you only have what is necessary and relevant.

Now begin writing the first draft with the outline and notes you have. Make sure to start writing complete sentences and organizing all your thoughts from the notes and information you have. This will not be the only draft you have, it is only the first draft. After you have completed the first draft, make sure to look over these key items before completing another draft:

If your thesis statement clear and concise?

Did I use my outline?

Is there anything? that I missed?

Is there are sequence that makes sense to my arguments?

Did I put everything in my own words?

Are my sources cited?

Is my thesis proved?

Are my points clear and support my thesis?

Is there a topic sentence for each body paragraph?

Are my arguments supported with examples and/or proof?

Look for any run on sentences.

Look for repetition of words.

Do my sentences vary in length?

Make sure your paragraphs connect and flow from one to the other.

Look from grammar and spelling errors.

Check all quotes and citations that were used.

Remove all contractions in the paper.

Is the research paper in third person?

Does my conclusion tie the entire paper together?

After making these checks, move on to making any changes and writing the final draft. You will want to check for spelling and grammar again at this point as well. ?

Getting up in front of the class may never seem easy, however the more prepared you are the more confidence you’ll have when presenting information doing your speech. One of the main ideas to keep in mind is to have structure and flow to the speech. The better you organize your ideas and thoughts, as well as having a strong beginning, middle and end, the better the speech will go.

The beginning of the speech or the opening is extremely important, since this is how you will grab your audiences attention and get them interested in what you have to say. There are numerous ways to open your speech and it will depend on your topic, as well as what you are comfortable with too. You can ask a question, make a statement, use a quote or even a joke to open with. From here comes the body of the speech. This is where all the information is and the points you plan to make, so it should be the biggest chunk of the speech writing. Since you have already opened with your topic, you are now moving to your arguments and thoughts on the topic. There should be specific points that you want to cover within the body. Each point should be connected to the one before it, so the speech moves forward effortlessly and the audience can follow the train of thoughts. Make sure when you come to the end that you summarize your topic and the points that were made. You can also give further thoughts on the topic at this point as well, such as a final thought on the topic.

When writing the speech, you should still follow an outline and drafting of the speech for preparation. Create and outline, before sitting down to actually write the speech. The outline will have the beginning, middle and end of course and will make formulating the thoughts and ideas easier. A basic speech outline is as follows:

Additional details.

More points can be added if necessary, depending on the topic and the length of the speech that is needed.

Closing

Tie and summarize the speech together.

Further thoughts on the topic.

Finals thoughts or opinions on the topic.

After the first outline is complete, you can continue to go back through to add additional information or clarify points. Remove anything that does not pertain directly to your topic or is not relevant. Once the outline is complete, the first written draft of the speech can begin. Beginning writing the speech and creating complete sentences and thoughts from the outline that has been created. It is important to use your own voice and be yourself. Speeches are more of an extension of you, since you are speaking your thoughts instead of just writing them. The more the speech sounds like you,the more comfortable you will be when presenting it. Keep in mind though that this will not be the final version of the speech. There should be a couple of drafts completed to tweet the speech and to make sure that it has the desired effect you are looking for.

Before moving on to the final version of the speech, have someone else listen to you give the speech. This will help with flushing out anything else that is not needed, that can not be understood or is not working. Reading out loud a few times to yourself is worth the time as well. Once you have received feedback and made the changes. You are ready to complete the final version and give your speech.
