Last July Dr. Frank Miglorie, president of the College of St. Joseph, announced at the annual meeting of the board of trustees that he would be retiring at the end of the fiscal year on June 30, 2012. After a nine-month search for a successor, Mr. Jack Facey, chairman of the CSJ board of trustees, has announced that Dr. Richard Lloyd has been named as the new president for the College of St. Joseph in Rutland, Vermont. Dr. Lloyd will assume his post on July 1, 2012.

Presently dean emeritus and professor of English at Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska, Lloyd has a distinguished record in higher education and has served in a variety of administrative posts including vice president for academic affairs, dean of the faculty, and director of special programs. While fulfilling his administrative duties over the years, he has continued to teach and has earned the rank of full professor. Of special interest is his recent involvement at Hastings College as vice president for college initiatives. In this role he directed admissions, communications and marketing, and financial aid—areas of special interest to colleges operating in today’s competitive market.

Board Chair Facey believes that Dr. Lloyd is ideally suited to become CSJ’s next president. “He will be able to build on the institutional strengths developed by Dr. Miglorie and bring the college into its next stage of development. Our board is delighted to appoint a new president who has so much administrative virtuosity and interest in continuing the development of CSJ.”

Dr. Lloyd earned his bachelor of arts at Hastings College and went on to earn a master of arts in English at Emporia State University. He completed his Ph. D. in English at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He has been married to his wife, Monica, for 26 years and has two grown children, Meggan and Zach.

Dr. Lloyd plans to move to the Rutland region before he assumes his new post on July 1, 2012. He recognizes the opportunities and challenges that CSJ faces as it moves into the future and looks forward to becoming part of the CSJ community and the Rutland region. “I understand the commitment it takes to build, sustain, and nourish a college, and it has been an absolute pleasure learning how that mission has been carried out at the College of St. Joseph. I am so excited that Monica and I will get to experience that dedication on a daily basis, and that we will have the opportunity to support and continue the rich legacies and traditions of CSJ. I am honored and deeply humbled to serve as president. I want to express my many thanks to the entire CSJ community, to the search committee, to President Miglorie, to the Sisters of St. Joseph, and to the Board of Trustees for welcoming us to CSJ.”

Dr. Lloyd will become the 5th president of the College of St. Joseph in Rutland, Vermont, which was founded in 1956. He will follow Dr. Miglorie’s 28 years of presidential leadership at CSJ.
