What is the best source of fiber?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;GROUND FLAX SEEDS&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Any good health shop will stock them - and better yet - they&#39;re cheap:) AND effective.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Why is fiber so important anyway?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;•It increases the bulk of the stools&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;•Fiber absorbs and retains water. This increased moisture eases the passage of the poo from your intestines and minimizes straining&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;•Fiber binds to excess cholesterol and estrogens and escorts them from the body&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;•It reduces constipation, hemorrhoids, herniations of the colon and the incidence of colon cancer&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Low fiber means that the waste matter has a longer transit time through the body which increases the time it has in contact with toxins increasing their re-absorption into the bloodstream. Which means that if you&#39;re constipated your body is continuosly absorbing and reabsorbing that crap (excuse the French) back into the blood stream - feeding every cell in your body with decaying and old fecal matter (put very simply of course!) Most people have too much of Omega 6 and nowhere near enough of the 3&#39;s.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;But bowel regulation is just one benefit you&#39;ll get from adding this versatile seed to your diet, it has the added bonuses of increasing concentration, brain performance and raising energy levels. Who doesn&#39;t want more of that? I thought so! Mix them in with a glass of juice for easy drinking, sprinkle it over your morning breakfast or add it to your smoothies.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My favorite recipe is 3 tablespoons of flax in a glass of grapefruit juice - I make my own grapefruit juice - none of that lifeless store bought trash!
