The Red Dress Boutique

I have recently completed my first commercial project. Head over to the thereddressboutique.com to see what the store is all about. Diana, the store owner, was my very first client. After working on her home for two years she had me help redo her company warehouse and now her store in downtown Athens, GA. It was such a fun project!

The dressing rooms are my favorite. It was fun to mix and match them with different wallpapers and fabrics

The pink shelf was a custom piece that turned out better than I expected!

This table was also custom- I went through every pink about a 100 times before I picked this one.

We needed seating but nothing too bulky. I wanted something for people waiting on shoppers -but wanted them to have their own space. My upholsterer created these small scale chairs and I am so glad I found this trim last minute.

The custom cabinetry totally transformed the space.

The Jonathan Adler pendants took me a few hours to put together but they were totally worth it!

I had six custom chandeliers made for the dressing rooms. They are all so fun!

HGTV Fresh Faces of Design Awards

Oh my goodness! I am thrilled that my design was nominated in the HGTV Fresh Faces of Design Awards in the best use of pattern/textures category. I can't believe it! Hey everyone! I am so excited my website is finally up and running. I have been so bad about blogging over here because I've been trying to photograph these projects-and well that takes a lot more than I thought. Phew. It is so hard to ask someone with two or even one child to clean their house and keep it clean until I photograph it. Right? But I have some amazing clients who went extra lengths for me, and I appreciate it!

Lucy's Nursery

I don't know if you follow me on Instagram, but sometimes I'll throw out a free room design, contest or something else fun. Leigh Ann was the winner of my first Instagram challenge. She was only three months away from her due date so we had to work fast. We actually finished the nursery two days before Lucy was born!

This was the first moodboard I created for her. Once we met, she fell in love with the floral Romo fabric. This is where we put the most money because Lucy will be able to grow with them. We also decided to make it a little more "sweet" so we replaced the bright rug for a soft trellis one. Next up was the white crib and after testing out several gliders, Leigh Ann picked out the most comfortable one she found. We picked a light grey fabric for it so she could use it in future nurseries.

The last two months have been full of new client meetings, installations and photo shoots. It has been busy-but good! I'm very excited that my website will be up soon. Here are a few sneak peaks from my photo shoots. I'm hoping to photograph 2-3 more projects before getting it up, but we will see!

Thibaut Enchantment

My goodness. Thibaut strikes again. But this is my favorite. If you know me you know I love Chinoiserie. And you know I love bright colors-especially pink. Well, the samples aren't available yet, but I ran to ADAC as soon as they called and told me the wallpaper book was in. I snapped a few photos for clients and am watching for UPS everyday. I am dying to get my hands on the samples for my own library. Look how fun!

Obviously this ^ is my favorite. Already found a spot for it in my own home.

AM's room

One of my best friends growing up is getting ready to transition her baby to a big girl room. She fell in love with this Jungle Boogie fabric and sent it to me. It was the starting off point for the room. The only other thing she requested was a daybed so AM has plenty of floorspace to play in her new room. This is what we have come up with so far. Isn't it fun?

Chiang Mai living room

Over the last few days I have started working on a new living room project. Ashley contacted me for help with a few different rooms. When you first walk in the door, to the right is her living room. We are starting with it in hopes it will set the tone for the rest of the house. It turns out she loves Schumacher's Chiang Mai as much as I do. Ashley is the only woman in the house- she lives with her husband and two sons. So the blue color way is the perfect compromise of all things feminine and masculine.

Chattanooga

Work has been so hectic (and fun) for Caleb and I that last week we decided to drop everything and take a quick trip somewhere close. We packed up the girls and jumped in the car to Chattanooga. It wasn't anything fancy but it was a nice get away, and we realized our first trip as a family of four. Chattanooga is really a family centered town. The best part is that we stayed right in the middle of downtown and were able to hop on a free shuttle to take us anywhere we wanted to go. However, the weather was so beautiful we spent most of the time just walking around. The most simple things were the most fun for Mary Jennings and Lottie:

Living Space

So on to the living space. Here is the breakfast area:

At first we were working with her curtains. Hate to replace good things. But in this case they are just too dark for the area. But to brighten it up, I came up with an easy fix and planned to paint it a bright blue or add a neutral grasscloth to make it feel better. In this picture you can see a close up of her fabric.

But, the more we talked I realized she is much more funky than her house led me to believe. And then we came up with this:

This breakfast area is open to the living area. Its a nice big space and I'm still working on a few things here. Which means we may have to edit the breakfast area because I want it to flow.

Office Update

Whew! January came and I hit the ground running. A few clients I finished up with-things we just couldn't complete before the holidays, and I have started on a few new projects. One I had to hit full speed. My client is a tennis coach and her season starts TODAY. So we had this month to get a house plan in order. We still have a few decisions to make but we are headed in the right direction.

Let's start with her office:

Here are the combos I came up with-She already picked one, but I'd love to hear your favorite!

And here is our moodboard. The only thing we are switching out is the sofa-doing a grey one instead. Also, we plan to paint the ceiling purple and add a fun light.

My Kitchen

When I designed our house, my husband was only concerned with our kitchen. He is the cook after all. So I made it the most neutral room in the house. Definitely added a little fun in our breakfast area which is where the girls and I play while he cooks dinner. And you can see I have a splash of color in the windows. But it is time for a little more. Here is my kitchen now:

Foyer Wallpaper

Happy New Year!

I took a long break and spent some much needed time with my girls ( and husband) over the holidays. But now it's time to get back into the swing of things. It's been about six months since I've had the itch to do something new in my own home and thought I would share some of the projects I am working on. If you follow me on Instagram you know I am having a hard time deciding on my foyer wallpaper. Before we moved in I knew I would use Nina Campbell's Paradiso. It has all the colors that bring the front of my home together. It is so beautiful but now that the rooms on each side of my foyer are so heavy (in color) I'm having second thoughts. It is much easier for me to decorate others homes. When it comes to my own, I am wanting to change things all of the time! So here are the wallpapers we have narrowed it down to:

Also- I wish I could just put at the top of this blog a disclaimer that reads "I know a lot of the phone pictures I post are terrible quality. I do not think they look good." But with a baby on my leg and another about to fall down the stairs in her princess high heels I take a lot of these pictures as quickly as possible. So back to the foyer- I love this Michele Armas painting which is on the wall to the right. I don't want to take away from it because its the star of the foyer.

Don't you love how the pink play kitchen matches my Madeline Weinrib rug? Just kidding. But I kind of do.

And the living room on the left-which over the holidays and most days really, becomes a catch-all room for client purchases, Craigslist finds etc. So it looks like a hot mess full of pretty things, but too many pretty things. And some ugly things.

Shared boys room

New Nursery

Leigh Ann was the winner of my Instagram challenge this month! Yay Leigh Ann! She wants to use her gift card towards a new nursery. She is due in a few months so we are getting started asap! She said she wanted something bright-which was okay with me! I started a moodboard this morning for her and here is what I've come up with so far. Im sure we will switch out a few things, but this is a good starting point. Will keep you updated throughout the process.

I went to Athens yesterday for a quick install-we didn't have a ton this trip. I love how everything is turning out. It is such a beautiful home and it really is a happy place.

Nursery Boards

We have good friends who are soon to be parents-of a little boy. Yay for a boyfriend! :) I have a small picture of the drape fabric we are using in the nursery. They are a really fun, modern print and I used them as a starting point for the room. ( Sorry this picture is such bad quality-but you get an idea).

We are going to paint stripes in these colors behind the crib and maybe the bright green on all other walls. So here are the moodboards I created for her:

How to style a coffee table

I have a lot of people tell me they can't figure out how to style their coffee tables. It can be tricky, I agree. First, start off with a tray, or catch-all for the little things you use-remote, coasters, etc. It all looks better when contained.

Next, pick out your favorite coffee table books or magazines. It's nice for guests to have something to look at while waiting on dinner or whatever else.

You want a vase for flowers-but make sure it's not too tall. You don't want to block your TV or the person's face across from you. A small collection of vases is nice too.

New Office

I have quickly outgrown our family room computer area. I have fabrics and samples scattered all over the place. Over the last few weeks we have been cleaning out our storage closet. Its actually a great size-we built it so that we would have a walk-in ~~Christmas closet~~ storage room. I have also been using it as a paint room. Now it is getting a makeover because I am in desperate need of my own space.

Christmas Decorations

I am so excited to decorate for Christmas. I have been ready to get everything out for weeks now-but my husband hasn't been on board. There are so many fun decorations out this year. Two places I have seen some of my favorite decorations are Target and the Land of Nod. Even if you are waiting to decorate you might want to buy the things you need now-because after Thanksgiving the stores are picked over. These decorations make me so happy!

Sorry for the lack of posts. I have a little one with Pneumonia and Thanksgiving is next week-meaning everyone wants their houses finished pronto! :) SO there hasn't been any time for blogging. I do have a few updates for you.

Harbour House

Diana picked out the most beautiful Christmas decorations and worked with Corey Brice McCants to decorate her house. It turned out stunning! I spent the day with them styling bookcases and helping get ready for her upcoming look book. Have you seen her lookbooks? The models are so precious, the clothes so fun and the photography is amazing. But the clothes go FAST! So look there if you need ideas for Christmas gifts - And another gift idea is Coreys new Book Tastefully Southern. He is so fun and I haven't read the book yet but know it's a good one!

So in these photos (sorry about the quality) you will see all of his beautiful Christmas decor. But you can also see our progress. Still have a ways to go but this is good for now!

Diana and I picked out this Thibaut Resort fabric before it was even available. It was love at first sight. Now it's on order and we are dying for it to arrive.
