Almost 1,000 participants came out on Sunday morning to celebrate Mother’s Day at City Park by taking part in the Third Annual Mother’s Day 5K. Runners and walkers took advantage of the pristine running temperatures and posted some fast times, including a new women’s course record. Three Course Records Set At Collegiate Peaks Trail Race

The 2012 Collegiate Peaks Trail Run took place on April 28 in Buena Vista, taking runners on a course that followed jeep roads, single-track trails and parts of the Midland Railroad. Three new course records were set. Stevie Kremer of Crested butte won the 25M in convincing fashion, destroying the old course record of 3:24:04 (Keri Nelson – 2009) by over 20 minutes with her time of 3:03:27. The combination of top Colorado runners coupled with a weather and heat advisory lead to a palpable feeling of unknowing and excitement that some may say made Saturday’s races even better.
