It’s hard to believe that the Cottonwood Classic 5K is approaching its 18th year running. The community event, held at Thorncreek Crossing Shopping Center at 120th and Washington Street is family friendly and has quickly become a favorite over the years. Fans of yours truly – Colorado Runner – even named the Cottonwood Classic the best 5K in 2010. Possibly some of the best attractions of the event is the flat and fast course, followed by the hopping post-race festivities. Check out last year’s top finishing times below to see if you have what it takes to win some of the top [...]

All content copyright Colorado Runner. The 2nd Annual Louisville Trail Half Marathon and 10K kicked off under cloudy skies Sunday morning at Louisville Community Park. The cloudy skies did not, however, match the energy of the event, as excited participants and spectators alike bundled up in the cool air as almost 400 runners and walkers took to the Coal Creek Trail. The race course for both the half marathon and 10K are unlike any other – the half marathon follows a figure eight style course where runners are able to see their competition not once – but twice along the course. The 10K follows the [...]

All content copyright Colorado Runner. On a picture-perfect day on the trails of Greenland Open Space in Larkspur, CO, the 9th Annual Greenland Trail Races kicked off under sunny skies and cool temps. Over 700 participants took to the trails for one of the fastest 50K’s in the nation, as well as a 25K and 8 mile race. Course records were set in the men’s 50K and 25K events, and participants took advantage of the dry and clear trails as well as a hopping post-race party. In the men’s 50K, reigning champ Peter Maksimow of Manitou Springs not only took the win for the third [...]

All content copyright Colorado Runner. With the recent snowfall melting and the Colorado sun forecasting an appearance for Saturday morning, this year’s Greenland Trail Races are shaping up to be quite an event. Temperatures are looking to be much cooler than last year: a comfortable 50 degree high with cloud cover in the early afternoon. The event, held at Greenland Open Space just south of Larkspur, Colorado, features three different distances: a 50K, 25K and 8 Mile. Ultrarunning Magazine’s annual “Year in Review” revealed the Greenland 50K as one of the fastest ultras in the nation in 2012 – paying homage to the fast and [...]

All content copyright Colorado Runner. Release provided by Susan Harrison. Oyster, the original urban adventure race that sends teams of three to six throughout the city on a mystery course on foot and bike, returns to its home of Denver August 24. Featuring 10 – 30 mile courses of ridiculous fun and suitable for all endurance appetites, the Oyster combines athleticism and intelligence and will have participants running, biking, performing bizarre tasks, and solving mind bending puzzles. “Denver is home to the Oyster; it began here in 2003 and was originally dubbed a ‘Rocky Mountain ball buster,’ taken from the novelty dish Rocky Mountain Oysters,” says Jason Ornstein, [...]

All content copyright Colorado Runner. 68 runners toed the line at Boulder Reservoir under dark storm clouds on Tuesday night for the third race in the Dash & Dine series, hosted by Without Limits Productions. The impending late spring snow storm held off for the race, a race that had already been rescheduled once due to a snow storm! At the start, a group of ten stayed together virtually the entire first half of the out and back course, helping to fight the strong head wind blowing across the reservoir dam. At the turn around point, Scott Pearson of Longmont began to pull away from [...]

All content copyright Colorado Runner.
