i go by colored ambivalence

No strings attached :)

2011-07-30T23:16:00.000-07:00

Friendship has its benefits. :)

directed by Ivan Reitman starring Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher.

funny and charming in its own cliche way. movie's got an amazing soundtrack.

No Strings Attached is a romcom that would make your heart laugh and tear up.

A guy and girl decided to have a physical but emotionally-unattached relationship, everything

was fine, simple and easy until they found out they want something more of each other.

True, it's predictable but there's something that would make you wanna see how it all goes down.

Mind you, the lines are remarkable and quite catchy.

Quotations:

Adam: I'm warning you, if you take one step closer, I'm never letting you go.

Alvin: We don't get to pick who we fall in love with, and it doesn't happen like it should.

Emma: I made you a Valentine's Day card.
Adam: What?
[laughs]
Adam: It's perfect. Will you read it for me?
Emma: [reads card] You give me premature ventricular contractions.
Adam: I'm assuming that's a good thing.
Emma: You make my heart skip a beat.
Adam: Aww.
Emma: Don't make fun of me!

Emma: Don't do that. Don't just disappear like that on me.

Adam: You told me to.

Emma: You shouldn't listen to me.
Adam: Alright, I won't.

Emma: I can't stop thinking about him.

Katie: Who? Adam?
Emma: Yeah. I know it's over and I'm looking. It's just that no one is as.

Katie: [interrupts] Tall?

Emma: He's so tall.
Katie: So tall.
Emma: And he's so, like.
Katie: Happy?
Emma: Annoyingly happy, all the time. But he has this.
[pauses]
Emma: He has the best heart.

Adam: [Calling Emma] You can't just suddenly call me and say you miss me!

Emma: I know...
Adam: No, do not call me to say you miss me. Do not text me, do not e-mail me...
do not write it on my wall! If you really miss me, come here and tell me that!

Adam: So, what's up with not calling me back?
Emma: I'm not good at this stuff.
Adam: At what? Talking?
Emma: Yeah, talking. Communicating. Relationship stuff. If we were in a relationship I would become a weird scary version of myself. My throat starts constricting. The walls start throbbing. It's like a peanut allergy, like an emotional peanut allergy.

*How could you not fall for someone with a good heart? Tell me. ;)

Fight Club :)

2011-07-23T07:05:00.000-07:00

When you wake up in a different place at a different time,

can you wake up as a different person?

Edward Norton + Brad Pitt + Helena Bonham Carter + Jared Leto = Happiness! :)

solid story. perfect performances. one of the best ones i've ever seen.

I totally adore Chuck Palahniuk now.

For me, Fight Club is about everybody's dark side which blinds/shuts the 'good side.'

The dark side of one person may bring out the dark side of many others

and i think it is right to say that the right term for the outcome

would be mayhem. bow! haha!

Fight Club = twist, brainwash, freedom, mayhem, soap, sleep, pain.

Quotations:

Tyler Durden: It's only after we've lost everything that we're free to do anything.

Tyler Durden: Listen up, maggots. You are not special. You are not a beautiful or unique snowflake. You're the same decaying organic matter as everything else.

Tyler Durden: The things you own end up owning you.

Le Fabuleux destin d' Amelie Poulain :)

2011-06-20T06:48:00.000-07:00

She'll change your life. :)

charming. delightful. perfect.

Amelie's a romatic comedy film directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet starring

Audrey Tautou and Mathieu Kassovitz.

It's like a pinch of heaven here on earth.. Amelie and Nino's love story's so consuming it makes me want to strangle whoever disagrees. haha! I'm honestly jealous of their love chase. haha! Audrey Tautou is a legend to me now, she's got the ability to send through any kind of emotion to her viewers and she does it in a terrific way. She looked so cute in the movie, she's amazingly adorable, lively, vibrant, almost glowing. haha! I don't want to make a summary c0z i'm afraid i'll spill out all the good things! haha! It's got intoxicating romance, right amount of humor, a hint of drama and everything nice! haha! It's a must-watch! I highly recommend it! :)

favorite: haha!

aww. love. :)

Cashback :)

2011-05-26T06:30:00.000-07:00

It takes approximately 500 lbs. to crush a human skull, but the human emotion

is a much more delicate thing.. :)

The movie's about a guy who broke up with his girl and hasn't slept for weeks. To kill time, he decided to work night shifts and let his imagination go wild.

This movie gave the word 'CRUSH' so many meanings.. :)

Just like Sharon in the movie, i'd want to meet and be able to talk to a painter,
c0z she's right, painters have the ability to see beauty, capture it and hang it
on a wall for everyone else to see. i wanna know what's inside a painter's mind.. :)
the movie's funny and fresh. the ending's coooool!

Love is there if you want it to be, you just have to see that it's wrapped in beauty and hidden away between the seconds of your life, if you don't stop for a
minute you might miss it. - Ben Willis :)

The King's Speech :)

2011-05-26T06:29:00.000-07:00

Trust and Equality and Friendship :)

Definitely one of the best movies of 2010.

Directed by Tom Hooper starring Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter.

The King's Speech tells the story of King George VI, his impromptu ascension to

the throne after his brother's abdication and his engagement with the unorthodox

speech therapist Lionel Logue and their unlikely friendship.

The strongest point of the movie is King George VI's first wartime speech

and it honestly made me nervous haha!

The movie's very good, uplifting and witty. Nicely done. Solid acting. Colin Firth did justice to his role and the stammers. haha! Geoffrey Rush is brilliantly unorthodox. Movie's got the right amount of drama and humor. The King's Speech didn't just show how a common man helped a royalty or how someone overcame his fears and made his impediments his assets, it also showed friendship, a rough friendship/companionship between someone who wants to help and bring out the best of the other someone who doesn't seem to realize his capabilities more so his greatness.

Poor and content is rich and rich enough - Shakespeare. :)

Mary and Max :)

2011-05-26T05:49:00.000-07:00

The movie follows the 'cute' friendship of two unlikely pen pals: Mary, an eight-year-old girl who lives in Australia and Max, a forty four-year-old obese man who lives in New York.
What Mary and Max shared was comfort, what they found was meaning.
Chocolates, Noblets and Letters - Based on a true story. :)
I totally enjoyed this movie. It's thought-provoking and a bit funny.

Quotes from the movie:

Max Jerry Horovitz [to Mary]: [Dr. Bernard Hazelhof] He said I would have to accept myself, my warts and all, and that we don't get to choose our warts. They are part of us and we have to live with them. We can, however, choose our friends, and I am glad I have chosen you. :)

Max Jerry Horovitz: Unfortunately, in America, babies are not found in cola cans. I asked my mother when I was four, and she said they came from eggs laid by rabbis. If you aren't Jewish, they're laid by Catholic nuns. If you're an atheist, they're laid by dirty, lonely prostitutes. *made me laugh*

Max Jerry Horovitz: Butts are bad because they wash out to sea, and fish smoke them and become nicotine-dependent. *LOL.

Inner Circle, Inner Ring, Ultimate Heist :)

A film by Laurent Tuel starring Jean Reno and Gaspard Ulliel
(can't care less about the others haha!)

This is one of those films that makes we wanna learn french so bad it hurts!

The title and the movie poster would make the audience expect an action-packed flick but what the movie has to offer is so much more than that. I would consider Ultimate Heist a bit of dramatic. It requires patience and attention. It's sort of unpredictable and realistic. It's got good plot and solid acting delivered by Jean Reno, of course and Gaspard Ulliel who proved himself very much capable..

Jean Reno + Gaspard Ulliel = :)

Ultimate Heist follows the story of the Malakian Clan led with an iron fist by Milo (Reno), but the story focuses more on Anton (Ulliel), his secret life and his dream of breaking free.

Spoiler Alert! haha! It's got an incredibly sad ending..

The Happening :)

2011-05-23T09:24:00.000-07:00

hmm. can't say it's good nor bad. it's confusing, actually. haha!

usually in a movie the viewers get to understand everything in the end or the

climax or maybe the turning point or anywhere else in the movie but

with The Happening, i didn't get to say 'oh ok' nor 'ah, i see', Ever!

I was already in the ending and I was still asking myself why and how and what? haha! maybe i'm stupid that's why i didn't get the answers! haha!

I don't know if it's just me or the movie haha!

I took a minute before writing this blog to really know what i'm gonna say about

this movie and i decidedto just say whatever! haha! I honestly think this movie

wants its audience to decide for themselves,to create their own theories or

maybe agree or disagree with the characters, it's as if The Happening wants its

viewers to believe whatever they want to believe. :)

The Happening's about a severe crisis that started in Central Park, a science teacher, his wife and a friend's daughter trying to survive and theories and more theories. haha! :)

Zooey Deschanel never fails to make me smile.

Mark Wahlberg's body is too good to be true for a science teacher. haha!

Quotations:

Elliot Monroe: You're not interested in what happened to the bees?
[Jake shakes his head]

Elliot Monroe: You should be more interested in science, Jake. You know why? Because your face is perfect. The problem is, your face is perfect at 15. Now if you were interested in science, you would know facts like the human nose and ears grow a fraction of an inch each year. So a perfect balance of features now might not look so perfect five years from now, and might look down right whack ten years from now.
[students laugh]
Elliot Monroe: Come on, buddy. Take an interest in science. What could be the reason bees have vanished?
Jake: [after a long pause] An act of nature, and we'll never fully understand it.
Elliot Monroe: Nice answer, Jake. He's right. Science will come up with some reason to put in the books, but in the end it'll be just a theory. I mean, we will fail to acknowledge that there are forces at work beyond our understanding. To be a scientist, you must have a respectful awe for the laws of nature.
[Jake raises his hand]
Elliot Monroe: Jake?

Jake: How much does the human nose grow each year?

Elliot Monroe: It's miniscule, buddy. Okay? Don't worry about it. You're going to be a heartthrob your whole life. I was just messing with you.

Elliot Monroe: [notices a plant moving inside the house they'd intruded upon, slowly walks to it and begins speaking softly to it] Hello? My name is Elliot Moore. Just want to talk in a very positive manner, giving off good vibes. We're just here to use the bathroom, and then we're just going to leave. I hope that's OK.
[feels the plant]

Elliot Monroe: Plastic. I'm talking to a plastic plant.
[pauses]

Elliot Monroe: I'm still doing it.

Waitress :)

2011-05-17T08:23:00.000-07:00

Waitress is a delicious comedy-drama written and directed by Adrienne Shelly.

I have to say it's amazing. It's heartfelt, bittersweet and sassy.

Waitress is the story of Jenna (Russell), an unhappily married pregnant woman trapped

in a life she had always wanted to escape, her last attempt on happiness and

how everything turned out fine. :)

If only life were as easy as pie. :)

Sometimes in Life You Have to Change Lanes.

fun.fresh.light. :)

it's true that sometimes a stranger is a greater friend than someone who

had known you all your life. :)

it's a feel-good movie about an actor and a grocery clerk and their trip

that showed each other their different worlds.

i'm in love with Morgan Freeman's voice, i love his laugh and his calm demeanor.

it's as if he could be your friend anytime. haha!

i love Paz Vega's accent and quirkiness.

Morgan Freeman + Paz Vega = bomb! :)

seven deadly sins. seven ways to die.

movie's crazy good. :)

'tis about two detectives' hunt for a serial killer who uses the

seven deadly sins as his modus operandi..

this is one of the bests, hands down. :)

it's one of the most violent and downright evil movies i've seen.

Quotes:

John Doe: Wanting people to listen, you can't just tap them on the shoulder anymore. You have to hit them with a sledgehammer, and then you'll notice you've got their strict attention.

William Somerset: Ernest Hemingway once wrote, "The world is a fine place and worth fighting for." I agree with the second part.

Along Came A Spider by JPat :)

2011-05-16T02:54:00.000-07:00

this is the first novel in a series of books written by James Patterson about Alex Cross.. :)

the story: Alex Cross + Jezzie Flanagan + Gary Soneji/Murphy.

lovers and a psycho. :)

it's about profiling the profiler and kidnapping from the kidnapper.

it's a good book with good and evil characters! :)

the book's far more better than the movie!

Along Came A Spider :)

2011-05-15T08:48:00.000-07:00

i'm gonna be very honest and brief with this one..

the only thing that's good about this movie is that Morgan Freeman played the role of my hero Alex Cross. That's it! No more, no less!

The Messengers :)

2011-05-14T07:09:00.000-07:00

a creepy haunted house flick: check!

The Messengers is another 'ah, i see' in the end movie.

You get to understand it all just towards the end.. the whats, hows and the whys..

Two words to describe this movie:

TYPICAL

SHALLOW

The only thing good about this movie is the fact that it makes the viewers remember or maybe realize that parent-child trust and communication is super duper important! :)

Manhunter :)

2011-05-14T06:52:00.000-07:00

Yey! :)

Honestly, I only watched this movie so that I could compare it with Red Dragon.

I think Red Dragon's better. haha! Well, that's just my opinion.

Anthony Hopkins is far more better than Brian Cox as Hannibal Lecter.

Edward Norton is slightly better than William Petersen as Will Graham.

Ralph Fiennes is more complicated looking than Tom Noonan.

And I think Red Dragon showed more than what Manhunter did.

Again, the above statements are MY opinion. :)

Red Dragon :)

2011-05-05T09:14:00.000-07:00

part one of the Hannibal Lecter Quadrilogy.

movie's very good! can't help comparing it to Silence of the Lambs though..

Ralph Fiennes + Edward Norton + Anthony Hopkins = so happy! haha!

i've watched all four! yey! [though not in correct order]!! :)

Julie & Julia :)

2011-05-05T07:34:00.000-07:00

the challenge: 365 days, 524 recipes :)

the movie's a light, entertaining comedy.. it's actually inspiring haha! inspiring in terms of making you want to finish something for a change, to be able to know that you are actually capable and good at something.. :) it's a dream come true sort of movie but this time it happened in real life which makes it all the more better.. :)

Julia Child and I have some things in common, we both love to eat and to cook.. the difference is that she's very good at cooking while i suck real bad at it.. Julie Powell and I have a thing in common too, we both love blogging/writing, the difference is that her blog is famous while mine, well i'm the only one who reads it actually. haha! :)

Mamma Mia! :)

2011-05-03T05:41:00.000-07:00

super fun to watch! it's originally a musical for the songs of ABBA and then made into a movie. it's pure clean fun, sweet and very entertaining.. actually, it's like a ray of sunlight for me..haha! :)

hannibal rising! :)

2011-05-02T07:55:00.000-07:00

life for a life. flesh for flesh. skin for skin.

revenge. vengeance. bitter memories.

love, hatred and justice.

this movie is perfect. superb. i'll never be able to forget it.

this movie showed how Hannibal Lecter became the monster he is and it was

shown intelligently and passionately.

:)
part four of the Hannibal Lecter Quadrilogy! :)

hannibal :)

2011-05-02T01:21:00.000-07:00

Rapunzel, Rapunzel..haha!

fun and sweet.. :)

the machinist :)

2011-04-30T06:57:00.000-07:00

this is one of the silently good ones.. subtle, i guess is the right word.. this is one of those movies that would make you go 'ah, i see' towards the climax and then it would make you wanna see more and more of the

turning point.. the story is intelligently made..

The Machinist tells the story of a lathe operator who hasn't slept for a year and is slowly

starting to doubt his sanity.. it's definitely a good watch, two-thumbs up! :)

Christian Bale looked abnormal in this film haha! but i still love him!

"A little guilt goes a long way" - so true.. :)

HOW DO YOU WAKE UP FROM A NIGHTMARE IF YOU'RE NOT ASLEEP?

silence of the lambs :)

2011-04-30T02:08:00.000-07:00

i know, i know.. i'm a dork for watching this movie only now.. it's brilliant!! i can't believe i missed a classic like this.. Dr. Hannibal Lecter got me hooked haha!

[i actually let him in my head! :) ]

am excited for Hannibal and Hannibal Rising! [currently downloading!] :)

can't find a nice torrent for Red Dragon though.. :(

i wanna read all of Thomas Harris' novels that features Hannibal the Cannibal, too bad i don't know where to get them c0z last time i checked, NBSBac doesn't

have them anymore.. :(
this is part two of the Hannibal Lecter Quadrilogy.. :)

Mary, Mary by JPat

2011-04-29T08:02:00.000-07:00

this is one cruel Alex Cross series novel! as usual, the exposition's very good, the turning point was crazy! this book made me sleep at 3.31 in the morning just to know whodunit.. haha!!

trivia: the title is from the rhyme mary, mary quite contrary..

this is the 11th novel [by jpat] featuring Dr. Alex Cross..

the devil's advocate.. :)

2011-04-29T07:06:00.000-07:00

can't believe it's only now that i watched this movie.. it's very good! :)
