I can only see these peacocks at the San Diego Zoo and I had wanted to take photos of it spreading its wings. The fact that we have been to this zoo for quite sometime now and I had no luck until the other day. I was so happy taking multiple pictures of this peacock. My husband caught him doing some rituals; he was showing off to the female peacock trying to get her attention. I took advantage of it for it was my chance of making my dream come true. The above photos are some of my photoshoots of the peacock. It was indeed fulfilling and it really made my day. Our Zoo adventure turned out to be incredible and I went home satisfied with my captures. It’s only been my second time to visit into this place. The first time I went there was 4 years ago and my son was only 18 months old then. I didn’t have a nice camera either at the time. Now that I got hooked into photography, I ask my husband if we can go back there and without hesitation he said “sure”. Anyway, it was really nice. Though the weather weren’t really perfect during our trip but I still love it. This field is only open for 2 and a half months in a year and that’s between April to May because during those months flowers are bloomed. Flowers are breathtaking, it was overwhelming to be surrounded by all kinds of it and we all love it.

I went out this morning for service and it was my first time working with this sister-in-faith whom I had an impression of her that has “shy personality”. It was really nice talking to her and I figured it out why she’s so shy at the meetings and barely talk to anyone. First of all, she’s a Mexican and she barely speaks English. That’s the major reason why she prefers to leave the hall without talking to some of the friends. Anyhow, I spoke to her and she’s really sweet. Although she was too conscious about his English but I totally understands her because we both have the same in common and that is English is not our primary language.

We felt comfortable talking to each other and she even mentioned about their home. She said that she and her husband along with their kinds are renting into this 3 bedroom with 3 baths for years now. They didn’t have to worry about mortgages because they don’t own the house. She told me how much they pay for it each month and I was totally surprised for we pay more than they do. For 2 bedroom and 1 bath? Heck ya! She then told me that they qualified for the low income program and I thought to myself, Oh, OK… no wonder why. They have nice a place than we do… She gave me an application form and told me to try if we can qualify for the program too. We’ll have to try and submit our application form and see if we can get it.

They’re everywhere

When we first moved-in here in our apartment, we didn’t know anything about the Manager’s personal life especially his gender until he confessed to us. Well, we didn’t know that he is a gay until he invited us over for his wedding reception. When the California had first approved the gay wedding, they took advantage of it and married his long time partner after their daughter who is now 15 years old. That’s how long they have been together and since then they became inseparable. I believe he and his partner have been to the San Diego Hillcrest where most of the transgender are hanging out.

The reason why I know about this place is because I’ve seen it on the local TV news one day and they were featuring one of the restaurants over there. Anyway, at first, the manager of our apartment was so hesitant to reveal his true identity to us but because he trusted us and we’ve been renting to this apartment for a very long time now, he blurted it out and told us about his life and relationship. We’re the longest tenant who rented this place, so, they thought might us well tell us about him and his partner. They’re nice people!

I’ve been so busy lately and I was trying to complete my time in the ministry for this month. I thought, why not give ourselves some precious time as a family and go to a place where we all can enjoy and forget about reality even for half-a-day only. So, we decided to visit the Flower Farm… It was gorgeous and it did refresh our brain and spirit because we were able to see wonderful creation of God. Flowers are so wonderful and I took advantage of that opportunity to photograph. I will share my pix later and for now, this will be my first photo sharing from our Flower Field Trip yesterday. More to come :D

Empty Nester

We are moving my youngest daughter to college! She is the last to leave the nest so I am officially an empty nester. I do not know what I will do with my time, although over the last couple of years, I have had a glimpse into this upcoming period of my life. Summer has not needed me so much since she began to drive a couple of years ago. And I have relinquished a lot of my school mom activities and responsibilities as the girls got older. I was always the room mom when they were in elementary school. I organized the seasonal parties, called the other mothers for assistance, bought the teacher gifts, chaperoned school field trips and dances, and sent homemade cookies to class about once a month. I made sure my girls were happy and had a great learning and socializing experience in school. Now, I may call expertsatellite and add some more cooking and travel channels for my viewing since I will have so much extra time on my hands now!

What is the perfect giveaway that my son can give to his friends at school? The first thing that comes to mind is the yoyo, I don’t know why but that’s what I thought would be a cool thing for giveaways. I know yoyofactory has something that I think my son and his classmates would love. I can actually order custom yo-yos, maybe a picture of my son in it or their class photos will do. I bet they’re going to love it and be fascinated with it. It’s just a cool thought.

President’s Day was coming up at the time, that’s the reason why you see those “crosses” all over the sand, to commemorate the soldiers who died from the war. If you happen to visit Los Angeles, I recommend you to visit Santa Monica for it is a place where tourists lands when they’re in LA. There are a lot of recreational activities here and there are a lot of locals and tourists around the area. We’ve been there twice already and it’s really nice especially when you go there during summer, beach time. They also have indoor games which is cool. This beach is also known in filming movies I believe the “Baywatch show” was once taken from this scene.

It was fun seeing her having fun with the snow. I’ve had a few snow adventures experienced but I haven’t tried skiing yet. I would love to do it someday with my entire family. We have a place here in southern California called Big Bear, that’s the place where Sandiegans usually go when they feel like skiing or just to have some plain snow adventure with their friends and family. I’ve never been there either. My family and I had our snow adventure up in the Mountain which is free, we didn’t any pay entrance fees or something like that, we just paid for the parking space. However, it’s not a safe place for ski adventure. My online pal shared some photos of her and her friends during their ski adventure. I think she went to a ski class with her friends and they were all wearing their ski gears and that includes ski goggles, her pink ski pants and jacket as well as snow skis. They all look like they had so much fun. I can’t wait to ski whenever it’s winter time!

I checked the mail yesterday afternoon before we went food shopping. My husband received a Life Insurance form from his union again asking him if he wants to upgrade the rates for his life insurance. We thought about it for a very long time now and we might have to upgrade it before the year is over. Usually, I feel uncomfortable talking about life insurance because it means death but I have to look at the brighter side of it to give me comfort somehow. My husband says that life insurance will give us security when it comes to financial matters. Even death can cost a lot of money and having a life insurance will surely take care of the financial debts and bills we may have.

My husband said that he needs to inquire more information at his union about the recent offer that they’re giving him about life insurance rates. Some of our friends and relatives here were telling us about the importance of life insurance and they even encourage us to get insured because accordingly, it’s for our own benefits. Well, we couldn’t agree more because they are totally right. We have to be practical these days.

my new haircut

I just had my haircut today. I asked my husband if he don’t mine me having short hair since I had long hair forever. He said its fine with him. So, we drove to my Filipino hairstylist this afternoon and I just gave her simple instruction. I trusted her because she has been hairstyling my hair for years now. I just told her I want short hair and it has to be above the shoulder. She definitely read my mind because it came out they way I envisioned it to be. That’s one of the reasons why I come to her salon every time I want haircuts because I had a bad experienced with other salon (Vietnamese hairstylist). I told myself, I will never go to any other salon. I can’t believe that a hairstylist will be asking me how short I want my hair will be, and the worst thing was that she had to ask me every cut she did. I’m like, hello, I already showed you a picture of the hairstyle I want, you should know better than I do. It was really upsetting and disappointing. I left without giving her any tip. Anyway, I love my hairstylist (I call her ate – forgot her first name) and she owned the salon, so it was cool. We do a little chit-chat while she trims my hair. I feel comfortable and at home with her.

My college friend and I recently traded conversation about our endeavors in life. She told me that she’s taking online mba and she’ll be graduating soon. She opened her own fashion boutique and she wants to expand it, and accordingly, that’s one of the reasons why she took MBA course. I am so impressed with her because she’s a small woman but she has a huge dream and I am happy for her because seems like everything is falling in place for her. She married a Singaporean a year ago and her husband is probably the ones who gave her some capital to start her own business.

She’s selling all kinds of fashionable items like clothing, accessories and handbags. She showed me her store through photos and I even teased her to send me one purse. I can tell that with my friend’s determination of making her business successful wouldn’t be so hard for her to achieve because she’s eagerly and wanting to learn more about business related opportunities. I can’t want to see her and her store next year; I’ll be there for a short vacation.

I was really looking forward to receiving my comfy earrings in the mail today. I was so happy when my husband handed me a small bubbled wrapped pocket in my hand. At first I was wondering where it came from but eventually I remembered that I recently ordered a classic diamond studs earrings. It’s really cute and it’s my first time to have this kind of earrings. I have to let my toddler wear it because then it’ll be hard for her to take this off of her ears. It’s perfect for everyday use. The gem is perfect and it looks authentic. Well, what can I say? Amazingly real! Thanks Comfy Earrings for this gorgeous diamond studs.

Blog Photo Challenge

I was browsing through my photo albums in my desktop and I came across with some of our old photos like the ones above. For some reason, I just love looking at this photo. Well, maybe because we were used to be so thin and now we blew it. We don’t look like that old person we were because of our extra weights we have right now. Well, I have to say that I am so blessed with my children so weights don’t matter anymore. I started gaining so much weigh after my beautiful children were born, so as my husband. LOL! Everything is worth it though, nothing is regretful. That photo was actually taken a few weeks later after my husband (fiancé at the time) arrived from USA to meet me in person for the very first time. What a great buy I had today. I went to the Victoria Secret store to redeem my free item which was a “very sexy mist (250 ml/8.4 fl oz)” and I was excited to get it because I love the scents of it. I was looking at their new fragrances on the shelf and one thing that caught my attention was the pink tote bag. I love it and so I decided to purchase one of the Eau de Parfum to be able to avail the FREE tote bag. I paid $29 + tax to be eligible for the tote bag’s criteria so to speak. I am so happy with my purchase and I also recieved a secret reward card, it could be from $10,$50,$100 to $500. How I wish I can get the largest amount LOL. Fireworks Displays @ Disneyland

One of the reasons why I love Disneyland is because of the “fireworks displays”. It’s amazing to watch the fireworks display with my family. I’m actually used to watching fireworks back in the Philippines because every holiday season and new years almost every household prepares for fireworks displays, but as I got here in the United States, everything has changed. I rarely see fireworks here because it’s forbidden. Anyhow, the fireworks display at Disneyland is really cool because there’s a story telling behind it. It’s fun and I will never get tired of watching it over and over again.

We like the hotel that we had accommodated during our short vacation in Anaheim California. It was very affordable and the amenities were likable. They also have a swimming pool and a couple of folding Adirondack chairs around it. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to go swimming because it was still winter at the time. The pool is actually seen through our room window. The next time we go to Anaheim, CA will be during summer time and we will surely take advantage of the pool. My children love swimming and it’s going to be fun. Honestly speaking, my children rarely swim in the pool and when they do, they just can’t get enough of it.

When buying a home

One thing that we want to consider in buying a home is that we preferably choose a home that comes with a nice pool. Since we have little children, we surely would want to have a pool fence for their safety. We’ve heard much negative news about unfenced pool; kids drowned because they snuck out and played nearby the pool without their parent’s knowledge. It’s really dangerous especially when you have a mischievous toddler around. Just like my toddler, she scares me a lot because of her being too much independence. She loves to explore things and insist on doing something forbidden. So, in case we buy our dream house that has a pool, we make sure it’s fenced.

These were just few of the houses we’ve toured while we were at the Hollywood for a short vacation. We’ve also seen houses of the following celebrities Cameron Dias, Sandra Bullock, Katie Perry, Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes, Christina Aguilera, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Robert Wagner, Simon Cowell, Lary King, Jennifer Aniston’s best friend’s house and I can’t remember the rest. I couldn't take a picture of them because their houses where all behind tall bushes. The tour was 2 hours long and it was a little bit scary because of the speed, it was like 60 mph going up to the hill and curve streets. We were like flying and I can barely write on the names of the celebrities’ home we had visited. We also toured at the Rodeo Drive and seen all kinds of brand names products like Hermes, Prada, Michael Kors, Gucci, Ralph Lauren, Guess, Chanel, Valentino, Fendi, Coach, Dolce & Gabbana, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Stefano Ricci and etc… We paid $100 for the tour including the tip, and I must say it was worth the tour, because we wont know that those restaurants and homes along the Hollywood blvd that we always passed by were celebrity’s home until after we're told by the trourist guide. We also had seen some of the shows from the Reality TV shows like; LA ink and Car Repo. Anyways, we’ve seen and learned a lot within two hours tour. At the end of the tour, I asked the lady driver why she drive so fast, she simply told me “that’s what you can survival and I was able to bring you back on time”. We were just laughing.
